Poetry books price drop

I've published several poetry books on Kindle. St. Crow is a collection of diverse poems, some whimsical and others more serious, which I've written over the past few years. Beware Old Lovers contains love poems as well as poems about the opportunity for growth that relationships, even difficult ones, can provide.

Both works will be available on Amazon for .99 each later today. They are also in the Kindle Lending Library and Kindle Unlimited.

When a Fictional Character Dies

I was going through my usual morning routine of checking the news online, which led to clicking on even more links to tangential things, which led to this: a crying pillow for when fictional characters die: http://www.lookhuman.com/design/60273...

It reminded me of times when my reading was interrupted and someone would find me crying at the end, or even in the middle of a book, when a character was "written out" (as we now say about TV series). But I've always thought about it as more than that - the death of a character, if a reader is very involved in a book, can hit hard for a book we feel emotionally invested in.

The bright side is I count myself lucky to have found so many great works of fiction that drew me in enough to have that reaction.

Volume 3 of Reading Series on Disability Now Up

I've just published The Odd Gift: and other short stories about disability for college students (Reading Materials on Disability Themes for Teachers and Young Adults Book 3). This collection of short stories for young adults can be read independently or used for classroom teaching on disability themes. This volume is geared toward college students. The story The Odd Gift explores stereotypes imposed on people with disabilities; Lime and Cake is about a wife's feelings about care giving for her husband who has Alzheimer s; Wait and See deals with a father's reaction to his son's diagnosis of autism; His Parents' House is about a twenty something who moves home after acquiring a disability; and Gravity Sucks deals with how a student with cerebral palsy responds to bullying.

This book is available at Amazon : http://www.amazon.com/Odd-Gift-disabi...

Welcome!

Welcome to friends and readers from my blog A Different Light (wordpress) and my twitter account @rampracer as well as new friends who find me here at Goodreads. I'm excited to announce publication of poetry and short stories that I've been working on for a long time.

After blogging at A Different Light since 2007, I found many readers were requesting copies of my short stories and poems. I decided to publish some of my work hoping to reach a larger audience.

I look forward to providing information about promotions on my books. All are currently available on kindle unlimited and are in their lending library for prime members.

It's always been rewarding to hear from young adults, teachers, parents, children - all my readers, so I hope you'll feel comfortable leaving messages on this page.

Best wishes,
Ruth
