Abigail Baskin never thought she’d fall in love with a millionaire. Then she met Bruce Lamb. He’s a good guy, stable, level-headed, kind—a refreshing twist from her previous relationships.

But right before the wedding, Abigail has a drunken one-night stand on her bachelorette weekend. She puts the incident—and the sexy guy who wouldn’t give her his real name—out of her mind, and now believes she wants to be with Bruce for the rest of her life.

Then the mysterious stranger suddenly appears—and Abigail’s future life and happiness are turned upside down. He insists that their passionate night was the beginning of something much, much more. Something special. Something real—and he’s tracked her down to prove it.

Does she tell Bruce and ruin their idyllic honeymoon—and possibly their marriage? Or should she handle this psychopathic stalker on her own? To make the situation worse, strange things begin to happen. She sees a terrified woman in the night shadows, and no one at the resort seems to believe anything is amiss… including her perfect new husband.

It's Monday! What Are You Reading? - 1 February 2021

#IMWAYR is a weekly meme started on J Kaye’s blog and then was hosted by Sheila from Book Journey. Sheila then passed it on to Kathryn at The Book Date.
Happy Monday Bookdragons! First off, can you believe it's February already?! I took a week off from blogging last week because Saturday was moving day and I had to finish packing. Luckily I was able to get some reading time in and even managed to (finally) do the final proofread for my upcoming release Monsters & Mist (Out 3.19.2021)
What I Read Last Week: Serpent's Kiss by Melissa de la Cruz Thanks to Amazon's Kindle Challenge in January I've been reading more ebooks which was perfect for continuing my binge of the Witches of East End novel. I'm really loving the books and enjoyed seeing Ingrid become less prim and proper in Serpent's Kiss. Freya is still my favorite character though.
Currently Reading:Winds of Salem by Melissa de la Cruz I started the third and final book of the Witches of East End series on Friday but with moving over the weekend I haven't had much time to really dig into it. After the ending of Serpent's Kiss I'm excited to see how everything is going to wrap up.
Next ReadOf The Blood by Cameo Renae I have the first book in the spin-off series from Witches of East End but I'm going to take a break after I finish Winds of Salem and switch over to... vampires. I've been wanting to read Of The Blood since I first saw it on bookstagram and got myself a signed copy for Christmas and once I figure out which box it went into I'm going to give it a try.

What is your first read of February? How many books did you read in January?

I Can't Wait For... THE INITIAL INSULT

Can't-Wait Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Wishful Endings, to spotlight and discuss the books we're excited about that we have yet to read. Generally they're books that have yet to be released.
I can't believe I didn't hear about this book until recently but it sounds amazing...

The Initial Insult
The Initial Insult Duology, Book 1
by Mindy McGinnis
YA Thriller
eBook, Hardcover, audiobook 384 pages

February 23, 2021 by Katherine Tegen Books

Blurb:
Welcome to Amontillado, Ohio, where your last name is worth more than money, and secrets can be kept… for a price.

Tress Montor knows that her family used to mean something—until she didn’t have a family anymore. When her parents disappeared seven years ago while driving her best friend home, Tress lost everything. She might still be a Montor, but the entire town shuns her now that she lives with her drunken, one-eyed grandfather at what locals refer to as the “White Trash Zoo,” – a wild animal attraction featuring a zebra, a chimpanzee, and a panther, among other things.

Felicity Turnado has it all – looks, money, and a secret that she’s kept hidden. She knows that one misstep could send her tumbling from the top of the social ladder, and she’s worked hard to make everyone forget that she was with the Montors the night they disappeared. Felicity has buried what she knows so deeply that she can’t even remember what it is… only that she can’t look at Tress without having a panic attack.

But she’ll have to.

Tress has a plan. A Halloween costume party at an abandoned house provides the ideal situation for Tress to pry the truth from Felicity – brick by brick – as she slowly seals her former best friend into a coal chute. With a drunken party above them, and a loose panther on the prowl, Tress will have her answers – or settle for revenge.

In the first book of this duology, award-winning author Mindy McGinnis draws inspiration from Edgar Allan Poe and masterfully delivers a dark, propulsive mystery in alternating points of view that unravels a friendship . . . forevermore.

Top Ten Tuesday: 10 10 Books I Meant to Read in 2020 But Didn't Get ToThis week’s TTT is about books we wanted to read last year but didn't get to. 1. Aurora Burning by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff
2. From Blood and Ash by Jennifer L. Armentrout
3. Kingdom of the Wicked by Kerri Maniscalco
4. Fable by Adrienne Young
5. The Girl the Sea Gave Back by Adrienne Young
6. The Hunter and the Mage by Kaitlyn Davis
7. Dark and Deepest Red by Anna-Marie McLemore
8. It Ends With Us by Colleen Hoover
9. Crave by Tracy Wolff
10. The Institute by Stephen King

{Release Day Blitz} THE INVITATION by Vi Keeland

Title: The InvitationAuthor: Vi KeelandGenre: Standalone Contemporary RomanceRelease Date: January 18, 2021

BLURB
The first time I met Hudson Rothschild was at a wedding. I’d received an unexpected invitation to one of the swankiest venues in the city.
Hudson was a groomsman and quite possibly the most gorgeous man I’d ever laid eyes on. He asked me to dance, and our chemistry was off the charts.
I knew it wasn’t a good idea to get involved with him, considering the wedding I was at. But our connection was intense, and I was having a great time.
Though the fun came to a screeching halt when Hudson figured out I wasn’t who I’d said I was. You see, that unexpected invitation I received? Well, it hadn’t actually been addressed to me—it was sent to my ex-roommate who’d bounced a check for two months’ rent and moved out in the middle of the night. I figured she owed me an expensive night out, but I guess, technically, I was crashing the wedding.
Once caught, I couldn’t get out of there fast enough. As I bolted for the door, I might’ve plucked a few bottles of expensive champagne off the tables I passed, all while the gorgeous, angry groomsman was hot on my tail.
Outside, I jumped into a taxi. My heart ricocheted against my ribs as we drove down the block—but at least I’d escaped unscathed.
Or so I thought.
Until I realized I’d left my cell phone behind at the table.
Take one guess who found it?
This is the crazy story of how Hudson Rothschild and I met. But trust me, it’s only the tip of the iceberg.

It's Monday! What Are You Reading? - 18 January 2021

#IMWAYR is a weekly meme started on J Kaye’s blog and then was hosted by Sheila from Book Journey. Sheila then passed it on to Kathryn at The Book Date.
Happy Monday Bookdragons! I hope you had a somewhat relaxing weekend.
What I Read Last Week: Witches of East End by Melissa de la Cruz I'm glad I gave this book a chance. Like I mentioned last week it is a lot different from the Lifetime tv show that was on a few years ago - from character descriptions to magic vs. magic ban to characters having different names... and no Aunt Wendy 😭 - but I really enjoyed the book once I got in my mind that show was its own separate entity. It's a quick read and it kept my interest the whole way through.
Currently Reading:Glass Houses by Rachel Caine I devoured this series when I was younger. I couldn't read the books fast enough. But I've tried rereading it twice now and I'm just not feeling it. I mean it's like I know exactly what's going to happen and I can't focus on the book. Maybe it's a read-once-love-it-but-don't-reread kind of book for me. It happens sometimes.
Next ReadSerpent's Kiss by Melissa de la Cruz Now that I've gotten through the first book I'm eager to keep reading about the Beauchamps so I just put the second and third book on my kindle.
***
How do you feel about rereading a book? Can you enjoy a book once you know how it's going to end? Or are some books just better reading one time only?

I Can't Wait For... The Nature of Witches

Can't-Wait Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Wishful Endings, to spotlight and discuss the books we're excited about that we have yet to read. Generally they're books that have yet to be released.
This one sounds really interesting and I'm looking forward to reading it when it releases this summer...

The Nature of Witches
Standalone
by Rachel Griffin
YA, Paranormal, Fantasy
eBook, Hardcover, 362 pages

June 1, 2021 by Sourcebooks Fire

Blurb:
Practical Magic meets Twister in this debut contemporary fantasy standalone about heartbreaking power, the terror of our collapsing atmosphere, and the ways we unknowingly change our fate.

For centuries, witches have maintained the climate, their power from the sun peaking in the season of their birth. But now their control is faltering as the atmosphere becomes more erratic. All hope lies with Clara, an Everwitch whose rare magic is tied to every season.

In Autumn, Clara wants nothing to do with her power. It's wild and volatile, and the price of her magic―losing the ones she loves―is too high, despite the need to control the increasingly dangerous weather.

In Winter, the world is on the precipice of disaster. Fires burn, storms rage, and Clara accepts that she's the only one who can make a difference.

In Spring, she falls for Sang, the witch training her. As her magic grows, so do her feelings, until she's terrified Sang will be the next one she loses.

In Summer, Clara must choose between her power and her happiness, her duty and the people she loves...before she loses Sang, her magic, and thrusts the world into chaos.

Top Ten Tuesday: 10 Bookish and Non-Bookish Goals for 2021

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme created by The Broke and The Bookish and currently hosted by Jana @ That Artsy Reader Girl.
Top Ten Tuesday: 10 Bookish and Non-Bookish Goals for 2021This week’s TTT is for resolutions/hopes, and goals for 2021 (bookish or not!). Most of my goals are non-bookish so I'll list my two bookish ones first...
1. Read for enjoyment and stop taking on books for reviews. (No more deadlines and pressure)

2. Read the books I actually own before buying more (Clear out my shelves to make room).

3. Drink More Water (I average about 32 ounces per day, I'd like to double it)

4. Get and Keep a New Job! (Most important since my last job as a caregiver ended when my grandmother passed away in December and I have no income currently)

5. Visit Josh (my long-distance boyfriend of 8 years, who lives in Nashville)

6. Decorate my walls & remember the moments (hang pictures of things/times I want to remember)

7. Try a new hobby (I want to learn to kayak this summer!)

8. Learn something new (I'd like to learn French)

9. Get my driver's license (Yes, I'm 28 and I have never gone through with actually getting my license)

10. Go to Michigan (Marquette, Michigan is one of my favorite places to visit and I haven't been there since 2016. I figure if I get my driver's license and can overcome my fear of the hilly roads there I can finally visit again)
***What are some of your bookish or non-bookish goals for 2021?Let me know in the comments or drop a link to your TTT!Happy Reading Bookdragons!-Taylor

It's Monday! What Are You Reading? - 11 January 2021

#IMWAYR is a weekly meme started on J Kaye’s blog and then was hosted by Sheila from Book Journey. Sheila then passed it on to Kathryn at The Book Date.
Happy Monday Bookdragons! I hope you had a somewhat relaxing weekend.
What I Read Last Week: Crier's War by Nina Varela Overall, I enjoyed this book. I'm more looking forward to the second book to conclude the duology. I thought this one focused more on the rebellion and the sovereign and Crier's fiancé as opposed to the romance between Crier and Ayla. It was a little too slow burn (nearly non-existent) for me. And I want more of Storme and Junn... she seems ruthless but I'm intrigued.
Magic Dark and Strange by Kelly Powell I was nervous going into this one because it has just so-so reviews online and I don't see it ever on bookstagram but I was hooked right from the beginning. I liked the narrator of the audiobook and the story was quick and kept me interested the whole way through. If you like historical fantasy that almost has a steampunk feel to it this one is a good choice. The Grace Year by Kim Liggett I wasn't sure I was going to like this one when I first started listening to the audiobook but I ended up loving it as much as everyone said I would. It had vibes of Lord of the Flies (loosely) and The Handmaid's Tale and the narrator keeps you invested in the story. The ending is kind of sad but overall it's a great read for everyone looking for the type of YA book where girls knock down the patriarchy. Currently Reading:Witches of East End by Melissa de la Cruz I have watched the Lifetime series 3 times but I have never actually read the book. I know that the two are vastly different in certain ways but I'm hoping I can separate one from the other once I start this tonight.
Next ReadThe Last Witness by Claire McFall This is the next audiobook I'm borrowing from my library's Hoopla. It's been on my TBR for a while and it sounds really eerie and awesome.

Have you had any 5 star reads so far this year?
