It's not Thursday but it is Black Friday! I hope all of you are finding some amazing deals. I did get one piece of book mail in the past week in addition to finishing my Bookstagram Secret Santa shopping (I shipped out my parcel today). Here's what was in my mailbox this week...

My Review:
Six Little Secrets is The Breakfast Club meets Pretty Little Liars. Gather six teenagers from different social groups in one room for a Saturday detention who have seemingly nothing in common, yet each is hiding something. Insert a mysterious voice over the PA system when the detention monitor leaves the room who tells them they are all there for a reason - because of the things they're hiding (broadcast in the style of Agatha Christie's And Then There Were None or Ten by Gretchen McNeil) and wait for the ensuing mayhem.
Each one is given a task and should they refuse or fail the task there will be consequences. At first, they blow it off as a prank - until their unseen provocateur delivers the first consequence. Realizing it isn't a joke the six band together to complete their tasks even as the tasks and consequences become more serious. Why have these six been selected? What did they ever do to their attacker? Who is the person calling the shots and why?
Either way, these six will be bound together by this day forever.
At first, I didn't think I would like this book. I could identify it right away as being like The Breakfast Club and I was hoping there'd be some murder or something in this book (there was, just not in the way I expected).
This book was fast-paced and relatively short so I easily found myself getting engrossed in the story and by the end, I was pleasantly surprised at how much I liked it. I genuinely did not know who the person behind it all was until it came out at the end and I was interested in finding out all of the character's secrets - although some of them were just kind of "meh" secrets. And even the person targeting them's motive seems a little shaky. These six inadvertently caused the event that set the instigator off but why did that person choose to get revenge in this way? Sure, the cops probably wouldn't have gone after the six for the event that was the catalyst but surely all of these secrets (at least the ones that were criminal) could have been turned over to the police.
Overall, I liked this book much more than I expected to and found the ending satisfying which is the important part. I was emotionally invested in the characters enough that I wanted to see what happened to them and the plot was consistent and kept me going. Would I read this book again? Yes. Would I recommend it to a friend or another reader? Also yes. It was an enjoyable read and it's perfect for someone looking for a quick thriller.

Why I Requested This Book | What I Think So Far:I requested to read and review this book from InkSlingerPR because I couldn't get enough of the first two books. I don't normally like this genre, but I love Wendy Higgins's writing so much that I'm sure she could write any genre and I would love it! Undone is so, so good so far. I wasn't sure I would like alternating between Amber and Remy's perspectives but now I love seeing into Remy's mind. I don't want to put this book down and I can't wait to see how it all comes together in the end!

At first this wasn't one of my favorites but now I love to sniff it. It's been sitting open on top of my bookcase for a few months now and it still smells fantastic.

This is a really relaxing scented candle. It smells clean, like fresh linen in a way.
I think it's safe to say A Court of Candles is probably my favorite candle company but I love candles from each of the companies I've bought from. Both #Bookstagram and Der Erlkonig from Wick and Fable are fantastic, as is Cassius from Stub Tail Candle Company, Baz and Simon from Novelly Yours, Le Cirque Des Reves from FrostBeard, and Black Flame Candle from The Melting Library. There's something to love from them all!

This week's book mail post is less about books I received in the mail and more about books I purchased at Half Price Books during their sale last week. Being short on cash, I did limit myself to two books although there were 3-4 more that was dying to pick up. Ah... if I didn't have holiday shopping to do... Anyway, here are the two new books on my shelf:
Shadow and Bone (Grisha Trilogy #1)by Leigh Bardugo and The Replacement by Brenna Yovanoff
I've read Shadow and Bone but I wanted a copy of my own (I have the audiobook and I got the hardcover from the library). My goal now is to get copies of Siege and Storm and Ruin and Rising with the original paperback covers. I don't like the new covers. Also, I really loved Fiendish by Brenna Yovanoff and I was interested in reading more by her. Luckily I was able to find a (slightly battered) copy of The Replacement during my book hunt.

"What I'm Reading" Wednesday #99
This week I've got 99 Problems but reading isn't one of them. At least not entirely. I have two ARCs sitting on my Kindle ready to be read but I can't enjoy them without burning out my eyes until I get my new glasses, so instead I'm reading...

I'm just starting this book today but I'm hoping it has the same Southern Gothic, creepy feel as Fiendish.

This week's TTT is all about books I want the next generation (whether it's my future children... should hell freeze over and I actually desire some, or children in general) to read. Okay, so technically I only came up with six books this week, but two of those picks are series, one with seven books and the other with thirteen so I think that should count as bonus points!
Harry Potter (1-7)
Harry Potter, whether you love it or not, is definitely a series that kids should read. It pretty much should be required school reading. The Witch of Blackbird Pond
The Witch of Blackbird Pond was one of the rare school-assigned books that I actually loved. Maybe it's the witch thing or the fact that it has a hint of romance in it, but this book enchanted me in the sixth grade and continues to bewitch me to this day. Crash Into Me
Crash Into Me is not a book for young children, but for the teen that might be struggling with life, both this book and 13 Reasons Why will definitely help you realize that you're not alone and hopefully that you'll get past the hard times. 13 Reasons Why
A Series of Unfortunate Events
I loved these books more than Harry Potter. There, I said it. I couldn't get enough of these books in middle school and they'd be the top of the list of books I'd recommend to my kids if I had any.One of my Books...
Of course if I had children, I'd want them to read my books when they were old enough.
