*BRACKEN RIDGE* Saturday Spankings

Welcome to my blog and my first-ever Saturday Spankings blog hop, where spanking authors share a snippet of their work in 8 sentences. It's actually much harder than it sounds, finding just 8 sentences with which to entice readers!

My first book, Bracken Ridge, published by Blushing Books, was released in January. It is a horsey spanking romance, set in an equestrian centre in New Zealand.
Blurb:  When Anna Fletcher comes home from University back to Bracken Ridge, the equine centre where she grew up, she is stunned to find Jeremy McCrae working as the manager. They were children together and she has had a crush on him forever. The years she's been away, Jeremy has only gotten cuter.
Anna has plans for Bracken Ridge, but before she can implement them, she needs to prove herself. The biggest obstacle in her path is her nemesis, Sharon, the stable hand who thinks Jeremy is mighty fine. Once Anna gets past her, Jeremy is standing in her way - he's now the boss, but she can't work for him. He's been her best mate forever, and to cede to his authority now is going against every grain of her nature. Being the daughter of the owner, Jeremy isn’t allowed to fire Anna, so when she gets rebellious and sassy he decides to spank her instead.
Can Jeremy tame Anna's rebellious spirit before it is too late?

Excerpt: The scene I have chosen to share is where Anna has a melt-down under pressure and goes out drinking, attempting to drive home drunk, but runs out of petrol on the side of the road. Ever her saviour, Jeremy rescues her, then returns with her the next day to bring home the car. Anna has just finished putting a tin of petrol in it, when this happens:
He had taken off his belt and was holding it in his hand, doubled over. There was a dangerous glint in his eyes. Anna gulped.            “Come around to the front of the car and bend over,” he ordered her in a gentle tone, but so authoritarian and stern at the same time that Anna couldn’t help but obey him. Slowly, reluctantly, she edged along the ditch alongside the car, and when she reached the front, she stretched out along the bonnet.            “Why are you getting this spanking?”             “Because you’re mean?”            Jeremy chuckled, slapping her butt hard. “No. Try again.”

Rachel's Journey #wipitupFor my very first #wipitup I tho...

Rachel's Journey #wipitup
For my very first #wipitup I thought I would share part of a scene from my soon-to-be-released spanking romance novel Rachel's Journey.
“Hmmm,” James murmured in agreement. Then he rolled over and kissed her. She kissed him back, raw passion lending urgency to the way their lips melded together, and when she opened her mouth slightly he pressed his tongue gently inside, exploring her mouth. Her hand cupped the back of his head, her fingers entwined in his curls, pressing him ever closer to her, deepening the kiss. His hand trailed down her front, inside the buttons of her shirt, while the other hand clasped the base of her neck, where her shoulders met her spine. The kiss was hot, crushing, undeniable passion fulfilling the primal need within them.  Electricity coursed through Rachel’s body and she was aware of only one thing: desire. She wanted him, no needed him.            With their lips still melded together, James’ searching fingers unbuttoned her shirt and he pushed it down off her shoulders, exposing her breasts scantily clad in a white lace bra that really wasn’t suited for physical work. Breaking apart, James took her hand and led her stumbling inside, where he kicked the door shut behind them.            “Take me to bed,” Rachel whispered huskily, hissing as his hand brushed over her still-throbbing bottom. With a grin, James lowered his mouth to hers again, backing her up the hallway towards his bedroom, guiding her with gentle hands on her shoulders as he flicked his tongue in and out of her mouth, tasting her, teasing her, devouring her.            He lay her gently down on his bed, mindful of her sore bottom, and aware, too, of his own injuries. “Are you sure about this?” he whispered softly, hoarsely, hoping against hope that she would be; he wanted her more than he could ever remember wanting another woman.            “Yes. I’m sure. But I’m not a virgin, James,” she told him quietly, ruefully, feeling as though she was letting him down. She’d always wanted to save herself for the “right man” but she’d foolishly thought Mike had been that man.            James just winked at her. “Neither am I,” he grinned rakishly.            Startled, she realised how her words had sounded. “Oh! But I’m not a …”            “Shhh,” he put his finger to her lips. “I know.” Then he pressed his lips to hers, effectively silencing her with a kiss.

Many years ago, back in the day when I used to write poet...

Many years ago, back in the day when I used to write poetry, I penned this poem. I didn't keep very many of the poems I wrote, most of them were normal teenage therapy type stuff, but for some reason I kept this one.
Seeing as how Bracken Ridge features a horse race, albeit under very different circumstances, I thought this was an appropriate poem to share.

The stables were abuzz with peoplefor today was the Championship raceand all the good horses were entered -to lose would be a disgrace.
The manager fingered his beardand shouted "today I'll be rich!the prize money's four million dollars!from now on my life will be swish.
Sapphire Rose must pull together"he said, "we're counting on her for the win;and you-" he then said to the jockey"must push her hard - to not, would be sin.
You must keep at her, keep pushing her onwards, encourage her, demand for her best;today she must prove what she's made of -this race is the ultimate test.
Her mother's a champion broodmareher sire, too, a first-running boy;she has all the speed in her breedingand endurance, and strength, but she's coy.
Keep with her, keep her up with the leadersdon't let her get back in the pack, coming down the back straight push her hardershe'll surge forward, there'll be no turning back.
Just look at this glorious horse here, all muscle and sinew and spirit;she wants to run - look at her stamping -she's got this race won, so don't blow it!
Saddle her up now, but be carefulbandage tightly her delicate legs. This race is worth millions of dollarsso treat her like you're handling some eggs.
Come here you!" he yelled to the jockey"If you don't win this race you are dead! This race is worth four million dollars -you lose, and it goes on your head!"
The manager just wanted money,to get it he was ruthless and mean;it's known he's not beyond cheating, where there's money involved, he's keen.                       ***In another part of New Zealanda young girl prepares for the raceshe's fallen out big with her familyand to win this would help her save face.
You see, she ran off with her boyfriendand her family have cast her away, her boyfriend was once the farm workerbut her father would not let them stay.
He said to them it was 'disgraceful' to fall in love with each other like that.He said: "I'm ashamed you're my daughter. You can both leave right now!" he spat.
This race was a chance to prove herself, her father had challenged her to win;the only way to win his approvalwas to become the new Champion.
Finally they got to the racetrackand they checked out who she had to beat -fast horses and professional jockeyswho would be quick on their racehorse feet.
The odds were not in their favourtheir chance was six hundred to one;Sapphire Rose was the favourite, she was fast and she loved to run.
She had all the speed from her breedingher trainer was right by her side, she had a professional jockeywho was paid to do nothing but ride.
The girl thinks to herself "I am crazy!I'll be lucky not to come last!"her horse was not bred to win racesand Sapphire Rose will be fast.
Her horse is a pedigree Thoroughbredand yes, he has youth on his sidebut with no racing blood in his breedingall they can do is ride.
He was bred out the back on the farmfor galloping up hills after sheep;he's not used to running on flat land -his muscles were toned on the steep.
They have no alternative wayto give four million bucks to her dad, winning this race is their only hopetheir situation is very sad.
"All competitors onto the field"the announcers voice suddenly criesthe girl leaps onto her horses' backand friskily he shies.
"Get on up Danny Boy," she spurs himshe rides him out onto the track, they eye up the other competitorsbut now there's no turning back.
The horses and jockeys line up in their boxadrenaline runs through their veinstheir stirrups are short, they're sitting up highand tightly cling onto the reins.
The starter gun goes, the horses leap outthey're in a fast sprint in one pace,Sapphire Rose jumps into the leadand Danny Boy boldly gives chase.
They're galloping hard along the first legthey're both nose and nose in the lead, the jockey spurs her a little bit more'and Sapphire increases her speed.
Another horse catches up Danny Boyand passes him on the back bendthe jockeys all pressure their horses -the best one will win in the end.
Another horse comes, and another,Danny Boy's dropping back in the packbut one horse is starting to labourand soon two or three have dropped back.
They're coming along the back straight nowand Danny Boy's still going stronghe passes one horse then another,he and Sapphire gallop along.
Sapphire Rose is starting to wheezeexhausted, she's starting to slow;her jockey whips her and pushes her onDanny Boy's still raring to go.
Sapphire Rose has given her allshe just can not run any faster,Danny Boy's rider gives him his headand Danny Boy goes surging past her.
Sapphire's manager is shaking his fistand yelling "give her more spur man!I intend to win! Push her harder!Dropping back is not part of the plan!"
Sapphire Rose gives it one more shotshe gives it one more burst of speedbut just as she gains on Danny Boyhe jumps right back into the lead!
The girl has to win so she spurs himshe's after much more than the prize;the money is not why they're running, she wants acceptance in her father's eyes.
Danny Boy stretches out furtherhe lengthens his strides even morethe girl wants him to go fasterso he stretches out more than before.
His lead on Sapphire is increasingthe end of the race is in sight,Sapphire's jockey is urging her on -they won't lose without a good fight.
Danny Boy's muscles were toned on the hillsand Sapphire trains on the trackDanny Boy's lungs are big and strong;Sapphire tries, but drops back.
They're strides away from the finish lineand Danny Boy's a good length aheadSapphire's jockey whips her for all he's worth,Sapphire tries, but stumbles instead.
Danny Boy races over the linethe crowd whistles and cheers for their win;Danny Boy, ridden by a slip of a girlis now the new Champion!
For love they overcame tremendous oddsthey gave of their best till the lastthe girl and her boyfriend can now be togetherand this race will soon be in their past.

My first book: Bracken Ridge

Being the daughter of the owner, Jeremy isn’t allowed to fire Anna, so when she gets rebellious and sassy he decides to spank her instead.
Can Jeremy tame Anna's rebellious spirit before it is too late?

Excerpt:   Jeremy gave her a grin when she walked past him in the stables the next morning. Dawn had barely broken, and the stables were a hive of activity. The three school-aged stable hands were hard at work, tying up horses, leading others outside to the day paddocks and mucking out stables.  Anna gave him the fingers. The stable hands sniggered. They liked Jeremy for the most part, but they had each encountered his wrath at one time or another. He was a fair man, but firm. And the young stable hands thought he could be too bossy and had an occasional arrogant streak, so they loved it when someone gave him his come-uppance.                     “Back to work,” Jeremy snapped at them.  Then he looked directly at Anna and pointed towards the direction of his office. “My office. Now.”            “Ooooh, now you’re in trouble!” one of the stable hands murmured quietly, but Anna couldn’t tell which one it was. Jeremy smiled, shaking his head. Then he followed Anna into his office and shut the door. He indicated the chair on the side of the desk nearest the door, and he walked around the desk and sat in his big swivel chair.            “Your father’s advice was to haul you in here first thing this morning and give you a severe telling-off. I wasn’t going to, but it appears that he knows what he’s talking about. “            “Go on then, I’ll sit here and ogle you and listen. You’re sexy when you’re stern.” Anna leaned back casually in the chair and smiled, and she saw Jeremy stifle a grin.            “Do you still want to work for me?”            Anna nodded. She did. Well actually, she didn’t. She didn’t much enjoy working for Jeremy at all. She wanted to be in charge. And she liked him much better when he wasn’t in charge. But right now, her options were to work for him, or not. So she chose the former.            “Good. You’d better get it into your mind to follow my orders then, and stop undermining me in front of the staff. It’s hard enough to keep kids of that age in line, without you giving them a bad example.  Your father reckons I’m not allowed to fire you. However, I have his full support in doing whatever I want to gain your compliance, and he will not question my methods.”            “And what methods will they be?” Anna asked sweetly, looking up at him flirtatiously. As her father had told her the exact same thing last night she wasn’t surprised, although she was curious as to how Jeremy thought he would force her to obey him.            “Spanking.” Jeremy replied, a twinkle in his eye.            “Spanking? Are you serious?” It was all Anna could do not to laugh.            “Ah-ha. Spanking. I take it you’re familiar with the concept?” This time the smallest of smiles escaped Jeremy’s lips even though he fought to stop it – he’d grown up with Anna. He knew for a fact that she was very familiar with the concept of spankings.             “Crikey, that will just about be worth being naughty for!” She skipped out of his office lightly, and as she did, Jeremy reached out and slapped her butt.             “Ow you bastard! That hurt!” She shrieked at him, clutching the seat of her jeans in mock agony.            Jeremy grabbed her arm and pulled her in close to him so he could whisper in her ear. “That was just light. The next one will really hurt. And if you swear again, you will find out just how much it will hurt.” With a wicked grin and another hearty slap, he let her go. She walked away quickly, rubbing the sting out of her bottom as she went.***
