E is for Equestrian Spanking Romance!
June Challenge: SpankA2Z I'm having so much fun with this blog hop! Those of you who have visited my blog before will be familiar with Bracken Ridge an equestrian spanking romance - my debut novel.
Blurb:
When Anna Fletcher comes home from University back to Bracken Ridge, the equine centre where she grew up, she is stunned to find Jeremy McCrae working as the manager. They were children together and she has had a crush on him forever. The years she's been away, Jeremy has only gotten cuter.Anna has plans for Bracken Ridge, but before she can implement them, she needs to prove herself. The biggest obstacle in her path is her nemesis, the stable hand who thinks Jeremy is mighty fine. Once Anna gets past her, Jeremy is standing in her way - he's now the boss, but she can't work for him. He's been her best mate forever, and to cede to his authority now is going against every grain of her nature. Being the daughter of the owner, Jeremy isn’t allowed to fire Anna, so when she gets rebellious and sassy he decides to spank her instead.
Can Jeremy tame Anna's rebellious spirit before it is too late?

Here is an excerpt: Jeremy gave her a grin when she walked past him in the stables the next morning. Dawn had barely broken, and the stables were a hive of activity. The three school-aged stable hands were hard at work, tying up horses, leading others outside to the day paddocks and mucking out stables. Anna gave him the fingers. The stable hands sniggered. They liked Jeremy for the most part, but they had each encountered his wrath at one time or another. He was a fair man, but firm. And the young stable hands thought he could be too bossy and had an occasional arrogant streak, so they loved it when someone gave him his come-uppance. “Back to work,” Jeremy snapped at them. Then he looked directly at Anna and pointed towards the direction of his office. “My office. Now.” “Ooooh, now you’re in trouble!” one of the stable hands murmured quietly, but Anna couldn’t tell which one it was. Jeremy smiled, shaking his head. Then he followed Anna into his office and shut the door. He indicated the chair on the side of the desk nearest the door, and he walked around the desk and sat in his big swivel chair. “Your father’s advice was to haul you in here first thing this morning and give you a severe telling-off. I wasn’t going to, but it appears that he knows what he’s talking about. “ “Go on then, I’ll sit here and ogle you and listen. You’re sexy when you’re stern.” Anna leaned back casually in the chair and smiled, and she saw Jeremy stifle a grin. “Do you still want to work for me?” Anna nodded. She did. Well actually, she didn’t. She didn’t much enjoy working for Jeremy at all. She wanted to be in charge. And she liked him much better when he wasn’t in charge. But right now, her options were to work for him, or not. So she chose the former. “Good. You’d better get it into your mind to follow my orders then, and stop undermining me in front of the staff. It’s hard enough to keep kids of that age in line, without you giving them a bad example. Your father reckons I’m not allowed to fire you. However, I have his full support in doing whatever I want to gain your compliance, and he will not question my methods.” “And what methods will they be?” Anna asked sweetly, looking up at him flirtatiously. As her father had told her the exact same thing last night she wasn’t surprised, although she was curious as to how Jeremy thought he would force her to obey him. “Spanking.” Jeremy replied, a twinkle in his eye. “Spanking? Are you serious?” It was all Anna could do not to laugh. “Ah-ha. Spanking. I take it you’re familiar with the concept?” This time the smallest of smiles escaped Jeremy’s lips even though he fought to stop it – he’d grown up with Anna. He knew for a fact that she was very familiar with the concept of spankings. “Crikey, that will just about be worth being naughty for!” She skipped out of his office lightly, and as she did, Jeremy reached out and slapped her butt. “Ow you bastard! That hurt!” She shrieked at him, clutching the seat of her jeans in mock agony. Jeremy grabbed her arm and pulled her in close to him so he could whisper in her ear. “That was just light. The next one will really hurt. And if you swear again, you will find out just how much it will hurt.” With a wicked grin and another hearty slap, he let her go. She walked away quickly, rubbing the sting out of her bottom as she went.

D is for DECEIT
This A2Z Challenge is so much fun! Thanks for visiting!
I can't think of an action that deserves a spanking more than deceit. It's worse than disrespect, worse than blatant disobedience, and much worse than endangering oneself. It erodes trust and in my experience, can have life-long implications. Because I'm not willing to share my personal experiences of deceit, I'm sharing a snippet out of my brand new release instead:
“Because you deserve it. Reading my texts, sending a text off my phone while pretending to be me, then trying to hide the evidence, is deceitful. The message you sent was nasty, and not at all something I would write. And it wasn’t necessary. So yes, you deserve a spanking. But also, to remind you that I care.” ...
A few days later:
... “Yet you’re perfectly happy to upset me by spanking me unfairly.” She wanted to beat a hasty retreat, but she was hungry, and she knew she would have to face James sooner or later, so she thought it best to try and argue her way out of her impending punishment. “How is spanking you for deceit and unkindness, unfair?” James asked. Rachel shrugged. “It just is.” “That is the most pathetic argument I’ve ever heard. Come here, let’s get this over with.” James patted his thigh. Rachel shook her head and didn’t move. “Uh-uh. I’m not making this easy for you. If you want to be cruel, you can come and get me.” Then she took off running for her bedroom where she slammed the door behind her. Only a few seconds later James pushed open her door. “You really need to put a lock on that door if you want to keep people out.”

C is for CHESS
Welcome to my blog for this, the 3rd day of the #SpankA2Z Challenge I'm so pleased to have Ashe Barker visiting my blog today with her book "Unsure" :)
Hello, and thank you Kelly for inviting me over to your blog on the third day of the June A to Z spanking blog hop . Today, C is for Chess, a game I love and which was featured in my Sure Mastery series.
Anyway, back to the chess. I was in the chess team at school, and even captained our squad on one momentous occasion. A bit of background ... the boards are numbered 1-6 in descending order of player skill. The number 1 players are pitted against each other, as are the number 2s, the 3s and so on. Our team wasn't that good, we almost always lost. So, for a bit of an experiment, I switched everyone around. I put our number 6 player against their number 1, on the grounds that she would lose anyway. Our number 1 player though made short work of their number 3. In fact our top players won on all the bottom boards, and we drew the match.
The headteacher was livid, said it was unsporting. She may have been right. But I still maintain it was worth trying. I was never asked to captain the team again. Here's a snippet from Unsure, book one in my Sure Mastery series. Ashley and Tom are playing strip chess, a sport definitely not on the curriculum in my rather austere girls' school. Anyway, see how you like this version of the game.
A couple of minutes later Tom’s grabbed a couple of bottles of Budweiser from the drinks fridge in the corner of the room and they’re now opened, standing on the table beside the chessboard. Along with three condoms he’s produced from somewhere. Taking his seat opposite me again, he smiles at me, totally relaxed.“Three?” I ask, staring at the condoms.“Enough to see us through till suppertime. Probably. I’ve plenty more, though, if you’re feeling especially lively today. I bought in extra supplies with you in mind, Ashley.”Really no answer to that, so I settle for just blushing. He grins, and continues, “Ready to begin, Ashley? Okay then, the rules. For every chess piece of yours I take off the board, or every time I put you in check, you remove an item of clothing. Shoes count as one item. Same goes for me, if you take any of my pieces. Once one of us is naked—and, sweetheart, that’s going to be you—you continue to pay your forfeits by kissing me, until the end of the game. And if I checkmate you, when I checkmate you, I get to fuck you. Agreed?” I can only stare at him, still a little stunned at this turn of events, and not least at the fact that I’m actually intending to play.I’m not protesting so he assumes my silence to be consent. “Your move, Ashley.” And he sits back to watch me, and wait.

B is for ... BARREL RACING!
Thank you for visiting my blog for the #SpankA2Z June Challenge!
B was a particularly challenging letter to decide on. There are so many awesome words that start with "B". In the end, I wrote all my ideas down on little bits of paper and put them in a hat and got my kids to pull one out. After much fighting, they managed to pull out just one. Barrel racing!
Barrel racing is probably my favourite event in the rodeo. I love the bond between horse and rider, I love watching the cowgirls spin around those barrels in a figure 8 pattern at full gallop, I love the power and agility of the horses. I did it a bit when I was younger, on my farm pony, but we were never good enough to compete, so barrel racing at the rodeo has always been an elusive dream. I tell myself it will happen one day, but I'm not getting any younger, and I don't currently have a horse, so I'll live vicariously through my characters instead.
Below is an (unpolished, first draft) excerpt from my WIP Anna's Cowboy a sweet rural romance set in New Zealand:
They eyed the course for a few seconds, mentally preparing, tracing the outline of where they needed to run, then Anna spun Flicka around and they were in a full gallop in a single stride. The first barrel loomed closer and closer; Flicka took it at full gallop like a pro. The wind was whooshing in Anna’s ears and the roar of the crowd was deafening – Todd obviously had all his mates cheering for her out there! Before she knew it, the second barrel was upon them and they spun around it at lightning speed, Anna slipping just a fraction at the speed they were turning. Flicka knew what to do. Without even breaking stride, she continued at full gallop down the arena heading for the last barrel, needing no encouragement from Anna. It happened so fast it was a blur - she didn’t even remember taking the last barrel – but they must have, because the next thing she knew she was stretched out over Flicka’s neck, urging the mare on, literally flying down the home stretch. They skidded to a sliding stop to the wild applause of the crowd – Todd’s cheers the loudest – and most appreciated – of all.

Thanks so much for visiting! Here's the linky list to check out everyone else:

A is for Authoritative, Assertive Men ...
... Just the type of man I like!
Welcome to my blog, and for the first post of the June Challenge - Spanking A-Z
So what makes a man authoritative and why is it so attractive? Well, for some, I guess it's not. And if you fit that opinion, this blog post is not for you. But for me, an authoritative man is seriously sexy. Just that air of authority, exuding masculinity, oozing assertiveness, to me is so hot. He doesn't even have to be good-looking to be attractive; he already is. And if he's drop-dead gorgeous to boot, that's even better.
For a man to be authoritative, he's got to look the part. He needs to look tough, but be kind. He needs to be masculine, but a gentleman. And he needs to look manly, not be a pretty boy. He also needs to be big. Not obese big, (not that I have anything against obese people, my best friends are large, and I love them to bits) but I mean tall, broad shouldered, a strong frame; the kind of man who doesn't look like he will snap in half when he's throwing my 5'8" 65kg body over his shoulder. He needs to be capable of manhandling me. Not in a rough way, not to hurt me. But to assert his authority.
So I've been doing some research on the perfect, authoritative man. And they seem to be few and far between. I mean, there's my husband, but I don't share him. He's mine.
Where better to start my research than with Glamour magazine's 100 sexiest men? There's bound to be some authoritative men in that lot, right? Wrong. I have to say, not very many of them are in the least bit sexy. And even fewer of them look authoritative. Most of them are pretty boys, not manly men. And what is it with facial hair? I'm all for a bit of facial hair, it definitely has it's place. A bit of stubble on a strong, square jawline is hot. But on some men, it just looks wrong. Some men, authoritative, assertive ones, wear facial hair well. It gives them dangerous edge that is seriously sexy. But when pretty boys do it, it just doesn't work. It makes them look like they're playing at being commanding, and doing a really bad job of it. If one of those guys tried to order me around I'd laugh at him.
I asked a vanilla friend to describe to me her version of an authoritative man. "Christian Grey," she told me. I haven't seen the movie, but I've read the trilogy. So we'll go with that. Coincidentally (or maybe not), Jamie Dornan got the number 1 spot on Glamour's list. Is he really that sexy? I've certainly never thought so. I don't know that he really fits my ideal of "authoritative" either. In my opinion, Charlie Hunnam, at spot number 15, would have made a much better Christian Grey. He's edgy, dangerous, sexy, and very authoritative. I fell in love with him on Sons of Anarchy and more than once I wanted to jump into the telly so he could give me a spanking.
Actually, Chris Hemsworth, at spot number 13, would have made an excellent Christian Grey as well, although as far as I know, he was never in the running. I was in my late teens when I fell in love with him on Home and Away and I wanted him to spank me too ... this was back in the days when there wasn't a soul in the world who knew I was kinky, so I kept that little fantasy to myself.
It was the readers of Glamour who picked these un-authoritative men to be the world's sexiest. I don't read the magazine, therefore I didn't do the poll, so I guess I can't really complain that I don't agree with their choice. But the results do beg the question. Do most women secretly like authoritative men too? And that's why they voted for Jamie Dornan - because he played Christian Grey - who, to many vanilla women, is the epitome of authoritative man? I don't know. But I do know that when searching for pictures of sexy men to inspire my heroes, those authoritative men who exude just what I'm looking for, I'll be avoiding looking on Glamour's list and I'll stick to Pinterest.
Thanks so much for visiting my blog!
I'll leave you with (just one, I've got many!) the epitome of the authoritative, assertive man: Tim Daly as good looking gunslinger Johnny Gault in The Outsider. A man who, despite being my mother's age now (and therefore getting into the ewwww department) was once pretty hot, and should have been on Glamour's list, 20 years ago or so.
I'd love to hear your thoughts on authoritative men, and whether or not Glamour readers got it right with the world's sexiest men!

It's here!
Unfortunately, it's not here. It's *meant* to be, but there was a glitch. Hopefully it will be here soon!
Just in time for this week's Saturday Spankings - Rachel's Journey is finally here!
Here's 8 sentences from my brand-new book:
Instead of answering, James resumed the spanking, even harder than before. “I’m sorry!” she begged, desperate. She couldn’t take any more of this. Why oh why had she told James his spankings didn’t measure up to her brothers? This one had surpassed them easily, and James wasn’t showing any signs of letting up yet. “What are you sorry for?” James asked again, resting his hand on her bottom for a moment to give her time to think. “I don’t know!” Rachel wailed, utterly miserable.
Blurb:
Rachel was such a loser. Growing up with Tourette's Syndrome has taught her that. Who could possibly want someone who contorted their faces in bizarre twitches or snorted at random? Not even Mike, the man who had promised he loved her, had been able to put up with it. She broke up with him when she caught him cheating on her during their great overseas experience, promptly flying back home to hide and lick her wounds.James was the manager for the 850 acre farm she and her brother Simon had inherited. She liked James. He'd always treated her nicely, like an honorary little sister, and she'd had a crush on him forever. Not that she could ever tell him. She wasn't going to set herself up for rejection ever again. But when it seems that someone is out to harm her, can she count on James to come to her rescue?Set in rural New Zealand, this epic romance will thrill you and keep you captivated, enchant you with charming detail and inspire you, as learning to overcome adversity ultimately is Rachel's Journey.

And the excerpt: He grinned at her. Then his expression turned stern and he held her chin in his hands, forcing her to continue to look at him. “But if you ever put yourself down like that again, I will blister your butt so bad you won’t sit down for a month of Sundays. You got that?” She nodded. She believed him – she’d felt enough evidence to know he was fully capable of carrying out his threat! “You’re not supposed to spank the woman you love,” she told him, the gleam in her eye telling him she was just joking. “If the woman I love says such horrible things about herself, she will most definitely be spanked!” James assured her, planting another kiss on her parted lips. The kiss, and the promise of another spanking, sent tingles up her spine, despite the fact that her butt was still stinging from the spanking he had administered earlier.
Please keep an eye out for Rachel's Journey it is coming really soon, I promise!

After such a long wait (well it feels like it, but then I'm not known for my patience) Rachel's Journey is about to be released! And I am so excited!!
Here's the blurb and awesome cover. Is it normal to sit there staring at the cover? I love it!
Blurb:
Rachel was such a loser. Growing up with Tourette's Syndrome has taught her that. Who could possibly want someone who contorted their faces in bizarre twitches or snorted at random? #WIPITUP Rachel's Journey
Welcome to my #WIPITUP WEDNESDAY post for this week - James & Rachel are back!
Rachel's Journey is currently being edited, and is due for release soon! Hopefully at the end of the month, fingers crossed! :)
As you all know by now, I have a *thing* for cowboys. When I was younger I dated a bull-rider and I was always awed by the daring bullfighters who put their lives in the hands of their colleagues, to protect the cowboys. In his spare time, James is a rodeo bullfighter. Here in NZ the rodeo circuit doesn't pay enough to do it full-time, but we've got some pretty talented cowboys and bullfighters. The scene I share below is based on an actual event in a NZ rodeo which you can read about here if you want to :)
Although a newcomer, it was obvious James was a competent bullfighter, and he took his role seriously. He was dressed from head to toe in brightly coloured clothing – from a red ribbon tied around his cowboy hat, orange shirt, lime green shorts, right down to his long stripey socks. He’d even put fluorescent laces in his spiked sneakers that he wore to give him purchase in the dusty ground. His agility was impressive. She watched, her heart in her mouth, barely able to breathe, awed by James’ daring exploits. Attracting the bulls’ attention with his over-stated movements, he’d dart aside at the very last second, enticing the bull away from the cowboy who’d only moments ago been on his back.
Kara leaned over and took her hand, squeezing it. “He’s good, isn’t he?” she asked, smiling proudly. “He’ll be okay,” she reassured her, squeezing her hand again.
The next cowboy out was a young rider, only eighteen, who’d just broke open late last season, atop a huge black bull by the name of Bullet. Notorious for his fast exit from the chutes and killer spin, there were only a handful of cowboys who had managed to ride him in his four year rodeo career. Rachel didn’t hold out much hope that the young cowboy would be successful in his endeavours, but she wished him luck in trying, knowing that if he did ride the beast, he could potentially win the contest. James kept close to the bull, dancing and side-stepping, a fluid mix of athleticism, courage and speed. The crowd held their breath, riding along with the young cowboy, watching in anticipation the bulls’ corkscrew spinning bucking motion. Even the announcer was silent, watching what the pair would do, battling it out in the arena. “Oh!” The collective gasp went up from the audience, riveted to their seats, their eyes fixed on the action unfolding in the arena. Bullet won – the cowboy got bucked off in spectacular style – flipping forwards over the bulls head, doing a somersault in the air. Bullet caught him, tossing the cowboy sideways with his horns as he flew above Bullets’ head, then lowered his head to charge. The fallen cowboy was lying dazed and bleeding not far from the bull, and the enraged animal stomped his foot in the dirt, sending dust flying, before charging towards him, intent on doing damage. Instantly, James was beside the cowboy, doing his best to distract the bull, but Bullet was focused on his target and wouldn’t be swayed from his purpose. The other bullfighter came running in, waving his arms, trying to get Bullets’ attention. It was in vain. Just when Bullet was virtually on top of the cowboy, ready to ground him into the dust, James threw himself on the ground, shielding the cowboy with his body …

** TRAIL DRIVE SERIES - BOOK ONE **
Welcome to my blog, and this weeks #WIPITUP WEDNESDAY blog hop!!
I don't have a title for my historical western WIP yet, so I have to call it by the working title on my computer. Well I'm pretty sure it's going to be the the "Trail Drive series" but I haven't titled this individual book yet.
You may remember the last time I blogged about this story, Jessica and Johnny had been riding for two days and had just seen the dust from the cattle drive. In this scene, they finally come upon it, hungry, thirsty and dusty.
“We could use another man,” Mr Jordan said, scratching his chin. “We could use both of you actually. Can you ride miss?” he looked at Jessica. “Oh no.” Jessica shook her head, disgust dripping from her voice. “No way. I’m not staying with a bunch of filthy, stinking cattle men! Drovers smell! We’re not staying here!” She stomped her foot, sending a cloud of dust swirling up around her, making her cough. “I didn’t come all the way out here to play nursemaid to a herd of stupid cattle!” she declared between coughs. “I want to go home!”
Mr Jordan frowned, then turned away. “I’m sorry you feel that way ma’am.” He strode back towards the camp, his fists clenched tightly by his sides in anger. Jessica could feel the men’s eyes on her. Had they heard her? She hadn’t spoken that loudly, had she? Gulping, she knew that she had. Her objections hadn’t been spoken softly, purely for the benefit of Johnny’s ears. No, she’d shrieked her outrage loudly at the very idea of making camp with these men; they would have to be deaf not to have heard her.
She felt Johnny’s hand grip her arm then she squealed as he hauled her roughly up in front of him on his horse, draping her belly-down across his saddle, her body balanced precariously on his legs and dangling down either side of the horse, the saddle horn pressing into her side.
Check back again next time for more previews of Johnny and Jessica! I don't own these pictures. I stole them off my Trail Drive Series board on Pinterest
