The whole thing has felt like an episode from one of my favourite crime dramas. A seedy company. Their clients outed, but the larger questions of vigilantism, privacy, and the sliding subjectivity of morality hanging over the sensational news updates like a shadow…

Which means, trying to find motivation and energy to write and spend 8 hours a day sitting in front of a computer can be a difficult thing to do.
One of the things I’ve come to learn is that (for me) the productivity of my day depends on how I start it. If I start the day with a mix of early-morning-easy and moderate activity, it seems to energize me to sit through edits,...

Nice Quotes

“I say, ‘Get me some poets as managers.’ Poets are our original systems thinkers. They contemplate the world in which we live and feel obligated to interpret, and give expression to it in a way that makes the reader understand how that world runs. IMG_0027The downside has been the same as the upside: the trees. Over the course of two decades, they have grown, lush, full, gorgeous…and leaned on the fenc...

Great clip from interview

The Rev. John Black, of the Campbell Chapel AME Church in Bluffton, S.C., talks to NPR’s Arun Rath about grief, forgiveness and rebirth:

BLACK: Well, I think we’re at the point now of moving forward, so I’m going to start a sermon series on Sunday dealing with the symbol of the eagle. And the first sermon, of course, will be the eagle in the storm. It will be the beginning of calling us to our higher level of being, you know? We have two natures, and I want to call us to our eagle nature and...
