Sun, 12:07 : My weed of the day is "seemed". During continuity checks, found too many in Gryphon 1. It weakens sentences. Sun, 12:19 : How "seemed" weakens prose, example: There seemed to be a middling large container near the foot of the flight. Correction in next tweet. Sun, 12:20 : A middling large container squatted near the foot of the flight. --Squatted, way better verb than seemed. Sun, 12:34 : Half way trough my "seemed" weed of Gryphon 1, but unfortunately must leave computer now.

Thu, 14:17 : Diesel Ebooks website can't handle curled quotes or apostrophes even in book descriptions. Very annoying. Thu, 14:18 : I have to weed through all my descriptions, replace curled with not curled. Thu, 15:14 : During continuity checks for continuing R3, I was very happy with how the Bounds read on the reader, but not so happy with the Dispositions. Thu, 15:14 : Or the Gryphons. I realized that I often start an editing cycle on the Bounds, so they get the work while the mind is fresh. Thu, 15:15 : But by the time I get to the Gryphons and the Dispositions, I'm flagging. I want to do a quick -ly adverb weeding on those two sets. Thu, 15:16 : I know I should be looking forward, but it just irritates me too much. Thu, 15:17 : The nice thing about ebooks is you can correct them and repub quickly. Not true for print, unfortunately. Thu, 19:46 : I found a big poo of a sentence in Gryphon1 ch. 2. Will fix at end of continuity check. Thu, 19:50 : I am eating a peanut butter and cream cheese sandwich. Yes, it tastes good, but will add honey next time. Thu, 19:51 : Peanut butter and tomato on toast tastes good too.

Wed, 19:14 : Authors pay attention. Backup your stuff @Dropbox. http://t.co/c80gu8ma Wed, 19:17 : Yeah, we have the cloud now. Might as well use it. It's better than worrying about house fires destroying your computer and all hard drives. Wed, 19:18 : Yes, that's right. I'm that paranoid about back ups. I have a wood stove. Wed, 19:18 : Not that I'm using it now in the summer. Wed, 19:18 : And hard drives bust, yah know. Wed, 19:19 : You could also email yourself all your stories to one of your on line emails. Another form of cloud really. Wed, 19:20 : Plus I'm extremely tired of making DVD copies of everything. USB keys bust too. Or get lost. Wed, 19:21 : Or the memory on them gets corrupted. Wed, 19:21 : What? No. I did not lose my story files. I'm just paranoid and nicely passing on the fear. And a solution to it. Wed, 19:21 : Mwa ha ha.

Sat, 00:32 : Bound1 is on Kobo, and guess what? Kobo reader shows absolutely no italics font. I am not happy. Sat, 00:35 : If Smashwords staff ignore my latest query, I may pull the books. The Kobo version should have all the same font as the source epub. Sat, 00:40 : I'm borrowing my son's iPod to check a sample from iTunes. Sat, 00:55 : I'm happy to say iTunes, which received its source epub from Lulu, has all the italics. Sat, 00:58 : I can't verify the condition of the books on Sony. I need to find someone with the app on a tablet. Sat, 15:17 : Well, since I uploaded versions of my book to Lulu that do not rely on body text, but on normal, I'm worried how they will look on iTunes. Sat, 15:17 : So when the new versions are live there, I will borrow my son's iPod again to check. Sat, 15:18 : I'm annoyed with Kobo on the Playbook not showing italic font, which are very important to my story (characters with ESP). Sat, 15:19 : I would like to know if the actual Kobo reader does the same stupid stunt or if it's just a Playbook flaw, because the Kobo app continued Sat, 15:19 : ...app for the desktop shows the italics perfectly, but I've learned never to trust desktop readers. The devices are the acid test. Sat, 15:20 : Anyone out there have a Kobo app on their tablet (not a Playbook tablet), who can download the sample and check for italics? Sat, 15:28 : I have verified, using the desktop and the Kobo app on the Playbook, that it is definitely a fault on the Playbook. Sat, 15:29 : Other ebooks show fancy font on the desktop, but none on the Playbook using the Kobo app. Sat, 15:29 : There is nothing Smashwords can do about stupid code written by Kobo obviously. Sat, 15:37 : Sooo...I called Blackberry and asked the guy on the phone to talk to their programmers about updating their native Kobo app. Sat, 15:38 : Let's hope the fella really does let the programmers know there is an issue. Sat, 15:39 : Now I'll just wait and see if Smashwords ignores my request for help again. They can't help (already figured that out). Sat, 15:41 : But will customer support be rude a third time? It is rude. Not even an email to acknowledge I wrote anything to them. Sat, 15:42 : Read on another blog about wonderful Smashwords support. I'm not inclined to agree. Sat, 15:43 : On the plus side, all this formatting business set off another huge learning curve. I know way more than two weeks ago about styles and... Sat, 15:43 : .css and whatnot when it comes to epubs. Sat, 15:44 : After I have to do something like this, I always feel like my brain is ten times heavier. Wish I could draw that. Sat, 15:44 : Would be very funny. Or scary. Sat, 21:17 : @modernancientAB I may have misread it the first time. Sat, 21:43 : Well, I'm off early today. Have a good night all.
