Sun, 10:41 : I don't believe it was created to bombard you with feed from a bazillion people you really aren't paying attention to, so yeah, shaving soon Sun, 10:42 : And yes, I could of course get some sort of computer app that mutes everyone I'm not paying attention to, but why be dishonest. Sun, 10:43 : It's obviously dishonest to say you follow a bazillion people faithfully. I have a hard time following 127. I'm tweeting for readers, if they ever feel like dropping in. :-) Sun, 11:02 : And my daughter is finally up. I'm off this computer for now. Back to the huge continuity check.

Weeds

Ok, so The Gryphon Taint set are my oldest novels. I have to admit I was more excited to work on the later novels and let the Gryphons stew. Anyhow, I'm on G2. It, and the chronological novels after, will have the following word weeding applied prior to wrapping up R3. Excuse the messy format. This is directly from the notes I'm taking on my Playbook as I do the continuity check:

At once. At him, seem, gone, snap, snarl, took, taken softly, coldly, cold, whisper, whispered, blinked, carefully, suddenly
There are a few other words that crop up a lot, including a lot of eye action mentioned in an earlier post, but I shall do my best to reduce the worst of it. G2 is riddled with -ly suffix usage, some of it useful, some not.

Reading the epub versions has turned out to be a merciless way to spot the overgrowth. Highly recommended that authors use this method prior to hitting the publish button.

New review on Amazon

At last, a review for one of The Gryphon Taint set, book two in fact. Link.

See my last post too. I'm looking at whether I should lower prices to increase sales. Over on G+, I had one comment from T.D. Green (who left that wonderful review on Amazon--thank you, Tressa!) about some people thinking lower prices mean the author doesn't value their work, therefore why should the reader buy. What do you think?

Hrmmm, should I?

I've been looking at this blog post on Smashwords, wondering if I should do as this author did and lower my selling prices to 3 bucks. Feedback anyone? I don't like to upset my earlier readers by lowering prices after they forked out more bucks, but I'd like to get more sales, not that doing so would necessarily help get more sales. Maybe it would.

latest ramble

I still have family visits slowing my author work down, but school starts very soon. Eldest will go back to university, youngest will go to school and the others will be working.

Today is a bad headache day, this after three days of a very bad IBS attack. Haven't eaten much the last few days.

Health and visits aside, I have still been working on this very intense continuity check. Yes, did find another thing to correct on top of another major word weed. After this, I'm not touching the earlier books again except for minor corrections. Yeah, I know.  I've said it before. I mean it this time. I have to move forward despite how awkward I may have written six and more years ago.

For The Disposition of Ashes, I have decided to add a foreword concerning the exploration of bisexuality in men who don't identify as homosexual and who are biased against them. I keep recalling a reader complaint concerning the negative attitudes of my characters and I feel the need to explain this set. It is about prejudiced men in a prejudiced society. Even Herfod still justifies his motivations. I tried to show the complexity and growth of Ufrid and Herfod's relationship in a society dominated by a homophobic culture and religion. The epic was never meant to cater to an emotional fantasy of love without opposition, but love despite opposition.

The elder gods of my novels don't think twice about taking male lovers. It's not an issue. But they are prejudiced about other things.

Oh, and for readers who slow down on Gryphon 1 and 2 because Herfod isn't a main player, I hope I make it up to you in Gryphon 3. Some of my more emotional but favourite scenes are in Gryphon 3.

My thanks to those who recently purchased books on Amazon and Smashwords, and thank you also for the wonderful reviews of the Bound in Stone set.

If anyone wants to read Bound 1 free, here's a coupon, good on Smashwords only: NS24S
