Haven't edited since I worked for Freya's Bower and WCP. Mon, 13:24 : It's intensive work and I have this tendency to be very blunt, though I do try very hard to explain why I make the recommendations I give. Mon, 13:25 : I prefer a logic approach to editing and try not to rely on writing opinions (which I rebel against in any case). Mon, 13:27 : Recently saw a supposedly edited, crowd-funded, published novel with "laughed" used as a dialogue tag. Mon, 13:27 : I have to wonder what the editor was hired to do...or if the author listened after the editing advice was given. Mon, 13:28 : Authors don't always listen, says me, author. But since I smack my own self as an editor, I do sort of listen in a twisted fashion. Mon, 13:30 : My goal as an editor is to preserve or repair story logic, repair/remove useless repetition, preserve reading flow. Mon, 13:32 : I will and do buck the supposed writing rules touted by supposed writing know-it-alls if the word flow is decent and works. Tue, 10:20 : Yep. Got my first cheque from Amazon, and indeed, Amazon knowingly paid off the IRS 30% of my royalties. And I'm Canadian. Tue, 10:21 : How did the Canadian govt. manage to allow the IRS to apply tax rules in favour of thieving from their northern neighbours? Tue, 10:21 : And why is Amazon still being a dick about giving the necessary letterhead hard copy statement to apply for exemption now? Tue, 10:23 : And will the IRS pay me the interest they made on my confiscated money, hmm? Doubt it. Tue, 10:23 : And so I must wait until the end of the tax year and do a tax file with the IRS. Remember: I am Canadian. Tue, 10:24 : Let's hope the IRS doesn't try to dick me around asking for my passport just to do an tax filing with them. Tue, 10:25 : I'll be pissed if they do. I don't have one. It cost money to get one and they want my original mailed if I try to get exemption now. Tue, 10:26 : And if I don't send my original, they want a notarized copy by a specific notary. More money paid out to get my stolen royalties back. Tue, 10:27 : Thanks, IRS. You're sweet. Teaching me a lesson about legalized theft and red-tape legal minefields to navigate to recover my royalties. Tue, 10:28 : And now for my regularly unscheduled writing update. I thought of another plot angle yesterday while doing dishes. It's perfect. Added it. Tue, 10:29 : Also thought of another plot angle that fits and will add it today. The revamped R3 is shaping up very nicely.

Train was delayed because of a fatal accident; bicyclist crossed the track at very wrong time. :-( Tue, 15:35 : We ended up home at 3:30 a.m. Instead of before midnight.
