After the Snow

counter create hit

If we measure yesterday's snow in Milos, I'd say we have about two Milos of snow, with drifts up to four. It was an exciting day with the howling wind and driving snow, but today is dawning bright and sunny and quiet.  The wind has blown the snow into beautiful shapes.

It's a day to look around and marvel and then dig our way out.

Blizzard!

I guess I won't be going out to my writing shed today!

In fact, our porch is so full of snow I can barely get my front door open. Milo was not at all keen to go outside. Can't say I blamed him!

The snow is coming down and the wind is blowing so hard that I'm remembering a scene in one of the "Little House" books by Laura Ingalls Wilder. Pa tied a rope from the cabin to the barn during a blizzard so they could make their way back and forth by holding onto the rope.

Lucky for me (and them!), my own animals are comfy-cozy in the house with me.

Five Things on a Friday

Photo: 18 to 24 inches of snow?! But I'm only 13 inches tall!

1.  Milo says, "18-24 inches of snow predicted?!  But I'm only 13 inches tall!"

2.  The sales dept. at my publisher wants a new title for my next novel.  I was sorry to hear that because I find it very hard to come up with titles.  Still, it's never in an author's best interest not to please the sales people. So I'll try to think of something else today.

3.  On the other hand, my agent read that book yesterday and loved it.  So that made me very happy!

4.  I hurt my back this week, so I'm taking it easy. Milo likes cuddling up with me on the couch, though.

5.  I've closed my spring events schedule.  I have a very full March to May of school visits and other events, including four trips to South Carolina.  I've never been to South Carolina before, so I am making up for lost time!  :-)

February Blues

Yesterday was a beautiful day here in Maine. In between my errands and answering mail, I took a few moments to drive down to the water and look around and feel grateful for all of this.

Happy Groundhog Day!

counter create hit

Happy Groundhog Day!  In Maine our groundhogs are still hibernating. So today the role of Punxsutawney Phil will be played by Cookie, our guinea pig.

Weather Pig Cookie confirms Punxsutawney Phil's findings by not seeing his shadow on a speedy trip down the front porch steps and back.

Come, Spring, Come.
