Twittering away

I am now completely obsessed with twitter - it’s like facebook only much easier, one you get the hang of it. The thing that makes me laugh though, is the question: ‘What are you doing now?’

It is hilarious how many people take that literally. I have read hundreds of tweets saying things like:

going to get gas

driving on main street

got gas, back home

cooking pasta for kids

watching tv

etc etc.

Come on, people - we need to do better than that. I will say it’s pretty damn hard thinking of the fun stuf

I see a woof in your future…

I opened the paper the other day to discover there is a pet psychic coming to town. Clearly, there is a need for pet psychics in this town, or why else would she be coming, but I am deeply curious as to what she could possibly tell me.

I like to think my animals and I have a special bond. So deep, in fact, that I am fairly certain I know what they are thinking.

Samantha the Himalayan cat:
‘Water. Water. I need water. Find me water now. I will live in your bathroom if that’s what it takes. Go on, tu

Me? I’d rather have the YSL shoes…

On the back page of the latest Instyle magazine, is Eva Longoria Parker doing what looks like a regular questionnaire, where she dishes about her current obsessions.

I have to share some of them with you. I also have to precede what I’m going to share, by saying that I love the fact that she has taken her husband’s name publicly. I very much want to be Jane Green Warburg, but my publishers say it’s better to stick to Jane Green, and they’re probably right, but I do have a little bit of name envy

Happy Birthday, Beautiful Guru

We are just back from celebrating the Beautiful Guru’s birthday, at a wonderful dinner party at their house, and driving home through the country roads, Beloved and I mused about the lessons we can learn from friendship.

One of my most valuable is one taught to me by the Beautiful Guru a few years ago: that love is a verb. It is a lesson I have thought about frequently of late. That we must make time for our friends and the people we love. That thinking about them, and meaning to call, and assumi

BAD Author

I am a VERY BAD author. And a very bad blogger. Life has just got in the way, and inspiration seems to have got lost, and I promise I will try to do better with the updates.

On the work front, I have finished Dune Road/Girl Friday, and am now enjoying a little break, although I have a couple of events coming up to promote Chicken Soup for the Soul: Power Moms.

April 21st, 7:30pm - New Canaan Library, New Canaan, CT

April 28th, 6:30pm - Greenwich Library, Greenwich, CT

May 8th, 1-3pm - Lincoln Center

A class act

I picked this up at Perez. Couldn’t resist.

While defending Sarah Palin and her daughter Bristol’s pregnancy, Former Law & Order actress and avid Republican Angie Harmon said the following:

“one of the greatest things about the Republican Party is the understanding. We don’t point fingers and we have class.”

Just in case you missed that, I will repeat it.

“AND WE HAVE CLASS”

I…I…I don’t know what to say.

I am entirely speechless and my mind is boggling.

Sarah Palin, the also-ran for VP, has…cla…I can’

My bedside reading list

img_0765.jpg

Here are the current recommendations on my bedside reading list.

I just finished The White Rose by Jean Hanff Korelitz, which is a clever and rather lovely re-telling of the German opera, Der Rosenkavalier. The only thing I found slightly disconcerting, is that it’s entirely about my husband’s family. Well, not entirely, as the members of the family she writes about are fictitious - Marian Kahn and Barton Ochstein - but the author is very specific about which family they are members of, and it’s

I KNEW there was a reason why I felt so at home in The White House…

Today I received this message from Facebook:

Hi,

Barack Obama (Washington, DC) has confirmed you as his fourth cousin once removed on We’re Related.

Follow this link to see how you are related:

We’re Related Team.

Sadly, I have spoken to my mother, my father, my Grandmother, various cousins, and none of us can trace the family tree towards any Obamas. Not even in the same vicinity (any Obamas from Hampstead, London, please get in

Cowboy in the house

Twin B, formerly known as The M****c, announced the other day he was desperate for a cowboy belt. And boots. And hat. The hat was pushing it, I thought. I bought a cowboy hat once, in Aspen. As case of ‘when in Rome…’ I also bought lots of general Western fantastic cowboy-style stuff. (This, by the way, was post-Brokeback-gay-cowboy-phase). I strode round Aspen looking more Aspen than the natives and feeling fabulous. Then we flew back to La Guardia, and striding through the airport, I realised

KUSI-TV Good Morning San Diego…

In November I will be the Keynote Speaker at the La Jolla writer’s conference, and I’ve just been sent this video clip from KUSI-TV in San Diego.

You have to watch to the end because it’s hilarious. The newsreader is v. professional and quiet, letting Antoinette Kuritz review her books, and then right at the end they mention me, and she lights up and confesses she’s a huge fan. It’s adorable!

So if you’re a writer and you’re in the area, the La Jolla conference is clearly the place to be in Novemb
