So, want to hear how it went?

I know you do. This morning my children and I went to: Estate Agent The Bank Ice Cream pit stop (I'm not heartless) Shop to buy correct magazine Police Station (Boy says "They're a lot of police people here!") Library (Paint your own rock day) The children were about as well behaved as you can expect from my children. I say my children, because I know there are children out there who act like statue-esq android beings of goodness - but they are not related to me. No, I don't know why they beh...

I say bollocks to Monday!

A second post, I know. I'm sorry. But I need to vent and my choices right now are: A wall My children This blog The nice part about a blog rather than on the phone or sending an email is nobody feels obliged to do that "uh-huh" noise every so often, or send a reply. You all can drive through and we'll never speak of this again. Once again, this has been heavily edited. It is Monday. But school holiday. I have nasty errands to do on Tuesday, but today is not Tuesday so I decided to imitate a t...

Nestle and I are not friends

We haven't been for ages. Sadly, it is very difficult to figure out all the companies they've got their sticky fingers in. But some are obvious. These products do not enter my shopping trolley. Recently I was informed they have mended their ways and the baby formula thing is over. Not sure where this person got their information. Regardless, Bob's wife and Nestle now seem to be fantastic friends. If there is somebody I dislike more than the smarty-arses in Nestle, it is Bob and his gang. Kit ...

Peek-a-boo

I see you: Found languishing behind the driver's seat of Husband's bakki. Of course. Fortunately for the bank, I cannot visit them till Tuesday. Husband's work has put in a request to photocopying this shy little document first. They said alarming words like "forgot," "tax code," "hurry," and "fines" in order to que jump. The bank is going to be very sorry that they did not graciously fix their own error after admitting fault: I'm bringing two children with me, ages 2 & 4. One is not potty tr...

The bugger is in the details

and the details make you think. Despite the fact that banks are open Saturday morning I did not pay them a visit. The ID card has yet to be found. Maybe it ran off with the original office key, which is still MIA (we bought a new one). Husband's paycheck hit the one and only account I currently have access to. This means that on payday I have access to slightly less than 12 percent of "our" money. Obviously, as we pay things like rent and school fees, that percentage greatly diminishes as the...

My gun is bigger than your gun

Life is going as smoothly as driving over a dirt road with flat tires. In order to try to maintain "positive attitude" the children and I distracted ourselves with projects during the public holiday including a batch of pink playdough and jaffles (or as my children put it "big squares, not the little ones). But today is back to reality so off to the bank. . . or not. Even if the bank decides that husband's presence is not necessary, every one has made it clear that his ID book is essential to...

"Alles Van Die Beste" is out in Wordsect Issue 6

Or so I have been told :-) "Alles Van Die Beste" (All the best), published in Wordsect Issue 6, is a short story inspired by my own trip up the Outeniqua mountains with my niece, nephew and two children. But no, it is NOT about my trip up with my niece, nephew and two children. Sorry to disappoint. It is about a woman caught in a cultural tug of war, both in location and language. (Oh wait, that still sounds like me. Errr...I'm not Afrikaans...nor am I childless...just trust me on this.) Back...

Today has gone all wrong...

and as I sit here starting to type up this post, it is only 2:30pm. Brilliant. Today stinks. I am going to edit a lot out of why today stinks, which I am telling you so after you read all of this you'll go, "Wait, I thought she edited a lot of it out?" Exactly. My day is that crap that even edited it seems like a full day. Maybe it is because it started at 5am? Started at 5am because husband had to be at work that early. So then I tried to be nice. Which is always a...
