Musing

The Great Agony and Pure Laughter of the Gods, by Jamala Safari - The story hung in the air, coming back like a hiccup. - - The uniforms these boys wore swallowed their spirits as well as their bodies; they were slaves to a uniform they would never be able to take off - - Sleep still would not land in his eyes. - - The girls tood in shock with her mouth wide open, still holding the bottle in her hand, as the two boys ran away at top speed. -

On the nightstand

Divisadero by Michael Ondaatje - For I have taken myself away from who I was with them, and what I used to be. - - She was following a path of gorse. . . - - Otherwise his mind was this scrubbed table that could barely remember holding cups, or plates, or slices of bread, or a girl's tired head. - - They are a strange breed, clockmakers, some surly and insensitive to all save the machine about to whir into life, some uncertain as poets about their gift. -

Spring is in the air

Change is in the air. The daffodils and lilies have poked their heads out and bloomed, the birds are building nests and I haven’t had to drive the kids to school with my headlights on for over a week. I’ve been thinking about other changes, too. I started this blog because somebody told me to, not because I wanted to. That was probably not wise. They said it was good to have a ‘public face’ and would help with marketing. I’m not too sure that is true. Kind of always looked at this blog as the anti-marketing. It is full...
