Taking care of me

So if you are my husband, doctor, physio and brace maker or... you may be one of those people asking me, 'Are you doing too much?' Yes. And I'm back on pain meds. My left arm - aka The Good Arm - is now masquerading as The Bad Arm. 'Maybe you should...' I lost my temper on Monday and printed out exactly all I am doing to improve my health, everything I've given up in life etc... and tossed it at all these concerned people - who genuinely are concerned. In short: I am being asked to undergo a very...

Correction: SSDA competition

I made a wee bit of an error on the Short Story Day Africa Youth competition info yesterday. Any child who is a permanent resident or citizen of a country in Africa may enter. The advert has been fixed. I put the new advert in the original post, and you can also Download YA_KIDS Short Story Competition <---- here.

In the magnificent forest

I saw a crazy thing, to be honest. In the magnificent forest. A fox with wings. It just drives me things. So count to two And the sky will go blue. In the magnificent forest. - Thing 1 Beautement, age 7 M: How did you come up with that? T1: Well it had to be a maginificent forest. A regular forest wouldn't have a fox with wings, that would be ridiculous. M: Right. About that fox. T1: Well, you know wolves are my favorite animal. M: *Hastily tries to figure out the connection between wolf and a fox. Gives up.*...

Okay, yesterday’s post was a bit of a downer

I’m fine. Not perfect. But who is perfect? Exactly. I am fine. I have lots of great things in my life. Like chickens! Hmm…not the most uplifting photo. How about one of the dog? Now look at that. Pure, pure, happiness on the beach. You can practically hear Born Free playing in the background of that one. Anyway – Good news! Well, for me, anyway. I’m going to the Cape Town Book Fair to, er, gawk. These book events are kind of like my own private Hollywood. I sit there going ‘oooh, oooh that’s…’ and laugh like a loon (inside,...

Pity party for one, your table is ready

Bit blue last night. There I was, at the dojo, standing on the sidelines doing nothing. It was not a kicking day. ‘Maybe I should quit,’ I thought. Not for the first time. I mean, who needs to punch something? I walk about three kilometres a day on a very pretty route. That’s nice. I do it with my dog. He occasionally pulls the lead. That’s bad. I do no less than 3K because it helps my core stability. (That’s a necessity!) But must be careful not to walk incorrectly or I could cause problems in my knees, pelivis, shoudlers...

Does PBS still show Reading Rainbow?

All this Short Story Day Africa kiddie stuff has gone to my head. I found myself humming the old Reading Rainbow theme tune. My goodness, I haven't thought of that PBS program for years.
