Friday Night Dinner Xmas Special

Am very excited, as the Christmas Special of ‘FND’ is going out on Channel 4 on Christmas Eve at 10:30 pm.

When I was writing the episode, I wanted to give a flavour of what it’s like to be a Jewish family who like Christmas a bit more than Chanukah. I know it’s something I grew up with. There’s also a visit from dad’s mother – ‘Horrible Grandma’, plus we get to see Jim dressed like this…

Also, expect a little bit of pathos in the episode. Just a bit. Now all you have to do is make sure you’re back from the pub by 10:29. See you then

Super six-sided fun

When Peter Serafinowicz and I/me made the DVD to Look Around You series 1, we put a little hidden extra on it. It was a title sequence to a cartoon called The Hexagons. Peter somnehow taught himself to animate in about 2 days and made it. I loved it. Anyway, a guy called Duncan Robson (@dunkr on twitter) sent me a remix he made of The Hexagons. And it’s fab…

Speaker’s Corner, 1986

Many years ago, I used to visit Speaker’s Corner in London’s Hyde Park and basically watch a bunch of semi-loonies shouting. It was pretty addictive, particularly as there was always a bunch of guys who’d heckle all the speakers. Some of them were really funny. So, I was excited to come across this film about Speaker’s Corner from 1986, and recognise a couple of faces, most notably the podgy, posh chap – who, if I am not mistaken, once gave me a Nazi salute when I asked him directions to Marble Arch synagogue. Lovely.
