The wilds of Scotland, where romance heroes are born
I’ve been away this week up in the wilds of Scotland enjoying the clean fresh air, long walks, and lots of reading. It’s an annual trip I make with my husband to visit his parents, who live in a wonderful tiny coastal town surrounded by wild mountains, lochs and lots of wildlife.
Our trips to Scotland are always an excuse to get plenty of reading done for me. This time, I managed to read a book a day. I started off with Kiss of the Night by Sherrilyn Kenyon, then moved onto Sin Undone by Larissa Ione and Deeper than Midnight by Lara Adrian, and rounded things off by finally reading Wicked Nights by Gena Showalter. A good reading binge if ever I saw one!
I also took plenty of photographs and spent some time thinking about future stories that I’m working on at the moment. Snow was on my mind, together with my Bonded by Blood series I talked about recently on the blog. I didn’t do too much work when I was up there though. I just let the ideas come and noted down anything vital. Sometimes it’s nice to down tools and just relax, free from the pressures of daily life. It’s very different up there. The pace is much slower and it’s nice to only have to do two things – walk and read! I watched absolutely zero TV too, which isn’t like me at all.
Here’s some of the pictures from my holiday. I did see a man in full traditional kilt / clothing, but he was wearing the whole outfit… he wasn’t bare-chested!
That last one is Sammy the Seal, who is a resident lady and she likes to come into harbour behind the fishing trip boats and wait patiently for the punters to feed her their catch! I bravely ventured out on a fishing trip with my husband and mum in law, and I caught a single mackerel and a couple of small fish. We fed her the mackerel and she caught it and swallowed it whole! She’s very friendly. Apparently, if more than one seal comes into the harbour to swindle the fish off the tourists, she always manages to get most of the fish on offer. I saw her a few times around the pier.
Now that I’m rested and had a reading fix, it’s back to work for me. Editing Bewitch first and then planning my Bonded by Blood series for my agent. Busy bee!

The Alpha Male Blog Hop
It’s time for The Alpha Male Blog Hop hosted by Carrie Ann Ryan. The hop runs from October 19th until October 22nd, and my giveaway is international.
Since we’re talking about those sexy alpha males, I just had to dig out prizes that featured some very alpha heroes. My Vampires Realm series is packed with alpha vampires and werewolves, so what better series is there to offer prizes from. The books I’ll be offering as prizes in this giveaway hop are:
Hunter’s Moon
F E Heaton
The horror of the night he failed to save his werewolf pack from the cruelty of their vampire masters has haunted Nicolae for one hundred years, driving him deep into the Canadian wilderness in search of peace. That peace is threatened when unfamiliar hunters and the scent of blood lead him to a beautiful woman and a hard decision—face his past and help her or risk losing everyone he cares about again.
Bearing a heart filled with grief and with vengeance on her mind, Tatyana is intent on killing the hunters she’s tracking and returning to her vampire bloodline, but her plan didn’t include being shot with poisoned arrows or rescued by a glowering alpha werewolf who stirs forbidden hunger in her.
When the hunters make their move, will Nicolae be able to stop them before it’s too late? Will he be able to overcome the darkness in his heart and embrace his desire for a vampire? And can Tatyana face her fears and risk her life for the sake of forbidden love?
Masquerade
F E Heaton
Ten years have passed since Sophis and Vivek, two vampires of the Venia bloodline, came close to death at the hands of twin hunters Aleksis and Izabella Romanov. The events of that night turned Sophis and Vivek against each other, shattering their close friendship and driving them apart.
Now, on the eve of a centenary Creator Day masquerade and at a time when things between them are dangerously close to separating them forever, they uncover a small army of vampire hunters in Saint Petersburg, led by their nemeses, Aleksis and Izabella.
With the safety of the rulers of the seven pure vampire bloodlines in their hands and their chance for vengeance hanging in the balance, can Sophis and Vivek face their past and overcome their differences? Will they realise their true feelings for each other before it’s too late or will the hunters finally claim their lives as their deadly plot to destroy the bloodlines unfolds?
Now, on to the giveaway! Here’s what you can win:
PRIZES
1 x Signed paperback copy of Hunter’s Moon by F E Heaton, plus book goodies including signed cover postcards, bookmarks, romance trading cards.

Introducing a new vampire romance series – Bonded by Blood
I’ve mentioned a few times on my Facebook and Twitter that I’ve been working on a new series idea, and that it was another vampire romance series. Well, today I’m going to tell you all a little more about it. I’ve decided that it will be called Bonded by Blood as that suited the series the most and I think it has a nice ring to it. I’ve even succumbed to my urge to make a shiny graphic for it so when I’m posting about writing the series, I can include something nice for you all to look at.
At the moment, there is going to be three books in the series, because I’m writing it for my agent to pitch to publishing houses and three books works best for a series proposal. There’s room for the world and the story arc to expand though. I have seven heroes in total. Originally, it was going to be three with some other males included, but males who were more background features than hero material. Now, I’ve ended up with seven potential heroes. I know for definite who will be one of the heroes, as I’ve already started planning his book. He’s the first in the series, and his name is Kaden. His heroine is a lovely vampire female called Eliana, and she happens to be the younger sister of his best friend, so cue trouble there!
This is a world of vampires hidden from our eyes, living alongside us in the shadows. It’s the sort of world that I love to build, with a social structure and rules, and lots of high society and a divide between the elite and the lower levels of vampires. It’s also a world packed with other species, such as werewolves, demons, light and dark fae, witches and a few hunters here and there. I don’t want to say too much because it will give away stuff that I want to keep secret for now. Needless to say, it’s a big world, packed with suspense and mystery, plenty of twists, high stakes and intense emotions, and plenty of hot hot hot passion! Think Vampires Realm meets Vampire Erotic Theatre, and you’ll have an idea of what the series is going to feel like. The group of males the series focuses on are all warriors, determined to protect their species at any cost. Very sexy males indeed.
Would you like a little sneak peek? Is that a cry of ‘yes’ I hear?
I’m only working on the idea for the book and the series right now, but I do have a sketchy opening scene that I can share and hopefully it will get you all excited about this new series.
Sneak Peek – Blood Lust
Quinn was going to be the death of him.
Kaden knew it as the large warrior ushered the slender female towards him, their heads bent against the frigid wind that drove snow across the lamp-lit gravel drive of the mansion. The heavy fur-lined hood of her thick cream winter coat hid her face but waves of auburn spilled from beneath it and the scent that rolled off her had almost knocked Kaden on his ass when she had stepped out of the black limousine.
Quinn’s green eyes flicked to his as he passed, cold and empty of emotion but edged with steel, a challenge to Kaden to say something.
Kaden never had been able to hold his tongue.
He grabbed his leader’s free arm, stopping him in his tracks, and felt the male tense beneath his black wool jacket.
“Go on inside,” Quinn said, softness and warmth in his tone. Kaden couldn’t remember the last time he had heard anything other than a dark growl in his voice. Now wasn’t the time to have females running amuck in the house, and it certainly wasn’t the time to go soft.
Quinn turned to him, his glacial expression far colder than the numbing wind that battered Kaden through his navy roll-neck sweater.
“You brought your sister here when she’s needing?” Kaden didn’t hide the surprise from his voice. There wasn’t much point. Nothing slipped past Quinn. He would have felt the ripple of Kaden’s shock when Eliana had stepped out of the car and into her brother’s welcoming arms.
He probably hadn’t masked his jealousy all that well either. He hadn’t seen Eliana in years, but that time apart hadn’t lessened the ferocity of his desire for her. It was only the knowledge that Quinn would have his head if he so much as stepped within ten feet of his little sister that stopped him from hunting her down right now and kissing the breath from her.
Quinn calmly removed Kaden’s hand from his arm. “I brought her here because she is needing.”
The steely edge to his voice and his eyes warned Kaden not to push the subject.
“I have to remind you that this is an all-male house? Drake has never been near a female when she’s receptive to a male… the scent your sister is throwing off is probably killing him already.”
“And what about you?” Quinn said darkly, eyes assessing him now, making his skin crawl and a need to back down flash through him. “Is my sister affecting you?”
Kaden swallowed. Two options. He lied through his teeth to the one man who had ever managed to gain his respect, or he told the truth and had Quinn’s fist in his mouth before he could blink.
“I’m waiting.”
Did you enjoy that? I’ll be sure to share more as I write the book and keep you posted about my progress, and maybe add a few sneaky snippets here and there!

Her Demonic Angel
Felicity Heaton
A demonic angel with a heart of ice, Veiron walks a dark path with vengeance on his mind. Nothing will sway him from his mission to destroy his master… until he risks his life to enter Hell once more to save a mortal female. The fiery beauty makes him burn with hungers he must battle and needs he cannot deny, tempting him to surrender body and soul to her.
Erin is convinced her refusal to do the Devil’s bidding will see her die in a terrifying realm straight out of her nightmares. The last thing she expects is the lethally sensual warrior who breaks into her cell and awakens the darkest desires of her heart and a fierce longing to know the heat of his caress.
Pulled into an incredible world where war is set to ignite and darkness is on the rise, Erin races with Veiron to escape the Devil’s legions in a journey fraught with danger and filled with passion that flares white-hot.
When Erin is faced with a life-shattering realisation and an extraordinary destiny, will their love give them the strength to battle both Heaven and Hell or will they be parted forever?
Her Demonic Angel – Chapter Four
The last time Erin had spoken to him, it had been to point out that he jingled with each step and that, because he was apparently a guy who could move with stealth, it didn’t suit him. She had fallen quiet after he had touched the leather thong he tied his scarlet hair up with and told her that it was a gift from a lover, and that the two small bells attached to each end were there to ward off evil. A protection charm.
A short time after that, she had trodden on a sharp rock and had sworn at him and swatted his hand away when he had tried to help her and offered to carry her again. She had turned her nose up and hobbled on defiantly.
That had been hours ago.
Veiron wasn’t sure what he had done to deserve her wrath, but she was dishing it out like there was no tomorrow.
He walked a few paces behind her, close enough that he could easily intervene should anyone dare attack her and could touch her shoulder to direct her whenever she took a wrong turn, which happened often when she was in the lead.
Erin was nothing like he had expected her to be. He had pictured her looking like her sister, with silver-grey eyes and full breasts, and the sort of attitude that said she was in command and everyone had better fall in line or suffer the consequences.
The willowy woman storming ahead of him looked little like the one he had left in the jungle just a few days ago. She had the most incredible amber eyes, an impish nose and sensual soft full lips, curves in all the best places, and small firm breasts that promised to fill his hands quite nicely. Not a trace of make-up touched her face and she didn’t need it to enhance her natural beauty. Even with the smudges of dirt and the faint bruises, she was breathtaking and he was finding it hard to keep his eyes off her.
The lilac streak down the right side of her sleek black bob said that when she got out of Hell and got herself dressed, it would be in clothes similar to those he preferred.
No pretty colourful summer dresses and cute pumps for this woman.
She would go for all black and utter rebellion to match her hair and that sassy attitude of hers. When he had finally found her cell, having almost freed the wrong woman, something he would be having words with Amelia about later since she had failed to adequately describe her sister, and had opened the door, she had faced him with defiance in her eyes that had almost masked the underlying fear. She had asked whether he was there to kill her and the set of her jaw and tilt of her chin proclaimed that if he was, she was damn well going to fight him. Layers of filth, some bruises, and dark circles beneath her eyes spoke of what she had been through during her captivity but he still couldn’t believe that she had survived the one thing that would have had most people on their knees.
He had almost choked when she had told him the Devil himself had come to see her.
The bastard normally stayed closer to the centre of the pit, safe in his fortress, only venturing out when bored to torture any poor soul that happened to pass by.
Erin had fire in her all right. Not the uptight and I’m-the-boss sort that Amelia had. No, Erin’s attitude was all defiance and fight, strength and determination to survive.
When Veiron had called her weak, she had looked as though she had come close to slapping him. He couldn’t imagine the hell she had given the Devil. The man had a tendency to try to bargain and Erin didn’t look like the sort his bargaining would work on. He hoped the bastard had come away smarting and with his pride thoroughly dented.
Veiron smiled and checked himself when his gaze slid down Erin’s spine to her backside, the black tank and shorts combo almost doing him in. He wished he had been the one who had taken her from her bed. He had heard the rumours while travelling through Hell to free her. The Devil had sent one of Veiron’s kind to retrieve her in the dead of night. Mercy, he would have had a hard time carrying out that command. Take her from her bed and bring her down to the Devil? Hell, he would have just taken her.
He looked off to his right, using his senses to track her instead and shoving aside thoughts of bedding her. The area they were passing through was quiet enough but they were coming up on a rough one inhabited by countless lower forms of demon that had a taste for human flesh. He would have to keep Erin close to mask her mortal scent with his own immortal and demonic one.
Erin grumbled and hopped a few paces. She raised her right foot, catching it in her hands and bending forwards so she could see the sole. Veiron cocked his head to one side, appreciating her graceful form, and then told himself that as soon as Erin was safe, he was leaving. He had only agreed to come for her because Amelia had gone all weepy on him and Marcus had given him a black look that promised pain if he refused her request to save her little sister. Once Erin was back in her arms, he would resume his pursuit of the one thing that had kept his cold heart warm these past few centuries in Hell.
Revenge.
As an angel, he had lived by the same creed as the rest. The mission was what mattered. He had never felt any allegiance to those words until recent years. Now the mission was all he could think about. It was all he dreamed about. Hunger for vengeance lived in his veins, keeping his heart pumping and his feet moving forwards.
It wouldn’t be satisfied until he had the Devil’s head on a spike and had shaken Heaven to its foundations.
Until that moment of victory was his, Veiron wouldn’t rest.
And he certainly wouldn’t get involved with a mortal female. As tempting as she was, he wasn’t what she needed in her life. He could never give her what she needed and she would be a complication that he couldn’t afford. A weakness. A need to protect her had been steadily building inside him since he had opened her cell door and set eyes on her. That need included protecting her from himself. She had been through enough in the past few weeks. As soon as she was with Amelia, he was gone, out of there. Danger followed him everywhere, constant and unrelenting, and he wasn’t about to drag a mortal female into his life and into the path of that.
Erin might think she was strong, but in his world, she was weak. A kitten. A baby. She wouldn’t last five seconds against the lowest form of demon in this realm, let alone the beasts that hunted him on a nightly basis.
She would become a pawn, something they could use to distract and weaken him, and that was something he didn’t wish on anyone.
No. The sooner Erin was out of his life, the better it was for everyone involved.
His back shivered, the scars where his wings hid tingling with the memory of that soft sweep of her fingers.
She had just had to touch him, hadn’t she? He had noticed from the moment he had stormed into her cell that Erin was as forward about being forward as he had ever seen. Hell, she was so far ahead of forward that forward looked chaste and innocent. The heat of her gaze on him had been hard enough to handle but when she had dared to run her hand down his bare back, he had felt her touch as a fifty thousand volt shock.
His wings had pushed for freedom and it had taken every ounce of his considerable willpower to convince them it would be a bad idea. Very bad. One tiny crimson feather emerging from his back would be enough to send a warning straight through Hell to his former boss, alerting him to Veiron’s exact location in his domain.
But damn, it had felt good.
He couldn’t remember the last time a woman had caressed those lines. He wasn’t sure there was a time. Not the way she had done it, gently following the scar tissue with her fingertips, curiosity and a dash of desire in her touch.
Veiron blew out his breath.
Just thinking about it had his wings pushing and his head spinning off to imagine her running those fingers over his feathers.
Veiron stared at her. She bandaged her foot back up with the black material and then looked over her shoulder at him. Her bright amber eyes met his, sending a hot shiver through his blood that only increased in temperature as her gaze slowly fell to his bare torso and her pupils dilated. She glanced away a split second later and started walking again.
That wasn’t the first time she had given him the wicked once over and then darted her attention away from him. She had done it countless times in the past few miles alone and he had the distinct impression that he had done or said something that had made her feel as though he was not for her.
Which he wasn’t, but he wasn’t averse to her thinking that he was throughout the duration of their journey because she had been a lot more talkative and better company during his first hour of knowing her. They had days of walking before they reached the gate where Amelia waited on the other side. He really didn’t want to spend it with Erin blowing hot and cold on him. He had never been a fan of the silent treatment. He didn’t have the patience for it and trying to figure out how to get the woman to speak to him again twisted his head in painful knots.
What had he done or said that had altered her so dramatically from the woman who had given him heated looks that openly declared she was interested in all things Veiron?
A few things came to mind, most notably the moment where he had revealed that he was a local.
If the demon thing didn’t sit well with her, what the hell was she going to make of her sister and Marcus? They were technically part-demon now.
Veiron drew his sword and stalked forwards to catch up with her.
She jumped when she saw the sword and edged away, placing some distance between them on the narrow black path.
“Stay close,” Veiron barked, his patience wearing thin and the fragile tethers holding his considerable anger over the whole situation, and Erin’s behaviour since his revelation, at bay close to snapping.
She didn’t argue this time. Sweet mercy. The woman might just live to see the mortal realm again after all.
At least, he might not kill her.
Her gaze burned into his profile. He slid his dark eyes to meet hers out of their corners and she blinked, her own eyes going wider. Startled. She didn’t look away though.
“I’m tired, I’m hungry and I’m thirsty.”
This was just what he needed. Complaining female was right up there with weepy on the list of things that lit the touch paper of irritation that could easily detonate the fifty-kiloton bomb that was his anger.
“Tough luck. We can’t rest here.”
“My feet hurt.”
Veiron frowned, what little pride he had telling him he wasn’t going to let this one slip. “I offered to carry you. You refused. Again, tough luck.”
“You’re not very nice. I really can’t see what Amelia sees in you,” she snapped and her cheeks blazed. Her gaze zipped to the path, so her black hair fell forwards and obscured her face.
“What Amelia sees in me?” He stopped, aware that he was contravening his own rules about not resting. It wasn’t a rest. It was a pause. A brief punctuation in their trek so he could figure out what the fuck she was babbling about.
Erin kept her gaze downcast and wrapped her arms around her slender frame. “As a lover.”
Veiron spluttered. Not the manliest thing he could have done given the situation but what she had said, and what she clearly thought, had him reeling so hard he was surprised he didn’t fall on his arse.
“Lover?” he said with so much disbelief that she finally looked up at him.
Her amber eyes were huge against her dirty face. “You’re not lovers?”
He shook his head. “No way. No. Marcus would break my balls if I so much as looked at her sideways and she’s not my type.”
Veiron’s eyes disobeyed his direct command not to take Erin in from head to toe. They roamed over her, liking what they saw. Forbidden. Off the menu. He was not looking for a romantic entanglement. He was looking for revenge.
Besides, Marcus would probably kill him for looking at Erin too, even though she was definitely his type. Smart-mouthed, sassy, and bewitching.
“Who’s Marcus?”
Amelia really needed to keep her little sister in the loop. “Amelia’s lover… boyfriend… hell, he could be her husband for all I know.”
Erin’s eyes managed to go a little wider. “She would have told me if she had married. But you said that if Amelia died, you would too…”
Hell, Veiron could see where she had gotten the impression that he and Amelia were lovers now. So was this why she had gone from giving him ‘come hither and let’s party despite my hellish surroundings’ looks to withering glares?
“I was speaking literally,” he said and her frown didn’t lift. “It’s a long story and not one for here. We have to keep moving.”
She didn’t look as though she was going to heed that command. There was no way in this realm that he was going to stand around in the open and attempt to explain, without making him sound more terrifying than she already thought he was by just knowing he was a demon, the whole situation with himself, Amelia and Marcus.
Veiron grabbed her arm and started marching.
Mercifully, she didn’t protest. She kept pace beside him, her gaze boring into the side of his face, burning with questions that he really didn’t want to answer.
If she didn’t like the idea of him being a demon, how was she going to react when she discovered that he was like the one who had taken her from her home and dragged her down into Hell?
Veiron vowed that it would never happen. He couldn’t use his powers in Hell without alerting the authorities so there was no reason for her to find out exactly what sort of man was playing her bodyguard. As soon as he got her safely topside, he would say a few choice words to Amelia, tell Marcus that he could go to Hell on the rescue mission next time, and would get as far away from Erin as possible and as quickly as he could without his wings.
Heck, he would sprint through the jungle and not stop until he reached the nearest airport.
And he would never set eyes on Erin again.
It was how it had to be.
Because a woman like her could never love a demon like him.

Sexy Snippet
The beast prowled past her, flicking a glance in her direction, and she ducked behind a wall at the bottom of the stairs, pressing herself flat against it and holding her breath.
“I know you’re here,” he snarled, voice thick and dark, laced with venom. Her heart did a fluttering flip in her chest and her legs trembled in a bad way. “When I find you, I will kill you… slowly.”
The grim note of amusement in his final word said he would come good on that threat and he would enjoy it too. Varya swallowed. She had no desire to become this man’s ragdoll. He didn’t need to threaten her aloud for her to know that her demise at his hands would indeed be bloody, painful, and nothing short of Hell.
It would make Hell look like Heaven.
He growled and stalked closer.
A door opened and closed.
Her senses popped and the hairs on the back of her neck prickled, sending a shiver dancing down her spine.
“Found anything?” That deep masculine voice was pure honey, accented in a way that was ambrosia to her ears and had her melting against the wall.
Gods. He sounded more delicious than she could ever have prepared herself for. She closed her eyes and willed him to speak again.
“Nothing,” the beast growled and huffed, snorting like a wild dragon. “I will find it, and rip it limb from limb.”
“Antoine wants it alive, whatever it is. We’re not allowed to kill it, Snow.”
It? That stung. He had set eyes on her, had clearly felt the same intense jolt that had rocked her, yet he was calling her an ‘it’.
She had half a mind to step out from her hiding place and confront him, but her self-preservation instincts ran too deeply for her to ignore them and do anything so foolish. She pressed the back of her head against the wall.
“It is in here somewhere.” The one called Snow moved again and she tracked him with her senses, fearing he would find her. Snow. A strange name for one so impure and evil.
“I have this. Check in with Payne and Javier. Tell them we know where it is. Payne said he knew a way of flushing it out.”
Oh, Hell, he wouldn’t. If Payne was the bastard she thought he was, she wasn’t going to wait for him to show up. Snow grunted and the door opened and closed again.
“I know you’re in here, so you might as well just show yourself, whatever you are. You understand, Chica?” Her vampire’s sexy voice rumbled through her, making her shivery and hazy, and his words took a few seconds to register.
She did understand. He wanted her out in the open and visible to him so he could go ahead and take her into custody for the one he had called Antoine.
She wouldn’t let him take her in, refused to let anyone capture and enslave her, but she did want to see him again, and with Snow gone to fetch the bastard and the one she suspected was this man’s brother, she only had a limited window in which to do that, get her taste, and get out.
Varya stepped out from behind the wall.
The vampire stood in the middle of the double-height black-walled room, his deep blue eyes scanning the area around him. He was searching for her still. She let her glamour slip just enough that she would grow stronger on his acute senses but not enough that he would see her.
His gaze shot straight to her.
Interesting.
He had found a way to pinpoint her. Is that what he had been doing when he had stared at her for those long minutes after she had made herself invisible in the private box? Putting her to memory and training his senses to make them accustomed to her so she couldn’t hide from him.
Devious son of a bitch.
His aura darkened even as his eyes brightened, his pupils enlarging to show a trace of desire.
“Reveal yourself.” Those words rolled off his tongue in a sultry bass voice created by the gods for setting women’s hearts aflame.
His aura showed no sign of the conceit that the male performer backstage had worn. This vampire was far more handsome, worthy of a little male pride in his aura, but it remained black and unreadable.
Varya lifted her glamour and shimmered into being just two metres in front of him. Out of arm’s reach. If he tried to lunge for her, she would disappear in a flash. She wasn’t sure where in the theatre she would end up, but any place was better than locked in the grasp of a man who wanted to hand her over to his master.
His pupils widened, edging further into the deep sea blue of his irises, and his nostrils flared.
“What are you?” he said and exhaled a soft curse when their eyes met.
That same blood-heating jolt she had felt on first locking gazes with him rocked her again and she had to take a step backwards to steady herself. Her hunger came upon her so swiftly that it almost knocked her flat on her backside and it must have shown in her eyes because the vampire changed. His irises burned as red as the flames of Hell and his pupils narrowed and stretched, becoming cat-like.
He snarled, sensual lips peeling back off enormous fangs.
A flicker of red punctured the black of his aura.
Passion?
Varya stood her ground, legs trembling and belly heating with desire in the face of the explosive combination of his anger and arousal. She didn’t understand why she couldn’t read his aura or what it meant, and she didn’t care.
She wanted a taste.
Before he could launch an attack on her, she teleported herself right into the danger zone, not settling for even a few inches between them. Her body pressed into the delicious hard contours of his and she looped her arms around his neck, buried her fingers into his thick brown hair and dragged his mouth down to hers.
A white-hot bolt struck her right down to her soul and she gasped.
He echoed it and grabbed her waist hard, pulling her roughly against him as his mouth claimed hers.
Varya’s head spun. She had died and gone to Heaven, a place beyond the reach of all fae. This man was her Heaven.
His mouth mastered hers, forcing her into submission, tongue plundering and leaving her breathless, until she felt as though he was the one feeding on the energy that crackled between them, not her. Her hands slipped to his strong shoulders, feeling the hard muscles beneath his soft black clothing, and she frowned, the taste of him so divine that she didn’t want to give him up. There was no reason this man should be forbidden. Gods. Every one of her clan should be searching for their own shadowed male.
She could live forever on the taste of him.
He turned and shot across the room with her, slamming her violently against the wall, his body delicious steel against hers as he pinned her. Varya leapt up and wrapped her legs around his waist, hooking her feet together and dragging him closer to her, until not a single molecule of air existed between their bodies. He snarled into her mouth and ran his hands up her calves, past her over-knee stockings, and teasingly light along the underside of her thighs. His palms grazed her buttocks beneath her skirt, sending a hot shiver bolting over her skin, and then he clutched her backside, squeezing it as he kissed her. The feel of his strong hands palming her bottom, fingertips pressing in so hard she was sure he would bruise her, increased the inferno raging out of control inside her. She let slip a moan of pure pleasure, unable to hold it in. This man had been made for her. The way he dominated her, his passion and roughness, not to mention how damned hot he looked, everything about him called to her, excited her, and she was powerless to resist.
Varya melted into him and turned up the heat at the same time, matching his ferocity stroke for stroke as her tongue duelled with his and she raked her nails over his scalp. He snarled into her mouth, a hungry feral sound that sent another shiver of pleasure skating over her skin, and rocked his hips into hers. Oh my. Her heart fluttered and heat pooled in her panties. The feel of the hard hot length pressing divinely against the apex of her thighs had her writhing in his arms, mimicking his rocking and meeting him grind for thrust. He groaned and tightened his grip on her, holding her hips immobile, and pressed his hard cock against her. His breathing came out in rough ragged gasps between kisses. Not just his breathing. She panted too, breathless, but she couldn’t stop. Did he feel as desperate as she did, as though this kiss was as vital as air? No. More vital. She felt as though she would die if he stopped. It was intoxicating, drugging, addicting, and incredible. Lost in the fathomless depths of the passion that blazed between them, pleasure so consuming that she swore she had never experienced anything like it before, Varya couldn’t stop herself from stealing some of his intense energy through their kiss.
He turned with a snarl and shoved her off him so viciously that she flew across the expansive room, smacked into the wall near the staircase and crashed to her backside on the floor.
Shock rushed through her, cold, fierce and startling.
What the hell? No man could withstand her kiss. He should be putty in her hands, hands that wanted to touch every delicious inch of him, not standing there pinning her with a thunderous look that warned if she came near him again he would forget what his master had ordered and would kill her instead.
Varya stared at him in silence, her chest heaving in time with his, struggling to catch her breath and make sense of what had just happened. The vampire’s red eyes and black aura gave nothing away, concealing whatever he was feeling as he glared at her, his hands fisted at his sides.
Were they fisted because he wanted to strike her?
Or because he was resisting touching her again?
“Andreu.” The door burst open and the blond bastard entered, jogging to a halt beside her vampire. He turned cold slate-grey eyes on her.
Varya hissed at him and disappeared.
Wind buffeted her as she set down on the rooftop of a building across from the theatre, breathing hard and still reeling. She wrapped her arms around herself, rubbing her bare skin to keep the sudden chill off it. The warmly lit sandstone building of the theatre shone like a beacon in the darkness, the six columns of the facade supporting a triangular carved frieze that lent it a very elegant air. Varya focused beyond the walls even though she knew her senses wouldn’t be able to locate her vampire.
Andreu.
There was no way he should have been able to resist her like that.
There was something different about this vampire.
She wanted to know what it was.
She wanted to know why he was forbidden.

A visit to Catalunya, home of some of my vampires, and my Spanish translation of Her Angel series
I spent the weekend in Catalunya, a beautiful region in the north east of Spain (although, Catalans would prefer they were their own country, but that’s a lot of politics and I don’t want to get involved with it). I’ve been to Barcelona many times and it has a special place in my heart. It’s also the home of a few of my vampires, both ones you’ve met and ones you’re yet to see on page. Javier and Andreu, the brothers from my Vampire Erotic Theatre series are from the region, and it’s Andreu’s intent to open his own erotic theatre in Barcelona one day. There’s also a vampire in the Vampires Realm series who lives in Barcelona, in the Barri Gotic (gothic quarter), and you’ll meet him in the series someday.
When I was in Barcelona, the husband insisted we go into a bookstore. I knew what he was up to and I figured it wouldn’t happen. He wanted to find my Spanish translation of the Her Angel novellas, published by Booket. Surprisingly, he actually found a copy in the romance section of the store. We had looked in a really big department store before, figuring I had a better chance of finding the book there than finding it at a smaller independent bookstore. Well, I was wrong. Hubby tracked down a copy in the smaller bookstore and it was exciting to see it there, although embarrassing when he decided to make me pose with the book! I think he was more excited about it than I was… but then, that’s probably because he wasn’t the one who had to look like a crazy lady, posing next to a book!
Not my best picture, and it still freaks me out that Spanish publishers like to have the title / author name running the wrong way up the spine, but cool to see my little book there.
When we were in Catalunya, we also went down the coast to the seaside town of Tarragona. My husband had always wanted to see Castellers, which are teams of people from different towns who create human towers. It’s awesome, and dangerous, and involves everyone from burly men to tiny little girls. I’ll include a picture so you can see it for yourself. We went to a big competition where 20 different teams were competiting at once inside the former bull ring (now an arena) in Tarragona. It was amazing to see it in real life. It’s a very Catalan tradition, but I’ve heard that it also takes place in other regions, such as around Valencia. There were a few instances of falling towers and young girls bouncing off the heads of the men/women who form the base. I don’t think anyone was seriously hurt though. Those towers can get extremely wobbly! This one was a success though. Tower was built and deconstructed perfectly.
I also got to indulge in a multiple foodgasm, having cinnamon (canela) ice cream on three different days over the weekend! Yes, multiple foodgasms are possible for women.
In other news, more related to books and writing, and reading, I managed to get through Larissa Ione’s Ecstasy Unveiled. I wasn’t very taken with it. I swear, half of the book was spent in heads other than the hero or heroine, and that just didn’t work for me. I like books where we get the odd chapter here and there with another character, either one we have had as a hero/heroine before, the book’s baddie, or a future hero/heroine, but this was too much. It made me feel as though she didn’t really have much to say about the MCs and their romance!
I finished the book on the plane and began working again on an idea I’ve had for another vampire romance series. I’ll be writing this one for my agent in place of the Guardians of Hades series. I have some fantastic ideas for it, and some fantastic characters too, so keep your eyes peeled for more news on this one!
