Cynthia Roberts
(Love Song Standards #1)
Publication date: January 28th 2016
Genres: Adult, Contemporary, Romance

Pamela Landers had it all, a senior partnership with a top law firm, expensive car, and a luxurious condo. What she desired most was a loving husband, children and a life filled with precious memories that would comfort her through her golden years.
Funny how fate has a way of steering you down that path where dreams really can come true. When Pamela encounters Gavin Templeton along her journey, she has some life-altering decisions to make that eventually lead her to happily ever after.

Grab your copy for 99¢  for a limited time offer!—EXCERPT:Her next move was brazen as she stood on tippy toes and entwined her arms about his neck. She drew his head down to touch her lips to his, and he did not resist.
His hands roamed up the small of her back, following the seductive outline of her waistline, leaving a blazoned trail of sensations in their quake.
Her insides quivered as his mouth warmly opened and his tongue worked its way insider her mouth.
He took her face between his hands and aroused her with long, ravishing kisses, bringing to life a passion that had been dormant for far too long.
The cold Winter night did not chill her wrapped in the warmth of his embrace. Even the silvery moon that glowed overhead cast a radiance over the newly fallen snow and the couple.
She hungered for more than just kisses and knew that he could carry her to heights of ecstasy she never experienced before. She knew by the way he kissed and worked his magic over her that he was a man expert in loving a woman.
Pamela forced herself to sever their tie. As much as she wanted him in her bed, she could not rush into anything she would be sorry for later.
“You sure know how to kiss a woman, Gavin Templeton,” she exhaled as she fumbled in her purse for her keys.
“The pleasure is all mine,” he rasped.
He lifted her chin with the tip of his finger and looked at her warmly.
“I’d love to see you again, that is, if you feel the same”
“I would love nothing more. I’m starting back to work on Monday and going to take it slow at first. My schedule needs to be reworked and I have to prepare for a major case I’m committed to.”
Pamela looked away shyly for a brief moment and gathered Gavin’s hands in her own, drawing them to her breast.
“Law has been my life 24/7. I would love a reason to change that. I’m a little mystified by the way fate has brought us together. I also don’t want to rush things between us. I hope you don’t mind.” Her eyes pleaded for his understanding. “There’s so much I don’t know about you, and you me.”
Gavin grasped her by her shoulders and kneaded them softly.
“I’m not a love them and leave them kind of guy. I’m attracted to you and not because you saved my life. I was drawn to you the moment I laid eyes on you. I’m fine with slow. I can be very patient when I have to.”
Pamela’s eyebrow quirked playfully.
“Well,” he interjected, joking. “To some degree.”
She laughed and he drew her into his arms. When she tilted her head back to gaze into his eyes, he captured her lips once again and she moaned softly with pleasure.
He broke the kiss and smiled knowingly at the sound she made.
“Slow, hah?”
She jabbed his rib playfully and replied, “You keep kissing me like that, and that could change.”

Please feel free to visit my website http://www.romanceauthorcynthiarobert... to read some wonderfully touching reviews and the direct links to them all.
My love of reading romance fiction goes back to those early years when I was raising a young family. It wasn't until much later in life I actually took up the pen to write and my first historical romance, Wind Warrior was born. I don't fit into one specific genre. When the ideas start to flow, lord only knows what category they'll fit into **wink wink **
I wish I could have gotten to this point in my career much sooner rather than later but, life simply got in the way far too many times. Because of those multiple detours, however, I have become a more passionate and expressive writer and can draw upon those painful moments in my past when I need to create the kind of raw human emotion I want my readership to feel.
It is my hope my readers walk away with not just an entertaining read but the importance in knowing, "Without imagination & dreams, we lose the excitement of wonderful possibilities."

#Review: FIRST POSITION by Melissa Brayden

  4 of 5 stars
Have you ever worked your entire life to achieve something only to have it taken away in an instant? Anastasia Mikhelson, a principal dancer with the prestigious City Ballet, is beyond fuming with newcomer, Natalie Federico, a free spirit,  is hired to share a lead role in a new ballet. Natalie had trained with the City Ballet school when she was younger, but quit when she realized that she was not suited to the rigid technique and form needed to become a prima ballerina. Now cast together, these two must learn to meld their styles--Ana's precise technique with Natatlie's passion--and dance like they've never danced before.
From the first day, sparks fly and not in a good way. Ana cannot believe that Natalie threw away a chance to train with City Ballet and yet, here she was being cast as a principal dancer. Life wasn't fair and Ana wants nothing to do with Natalie. I found both characters to be believable and could immerse myself in their world. Ms. Brayden does an excellent job of letting the reader in to each girl's head. While each girl begins to have an effect on each other, I could feel their pain, anguish and triumph. I've loved stories about the world of ballet and "First Position" is a wonderful peek inside this world. No spoilers here--read the book and find out what happens when opposites are thrown together and sparks fly. Recommended.
I received a copy of this book for a fair and honest review.

#Excerpt: MR. CORPORATE by J A Huss

Mr. Corporate
J.A. Huss
(Mister #3)
Publication date: August 17th 2016
Genres: Adult, Contemporary, Romance

Weston Conrad is the best headhunter in the business. That handsome smile goes a long way towards convincing most people to trust him with their future.
I’m not most people. I’m his direct competition. And it doesn’t hurt to be just the kind of woman he’s been looking for.
I’m gonna flash you these legs, Weston Conrad.
I’m gonna wear low-cut shirts and micro-mini skirts.
I’m gonna dazzle you with wit and conversation and kiss those lips like they’re exactly what I’ve been waiting for.
So don’t hate me when you figure out my secret.
You understand, right? You’re Mr. Corporate and this is just business.

EXCERPT
Weston takes off his tie and begins unbuttoning his shirt. My eyes open a little wider. I watch every move. The way his fingers flip each button loose. The way his tanned and muscular chest flashes me as the shirt comes apart. That stupid Corporate grin on his face.I sigh with frustration just as he takes the whole thing off and starts going for his belt.
Will Weston Conrad strip naked to swim?
Oh, yeah. You bet your ass he will. I called him Naked Man back when we were together. He has a thing for it.
“Come on, Tori. Let’s swim. You don’t need a suit. I’ve seen your goods.”
“First of all,” I say, crossing my arms and maintaining eye contact as the pants come down, “I’m not ‘goods.’ Second of all, I’m not giving you the pleasure of seeing me naked after you’ve been such an asshole.”
“When was I an asshole?”
He’s kidding, right? “All the time.”
“I’m just truthful, Victoria. You just can’t handle the truth.”
“I’m tired of fighting—” But I stop talking. Because yeah, he still looks amazing in those black boxer briefs he’s partial to.
“Did you miss him?” West asks.
“Who?” I say, forcing myself to look up at his face.
“Naked Man?”
I almost laugh, but catch myself just in time. “Weston—” But before I can get anything else out, he’s crossing the floor, I’m backing up, my hands are up, warning him to stay away, and I bump into the couch and fall back.
He stops in front of me, his goddamned bulge staring me in the face.
At least he’s not hard.
Ooops. Spoke too soon.
“Weston, stop it.”
“Come on,” he says, extending his hand. “We’re going to the beach.”
“I’m not getting naked with you.”
“I don’t need you naked. Your fucking skirt is so short you could wade in up to your thighs.” He shakes his hand at me, urging. “Come on.”
I close my eyes so I can stop staring at the bulge, stop imagining his hard cock and all the ways I’ve been intimate with it in the past, and take his hand, letting him pull me to my feet. His arm slips around my back and he pulls me into his chest. God, I can feel his fucking dick against my hips.
“Victoria,” he says in my ear. “You’ve missed me,” he says, switching to the other one.
I wait for what comes next. It’s a thing he always did with me when I was on the verge of something. Panic, or sadness, or whatever comes with all the things we went through.
He would stand behind me, both hands squeezing my shoulders. His mouth would go to work on my earlobe, and my neck, and my mouth. Then his fingers would dip down into my bra to squeeze my breasts and pinch my nipples.
We’d always have sex after that. Always. It drove me crazy.
But before I can say anything—No, we’re not doing that, or, Back off, mister, I’m not yours—he backs away and he’s heading for the door, tugging me along.
I sigh, missing his attention so much in that unused moment.

A-SIST
Anthropomorphic Sentient Individualized Servile uniT
Rogan is a robot. More specifically, he is an Asist – a personalized humanoid servant that provides protection, assistance, and companionship for a lonely young woman living on her own in the city.

Chloe is trying to get her big break, singing at bars and clubs all over the city at night while she pays the bills as a substitute teacher during the day. Ever since she activated him many months ago, Rogan has been her beautiful, dependable, obedient, dead-eyed security blanket.
One morning she is shocked when he disobeys a direct command in an attempt to please her and his dull artificial eyes flash a hint of something new. Is this the result of the adaptive Asist servility programming or is Rogan actually thinking? Can a robot think? Can a robot feel?

As Chloe struggles with these thoughts she is blindsided by the singular Niven Adams, a handsome, confident man with the voice of an angel who is everything she’s ever wanted in a boyfriend. He’s the perfect guy for her, except for one problem. Niven doesn’t approve of Asists and takes an immediate dislike to Rogan. As Niven charms his way deeper and deeper into Chloe’s heart, Rogan tries to convince her that he is more than a mass-produced disposable servant.

With Rogan doing everything in his power to prove that his thoughts and feelings are real and Niven trying to persuade her to abandon her robot and have a normal human relationship, Chloe is trapped between the two things that mean the most to her. Does she embrace her relationship with the blond newcomer, or face that her Asist’s feelings may be more than features of his programming?

What really makes a person a person?
Is it a ticking muscle inside their chest, or is it something more?

#Excerpt: SONAR THE SURGE by B. Truly

* * * Symone * * *
Chaos spun around me and my heart hammered inside my chest. There were too many hostages to count. Several were scurrying out of the hole Bryan had made with his blue fire.
We had to get the refugees to the ships that were waiting above the surface. Polars were coming out of the woodwork. It was getting difficult to keep the Kadanans who didn’t know how to fight out of harm’s way. Nile was yelling, trying to direct the hostages to continue out of the opening. At the same time, he was shooting his laser. Glancing to my side, I saw Bryan and Shi getting ambushed. Cessar ran over to help them. I was about to, when a young Kadanan girl slammed into me. Her chest was heaving. She couldn’t have been more than fifteen. Her gray eyes were full of fear.
“What’s your name?” I shouted over the noise.
“Kira.”
“I need you to be brave, Kira. That hole up ahead leads outside where we have help waiting. I want you to run with the group and not look back.”
“What about you?”
“I will be right behind you.”
She hesitated, then took off. I fully intended to make sure she made it out, but trouble was on my heels. A female shot her laser. I took a nose dive. I stayed on the pavement and quickly rolled toward her, knocking her feet from under her. I sprang up before she did. Her brown eyes glowed with fury. Before she could even think of her next move, I blasted her. She laid limp.
Someone from behind kicked my laser from my grasp and clocked me in the head. I went down on one knee, but I caught his foot before he hooved me in the ribs. I got to my feet and plowed one of my super kicks into his spine. He grabbed for the laser in his holster. My foot connected with the gun and sent it spiraling across the room.
A loud bang caught my attention. To my left, Nile was getting triple-teamed.

Symone doesn’t even recognize herself. She has to determine if this is the person she’s turned into, or if it is who she has always been.

But she’s not sure if she can have a relationship with him or where that could lead her. Embracing love could make her whole again, but it may also destroy her. Symone must travel through the opaque light in order to find where her destiny lies.

Symone’s family, Shiray and Syira, continue to fight in the feuds of their galaxy. Together they have to find the balance between compassion and sacrifice. Will Jacob find a way to bring back the carefree, talented girl he once knew, or is it too late for both of them?
Goodreads / Amazon / Barnes & Noble
EXCERPT:JacobThese two weeks had been hell for me.
I didn’t know how I was going to pull this off for the eight months I still had left in this hell of a town. My parents didn’t get me, and she was around all the time, suffocating me. My heart skipped a beat every time I heard her voice, and it doubled in speed when she was near me. I wouldn’t be able to stay away, I knew it. She was breaking my heart all over again.
I heard her at night, when she thought everyone was sleeping. I just sat on the floor, resting my head against the wall, and listen to her cry and throw up every other night.
I stayed there like a jerk, as if I didn’t give a crap about her or her feelings, but I cried. I missed her. I wanted to hold her at night and tell her that everything would be alright, but I couldn’t. I promised I would stay away—I couldn’t hurt her, anymore. I pushed my knees to my chest to hold myself together and to keep me from crumbling. Sometimes, I had to place my closed fist against my mouth, so she wouldn’t hear me sob. I wished she would have, though. I wished she would have opened the door and saw me sitting there, caring about her, suffering like she did.
My mom was getting suspicious about me. She knew about her, or at least that something wasn’t right. My face, the permanent dark circles under my eyes, and my lack of appetite wasn’t normal, though. I was okay, before her parents’ accident—I had started to pull myself together.
***
This night was especially bad. She stayed in the bathroom for hours. I had been on the other side, hearing her cry and wishing I could take it all away.
I was starting to get really scared for her. I left before my parents woke up, unable to face them and those disapproving looks, anymore, like I wasn’t doing anything right with my life. They wanted a perfect son and they didn’t have one.
I was in no condition to go to college—I couldn’t even imagine myself being closed behind four walls for another four or five years. I needed something to take my thoughts away—something that would fuel me with adrenaline. They wouldn’t approve of the plans I’d been making. They’d hate them, in fact, but I didn’t care, anymore, I just needed to get away.

Excerpt:
“I’m told this is the loveliest rose garden in all of London.”Mary tilted her head. “Then you’ve been told correctly.” Without looking in his direction, Mary followed Camden to the far corner of her gardens.“What news do you have?” Camden asked. “You know I don’t like to meet during the day.”Mary crept closer, until only a hair’s breadth separated them. “There are two new couples attending the Hunt dinner on Friday, Lord and Lady Knightly and Lord and Lady Sargent. I’ve heard that the Lord and Lady Knightly have recently returned from an extended trip abroad. From what I could gather, Lord Knightly enjoys country life, but his young, spirited wife wants to be in London for the Season. I’ve not heard anything about Lord and Lady Sargent.”Camden stood still, absorbing the information, his large frame dwarfing Mary’s petite one. “We need to start somewhere in ferreting out the truth. It may have been a commoner who murdered Henry, but seeing as both couples were in London during the time of the murders, I’ll visit the Home Office and see what information can be gleaned about them. It may be coincidental, but it’s a start and perhaps a tidbit of information has been acquired already to guide the investigation.”In an uncharacteristic show of emotion, Mary grasped his hand and held his gaze. “Camden, do be careful. This old heart would not survive if anything should befall you.”Camden leaned down and kissed her cheek. “My dear Lady Tisbury, I would never want to cause you any undue suffering, so I give you my solemn promise that I will be careful. I shall see you on Friday,” he said, melting into the background and slipping out the hidden gate in the back of the gardens.“I’ll hold you to that promise,” Mary whispered.“Aunt Mary, where are you?” came a young woman’s voice on the wind.Mary hurried along the path to a patch of white roses in the opposite corner of the gardens. “Hannah, dear, I’m in the white garden.”Hannah came into view, and Mary took a moment to study her niece. She was becoming more poised and beautiful every day, although a bit of her wild streak still remained. Mary loved her even more for it, but she’d never tell Hannah’s parents that. John Richardson, Mary’s brother and Hannah’s father, was a stickler for decorum. To him, Hannah was a handful. To Mary, Hannah was perfect. Her dark hair was gathered into a bun at the nape of her neck, and her brown eyes sparkled with flecks of gold. Where had the time gone? It seemed only yesterday that she was a child running free, her hair flying out behind her and her laughter filling the air with her joy. But as with all things, the child had matured, and a lovely young woman now stood before her. “What brings you out in the gardens today, dear?”  “I came looking for you to see if you needed help with the flowers.”Mary handed Hannah the basket on her arm and the clipping shears. “That would be lovely. I want the white and pink roses for the centerpiece tonight.”Hannah nodded and began clipping the roses the way her aunt had showed her countless times before. “Umm…I was thinking.”Mary arched an eyebrow. She knew Hannah well, and especially knew when she was about to ask a favor. “Yes, Hannah?”“Perhaps it would not be too impertinent to ask for new ribbons for Lady Hunt’s dinner?”“I see. Is that all?”Hannah nodded and continued to cut the roses that Mary pointed to. “As a matter of fact, I’m headed out to see Mrs. Phillips later today. Would you care to come along and choose your new ribbons?”Hannah put the basket and shears down and hugged the older woman. “Thank you, Aunt Mary. I do so want to look my best for the— “I suspect you were going to say for the Duke of Wetherby.”“Well, yes, but not just for him, of course. I want to look my best for all of my engagements. The last thing I want is to embarrass you or Uncle Albert.”Mary clasped her hands together and gave her niece a hard stare. “Hannah, you mustn’t try to fool me. I know exactly what you were thinking, and I would caution you not to become too enamored of the Duke of Wetherby. He’s an extremely private man and would not appreciate undue attention on your part.”Hannah nodded. “But Aunt Mary, he does owe me a dance, does he not?”Mary tried hard not to smile. Her niece was as bold as she was beautiful, a combination that was hard for most men to resist. “Yes. I do believe he does. Now, why don’t you take the roses inside?”Hannah picked up the basket and nearly skipped back to the house. Mary watched her carefree niece until she rounded the bend and disappeared from sight. Camden doesn’t know what he’s done, she thought.

#Excerpt: VERSIONS by Megan Mitcham

Versions
Megan Mitcham
(Base Branch, #7)
Publication date: August 9th 2016
Genres: Adult, Romance, Suspense

The truth doesn’t have versions. Or does it?

Rin Lee covered her childhood in dirt and danced on its grave. Only she pranced a little too hard and spent her young-adult life tiptoeing the straight and narrow. Things finally paid off in the form of a job with the Department of Defense, a home of her own, and a boyfriend muscled enough he put Zach Efron to shame. Until one text reveals a hideous truth that splinters her world.

Suddenly she can’t trust Nate or their surrogate family of friends. Can she possibly trust Luck—the man who mirrors her soul, scares her beyond the neat confines she’s erected around herself, and makes her scrutinize the versions she’s always been too angry to see?

Luck turned to the streets out of necessity, while Rin slapped on blinders and ignored those willing to help her. A stupid move for a sultry young woman. But the skills she learned in the rough and tumble underbelly of DC will serve his latest assignment well. Because people like them have the instinct to survive.

Ladies.” The silken honey of the unfamiliar voice coated her nakedness in a soothing balm. The waiter cleared his throat. The low rumble vibrated very near her ear. “What can I get you, miss?”
She canted her head in his direction. Surprise smacked her square in the face. Smoldering bedroom eyes gazed into hers. The crystal blue orbs pierced through a strong brow and straight into her soul. Rin stepped back, stumbling over Nate’s feet. A thud sounded her landing against her boyfriend’s hard chest.
“Whoa, there,” the waiter said, maintaining an invisible grip on Rin that made it impossible to look away.
Blond hair only a shade darker than her own sat in disarray across his forehead, but was shorn close around his ears. The hint of a beard hugged the strongest jaw she’d ever seen. Lips the perfect shape and fullness for hours and hours of kissing would have softened the blow his appearance delivered, if he’d only smile.
“You startled me,” she said by way of explanation for her odd behavior.
“Wasn’t my intention.” He said the words, but his head ticked to the side and his eyes flared in a way that opposed them.
“What’s your name, gorgeous?” Jen asked.
“Call me Luck,” the waiter said, holding Rin’s befuddled gaze.
Nate steadied her and shifted to place himself between her and the…her and Luck, but a massive party of suits poured in to their left. They crowded the walkway with banter and briefcases. The man screwing with her head—more than her shrink ever had—could have stepped to the side of the table toward Zach. Instead, he stepped forward, crowding her with his sharply muscled chest tucked neatly into a waiter’s white button down. Chiseled forearms and lightly sun-kissed skin shown at his rolled sleeves.
Whether someone shoved him or he took a dive she wasn’t sure, but his sinewy chest suddenly plastered her front. One arm wrapped around her waist, catching her in a subtle dip. His other shot out to the chair back to steady them. She swore she heard Gregory moan. Luck’s muscles in action did something sinful to her psyche.
“Jackass, I’m not into threesomes,” Nate blustered just behind her head. She’d see him, if she’d tear her gaze off Luck. But she couldn’t.
Luck lifted his heavy blue gaze from her for the first time and squared it on Nate. “Me neither.”
Until that moment, she’d been sure Nate could have defended her honor or his ego against any man. He probably outweighed Luck by fifty muscle-dense pounds. Luck had a foot of height on him, but his calm voice and confident demeanor had her more than second guessing the outcome. Then again, Nate had a gun.
For the oddest reason, she didn’t think that would matter if the two got into it.
“Luck,” Rin said, “how about you tip a girl upright and bring her a Peroni, a glass of Casarena cabernet, a Goose Island, a Bourbon Spice Rack, and a Hot Delilah…make that two Delilah’s.” The first impression of a smile lightened the corner of his mouth. He straightened and released her, his hand sweeping firmly over the sway of her waist. The touch lingered for far too long. “Anyone else feeling a double?”
