New Testament 91

Matthew 8:28-34 Mark 5:1-20 Luke 8:26-39   “Gadarenes” or “Gerasenes”?  Hard to know.   This is a remarkable story.  And the notion that evil spirits desire to be incarnated so badly that they would rather be cast into pigs than be at large is interesting, as well.

Do not be this guy.

Apparently, when the “Kiss Cam” focuses on couples at the game, they’re supposed to kiss each other.  But the tyranny of technology can interfere, as it did in one case here.  Watch to the end:   https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=...

“Mormon Tabernacle Choir inducted into the American Classical Music Hall of Fame”

A nice announcement that was made on Thursday evening:   http://www.mormonnewsroom.org/article...   Incidentally, my wife and I attended a concert at BYU tonight by The King’s Singers.  Their precision was, as it always is, remarkable.  They did a large number of pieces, all American, ranging from spirituals to Cole Porter and Rodgers and [Read More...]

“Ordain Women’s Kate Kelly loses last appeal; husband to resign from Mormon church”

http://www.sltrib.com/lifestyle/faith...   I’m struck by some aspects of the article:   Saturday’s news “saddened” Ordain Women Executive Board Chairwoman Debra Jenson. “We are profoundly troubled by a definition of apostasy that seems to include members asking sincere questions of our leaders,” Jenson said in the group’s news release.   Compare Ms. Jenson’s suggestion [Read More...]

Just a note to remind everybody out there that the Interpreter Foundation has already — in its brief 2.5 year existence — published four books, with several more in the works and on the way.  And that’s not counting our online publication of Volume Four of Royal Skousen’s magisterial project to display and [Read More...]

“The Suicide”

This comic-with-a-teaching-purpose was created by Mahdi Tabatabaie Yazdi, of Tehran, Iran, who kindly brought it to my attention:   https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?s...   https://www.facebook.com/Salamcomics/...   Either link should work, I think.  In the latter, at least, simply click on the displayed image to advance to the next one.   I hope that he and his [Read More...]
