The Insecure Writer's Support Group and New Publish & Promote Book

It’s time for another edition of The Insecure Writer’s Support Group, founded by Ninja Captain, Alex J. Cavanaugh.

Today’s question:
Of all the genres you read and write, which is your favorite to write in and why?

That is a tough question. Between my own reading habits and reading DLP submissions, I read a lot of genres, and with my own writing, I’m working on my 4th genre.

I love stories with a little romance to them. (I also loved the movie A Little Romance – does anyone remember it?) DLP d...

Big Red and Printing & Distribution Matters

I am thrilled to announce Dancing Lemur Press’ latest release! Compared to Heinlein and Black Mirror, this military sci-fi story takes many twists and turns on its journey. If you love action and a compelling mystery, you will love Big Red.

Big Red by Damien Larkin
We have always been here...
Traumatized by the effects of Compression travel, soldier Darren Loughlin holds the key to the fate of Earth’s Martian colonies. With his Battalion decimated, his fractured memory holds the only clues to...

Literary Book Gifts Gloves

I received these Cashmere Writing Gloves from Literary Book Gifts in exchange for an honest review.

I’ve seen writing gloves before and often they are like gloves with the last inch of the fingers cut off.

These have only a hole for the thumb, which gives you more flexibility. They are also thin enough so you don’t feel all bulked up and have trouble writing or using the mouse. And they are very soft.

I am very cold natured and in the winter it’s tough to keep my hands warm. These certainly d...

The Insecure Writer's Support Group & Next Anthology Contest, Plus Con Photos

It’s time for another edition of The Insecure Writer’s Support Group, founded by Ninja Captain, Alex J. Cavanaugh.

Today’s question:
April 3 question: If you could use a wish to help you write just ONE scene/chapter of your book, which one would it be?

Since I never get time to write anymore, the answer is any at this point. Considering I am at the halfway point with two – and a third has the beginning and ending only – I’d have to say the middle chapter is the most pressing.

Marketing and the Publisher-Author Relationship

I recently had the Saturday Spotlight Feature at Ellen Jacobson’s site, The Cynical Sailor. If you want to know more about the workings of Dancing Lemur Press, Minions, penguins, and a workaholic publisher, please stop by.

* * *
The subject of marketing as it pertains to the author comes up a lot. Writers question the need for a marketing plan and those publishers and agents who request one. But what they don’t realize is the days of writers hiding away just to write are long over. Authors HAV...

The Insecure Writer's Support Group and Music Boxes

It’s time for another edition of The Insecure Writer’s Support Group, founded by Ninja Captain, Alex J. Cavanaugh.

I’m posting a day early for a very special reason.

Today’s option question: Whose perspective do you like to write from best, the hero (protagonist) or the villain (antagonist)? And why?

The fiction stories I write are character driven. They are fueled by love and real life, and there aren’t really any defined antagonists. Some minor characters pop up at antagonists, but otherwise...

The Insecure Writer's Support Group & Assorted Announcements

It’s time for another edition of The Insecure Writer’s Support Group, founded by Ninja Captain, Alex J. Cavanaugh.

Today’s option question: Besides writing what other creative outlets do you have?

Too many! I’ve always been creative – painting, writing, creating, building. I started taking photos when I was 12 and took photos professionally for over 20 years. DLP keeps me busy, so I don’t have as much time for photos or anything else. Unless you count organizing as being creative!

#IWSGPit Twitter Pitch Party and #Illogicon

#IWSGPit is today - January 15, 20198:00 am - 8:00 pm Eastern Standard Time
Visit the #IWSGPit site for the rules and hashtags.
Dancing Lemur Press will be watching the feed, especially for #SF, #F, and #MG (with historical aspects.)

Last weekend we had a booth at IllogiCon VIII. We had a lot of interest in both the books and our prints, plus some asking for autographed copies (hint - work on that for the next con) and a couple people asking when Alex J. Cavanaugh’s next book would be out. (BI...
