Monday

lovethispic.comSaw the babies this weekend.  The whole family had sinus infections. The boy had stopped at Urgent Care, on the way to hook up with us, to get something for his.  Yes, I am popping Vitamin C every couple of hours after the visit. There was a price for all those wonderful hugs. What about you? What did you do this weekend, blogster buds? Anything going on in your world?

Piper Morgan To The Rescue Cover Reveal

We have another blogster bud that's got an upcoming release...Stephanie Faris.  If that's not exciting enough, animal rescue figures into her story.  You know we're going to love it!

Blurb:
Piper helps some four-legged friends find the perfect home in the third book of the brand-new Piper Morgan series.

Piper is super excited to help out at Bark Street, a local animal shelter in town. Who wouldn’t want to be surrounded by adorable puppies and dogs all day? And when Piper sees Taffy, the cutest dog she has ever seen, Piper is determined to find a way to bring Taffy home. But it won’t be easy—especially when she finds out someone else wants to make Taffy a part of their family, too!
Rescue Shelter AdoptionsIn Piper Morgan to the Rescue, an eight-year-old girl gets to work at a rescue shelter, where she sees how many perfect little dogs and cats are available for adoption. It’s a children’s book, so I didn’t get into the heavy-duty details of why shelter adoption is so important. In fact, in Piper’s story, every pet she falls in love with gets adopted.
In reality, shelters are filled with animals that will never be adopted. This is especially true of the many older pets there, as well as the pets that have health problems. Most families look for puppies or, at the very least, dogs that aren’t older than one or two years old. Those willing to adopt an older pet would be giving a great life to a dog that would be put to sleep eventually. Even in a no-kill shelter, the dog won’t have the quality of life that comes with being in a happy home.
When people think of looking for a pet at a shelter, they imagine walking in and looking at pets in cages. In fact, you can actually look for the breed you want by searching Petfinder.com. You might have to travel a few hours away if you have an exact breed in mind, but you’ll see photos and get a description of the dog’s health, age, and temperament before making a final decision. Even if you buy from a breeder, you often have to travel to pick up the dog.
Best of all, buying from a shelter is often cheaper than buying from a breeder. If you buy from a breeder, you sometimes have to wait a couple of months for the dog to get old enough, since breeders usually sell their pets almost as soon as they’re born. With a pet rescue shelter, you can probably go pick your dog up today.
If you’re set on a specific breed, consider making Petfinder a part of your search. You may fall in love with one of the dogs you see at a shelter. At the very least, you’ll get a full view of all of the options you have instead of going directly to a breeder without knowing.
Bio:
Stephanie Faris knew she wanted to be an author from a very young age. In fact, her mother often told her to stop reading so much and go outside and play with the other kids. After graduating from Middle Tennessee State University with a Bachelor of Science in broadcast journalism, she somehow found herself working in information technology. But she never stopped writing.
Stephanie is the Simon & Schuster author of 30 Days of No Gossip and 25 Roses, as well as the upcoming Piper Morgan series. When she isn’t crafting fiction, she writes for a variety of online websites on the topics of business, technology, and her favorite subject of all—fashion. She lives in Nashville with her husband, a sales executive. Links:WebsiteBlogFacebookTwitterInstagramFor An Advanced Reviewer Copy Enter Here:http://www.rafflecopter.com/rafl/share-code/YmE3MjA1ZmE3NmM3MjJlOTUyMzIyZjViYzk5OWQ3OjU=/?

Beat Out by Cannibus

This probably should be under Wacky Wednesday, but what the hey:) Flower Gardens and More made it into third place in the Amazon ranking for flowers the other day. But, it couldn't beat out Growing Cannibus Indoors which seems pretty well locked into the #2 spot:)   Marijuana or flowers.....Hmmm.  Grin.
Another little wacky tidbit on a Tuesday.  I mentioned earlier that the HH and I went to a winery for lunch on Valentines Day.  It was great, something wonderfully different. But our meals never seem to go off without some sort of strangeness. We had reservations for 1:30 and got there around 1:25. The receptionist looked at her screen then at us and politely informed us, she'd seat us at our appointed time. I blinked a couple of times, nodded and we settled in to wait our prescribed five minutes. Sure enough at 1:30 she came back and showed us to our table. You're probably thinking we were waiting for a clean table which would be a logical assumption. Nope. At that particular time the dining room was nearly empty. It was a head-scratcher.  Anybody in the food industry know something I don't? Then...the HH wanted to order from the Valentine's menu that was posted in the hall and that he'd seen on line. The waitress knew nothing about it and brought out the brunch menu.
In spite of the oddness, we did have a good time. They had excellent wine by the way:)
On a more somber note, the literary world lost one of its bright stars when Harper Lee passed. She never joined the media frenzy that seems requisite to sell today, just wrote an astute body of work, on our culture and history, that spoke for itself.  RIP Harper.

A Thousand Yesteryears

Greetings, friends. Our blogster pal Mae Clair has some news to share with us today.  She has another romantic suspense coming out. I gotta say, I can’t wait to read this one!
Goodreads Book Giveaway: A Thousand Yesteryears by Mae Clair #mystery #suspense #Mothman
A huge THANK YOU to Sandra for allowing me blog space to share some exciting news. Kensington Publishing is doing a Goodreads Giveaway for a paperback copy of my upcoming release, A THOUSAND YESTERYEARS. There will be two—count ‘em two—winners. https://www.goodreads.com/giveaway/show/172145-a-thousand-yesteryears
A THOUSAND YESTERYEARS is a tale of mystery and suspense centered around events that took place in Point Pleasant, West Virginia. You’ll discover a small river town plagued by tragic history and rumored sightings of the Mothman—a terrifying creature said to haunt an abandoned WWII munitions site.
The characters are everyday people facing extraordinary circumstances—secrets, betrayal, murder. I hope you find the blurb intriguing:
Behind a legend lies the truth…
As a child, Eve Parrish lost her father and her best friend, Maggie Flynn, in a tragic bridge collapse. Fifteen years later, she returns to Point Pleasant to settle her deceased aunt’s estate. Though much has changed about the once thriving river community, the ghost of tragedy still weighs heavily on the town, as do rumors and sightings of the Mothman, a local legend. When Eve uncovers startling information about her aunt’s death, that legend is in danger of becoming all too real…
Caden Flynn is one of the few lucky survivors of the bridge collapse, but blames himself for coercing his younger sister out that night. He’s carried that guilt for fifteen years, unaware of darker currents haunting the town. It isn’t long before Eve’s arrival unravels an old secret—one that places her and Caden in the crosshairs of a deadly killer…
~ooOOoo~
A THOUSAND YESTERYEARS releases on April 26th, but the ebook version is already available from Amazon and all other major book sellers. If you’d like to pre-order you can find a complete list of links here.
In the meantime, I invite you sign up for the paperback giveaway at Goodreads and tell your friends! The Mothman Cometh! ☺

Wacky Wednesday

Whether you're a republican, democrat or independent, this is a hoot if for no other reason than Johnny Depp is totally unrecognizable.

Look

Have you noticed every politician or political junkie being interviewed on TV starts his sentence with 'Look' or throws it in the first sentence or two? Apparently, it's the new buzz word. I know what's going to happen, I'm resigned. I hear it so much, I'll start inadvertently starting my sentences with... Look.
