Temptation on #MostWantedMonday – Heated by J. Kenner
I’m in the process of reading page proofs for Heated, book 2 in the Most Wanted series by J. Kenner (c’est moi!), and I am so happy with this book! (And it is seriously hot!)
I just love both Tyler and Sloane and can’t wait to hear reader reactions to these two!

I drew in a breath as I considered my next move and, as in chess, where that move would take me. “I’m pretty good at resisting temptation.”
“Are you?” He leaned in, his mouth so close to my ear I felt the whisper of his breath on my hair. “I’m not. As far as I’m concerned, giving in to temptation is one of the few true pleasures in life.”
Oh my. A hot coil of desire twisted through me, making my skin flush and my knees go weak.
If he noticed my reaction, he said nothing. But he began to walk slowly around me, as a man in a museum might circle a statue.
I started to turn as well, tracking his movement. “No,” he said, the command in his voice undeniable. “Stay still. Look forward.”
I stopped, hesitated, then turned my head to look out at the party, at the people floating by in pretty dresses and elegant suits. With smiles and laughter and nothing on their mind except the quality of the wine and the rhythm of the band.
I told myself that my acquiescence was simply part of the game—he was a man who wanted control, I was the woman falling under his spell.
But it was more than that, and I damn well knew it. That flutter I felt in my belly wasn’t the excitement of the chase, but the anticipation of his touch.
Yeah, Tyler Sharp was dangerous, all right.
He was behind me now, and though I could no longer see him, I felt his presence as firm and gentle as a kiss. My breath caught in my chest, and I realized that I was anticipating the brush of his fingertips upon the nape of my neck, then his hand on my bare back, exposed in the halter-style dress.
But the touch never came—and my breath never came easy.

New excerpt from Tame Me by J. Kenner for Stark On Saturday
It’s time for another #StarkOnSaturday excerpt from Tame Me, a new novella featuring Jamie Archer, which will be released on March 25.

He pulls me close and strokes my back, waiting for me to calm down. I breathe him in, letting his familiar scent soothe me, letting his strength calm me. “It’s okay, kitten. You’re fine. Come on, Jamie. You’re safe.”
I hold tight, breathing deep until the terror has passed and I feel calm again.
Calm and mortified.
I ease out of his arms, taking a step backward. The night is so thick that I can see his face only in the thin light from the Ferrari’s interior that spills out from the still-open door. I see the concern. The hint of worry that is fading in his eyes now that I am steady again.
I don’t want to see the anger that I know is coming, and yet I can’t stand here and pretend to still be scared just so that I can put off the inevitable.
I draw in a breath, tilt my head back so that I can see him, and whisper, “I’m sorry.”
I expect anger. I expect fury. But the soul-deep sadness that fills his eyes is more than I can handle.
“Hunter,” I say, my voice choked. “Please, just let me—”
He nods at the car parked behind the Ferrari. “Get in,” he says in a voice that broaches no argument.
“But—” I lick my lips. “I can’t go back. I have to get to Vegas.”
“I’ll take you where you need to go, Jamie,” he says, and now I hear the anger bubbling up from somewhere dark and deep. “Now get in the goddamn car.”

#MostWantedMonday – Heated by J. Kenner
The party was still going strong when I stepped back into the room. That made sense, I supposed, considering I’d been away less than half an hour. But in that time the world had shifted, and it seemed anticlimactic to go back into the room and have everything be exactly the same.
Then I saw Tyler across the restaurant, saw him looking at me. Saw the heat in his eyes.
No, I thought. Nothing is the same at all.
I considered playing it coy, but I wasn’t certain he’d stand for it. More, I didn’t want to. He’d lobbed the ball soundly into my court. Now it was my turn to return it.
I’d checked my purse with the attendant hired to work the party, so I borrowed a pen from the bartender, then scribbled a note on a napkin. I folded it, then called over one of the waitresses and gave it to her. “Just make sure he’s the one who gets it,” I said, pointing to Tyler.
She flashed a conspiratorial grin. “You got it. Good luck.”
“Passing notes in class?” Kat asked, walking up as the waitress walked away.
“Something like that.”
“Buy you another glass of wine?” she asked, holding up two fingers to the bartender.
“They’re free,” I said.
“Don’t let that discount my generosity.” She took the glasses from the bartender and passed one to me. “To success,” she said, then held up her glass to clink.
“Success? In what?”
“In whatever the hell that was all about,” she said, nodding toward the waitress, who had just reached Tyler.
I watched as he took the note, unfolded it, and then—very slowly—lifted his eyes to mine. Come here, he mouthed, and the command seemed to fill me up, warm and enticing.
“Well,” Kat said, a lilt to her voice. “How very interesting.”
I barely heard her. I was already on my way across the room.

I took the stairs three at a time and found Allie standing in the middle of my ransacked room. Every single piece of luggage had been opened. Every single item of clothing had been tossed out. Drawers hung open and empty. The mattress lay askew, most of its bulk now held up by the floor.
I didn’t say anything. I didn’t even curse. Because what the hell was there to say?
“I don’t think they even took anything,” Allie whispered. She thrust her hand toward me and I saw the camera, the brand new Nikon that Eric had bought for her. Definitely not the kind of thing your average thief would pass up.
“It was on the floor, just right there on the floor,” Allie said. “Like they couldn’t care less.”
I was certain she was right—demons aren’t big on scrapbooking and they rarely have Facebook pages.
From behind us, Mrs. Micari drew in a sharp breath. I whipped around to face her. “What the hell did you do?”
