*************************Interview:

What makes you proud to be a writer from CT? I’m honored to be a children’s author from CT. I love to write entertaining stories with important life lessons for children. My goal is to be a role model for my readers.

What or who inspired you to become a writer? My parents encouraged me to write stories since I was a little girl. They were the first to teach me the importance of a good work ethic.

When did you begin writing with the intention of becoming published? My first story, Tails of Sweetbrier was published in 2009. It is now an award-winning autobiography.

Did your environment or upbringing play a major role in your writing and did you use it to your advantage? Yes, I learned at a young age that all things are possible if you persevere.

Do you come up with your title before or after you write the manuscript? Usually afterward, but now and then, the idea for the title comes before I start the story.

Please introduce your genre and why you prefer to write in that genre? I prefer writing for children. I feel my writing style fits them. I like to introduce humor in my stories. Sometimes the stories are told from the animals’ point of view. Also, my books highlight good character, which is important, especially for younger readers.

How many published books do your have? I have 4 books published; Tails of Sweetbrier, Charlie the Horse, Charlene the Star, and Charlene the Star and Hattie’s Heroes, Charlene the Star and Bentley Bulldog.

What has been your most rewarding experience with your writing process? So far, probably the most rewarding thing was winning the Feathered Quill Book Award for my book, Tails of Sweetbrier and having it nominated as a finalist for the CLiPPA award. I’m so honored that it was chosen.

Have you had a negative experience in your writing career? If so please explain how it could have been avoided? Fortunately, I’ve had very few negative experiences in my writing career.

What one positive piece of advice would you give to other authors? I think each of us should pursue our dreams, even when you feel they will never be realized. My personal experiences are proof that anything can happen if you refuse to give up on your dreams.

Who is your favorite author and why? It’s so difficult to choose a favorite author because there are many gifted, accomplished authors who deserve recognition. I would say two people who are friends of mine, Janice Spina and Sarah Mazor, are my favorites. Their stories are always entertaining with important lessons to share. I admire their talent a great deal.

Is there anything else that you would like to share with us? As I mentioned, my goal is to be a good role model for children. I hope that my books highlight important life lessons that readers will find valuable throughout their lives.

Please add questions and the answers to any questions that you believe your readers would like to know.

What was your show horse’s nickname and how did she get it? My show horse’s nickname was Peach. My sister Holly stood behind her one day and noticed that my horse had big round muscles that reminded her of a peach. The name stuck and we thought it was perfect for her.

What did you want more than anything when you were little? I wanted to be a champion horseback rider. My dad helped that dream come true, even though many people thought we wouldn’t succeed.

What made Peach special? Peach was pretty, but that wasn’t the most special thing about her. She loved jumping and she had a beautiful style of jumping. She never got tired of doing it and she knew when she did well.

Cold Coffee Press Book Review For Hunting Mariah – by J. E. Spina
Jump right into this intense crime, mystery, thriller set in a suburb of New York as author J. E. Spina introduces the reader to the thought process of a serial killer.
“His senses were tingling with the sight, smell, and feel of blood. The silky texture of it and its coppery smell and even the intoxicating taste of it. Just the smell alone could cause desire to rush through his body causing a compelling urge to kill. He felt a thrill at the prospect of taking a life.”
Meet Mariah Michelle Hampton and Dr. Roberts as he begins the slow meticulous process of bringing her memories back while in a safe place at the Dr. Darin J. Roberts Memorial Hospital in Lindan, New York. Many people care about and are looking out for Mariah whether she fully realizes it or not.
There are so many unanswered questions like who was the mystery man that dropped Mariah off at the hospital? How did he know her taste in clothing and detail to sizes when he dropped items off for her? What happened to her and why is it that she can remember some of her childhood memories, but not the last few weeks?
Travel with Mariah on a psychic journey to recover her memories and live with the consequences surrounding her trauma and life with a maniac that might still be at large and want to finish what he started.

She is also a copy editor, avid reader, book reviewer, blogger and supporter of fellow authors. Janice is currently working on two more children's books and three more novels that she hopes to publish over the next two years.*************************Interview:
What makes you proud to be a writer from Londonderry, NH? Wherever I lived I would be proud to be a writer because this is something I love to do and I feel as if I am living my dream each day. What or who inspired you to become a writer? I was inspired by the positive things my mother said to me when I was just nine years old. I wrote her poems for her birthday and Mother's Day. She was very proud and happy to receive them.
When did you begin writing with the intention of becoming published? I began writing at age nine - poetry and then children's stories in my twenties and thirties. I always wanted to be published but did not reach my goal until the ripe young age of 65.
Did your environment or upbringing play a major role in your writing and did you use it to your advantage? I was always a shy and timid child and learned to amuse myself through writing. I think this influenced me to write more and express myself through my writing.
Do you come up with your title before or after you write the manuscript? I always have a title before I begin writing a story, whether it is a children's story or a novel.
Please introduce your genre and why you prefer to write in that genre? I love writing children's books but also enjoy writing novels in many genres - mysteries, psychological thrillers, romance, spiritual and historical. I have eclectic taste in genres, reading and writing.
What was your inspiration, spark or light bulb moment that inspired you to write the book that you are seeking promotion for? My inspirations for my children's books are my five grandchildren who I love dearly. My novel, Hunting Mariah, will be published this year and I hope to promote this book at that time. In the meantime I would like to promote my children's books.
What has been your most rewarding experience with your writing process? Becoming an author, my dream since a young child, has been the most rewarding experience with the writing process. Have you had a negative experience in your writing career? If so please explain how it could have been avoided? The only negative experience I have had has been being rejected by many publishers when I first started writing. I realized that I had to start by publishing my work myself. That is how I avoided the negative experience.
What has been your most rewarding experience in your publishing journey? The most rewarding experience has been the many wonderful people I have met online who have been supportive and have become good friends.
Have you had a negative experience in your publishing journey? If so please explain how it could have been avoided? I have been fortunate not to have had any negative experiences but I know there will always be someone who will have negative things to say about my work. I need to develop a thick skin for such negativity and not take it to heart and let it discourage me from doing what I love to do.
What one positive piece of advice would you give to other authors? Believe in yourself and follow your heart in doing what you love to do. Work hard at your craft and learn everything you can to improve and cultivate your art.
Who is your favorite author and why? I have so many favorite authors but one that I read extensively is Jeffrey Archer. He has the innate ability to create a fascinating tale involving so many creative, well defined and unforgettable characters. I also read some excellent indie authors – Paul G. Day, Mike Wells, and Richard C. Hale.
Is there anything else that you would like to share with us? I want to thank everyone who has ever supported me and continues to support me in all my endeavors. For their friendship and assistance I am truly grateful. I feel blessed to be able to do what I love to do every day of the rest of my life, thanks to God.

Cold Coffee Press Book Review For Abuse Me No More - by Jennifer Robins

Abuse Me No More - by Jennifer Robins
Brian never stopped loving her. He longed for her every day since she left. When he heard Kristina was coming back, he was anxious to see her, but wanted to wait until she got settled after the trauma of being abused so terribly by her husband, now her ex-husband. He knew about the damage Jason did to her face and didn't want to embarrass her by calling or going to see her to soon. When Kristina needed help to fix her clankedy old car, she had no choice, but to call on Brian who had a car repair garage. She knew he'd help her, but what she didn't know was how much more he'd do for her.

Cold Coffee Press Book Review For Abuse Me No More
by Jennifer Robins

Abuse Me No More - by Jennifer Robins is an intriguing story about a love that went terribly wrong and the ability to accept love again. Kristina, she is also called Kris is the main character who faces the challenge of recovering from a brutal attack inflicted on her by someone she loves.

Kristina struggles to move forward while living within the meager monthly disability income that she receives and a small schooling allowance granted to her by the state of Illinois under the Victim’s Law Act.

Life in Grover Falls is by no means easy as Kristina struggles for both physical and emotional healing. With multiple surgeries in her future, it seems her only comfort is knowing that Jason is incarcerated. She has to trust the justice system as memories haunt her.

When it seems that life will not give her a break and everything around her seems to be breaking down to the point of her roof leaking and her car is need of repairs, a man named Brian will gently give her the courage to look in the mirror again and risk loving and being loved.

Kristina draws her strength from her cat named Sissy and a painting on her wall that brings back precious childhood memories of her grandmother. It is her spiritual connection to her grandmother that enables her to find restoration and healing after the panic attacks. “Morning sun danced into the room, perching on her grandmother’s painting, illuminating it like a dim golden spotlight. The stream of water in the painting seemed to come alive flowing lazily to the bottom of the frame. She could almost feel the soft breeze through the trees and meadow in the background. Grandma made her paintings come alive in detail as if it were a video. She rested her head on the back of the sofa and felt the tranquil effect of a loved artistic hand.”

Is her faith strong enough to allow her to trust Brain and allow herself to love again? “Birds chirping outside the bedroom window announced the dawn of a new day.  Sun rising in the eastern horizon gave promise to a nice day. Brian stood by the side of the bed with his arms stretched up over his head, a wide yawn coming from his open mouth. The stream of light from the window shined on his strong half-naked body like a spotlight entering the stage. The muscles in his bare chest bulged as he tightened his biceps. She raised her head from the pillow to smile in delight at this wonderful figure standing before her.”

What will the future bring, what dark forces will try to hold her captive, how does abiding love bring resolution and do “dreams have a way of awakening one to life’s realities”.

Cold Coffee Press endorses ‘Abuse Me No More’ by Jennifer Robins as an example of one rising above a victim mentality to embrace life, love and even help from those who have passed on to the other side.

‘Abuse Me No More’ was given to us by the author in a PDF format for review. The review was completed on December 13, 2014. For more information please visit http://www.coldcoffeepress.com

Cold Coffee Press Author Spotlight Interview With Author Jennifer Robins

Cold Coffee Press Author Spotlight Interview With Author Jennifer Robins
Jennifer Robins took up writing about the paranormal after a long time in the business world. She attended Cuyahoga Community College in Ohio (TriC). Her interest in the unexplained we live with has taken her to some intense research of many intriguing subjects. These findings have inspired her to write the stories she puts into words for others to enjoy. She lives with her husband and a few wonderful pets. Jennifer spends time with her grown family, loves to write, paint in oils and play the piano.

Interview:

What makes you proud to be a writer? The accomplishment and a promise to my dying daughter.

When did you begin writing with the intention of being published? 1990

Did your environment or upbringing play a major role in your writing and why? Not really.

Cold Coffee Press endorses ‘Abuse Me No More’ by Jennifer Robins as an example of one rising above a victim mentality to embrace life, love and even help from those who have passed on to the other side.

by Nick Iuppa and John P. Mendoza

Nick Iuppa, Author of ‘Bloody Bess And The Doomsday Games, has teamed up with John P. Mendoza to bring us another fast-paced, action suspense thriller that will keep readers turning pages and biting their nails.

There’s a large cast of unique characters, many of whom are confined to business class cars on the Copper Canyon Railway as it speeds through the Grand Canyon of Mexico, unaware of the impending man-made disaster that’s about to shatter the serene environment.

Somewhere in the process of grieving for his lost wife, Adelita, his “warrior woman” love, Professor Tom McKeever walks a thin line between reality and golden memories that keep pulling him back into his her beauty, delicious aroma, and open arms. The gut wrenching knowledge that there was an experimental cancer treatment that might have saved Adelita’s life, had it not been for the decisions of one man, is more than Tom can bear. The need for revenge seethes like red-hot embers but conflicts with thoughts dredged up from a Catholic School upbringing: “Vengeance is mine, saith the lord!”

Time is running out, but somehow the collateral damage begins to seem more and more defensible... a justifiable murder suicide. Is it? Find out; come ride the rails into Copper Canyon when time is definitely not on your side.

Cold Coffee Press Book Review For Deadly Circles:
A CJ Hand Novel (Volume 1) - by C. G. Haberman

Deadly Circles: A CJ Hand Novel is a fast moving fiction crime mystery that enchants the reader with breath taking descriptive beauty with possible environmental struggles within the Great Plains of the USA.

The main character, CJ Hand was born in Hand County, South Dakota. As a criminal investigator CJ Hand takes the reader on a vivid pictorial trip down the winding rural roads of Nebraska into the small towns where life and love among other things thrive with a cast of over 40 characters. The dialog flows very smooth and this reviewer can visualize this book series becoming an excellent made for TV series.

Enjoy the descriptive beauty of the landscapes and relate with the rural folks going about their daily lives. Just keep in mind that nothing is perfect and even here there festers a quiet under tone of mystery, personal and political greed, crime and an unexplained death.

Haberman weaves a tale that keeps the reader turning the pages with descriptive artistry like in this quote: “A breeze whispered through the pine and cedar trees as he entered the small acreage. Colored lichens dotted gravestones and the stately old trees. He moved from grave to grave reading the inscriptions. Several large round, prairie-hay bales rested in the warm autumnal sunshine in the east half of the cemetery, devoid of headstones. CJ squatted down, grasped a handful of loose hay, examined the dried vegetation, and rolled it between his palms. The earthy, redolent grass brought a melancholy rush. The death of a friend’s son brought him here and a tragic farm accident united him with the woman he loved. He stood in the earthly solitude, stillness within him. A wind gust interrupted the moment. An important task lay ahead.”

Cold Coffee Press Endorses Deadly Circles: A CJ Hand Novel (Volume 1) and you can follow this book up with Mill Creek Malice (Volume 2) as the series continues to unfold under the mastery of author C. G. Haberman.

Cold Coffee Press Spotlight Interview With Author C. G. Haberman

Cold Coffee Press Spotlight Interview With Author C. G. Haberman
C. G. Haberman was raised in south-central Nebraska, undergraduate education from the Nebraska University, and MS from Fort Hays State University.

For nearly a decade he taught the biological sciences in secondary schools. He changed professions to work in the environmental field for three different state agencies over twenty years. C. G. returned to education as a community college instructor and as an adjunct at a four-year, liberal-arts College. He has written and self-published five novels, four crime and one historical all set in the Great Plains.

**************************
What makes you proud to be a writer from Nebraska? I am proud to be a writer from Nebraska because so little is known about this diverse State. My goal is to show, through words, the diversity that exists in Nebraska and the surrounding Great Plains States.

What or who inspired you to become a writer? A friend asked a similar question. The first time was in the seventh grade and the teacher, Mrs. Johnson, encouraged the class to write. My writing for the class involved mysteries. Writing was hit and miss with most of it professional publications except for the environmental reader series for children.
Writing started to take shape after I went back to teaching. It was the time of my wife’s health problems that I began, mostly to occupy my mind during her difficult recovery.

When did you begin writing with the intention of becoming published? During the time of my wife’s health dilemmas our daughter inspired me to bring the novel I had written out of my computer to share with the public. That novel became my first: Deadly Circles. Positive, as well as a few negative, comments about the novels drive me to write more and better.

Did your environment or upbringing play a major role in your writing and did you use it to your advantage? My environment—literally and figuratively—was the force behind the first novel. I had been fortunate to be in the right place at the right time. Because of the unique situations where I worked and lived and “battled” I can show and entertain the reader from a “been there, done that” perspective.

Do you come up with your title before or after you write the manuscript? I derive titles as I outline novels in my head. Once the novel is firmed up in a detailed outline I might change, but that has occurred only once with the fourth in the CJ Hand series: Lake of Lies.

Please introduce your genre and why you prefer to write in that genre? I write fiction: crime, mystery, and historic. All focus on the Great Plains environment.

What was your inspiration, spark or light bulb moment that inspired you to write the book that you are seeking promotion for? The moment that inspired me to write Deadly Circles came after a difficult time in my environmental career. On a secluded drive across rural, eastern South Dakota I wondered about the happenstance. During that drive CJ Hand was born in Hand County, South Dakota.

What has been your most rewarding experience with your writing process? The writing process experience most rewarding is the unfurling of the words as the book develops. An example is the historical novel, The Naturalists, where the character Abner Hayman took the reins and became a major actor, something I had not planned. As I read and researched this book I learned an immense amount about our country (positive and negative) from the mid-1800s to 1899.

Have you had a negative experience in your writing career? If so please explain how it could have been avoided? No. I cannot think of a time that was negative. Writing I do for pleasure, and hope those who read the CJ Hand Novels and The Naturalists enjoy reading them as much as I enjoyed writing them.

What has been your most rewarding experience in your publishing journey? The most rewarding experience was the positive feedback about the dialogue and settings.

Have you had a negative experience in your publishing journey? If so please explain how it could have been avoided? None to date. I have not experienced a negative in my publishing journey.

What one positive piece of advice would you give to other authors? The positive piece of advice is write about what you love and read, read, read all kinds of books. One of the most intriguing I read was a philosophy book entitled: PLATO and a PLATYPUS Walk into a Bar Understanding Philosophy through Jokes 2007 Thomas Cathcart & Daniel Klein http://www.hnabooks.com

Who is your favorite author and why? My favorite author is Robert B. Parker followed by Cather, Sandoz, Steinbeck, Michener, Craig Johnson, Tony Hillerman, and C. J. Box
Please add questions and the answers to any questions that you believe your readers would like to know.

Q: What do you do when I get writer's block? A: Read. Relax. Listen to Music.

Q: Is Nebraska as flat as the media says? A: No, as long as you get off I-80. The Sandhills are rolling dunes with grass and cattle and wetlands. The Republican Valley holds some real surprises. The Niobrara and the Pine Ridge are gorgeous and wild. The Loess Hills of Iowa are wonderful in the fall.

Q: Why the Republican Valley for your first novel? A: It was where I took college students of all ages to learn and talk water and water war, look at geologic faults, plus it is Cather land.
