What's your obsession with masculinity?
Obsession is a pretty strong word for my feelings towards masculine tropes. Instead, let’s say I’m fascinated by masculinity; the whole concept of which is a social construct. We define what is and is not masculine. I think that’s really interesting.
Back when I was the Art Director at Colt, I did a focus group on “what is masculine” because I’m pretty fem and wanted a masc4masc design cheat sheet. Results were very interesting.
Wood, leather, stainless steel, slate, denim all scored very high as “masculine” materials. San-serif, medium to heavy weight fonts considered very “masculine” for typography. (Arial Black most masculine among web fonts). There was more interesting findings, and I used to have charts, but I’m too lazy to find them.

Fantastic Boyfriends: Legends of Midearth Funding Update #5
Alright, listen up folks, we’ve got only nine days left and over $9,500 to go. Obviously it’s an uphill battle. But as I’ve said time and time again, things could always improve, and you can be part of that improvement! Remember, if this campaign is not successful, you’ll get your money back in nine days. So at the very worst you’ll be out a few bucks for just over a week, and best case scenario, you’ll support an LGBT developer get a foothold in the western market, net some cool swag, and experience the warm feeling in your heart that you helped make a speedy release for this game possible. Now’s the time to chip in if you’d like to be part of that.
LET’S DOOOO IIIITTT!! If the whole community works together then this can happen.
