I love this series.  I know the author had some problems with getting this book out to us fans.  But I think she did the right thing, family comes first! I am so glad she came back to us!  I love this series and I think this series would be a great movie.  I can’t wait for more from this author and this series.  Kalayna Price please write us more!  This book was a great next book in the series and I love Alex and all her friends.    5/5

Day two of 250 encouraging words for you! #ASMSG #IARTG #SupportIndieAuthors

So starts my second consecutive day of writing 1000 words a day.

There I was, curled up and snuggled deep within my blankets, my beautiful wife at my side, snoring away. My cat jumped onto my chest, and started purring for pets. I felt surrounded and loved. And with that love came complacency.

I have a good life. Great friends and family that are there when I need them, and a loving wife to help keep me grounded. I don’t need riches, for I am already wealthy.

There isn’t a lot to improve upon, but of all the problems I have, money would solve about three quarters of them. I started thinking about what I wanted, who I could help, the things I could do, and the places I could see.

I started a running total in my head, my eyes growing larger and larger as I realized what this endeavor was going to take. I huddled deeper into my blankets, again determined to be satisfied with my inner peace, my loving family, my beautiful wife.

And it was there, with the blankets pulled up to my neck that I remembered millionaires don’t get that way without struggles or regrets. They have to make the same sacrifices to get what they want. Well, at least that’s how it was back in the day.

I realized what I needed to do, and that trying wasn’t good enough. Either I did it, or I didn’t. There isn’t a lot of middle ground there. Once I started, it was easy, the words flowed onto the page, and I was one day closer to my goal. Only 89 more days to go.

Cruisin’ through books cause books make life worth living with Aly 2/9/2016 part three

The Girls In The Woods by Helen Phifer

I loved this book.  It is suspenseful and full of mystery.  I have not any other books from this series.  I did feel that since it is book 5 that I needed some back ground of the characters a little bit. I was a little lost by the switching characters point of view in the beginning but I got used to it further in the book.  This was a great mystery story about a serial killer.  I guess this goes to show why most people do their own picture now days.  * I received this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review*  4/5

I hope I can inspire you! #AmWriting #AmEditing #SupportIndieAuthors! #ASMSG #IARTG

So I took a bit of a break from writing recently. Only read one short book, finished a review for another, but I haven’t posted it yet. I just decided I needed a break.

I went from almost no writing ever to about 1000 words a day in two short years. This is spread over blog posts, books, and just general internet chit chat. Going from 0 to 1000 words a day may not seem like much, but it was an accomplishment for me. I wrote a trilogy of books, 5 novellas, 3 rough drafts, and was starting to feel overwhelmed.

Then I remembered the lessons I learned from my clients when I worked in a psych ward. Balance. Without balance we spin out of control. We grow out of touch with who we are. That’s when it’s time to reconnect. You need to do whatever it is that helps you relax. Me? I play a lot of video games. I just recently spent far too long playing Fallout 4. At the same time, I needed to reconnect with special aspects of my childhood, playing a game.

It reminded me of being 12 years old, playing through the first Fallout, and helped me reconnect with my inner child.

Now I can approach my work with a new perception, adding a new flavor to my writing. All from a good time relaxing. But break time is over.

I’m back and determined to match, if not exceed what I did in the last year. I have more than one project on my plate, I just need to dig in.

I know the only way to get better is to keep moving forward. The day you stagnate in your growth, the day you don’t look for a new lesson in the day, that to me is the day the child within you dies. And what a sad day that is.

I refuse to let my inner child die. I watch cartoons, I read comics, I love movies and television. Everyday I make time to read, to act, to see, to do something for someone else, knowing that in the long run it helps me. The more you see, the more you do, your expanded experiences lead you to being the fantastic, strong, powerful, creative person you are. Why not share that with the world? Why hide your most beautiful of gifts, yourself?

Don’t be afraid to write that story, they all start the same way. With one word at a time. I set a challenge to myself today. At least 250 words for you people. 250 words of encouragement, of inspiration and the struggle for you. Because you are worth it.

The Moreva of Astoreth by Roxanne Bland

This book was ok for me.  It seemed a little long for my taste.  I think in some parts of this book it was a bit repetitive.  I didn’t enjoy this book like I wanted to.  For me, it was just ok.  * I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review*   3/5
