Cruisin’ through books cause books make life worth living with Aly 3/9/2016 part 3

Damnatio Memoriae by Laura Marcelle Giebfried

Wow this was a very long book, but I didn’t mind it a bit!  I enjoyed this book it was different from other books I have read before.  The story line was engaging to me and I enjoyed the characters.  It was some mystery in it and some internal struggles.  I was very surprised and happy to read such a great book.  * I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review*  4/5

The Passage, a Dance, & a Little White Dress by Kristin D. Van Risseghem

This book is a good sequel.  I enjoyed all the characters and the new ones were great!  There is so much going on in this book. Demons, wolves, and so much more.  I think this book keeps me interested with everything going on.  I enjoyed the style the author uses to write these great books!  * I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review*  4/5

Mind Control: Perceivers #2 by Jane Killick

This book had me on the edge of my seat!  I enjoyed this book and so far I love this series.  I loved the first book and this book is just as good.  It did not disappoint me at all.  I love the characters and I can’t wait for the next book in the series.  I was guessing the whole time in this book and that makes it fun for me.  I can’t wait for more!  * I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review*  5/5

Day 30 of 90: Third of the way there #SupportIndieAuthors #ASMSG #IARTG #IAN1 #Inspiration

Didn’t quite get two thousand words yesterday, but I guess you can’t win them all. My sickness finally knocked me out in the afternoon, and I never recovered.

That’s okay, though. Today I feel much better, even if I can’t breathe out of my nose. At least it isn’t dripping anymore! It’s all about perspective.

I love helping other people. I don’t know why, but it’s something I’ve always loved to do. I know I sometimes get taken advantage of, and I end up helping people who only want to use me, but I can’t help myself.

Other authors always ask me to do review swaps, I don’t understand this practice. If I were to “swap” reviews it would be strange. How can I give my honest opinion on a book I have been paid for? I know that that’s not the spirit in which the request is made. I understand other authors can give their honest opinion while reading another author’s book.

I can’t, I just can’t. I did a couple review swaps at the start of my indie author journey. Both books were enjoyable, but it took one author an entire year to read my book. Meanwhile, I finished a rather thick volume in under a month. I worried and twisted my hands for months as I heard nothing but silence from the author. I even broke my golden rule, and bugged the reviewer. I don’t ever do that.

I needn’t have feared. It took her awhile to read my tome, and I am so happy it did. I put it under another round of edits, I grew and learned how to not worry about the chafe.

My stories are what matters. My family is important. People who walk my path know it as well. Our biggest enemy is time. How do you fit it all? How do you juggle life, writing, children, a job, a spouse, and paying your bills all at the same time?

Strength and a relentless will. Don’t let the world conquer you, you conquer the world. One step at a time, one word at a time.

Day 29 of 90: Feeling sick #ASMSG #IARTG #IAN1 #SupportIndieAuthors #Inspiration

As I write this, I’m having to pause my typing to blow my nose. I’m determined to get this done the way I want to.

I almost curled up in my blankets this morning, all I wanted to do was shut the world out.  But it’s hard to get where you need to go in your journey buried under the covers.

The great thing about our technological innovations is I can sit on my bed and type away while the fever burns through me. In all honesty, this could end up being my most productive day in weeks.

Everyday you wake up and form an opinion of the world, whether you know it or not. Either you wake up willing to take what life gives you and run, or accept what life gives you and let it sour your day.

Instead of curling up and letting my sickness dominate me, I’m making my sickness work for me. I look at some of the great sports players, that have played their best games while they were sick, and see we are amazing creatures, and we’re capable  of stupendous feats even when we are at our worst.

Michael Jordan had fifty points in a basketball game, while puking his guts out, and having over a hundred degree temperature. If he can do that, then I know I can double my writing goal for today.  Two thousand words shouldn’t be too difficult, even when I have to stop every five minutes to blow my nose.

Death and I by Melissa C. Water

I think this book is a good book 2.  I think it is sad that Honor had to deal with such a loss in this book.  The book was just as good as the first one in my opinion.  I enjoyed it just as much.  * I receive this book from the author in exchange for an honest review*  4/5

Saving Honor by Melissa C. Water

Honor is a good name for a character.  I liked this book, as well.  I think my niece would enjoy it too. Honor finds out she has some abilities and what she chooses to do with them is part of the book.  This book made me think of Supergirl and Superman a little.  * I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review*   4/5

Can you Keep a Secret? by R. L. Stine (ARC)

I grew up reading R. L. Stine and I still love his books today.  This book was great.  I am reminded of how much I loved to sit and read the original Fear Street series years ago.  I begged my mom for a new book anytime on came out.  Still to this day I have to read them!  This book is about some kids who find a lot of money and of course who can’t use lots of money!  It is never that simple with an R.L. Stine book but you have to read more the books to find out more.  * I received this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review*  5/5
