Didn’t quite get two thousand words yesterday, but I guess you can’t win them all. My sickness finally knocked me out in the afternoon, and I never recovered.
That’s okay, though. Today I feel much better, even if I can’t breathe out of my nose. At least it isn’t dripping anymore! It’s all about perspective.
I love helping other people. I don’t know why, but it’s something I’ve always loved to do. I know I sometimes get taken advantage of, and I end up helping people who only want to use me, but I can’t help myself.
Other authors always ask me to do review swaps, I don’t understand this practice. If I were to “swap” reviews it would be strange. How can I give my honest opinion on a book I have been paid for? I know that that’s not the spirit in which the request is made. I understand other authors can give their honest opinion while reading another author’s book.
I can’t, I just can’t. I did a couple review swaps at the start of my indie author journey. Both books were enjoyable, but it took one author an entire year to read my book. Meanwhile, I finished a rather thick volume in under a month. I worried and twisted my hands for months as I heard nothing but silence from the author. I even broke my golden rule, and bugged the reviewer. I don’t ever do that.
I needn’t have feared. It took her awhile to read my tome, and I am so happy it did. I put it under another round of edits, I grew and learned how to not worry about the chafe.
My stories are what matters. My family is important. People who walk my path know it as well. Our biggest enemy is time. How do you fit it all? How do you juggle life, writing, children, a job, a spouse, and paying your bills all at the same time?
Strength and a relentless will. Don’t let the world conquer you, you conquer the world. One step at a time, one word at a time.
