#RileyAmosReviews, Killing time and wasting wine edition, part 3

Instant Memory: How to Improve Memory Instantly! (The INSTANT-Series) by The Instant-Series

I think this book has some good ideas.  Since I’m studying for a big test in a few months I can use all the memory ideas I can get.  I will try these ideas in this book and see if they help.  I can only hope because I don’t want to take a 6 hour test again.  lol   I guess I’m skeptical weather these ideas will work for me.  * I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review*    4/5

But what can you trust in a strange new world? This book has some good twists and turns and had me on the edge of my seat. * I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review*   4/5

So I started trying to put together a book trailer…

…for Everyone Dies At The End. Anyone know where I can get some free creepy background music, so it’s not all silent?

The more I listen to the audio, and read the editing changes Amanda and the other editors have me making, the more in love I’m falling with this story. I mean, I thought it was good before, but now it’s starting to sound professional. As a man who’s always been a labor kind of guy, that’s awesome.

I love watching my words go from the rough shape they’re in to being able to send chills up people’s spines. (That was Sara’s first reaction the first time she heard the audio.) I just can’t thank the people at BigWorldNetwork enough of a shout out. (You guys should really check out some of the other series here. One, Lineage, received a 5 star review from our very own Alysia, and I’m looking forward to getting to it on the pile. They even cover younger audiences, offering everything from superheroes to magic/comedy. The audio versions rule by the way, it will make it easier to get through some of them when I finally whittle my pile down some more x D)  They’ve been awesome.

Also, the #SupportIndieAuthors (One of these days, I need to do a post about the definition of an indie author. My own interpretation of it is changing as time goes on, and I learn more about how publishing works now a days.) board on Goodreads is nearing 1,000 members, and we were trying to think of ideas to celebrate when we do. I said a pizza party, but Ann pointed out that would be a whole lot of pies. Still, I’m sure we’ll figure something out. Maybe they’ll have a chance to win a feature on either hers or my blog. Just a thought.

And today is the first day I woke up without reviews from Alysia. Either she’s getting slammed at work, or even her brain can only hold so much information before it needs a minute to reset. Either way, we hope she’s doing alright.

So that’s it for today, a nice, lazy, chill ax day, and I needed one. Hope you all have a wonderful night!

Oh, I lied. I decided to share a nice recipe with you guys. Good healthy dinner for you to enjoy.

2 chicken breasts, browned

1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce

6 cups mixed beans (My mix varies depending on the day.)

1/4 cup Dark Brown sugar (I know, sugar is the enemy, but moderation is the key!)

1/2 tsp crushed red peppers, cayenne peppers, black pepper, turmeric, parsley, and paprika

Last, one serving of chicken boullion

Place everything in a crockpot, cover with enough water to just cover all of it, and set it to low for a few hours.(Shorter time if you soak the beans overnight.)

It’s slightly salty, slightly sweet, and full of fiber and protein. Very low fat. Put it on some brown rice, sprinkle on a touch of cheese, and you have yourself a healthy meal.

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Breath Of The Titans: The False Titanbringer is a full three book, high end fantasy trilogy. I shall split my review into the three books.

Book 1: Little Black Storm Cloud.

We are first introduced to the Elves who live in the woods of Elvenham. They are alerted to an army approaching and they confer with the Titans, metal figures and protectors who ask to be taken to Wise of the Elvenham for a meeting.

Next we are introduced to the hero of this series Lovonian a sixteen year old half elf, half dragon. He’s about to set out on a birthday hunting trip with his father and uncle. His father is Amon, Wise of the Elvenham and at the last minute he must meet with the Titans and so misses the…

#RileyAmosReviews, the after work edition, part 2!

One Last Lie , by Rob Kaufman

This book took me a few chapters to get into it.  But once I did, it was very different than I expected in a good way.  I enjoyed the guessing game I used with this book.  I was always trying to guess what was going to happen next and I was not right most of the time.  I liked that about it. * I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review*  4/5

#RileyAmosReviews, the after work edition, part 1!

Yeah, I know, I teased you all and made you think all day there wasn’t going to be any reviews. Did I trick you guys? Anyways, here’s the latest reviews from the great book reading machine, Alysia!

The One Path by Larry S. Gerovac

The One Path was good.  The author has some unique ideas and I like them.  The book had angels and demons and Gypsies and way more.  I have not read anything by this author but I think I will see what else Larry writes. * This book was given to me from the author in exchange for an honest review*    4/5

I really suck at titling things.

Yesterday I had a pretty rough day. Mostly because of my own expectations, and what expecting can do to you.(I don’t believe in airing dirty laundry, so that’s all the more I’ll say on that subject.)

So when this thing happened I all but lost it. My anger, fear, and personal demons saw their chance, and attacked!

However, I weathered my personal storm of self doubt  and grandiose delusions to come out on the other side a better man.

I’m a firm believer in getting your feelings out. If you’re sad enough to cry, do so and tell anyone who doesn’t understand to shove off. If you’re angry, go talk to the person upsetting you and handle it. Simple, easy responses to keep you and those you love happy.

Yesterday I tried a different approach. One I’ve used before with success, but that utterly failed yesterday.

I tried to write it out. Growing up I struggled with anger issues, and this was a technique I used when I truly felt overwhelmed to the point that I can’t even talk. And up until yesterday, it never failed to calm me down. I could work out the aggression, and not have to worry about actually hurting someone or breaking something.

But what I wrote yesterday was deplorable. Full of curses(I know I cuss a lot!) and thoughts that were just too much even for me.

If you’ve followed this blog for awhile, you know that I don’t shy away from controversy. You only need to listen to my latest work to know I’m not afraid to do or say controversial things, but what I wrote yesterday even I don’t think is salvagable.

The incoherent ramblings of a half crazed man, angry with grief and sorrow, I actually wanted that tone for what I was writing. The next day though, it seems like a poor excuse of a scene that I will need to rewrite.

I’m happy it happened yesterday though, as I like to glean what I can from what I observe. And what I’ve observed about myself is I’m pretty good at putting myself in someone else’s shoes.

See, when I tried writing my own grief and suffering down, it came out disjointed and rambling, to the point that I’m not even sure what kind of a message I was trying to get across.

But when I try to write about my neighbors busy fighting each other for their short comings it seemed to have much better thought, a stronger sense of emotions, and all but jumps off the page. I’ve never even met them, but, with my mind calm, I was able to color them with my own idiosyncrasies.

I’m not a big ritual guy, I don’t have a set routine I follow. I always just am who I am and felt how I feel, but I’m finding I may need to change that.

I meditate pretty regularly, at least three times a week, but I may need to increase the amount. After seeing just how much my own emotions can affect my writing, it makes me want to strive to never have it interfere again.

March 16, 2015

Going dark for the day, I’m finding myself entirely to hyped and energetic.

So I’m turning it all off, PC, phone, all of it. Need to clear my head some, and reground myself.

WOOT! Release day for the first chapter! Looking forward to seeing people’s responses to it. So, if you’re interested, take the time to pop on over to BigWorldNetwork, and feel free to drop me a line about it. I have yet to meet an author who doesn’t LOVE to talk about their books!
