#RileyAmosReviews, I think we may need to rename this segment edition, part 4!

House Divided by Peter G. Pollak

For me, this book was very different than what I had first thought when I read the summary.  I don’t pay too much attention to the news because most of the time it is very sad.  I know nothing about the Israel-Palestine conflict…..it is obvious that the author did a great deal of research. I was intrigued by the unique flow of the story. It was a well-written plot. The characters seem to come alive for me.   This book was very good and I’m glad I gave it a shot. * I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review*  4/5

#RileyAmosReviews, I think we may need to rename this segment edition, part 3!

Hearts on Fire: The Story of Vlad the Impaler and the Women He Loved by Rayna Kingston, Helena Lancaster

This is a good love story. I thought it was a twist for the book to show you can love two people at the same time. But at the same time can be very true to life.  I enjoyed the characters is this book and the emotions this book brings to the surface while reading it.  I would recommend this book to anyone who likes romance with a dark side. * I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review*  5/5

Corsonia by Susan Berliner

The imagination this author has is wonderful.  I would love to read some more books from this author. The story line in this book has several twist and turns, I did not expect which made this book very entertaining.  Corsonia is a interesting town.  * I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review*  5/5

Just wanted to rant

Why should you be anyone other than yourself. I had some appointments today, and I have to say, people are very judgemental. I don’t get out of the house a lot, when you’re 500 pounds plus and still have problems walking farther than a few hundred feet it’s hard to. But it never fails every time Sara and I go out people look at us with shock on their faces when we kiss.

Women’s reactions are always the most funny to see. First disbelief, followed by disgust, and then a look of wonder hits their eyes.

What you see ladies is class and chivalry. A man who refused to go for lesser women, or admittedly was shunned by the ones he went after, and remained true to himself.

I saw this on some new age site(like I said I try to read everything), I don’t change who I am for you. Either we vibe, or we don’t. That’s not to say I don’t try to accommodate people, but I can’t help being me. And I shouldn’t have to. If I’m not hurting anyone, why do you look at me like less than you.

I leave you with three things I saw on the way to my appointment. A three wheeled car, a topless grandma driver, and a person smoking a crack pipe behind the wheel of a car. This people is why I write.

And so I introduce you to Gladys. The three wheeled owning, crack pipe smoking, topless grandma.

#SupportIndieAuthors series, a woman I’ve introduced before!

So this week is going to be about a lady you all have already met. The other mod of the Support Indie Authors group on Goodreads(Join if you haven’t yet!). She also is the author of the Rehab for Superheroes series, that I’m looking forward to reading more of. I give you, Ann Livi Andrews.

Blurb from Hollow Towns:

Charlie nodded, but when none of them stood, he felt the pit in his stomach grow even wider. “Is there something else?”

Titus cleared his throat. “You should probably just tell him.”

“We haven’t yet decided. . .”

“Tell him or I will.” Titus’ voice was low but firm.

“We were unable to. . .extract. . .” One began.

“Safely extract.” Two corrected him.

“She’d been stuck in there for far too long,” Four explained.

“There was nothing we could do for her,” Seven shrugged apologetically.

“This had nothing to do with your actions,” Five assured.

“She knew the risks,” Three nodded.

“Please accept our condolences,” Six finished for them.

Charlie calmly stacked the folders on top of each other. Losing control in front of them wouldn’t solve anything. Besides, he’d known this was coming. And they were right. She had known the risks.

Bio:

I was the girl who got in trouble for sneaking flashlights and notebooks into my room in case of late night inspirations. My teachers caught me writing down ideas instead of class notes while in school and college.

I was the out of place teenager with ink stained hands and a mind that was always a million miles away. I was and still am the girl who has a plethora of generic responses for when someone asks me what I’m thinking about. Embarking on a long winded explanation of my current character’s personal dilemmas doesn’t usually seem to be the wise response.

I still am the girl who has to write her first draft with the old fashioned pen and paper. There’s something about the feel of the pen gliding across the paper that maintains my inspiration. If I don’t have a rough draft in front of me when I sit down at the computer, I freeze up.

I’m a simple girl who grew up in the Midwest. While I love to travel, I dream of the day when my husband and I can move our new family, which includes our dashingly handsome newborn son, out to the country where we can reside in peace.

I like to think of my writing style as consisting mostly of creative nonfiction. While the setting might be apocalyptic or fantastic, there’s a piece of me and my own personal story in each work. Every character is somehow based on my own experiences as I’ve always been told to write what I know.

1. What do you do to keep your spirits up through a bad review?

My husband and I laugh about it and then I enjoy a nice glass of white wine. I may sulk over it for a day or two but then I eventually realize that I have to let it go and move on.

2. What has been your greatest inspiration for writing your story?

A friend of mine. I initially wrote Hannah for her. Despite her sudden and dramatic exit from my life, she has remained an inspiration for my book Hollow Towns.

3. Are there any people you feel need a shout out for supporting you?

Definitely my husband. He’s the reason that I began publishing in the first place. And although he has a stressful schedule of his own, he’s always willing to listen to me talk about my ideas and my Goodreads group.

4. Has self-publishing taught you any lessons that you feel will help you in life?

Perseverance, discipline, and people skills. I’ve grown in all three characteristics over the past year. And patience. . .especially as my son shut down my computer just as I was initially finishing these questions — I had to retype them.

and last, What’s your favorite color?

Purple. It began with shag carpet in my nursery and led to a young man running up to me and announcing the five little words that every woman wants to hear: “I like your purple shoes!” Four years later and that man has become the sweetest and most amazing husband and father.

A thank you to all the people that take the time to look at my blog.

So, I was perusing over the stats to my site today, and I learned something that almost made me spit out my coffee. Through 6 days in March we have as many page views as we did in ALL of December. Now, I don’t know if this is because the number of posts has increased (Keep them coming Alysia!) or what, but I wanted to thank each and every one of the visitors to this site.

May your days be filled with nothing but good news, and may evil never find it’s way to your doorstep.

#RileyAmosReviews, I guess you guys get one from me, too, edition!

Going Green by Christina McMullen

I’ll admit it, I have other books on the pile I probably should have read first, but with my own zombie story coming out, I just couldn’t resist.

Going Green is a satirical look at a zombie apocalypse. It doesn’t focus on any one person or group, but instead focuses on “the sheeple”. Now, she NEVER uses this term, but it’s the best way I can describe the wide range she covers.

She covers politics and idiots in the apocalypse very well. It was wonderfully written, and I enjoyed every segment. 5/5

Ten days til Everyone Dies At The End releases it’s first chapter!

I’m so excited, and I just can’t hide it. I’m about to lose control and I think I like it. I’m so excited, and I just can’t hide it. And I know, I know, I know, I know, I know I want you, want you to see my cover for it!

And yes, it is a completely different kind of story than my fantasy series is. Anyways, I have to thank the wonderful people at Bigworldnetwork.com for all the help and support they’ve offered through the process. It’s been fun working with the people there, and Mario Hernandez did an AWESOME job with the e-book covers. I tried paying a professional cover place for a rat holding a finger in it’s mouth, and they told me it couldn’t be done for less than $500! Mario pumped this out like it was nothing! So a special shout out to him for the cover I was told couldn’t be done!

March 2, 2015

I finally found someone to give me an edit of Breath of the Titans!

So, I wanted to share with you guys today someone who has been a major help. As she was just starting her services on her own, she offered on a site to do a free complete edit of a book in exchange for an honest review of her services. I was more than happy to jump at the chance, as I know I’m not the greatest of wordsmiths.

Honestly, I didn’t know what to expect from the whole situation, since I had never worked with an editor before, but during this time I’ve had the chance to work with a couple who have been awesome. Emily was their equal. Once she started my work, she managed to get it back to me in two weeks time.

She found 4,911 mistakes. Most of the things were simple formatting errors, and things that a new author is just going to struggle with. And once she made it to my work, she had it back to me within a week (Not bad for a 170,000 word work.)

But out of those 4000+ errors, she caught at least ten little, and I mean little, holes that could have affected how someone might interperet the work, as well as catching some more startling ones (Like how I had a bald character lose a lock of hair x D Don’t know how that one made it through mine and the wife’s filters.)

I’m very happy with the work she did, and I’m looking forward to working with her in the future. You can check out her services and rates here, on her about page. Where as most people were wanting to charge me 1500-2000 dollars for just a proofread, if she had charged me, it still would have only come to just over $700 for a complete copy-edit.

So as you can see, her prices are more than fair. And I believe she did a masterful job of enhancing the writing flow of my work. Check her out the next time you need something looked at!

Now to reformat the whole thing to re-upload. Hope you all have a wonderful day!
