Season 3, Episode 1: Hello Again

90Welcome back to Season 3 of the Cedar Cove television series!  One of the best parts of being an Executive Producer is the opportunity to visit the set and spend time with the actors.  From what I’ve seen and heard, Season 3 is destined to be the best one yet.  It seems that every year gets better and better.

In reading over the scripts I can tell you there are some great episodes in the works, episodes with twists and turns and surprises.  I can hardly wait!!! Read the full blog.

Season 3, Episode 2: A Helping Hand

Wayne and I were blessed with two daughters and two sons.  All four of the kids were born within a five year span which meant that they were all teenagers at the same time.  To put it mildly, the hormones bounced off the walls at our house.  To complicate matters, if the kids weren't bickering with one another they were butting heads with Wayne and me.

Many of the plot points in the Cedar Cove books involving the relationships between Olivia and Justine and Grace and her two daughters evolved out of that time with my own young adult daughters.  Read the full blog

Season 3, Episode 3: Something’s Gotta Give

Growing up my brother was a pest.  There's no other way to describe him.  For most of our years together we had a love/hate relationship common among siblings.  Actually, I should probably thank my brother for giving my publishing career its initial start.  I kept a diary back in those days, starting around the time I was in the sixth grade.  Fact is, I still write in one daily but I'm more sophisticated now and call it my journal . . . but I digress. Read the full blog

The Power of Positive Thinking

Some days it’s needed more than others

I had one of those mornings yesterday.  I was up and heading to the pool for my half mile of laps and feeling righteous.  I tore into the water only to find that my goggles leaked—bad!  (If you’re a swimmer you know how annoying that is.)

Seeing my struggles, the lifeguard suggested I turn the goggles upside down.  It worked!  That’s a great analogy for life, isn’t it?  Gaining a new perspective by looking at matters a different way.  It helps us to make adjustments in our way of thinking and our behavior.  And trust me, I needed that positive attitude because a short while later I got trapped in an elevator, all by myself, in a basement. Luckily I had my cell phone with me and I was rescued in short order.

Yup, it was one of those days!

Summer Fun

Wayne and I, along with friends Ed and Diane, headed off on a five day wine tour in Yakima and Walla Walla last week.  Washington State is the largest wine producing state behind California. Boy did we have fun and boy was it hot.  The temperature rose to 113 in Walla Walla on Sunday.  That’s Africa hot!  We arrived home exhausted, exhilarated and with a ton of incredible wine.

As you enter this 4th of July holiday, I hope you will find time to enjoy your favorite pastimes as well as your family.

A Beautiful Bride & Handsome Groom

Wayne and I have some exciting news to share.  Our son Ted was married to Irina Nelson this weekend.  The nuptials took place on our front lawn in a small, private ceremony with family and two of Irina’s closest friends.  The bride was beautiful and Teddy-Boy never more handsome. Ted and Irina met at a conference dealing with grief after the loss of our son Dale, Ted’s younger brother.  This marriage is evidence once again how God can turn our sorrows into joy.
