Fingers crossed for an extension of Ash's daily posts beyond April

eyelashleye:

A debt of emails. Marisol writes “…how do you find/make time to write?” “…concentration” To which I still haven’t responded b/c the answer is “Barely.” And she also writes To understand local fights around Hays Street and HemisFair, we have to think global,in other words—which means understanding the shift to neoliberal forms of capitalism insofar as these shape urban governance, and by extension, the production of urban space. And also Whose mobilities, and what kind, are given preference now . So I want for there to be an answer b/c Marisol is a brilliant and good writer and I want her to keep writing forever. And “…because my whole life there have been people and forces, like some men and mortality, who have tried to keep me from writing, and fuck them.” (Anne Boyer). And also, as Anne mentioned, Bernadette Mayer’s “Eve of Easter” and — backup — is to write with concentration the by-product of a system of men with babysitters and shorter work weeks? People rich enough for the childcare to write outside a wage? People with luck? I can steal writing this right now b/c my child is sleeping and it’s saturday — or as Bernadette entwines the literary forebarer with the sleeping child literature slips between the spaces of the antecedents who want to nurse. “caring for the babies of these guys.” When my child wakes up he will want to steal loquats from the neighbor’s yard, and he will call them “klumclots” and I will tell him eat everything but the seed. That is can we sustain a look long enough to see the systems which produce the spaces in which we write even outside of concentration? Are there methods to glance the structure briefly enough to see where to destroy it? what is preservation (of memory) in provisional space? Even before I had a child I had to put children in my poems b/c isn’t the want to take care of someone else’s child a radical gesture? an incorporation. that it isn’t an issue of ownership? that care is work, but that it shouldn’t be solitary.

What are the theories of the representation of children in poems?

Not a list of don’ts, but ways? And not a hierarchy. In Lumiere Brother’s _Repas de Bebe_ baby Andee enters the screen w/o the expectations of the hollywood starlet but the expectations of the bourgeoisie upon her.  “The projection of Repas de Bebe and publication of Studies on Hysteria in 1895 conjoin cinema and psychoanalysis in a way that becomes fully apparent after the appearance of Freud’s Interpretation of Dreams…. cinema provides a public version of dreaming….” But I’m thinking of Dan Thomas Glass’s Kate and Sonia poems and Alma poems in which it never feels to me that daughters are merely projection or muse.
…my real love for you
as I lived it, in exactly
these colors.

"...hers was a little poem broken into days..." - Ash Smith

eyelashleye:

Suggest Solution 1, Solution 2, etc. Pulled the string from the mouth of an alligator.  to close like piano keys you need to open the idea of the overhead branches and the halowaters.  clink. He feeds her green grapes, white grapes, red milk all through the night. so that the answers make more sense when you divide the question from the strictness of its premises. As in how did you know no one knew me? how does the bird live inside on parasites. crystal eye. tar delirium. blue sulfur. hers was a little poem broken into days. Not to say that the camera ever created the action. The device’s “edgeless relation to the eye” (dana ward) and how the body is mostly made of bacteria and relationships. how can the girl represent herself on film when she’s only a baby? now the boy interrupts me to read “Baby Ankylosaurus.” fields and fields of only grass. big spiky tail.

the smaller eco-system of the self acts on and with the eco-system of the city:

This was one of my favorite talks at the ecopoetics conference—funny, energizing, stubborn in a great way, etc.

“why should i surrender my alterity for greater political action? the activist’s alterity is their political action, yet often the activist’s alterity is suspect, termed a cultural construct. what if this alterity were actually from the inside of the individual. what if the difference was not constructed, but self-imagined?”

So I'll just turn my own tumblr over to Ash Smith for the month! Guitar!

eyelashleye:

Can color your hair with magic markers b/c less permanent / time consuming. Can apply marker to your fingernails and toes then finish with a clearcoat. The movie of a garden on the bridge. Kids who had to go the the army surplus store to buy the boots which expressed how there is no outside to the army surplus store. Except perhaps in recesses of the body outside the law.

The tall glass buildings of San Antonio and their deliberative flowers

    The libraries rehabilitated from walmart

The resacas of cameron county like the river’s receipt

The traffic of our need, endlessly

and then some days it was as if the traffic simply parted as if the erasure of the workday was over and we could reach our loved ones again

and then somedays you cannot like this post because this item has been removed or is no longer available

and then somedays the official picutre’s white bra / black shirt
and then somedays the convenience store to buy mentos and bandages
and then somedays the hummingbird eye to eye and it’s iridescent wings green of the philodendron
and then somedays the ledge becomes farther and farther from the precipice
and then somedays our children eat stickers of the twentieth century
and then somedays their eyes glow with the understanding of an iridescent outside of military surplus vulnerable as pink gecko skin but extending everywhere by way of fingertips in the night
and then somedays the stars the stars the stars

and then days of the cubicle of our discontent
      days of the lost leaf

                                                                                   days of bpa free cups
days of five more minutes but the minutes keeps growing
