"I Heard It On The Radio…Oh-oh-OHH…"

Yup, I'm talking a lot about this, which should let you know that I'm terribly nervous, lol. I'll be over at "Other Worlds Of Romance" on Blog Talk Radio tonight, reading a sneak peek into "Deceiving The Protector" tonight!

I'd love it if any readers would stop by and listen. I think there's a Q&A afterward too, so there might be a chance to hear what's coming next while we're at it!

Hope to see you there!

Dee

Holy Crap, I Won!

I'm still in a certain state of shock, but it's really true. The Fantasy, Futuristic & Paranormal chapter of RWA awarded "Tempting The Enemy" with the 2011 Prism for Dark Paranormal! It tied with "Assassin's Kiss" from Monica Burns, which a great honor!

What makes this really great is that I'm gearing up for the release of the newest book in the Resurrection Series, "Deceiving The Protector".

As part of that, I'm going to be touring the internet quite a bit in coming months. :) Starting off first with a reading this Monday on Blog Talk Radio with Linda Mooney. I'm going to be reading never before released section of the book so I'd love to have as many of you out there as possible. :) I'll be posting more information on my events calendar coming soon, so be sure to keep a look out. :)

Oh, and before I forget to update y'all, we opted to make a new cover for Undercover Lovers! Would love to hear your thoughts on it!

Romance Trading Cards: Deceiving The Protector

You know, when I first wrote that Tate was a deadly, rugged but beautiful guy, I really never expected to find him. But believe it or not, I totally DID! He totally needed to be shared, too. And since I have a set for Pale and Jade for the first book, you KNOW I had to get some for Tate and Lia now that Book 2 is coming, right??

Whatcha think?

The Trouble With Being Interesting…

There's a big difference between being interesting and being entertaining. I like to think I entertain folks. I like to make them laugh and tell stories and change perspectives. It's a good time. But for myself to be interesting?

I find that concept to be the most difficult one to make work.

I do laundry all the time. I long to soak in a deep, hot tub full of bubbles (Calgon, you bastid!) and yes, I occasionally hide in the bathroom to do my writing. And I watch movies while I do dishes because I hate doing dishes. Pretty much, I'm not terribly interesting. As you can imagine, this makes me an unengaging telephone conversationalist, too, lol. I guess you could say I have the majority of my adventures on the page.

I wish that meant I had less drama to deal with, but such is life, right? On the upside, I've read several awesome books of late and played some LA Noire with a friend… Cause a good story comes on many venues. :)

What have you all been doing?

So…Where The Hell Has She Been?

Howdy Folks!

Yup, the Monday/Friday schedule fell apart–temporarily–but I have good reasons. :) You know how sometimes friends go away for a while or clam up because really they're working on something really huge and then they call you and tell you they had a kid? Yeah, something like that.

So, as many of you know, I got heinously sick last Winter. As close to pneumonia as you can get with some ugly complications on the side. So, as you can imagine, I had to listen when my hubby told me to slow down. I started sleeping at night, can you believe it? Well, am all better, but in the interim, I was actually sneakily working on a sooper-seekrit project…and a not so secret one too! I'm going to post more details, but I wanted to show you the pics of my new kids!

Undercover Lovers & Deceiving The Enemy!

An Anthology by Dee Carney, Chloe Cole, Cari Quinn & Dee Tenorio

Four ultra-sexy stories by four great authors, with one theme!

Who's Undercover?

Shane Madison – Dead sexy private eye posing as a Strippendale's dancer

Tucker Lamb – Smooth as butter former conman posing as nerdy professor

Saffron Burton – Sensual food critic posing as just another customer

Katrina Killian – Brazenly sexual cop posing as a gang member!

This is the first self-pub venture for all four of us and we're SO excited about it! If you've been reading me over the last couple of years, you'll be thrilled to know this is another contemporary with a bit of suspense! My story, Convicted, has it's own fun blurb:

Convicted by Dee Tenorio — Crusty sheriff Cade Evigan doesn't date convicts, not even ones as irresistible as Katrina "K.K." Killian. The woman may have gotten under his skin—and once, on the hood of his car—but the sultry biker had criminal written all over her. He has to stay away.

When the crap hits the fan and the case she's been working on for two years cracks wide open, Katrina heads straight to the hills to protect the one man she cares about. But some temptations are impossible to resist and she knows if she stays with Cade for the night, odds are her cover isn't the only thing getting blown…

Click HERE to read about all the stories! Or click HERE to just go buy it (with my eternal thanks attached!)!

And I also have the new cover for "Deceiving The Protector"!

The mate he never wanted may be the woman he can never have…

After a series of murders is discovered along the trail of the Shifter Underground, wolf soldier Jensen Tate is assigned to find and protect a missing stray. But Lia Crawford doesn't want his protection. When she eludes his watch and returns with mysterious injuries, Tate knows she's hiding something. To find out what, he'll have to win her trust…and get closer to the woman he thinks may be his mate.

Lia has reasons to keep her distance. The killer is haunting her steps, determined to claim her. He will come after them both if he sees how drawn she is to Tate, though it becomes increasingly difficult to deny her attraction to him. Protecting Tate is vital – but will her deception cost her his love?

Sound good? Well, if that wasn't enough, guess what else?

Tempting The Enemy FINALED in the 2011 Prism Contest!!

So, I'll be biting my nails until Nationals–esp since the competition is pretty stiff, lol!–but I promise to let you know if yours truly actually wins.

So that's me, folks! Back on the blog and ready to roll. What about you? What have you been up to while I've been MIA?

Catch up, Update, Back up…

I've been chasing my tail for months. Laundry, cleaning, filing, writing, work, promotions, computer back up. If I'm not behind on one thing, I'm behind on something else. So, this weekend I decided to take on the big chunk of stuff I'm behind on and get organized again.

Apparently, if you don't clean out your email for 4 months, it piles up. I'm on Day 2 and have just tamed the beast down to 998 emails left to go. I've also been updating my site–I have series pages for ALL my series now!! And updates on Tate!!–and I've brought my coming soon pages up to date as well. Yay, my slacker coat is coming off!

Still have a LOT of filing before I can back up the computer, but I'm getting there. Call it spring cleaning, computer style!

So, what about all of you? What is your Spring Cleaning plans? Making anything new or are you a "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" kinda soul? :)

Good Friday

Okay, so I didn't get a RITA nomination, I had a hell of a good time chatting with other wanna-noms on twitter while we waited to find out. Some day. I think. My belly is still sore from the wait, but I can't complain. I made a lot of new friends from it, too!

So, now I have to concentrate on what I'm going to be up to next. Which would be…RT. Maybe if I schmooze people there, they might review me a little, eh? LOL!

Seriously, I'm planning to be there, all guns blazing. But if I'm not at the Book Fair, be sure to try to find me at the bar. I'm bound to be in one of them! LOL!

Review: The Twisted Tale Of Stormy Gale

Upfront, I have to say that yes, Christine Bell is a friend of mine. Which is more to explain how I got an ARC of a book that isn't out until April 25th than anything else. Because friend or not, if I don't like the book, I'm not going to lie.

I did not like this book.

I LOVED this book.

(Scared you for second there, didn't I?)

So here's the premise–Stormy Gale is a time traveler who, along with her adopted brother Bacon (whom you can't help but love and want to cuddle and smack in the back of the head sometimes) uses a watch-looking device devised by their adoptive father to right wrongs in the past. (Don't worry, there's explanations on how this is okay. Stormy isn't about to go back in time and set off the Butterfly Effect, she's not that kinda girl) But when Bacon loses his, Stormy has to get the device back. Immediately. The man she has to get it from, however, turns out to be far more of an adventure than Stormy has faced ever before.

Why Did I Love This Book: Well, first off, the emotion. From her oft-exasperated big sister love for her brother to her bewildered love for her hero, Stormy is honest, and far more fleshed out than one would think could happen in a novella sized book. I loved Bacon, the equally sweet and occasionally clueless guy who would go to the ends of the earth (and has) for his big sister. I fell totally for Dev, Stormy's hero, who actually made me cry for all the things he'd been through and boy, if ever a man deserved his happy ending (and yes, take that any way you like). But ultimately, I loved Stormy. For someone so tough and jaded, in her heart she's a marshmallow and it's great to see her drop those layers and walls one by one for the guy who deserves the girl inside.

Things That Might Not Work For Folks: Well, I don't claim to be an expert on steampunk, but I think if you're looking for traditional steampunk, this might not be what you're expecting. It's a great story, don't get me wrong. There's some awesome details to the Time Travel Machine, but you shouldn't go in expecting corsets and trains, if you know what I mean. :)

The Twisted Tale of Stormy Gale is, in a word, a triumph. For the author to create so realistic a set of characters and the worlds they inhabit, it's what I would call a master class on short writing. I read, I laughed, I cried and I sighed. I think, when April rolls around, so will you. Keep an eye out for this one and anything else you can find from Christine Bell.

Busy Week…

Earlier this week, I awoke to an urgent message that a friend of mine had lost her husband in a senseless crime. Fatin has been so supportive to me, kind and generous, especially when I was in similar shoes to the ones she's wearing now. So, when I heard, I immediately offered to do anything that she needed, to help in any way I could. But, because Fatin is exactly that kind, generous and genuine person I described earlier, I wasn't the only one. Which is why Operation: Auction was created. An auction to benefit Fatin and her four children in this time of tragedy.

Speaking as someone who has been picked up and supported by the Romance Community before, it would not only mean so much if everyone reading this takes a look at the items on auction and makes a bid, but I know that it would benefit the family in ways you cannot begin to imagine.

To see the items up for auction, click Here.

In other news, my twins turn four this week. I have NO idea how that happened. (One, it's actually gone really quickly and two, it's a miracle we haven't done each other in yet!) So, we're celebrating by eating too much and behaving like, well, four year olds. So, I'm going to skip my weigh in this week. Next week…next week, the goal is 4lbs lost.

I'm also finishing up editing on "Deceiving The Protector". And, because I'm a glutton for self-imposed stupidity, I'm also creating some Romance Trading Cards for the series. I'm going to be sneaking to RT this year, so I'm very much hoping to have them all set and on hand for the event. I'll be sure to post them here for y'all to see.

Hugs all,

Dee
