Winter Sunset, Stone State Park
Winter Sunset, Stone State Park, a photo by ZetteG on Flickr.
I am testing the link between Flikr and this blog just to see if I can post from there to Joyously Prolific. This looks like it could be great if it works because I always try to put a picture with a post. I am using Lightroom 4 to upload to Flikr and to manage my photos, so all in all, this might be a great time-saver.

Chapter Twenty-Seven
Katashan awoke to the sound of a fierce storm and the gray
light of another day. Someone stood at
the door talking to Cork. He saw a halo
of hair, light shimmering around her as Cork glanced towards the bed.
"Yes, he's awake now.
We'll be down in a few minutes, love. "

The Trouble with the New Rules of Marketing
I'm sure you've all heard it: "Get out there and build your author platform before you are published!"
In moderation, this might even be a reasonably good idea. But here are the two places where it goes wrong:
1. The most obvious is that writers suddenly give up writing for marketing, and give marketing far too much attention when they should be focusing on their novels and writing the

Flash Friday # 26 -- Working with Trolls
Working with Trolls
by
Lazette Gifford
The street had enough potholes that I had to skip around them, probably adding half a block to the trip from the van to the building. My partner for today didn't have any trouble though. The huge Rock Troll stomped his way across the cement, flattening a lot of it to a fine dust. Might make driving better for the locals.
"That's the

Projects for 2013: Merry Go Round Blog Tour #18
On the first day of January I started my first project for 2013, having (as I always do) finished up all the drafts of stories I had started in the year before. The first story for this year is the third Summerfield novel, Winter Warning. It's going very well and over 30k already. So plainly, I'll be working on another project pretty soon! This is the blurb for the first Summerfield

Fordel and Cork moved to each side of Katashan, putting him
safely between them. He didn't argue or distract them as the ten warriors
closed in. The newcomers did not, praise
the gods, rush straight in for the kill, even though they kept their weapons up
and ready.

Flash Friday # 25 -- Sanctuary from the Night
He
saw the village; not a place he'd visit under normal circumstances. Tomi glanced at the woods where darkness
spread within the already shadowed grounds.
No turning back.
He
hurried past rice fields where peasants worked, their heads bowed in fatigue, mat-woven
hats hanging listlessly from their backs.
He wanted to go home, but there would never be that chance again. Bitterness
