Midsommar Thoughts

I watched Midsommar this afternoon. I thought I'd share my first impressions of it here while I have some spare time on my hands.

Skip my prattle if you haven't seen it yet and don't want any spoilers - just in case I write something that I don't consider a spoiler, but you do. We'll leave it at that.

The setup is this:
After a horrific family tragedy, a young woman (Dani), finds out that her shitty boyfriend (Christian) is leaving in two weeks on a month+ trip to Sweden with his budd...

Candy, Candy, and Black Cats

It's Halloween month - woohoo! I'm ready for tricks and treats, and black cats, and lots of candy....x2 the candy for me, please, and the cats.

I've got a nasty head cold right now, and I've been taking vitamin C, reishi mushroom, and drinking spearmint tea at every turn trying to stave off a sore throat. Ugh. Sick germ weather. Never fails.

Anyway, I'm in a great mood today, despite the on and off fever and sweats. I made a green tea smoothie with almond milk this morning because there was not...

You Got The Fire, Babe

Song of the day, Def Leppard's Love and Affection. Easily my favorite song off the Hysteria album.
I've had a severe case of writer's hangover all day. Rest assured it's nothing to do with any substances, just words. And word counts. The official definition from the CZ Lexicon is immediately below.

writer's hangover: n. 1. the result of someone writing all night with no consideration given for the next day
2. the result of writing all night instead of sleeping like a normal perso...

Skulls and Apples

This morning, before the alarm went off, I dreamed I was standing around in a dusty barn that was set up like a classroom, with student desks facing a bigger, teacher's desk. There was sawdust on the floor and bits of hay was raining down everywhere. The only other person there was a severe-looking woman with a tight hair bun and wearing a navy blue dress. She was sitting at the teacher's desk shuffling papers. I started to sit at one of the desks in the back, but she called me by name and to...

I Wanna Be With You Everywhere

Today was eye doctor day for both Mini and me. It was his first visit since his teacher noticed he couldn't see the whiteboard all that well. He did great, though he said he jumped when they did the little puff of air pressure test. Jay said he nearly jumped out of his seat. Mini thought it was hilarious in retrospect. Of course, I had the eye puff test right after him, so I all cringe about it when I sat down. The technician kinda laughed and said, "You're wiggling all over the place."...

Iridology, anyone? I've got a Hamsa in my eye.

My little Hamsa. An Eye of Fatima shaped nevi in my eye.
It even has the little eye in the center of the hand. Go figure. We were in Ruston to do some shopping earlier today, and before leaving town, we dropped by the Walpurgis Mart optometrist to make appointments for both myself and McBeast.

McBeast is overdue an appointment, and I've been feeling a lot of pressure in my right eye lately, so I figured it's time to get all that sorted out.

Anyway, I figure the eye pressure could be related to p...

Harvest Moon - Friday the 13th

Transformation + Karmic Cycles + Spiritual Evolution
How's the Pisces Full Moon treating you?  It's been punishing for me and quite a few people I know. I haven't talked about it much out of respect for others, but one of MiniBeast's close friends recently lost his brother...in the same way my half-brother died when I was 17. (That I have/had a half-brother (surprise!) or rather, three half-brothers, is a shock-topic for another day.)

When I heard the news from Mini, I nearly fainted. The...

WASPocalypse 2019

Wasps keep getting into the house, and it's making me paranoid af. I don't know where they're coming from (other than from outside where they frikkin belong, obviously), and this only makes it a thousand times worse.

First thing this morning, I made breakfast for Snick, then left him to watch videos and eat while I fell across the bed and checked my emails. In the middle of reading some junk piece, I heard a bzz bzz and looked up and there were three @#$%!!! wasps crawling around on the ceilin...

Drafting Blitz and More

I made a heap of book cards recently.
These are my favorites from the last batch!
Hello, September!  Are y'all as ready as I am to feel the temperature drop? Bring on the hot cocoa and bunny slippers weather. My cozy, genie pajama pants are on standby, but it's still too hot to wear them to bed at night. Soon, my lovelies...soon.

Omg, y'all, I have a big confession to make. My abs are so. frikkin. sore.

Yes, I did it to myself, so the joke is on me. But I'm down a little over ten...
