Mint Tea, Vitamin C, and Zinc

I'm combatting a bronchial infection, so I haven't felt very festive over the past couple of days, but I did have a very nice Christmas with the family.

After we got home from Mom and Dad's, it was like my immune system said, "Ok, doll, we got you through the important parts. Now we're going on vacation." I managed to get everything cleaned up, the presents and food put away, then I collapsed in bed and have been there on and off ever since.

I knew I was coming down with McBeast's cold the day...

Merry Christmas 2019

Do y'all have all your gifts wrapped at this point? I still have a stack waiting on me in the dining room. I don't know why I keep putting off handling it. Lack of tape? Lack of energy? Lack of hot cocoa? It could be any of those reasons. I'm pretty sure I do this to myself every year, though, so no worries. :p

Hubz is working Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, so we're going to Mom and Dad's tomorrow before he has to leave for work to do our holiday family gathering. I'm looking forward to...

All The Bloggy Things: Gearing Up For Christmas

I had to look at the calendar right quick to figure out what day it is. Yes, it's been that busy around here. But hey, it's Friday. *dance, dance* Happy Friday to all!

We're gearing up for Christmas in my neck of the woods. We have the tree up, and I've been baking Christmas cookies at every turn. Yesterday we took extra baking pans to mom's house for the big day next week. I was going to haul presents over there, too, but realized I still have gifts to wrap, so no point in transporting the...

Revisions Update: Act One Clean-up Process

It's Saturday night, and I'm at home drinking hot cocoa and revising. Exciting, no?

On either Thursday or Friday (it all blends), I transferred my story (NaNoWriMo story) from Vellum to Scrivener and divided up my manuscript into four acts. The next morning, I pulled out my cantankerous old printer and after a little coaxing, cursing, and tech voodoo, I managed to get Act One printed up. It ended up being about 28 printed pages if I remember right.

Then, late last night, I settled in with the...

Christmas Month Is Here, So Are Revisions

I hope you all had a lovely Thanksgiving. We had a nice Thanksgiving breakfast since Hubz had to work nights. Usually, we have dinner with my parents, but it wasn't possible this year. Even so, Mom wanted to cook the meal for us (it's her thing) so after work hubby picked up a wrapped dinner from my parents' house and brought it home to us. We ate it for breakfast, which was technically dinner for Hubz. Very non-traditional, but we had a fun breakfast and it was overall a wonderful holiday. I...

Thanksgiving Week Brainstorming

It's Thanksgiving week, y'all. I can't help but be in a good mood. The pantry is full, the weather is cozy, and McBeast is out of school, which means I don't have to be up at 6 am every morning.

I prefer to write at night after everyone in the house is asleep, but usually, I can't stay up too, too late. Not much past one in the morning, anyway, or I'm barely able to crawl out of bed the next day.

Not so during the holidays! I've been staying up until about 2am writing, and I can sleep until...

NaNoWriMo Progress Check-In #5

Happy Friday, everyone. It's 1:37 am, and I'm about to go to bed. First I wanted to update my NaNoWriMo progress, because I totally forgot to update at 38k, even though I had a marker made for it.

I did 12 timed writings throughout yesterday and early this morning, and managed to get my project up to 40,057 words. That puts my project at 80% complete according to the NaNo stat calculators. (On the NaNo site, scroll your mouse over your word count circle on the stat page and it will...

NaNoWriMo Progress Check-In #4

I wrapped up my fifth writing session for the day just a few minutes ago. I've been doing 10 and 20 minute timed writings all day, and around 3:45 pm, I hit 35k. Now that I've reached that goal marker, I'm taking a break for a couple of hours. It will give me a chance to relax my brain, visit with family and go over notes. If I have any energy left in me later on tonight, I may try to hit another couple of timed sessions. We will see.

I haven't been able to hit a lot of the timed w...

NaNoWriMo Progress Check-In #3

I reached 30k on my NaNoWriMo story earlier today. Whew, I'm still chugging along with this thing. The planning/prep has helped muchly. After I hit the big 3-0, I took a break to do some household chores. I needed to step away from the screen (and my story) for a little while. I'm going to relax my mind for an hour or two then dive back in for a late-night writing session.

Tomorrow is Veteran's Day. I have to stop and give a shout out for our men and women who have served in the ar...
