Book Reviews on Amazon

I have to thank all of the following people who have taken the time to leave reviews on my novels on Amazon. As I am an independent publisher and don’t have the money to spend on advertising like the big guns. Reviews translate into my bread and butter, literally. If you have read a copy of any of my books, I would really appreciate if you left an honest review on Amazon or Apple or Kobo or Goodreads…you get it.

A Filly Called Easter has a new look for 2018

[image error]Robin, aka A Filly Called Easter, is a lovely Quarter horse mare owned by my friend, Morna Kaplan. Robin appeared on the original book cover; although, it was a graphic image and not a photo. I was thrilled when I found the original photo and have now updated the cover so that everyone has an image of Easter in their mind when they read the book.

As someone who has been to many livestock auctions, I wanted to capture that moment in time when you see that special horse for the very first time and know instantly that that horse is for you. I think you will agree that this image captures that intensity of feeling.

This morning I also had the chance to listen to the first 15 minutes of the upcoming release of A Filly Called Easter in audio format, narrated by the very talented Leslie Howard. I am so excited for all of our joint fans. Leslie has captured the spunky Linda McCloud to a tee, and her narration draws you right into the story.

A Filly Called Easter Audiobook coming soon

[image error]I am so pleased to announce that the wonderful narrator and voice artist, Leslie Howard, has partnered with me once again to bring the heartwarming adventure story, A Filly Called Easter, to life in audiobook format. We hope to release the audiobook at the end of March.

I feel so very blessed and am looking forward to the finished audio.

The audiobook for One Frosty Christmas garnered some wonderful reviews on Amazon and Good Reads. Here is just one sample:

Dec 19, 2017 Vicky Hunt rated it it was amazing

Shelves: vicky-s-favorites, children-s-books

A Starving Horse and a Girl Determined to Save Him

One Frosty Christmas is a heart-warming story of a girl who finds herself transplanted away from friends in the city, to a small town where people don’t seem so welcoming. Her determined love for an abused horse, despite great personal danger, soon captures the hearts of the entire town. But, will love for a beaten animal be enough to save a life?

Laura Hesse’s writing is both realistic and enchanting. By the time I finished the story, I was disappointed that it was over. It’s definitely one of those books you don’t want to end. But, more than that, the story gives a glimpse into the life of a child with a prosthetic limb. Without giving a spoiler, the ending is perfect. I would love to see this story made into a movie!

I requested and received a copy of the audiobook free for review purposes. The narration is of excellent quality, so much so that I became totally immersed in the story. Leslie Howard’s voice is not only finely measured for reading aloud, but she reads with expression and brings the characters to life. I noticed that the book is part of the Riverbend Trilogy available on Kindle. Hopefully, the other two books: The Great Pumpkin Ride, and a Filly Called Easter, will be available on Audible soon, with the same Narrator. I recommend this story for all young adult readers who love horses.

TOP 1000 REVIEWER

4.0 out of 5 stars “Stealing is wrong, Hannah Storey…but if you won’t go see Joseph, Bob, or write to Santa, I’ll help you anyway.”

December 19, 2017

Format: Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase

1) Why I chose this book : Lengthier book that remained near the top of 100 best seller children’s Christmas books so thought I’d give it a read

2) Any course language present : None I noted

3) Type of book : Adventure story surrounding a horse and a girl whom came to care for it

4) Formatting/Editing : Just a few miscues like a word out of order “Why they were being so mean?” (should be ‘were they”) loc. 73, added word needing dropping “It must have been an important” (drop the word ‘an’) loc. 710 and adding a letter when needed “All-for-one and,” Johnny started. “On-for-all..” (needs an ‘e’) loc. 1356.

5) Best/Worst aspect of book : Loved the locations of the Athabasca River and town of River Bend as well as Indian heritage of secondary character

6) Favorite passage : “Someone loved you once. They aren’t here anymore, but I am.”

7) Bottom-line : Very good read in the vein of “Black Beauty” as mentioned in book description making for a worthy read that I did enjoy!

An inspirational story of change after a new beginning. Tears and heart wrenching moments keep the listener holding on for a happy ending.

The narration was well done. The characters were well portrayed. Leslie Howard was a perfect choice for this project!
