Aforementioned: aphorisms and questions for 2015

Troublesome law: A species cannot stop doing what it has always done. Were this not true of us, we would have rethought science by now. It is now probing territory that runs absolutely contrary to the survival interests of the species that nurtured it. Wisdom should tell us to turn away from those paths, but, as with all species, our genes push us to continue to probe our limits. Scientists will never pull back from the next step, because they can't help themselves.

Aforementioned: aphorisms and questions for 2015

The apocalypse: invention of testosterone crazed control freaks - a self-fulfilling prophecy? http://goo.gl/WwTE1  Everything that you will find if you open this url I regard as fantasy fiction. No one could argue with my contention that it is testosterone driven. For example, the pronoun she hardly makes an appearance except to do something like bear a male child. Go figure. How many women can you count in this picture? Weird. Picture Picture What example of a woman can you site who showed any desire to emulate the role of the above apocalypse-spouting vessel of testosterone. Picture Who invents these idiotic images? Would we care about them if we hadn't worked so hard to make them a real possibility?

Aforementioned: aphorisms and questions for 2015

To make it through the bottleneck of the 21st century,  we must begin at last to prepare for the renewed and restored world that lies beyond the bottleneck. There's a syllogism hidden here. if the only way to save ourselves is to work to improve the health of the biosphere, then what follows must be something worth dreaming about.

Like the madness of one, the madness of the whole is beyond its control. Picture Picture "Hamas11" by Michelchaton - Own work. Licensed under CC BY-SA 3.0 via Wikimedia Commons - http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Hamas11.jpg#mediaviewer/File:Hamas11.jpg The plague of Homo sapiens is now presenting itself as a terrible attack on the heath of Gaia. Can we help ourselves? The answer has to be yes, although there is little precedent in nature for spontaneous reversal of disease, once it has reached its critical stage. In case you are wondering, the top picture is Gustav Dore's rendering of the Children's Crusade in which children set off to the Holy Land in the pious belief that they could convert Muslims to Christianity. There were apparently many separate incidents that have been conflated in our time as the Children's Crusade. As many as 30,000 children may have perished in one such venture. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Children's_Crusade

As things are going, male rule will destroy the planet. Would women rule over a golden age of the biosphere? Picture Picture
