Take up your arms sons and daughters.

You can tell them about that spring you spent with me. I mostly wore the same jeans that you knew the pocket corners with your growing teeth. I wonder if new kittens will try and wager bigger bite marks in everything I wear that is metal: my watch, my keys, my belt buckle, my glasses. I think there is a sort of confusion and comfort in your constant purr and trapped attitude that I've found in the last couple of days. It is about time that I've freed you from that. A bigger better life is cer...

I've got a pocket full of change and I don't want to go home.

I was lucky enough to hear this song live tonight, and it recharged my heart. Anais is my guardian angel, from her golden hair to her never still toes that aftershock the rhythm of her core. Her soul walks through these precocious vocal chords that define courage as they breathe sentiment. It is astonishing the amount of love that she can express.

In between sets I ran into my friend Kelly McFarling, and for some reason after a number of drinks, I found the one question I most wanted to a...

Remember when memories were forgettable?

I’ve always wanted to write stories that get stuck in my head like songs do. I’ve known a fair amount of stories by Kundera and Carver and Hempel and Munro that I must read again and again like songs. I have a feeling that this painting will rest, and then be called upon in a state of recapitulation in very much the same manner.
Picture     The painting is titled, “Adieu,” or goodbye. I love that it wrestles with everything, the waves, the goodbye, life, love, stability, death.
    Ulti...

Unsolved Meow-steries?

It is with my deepest regrets that I formally announce my resignation from writing. I have decided upon a career shift that may in fact garner me the respect, success, and accreditation that I believe I deserve in this short lived and shallow world.
In the coming weeks Finnegan and I will be shopping our pilot episode for a buddy cop series that we have been very much hard at work on for what feels like hundreds of hours in the past three to four days of knowing each other. As it turns out h...

"I like the word endearing, and I like that you are synonymous with it."

“You openly lied to me on our first date.”
    “We’re almost there, I promise.”
“I can’t remember the last time I was blindfolded.”
I have only known everything to go combinations of terrible and perfect. In either case, there is a sort of reluctance that jockeys my rolling eyes when it all falls apart, or the crescendo spoils me speechless.
In truth, I was asking more than too much driving a blindfolded semi-stranger into a pitch black field extremely late at night. Then again I...

It's caterday!!!

Picture This is my little prince, his name is Finnegan. I am his protector until he is strong enough to journey the world. He is a well respected blue eyed lady killer, and his hobbies include purring like he gets paid for it, as well as climbing all over me.

"You seem increasingly like a fictional character."

I haven't been on a date in years.
So when she asked me if I liked spicy thai food, I said yes.
For all I know, I may have some glorious new inclination for a cappella music as well. That is, as long as it is executed with great and various sensitivities.
I may also tirelessly want to take up propagating carnivorous plants. After all, I do like to watch hunger wait, just sit, and wait, as venus fly traps so often do.
The menu’s edges rested within her pink fingernails, and I...
