THE GREATEST STORY NO ONE WANTED TO SEE TOLD: MIKE N...

THE GREATEST STORY NO ONE WANTED TO SEE TOLD:
MIKE NERO'S TELEVISION CROSSOVER TIMELINE

This silhouette tells it all!
And if you think this timeline won't be an interesting read, well, howl you know unless you give it a whirl?

Who is Mike Nero, you may ask (though more likely, you won't)? Michael Alexander Nero is a monster hunter who effectively serves as an avatar for moi (that's Christofer Nigro, to those who may actually be concerned) in various alternate universes where the laws of physics are, let's say, a lot more "lax" -- and thus, a lot more interesting -- than the mundane world outside our window.
You know, the world where exposure to radiation merely makes you puke and mucks up your chromosomes instead of causing you to grow super-large, or super-strong, or into a rampaging green monster.

Where excessive exposure to ultra-violet rays provides a good way to get painful sunburns and skin cancer instead serving as a potent weapon for obliterating vampires (well, at least some strains of vampires, that is).

Where travel to the Moon is done once every few decades when NASA feels like it, has the budget, and doesn't blow up its latest vessel, instead of a few dozen secret journeys per year by government agents, adventurers with bucks to burn, and intrepid entrepreneurs seeking the source of that strange coded signal that their exclusive computer software detected.

Where aliens are nothing more than annoyingly popular memes that populate stories, Halloween costume shops, and  the latest fake "caught on film" or "found footage" films uploaded to YouTube which highlight the wonders that computer programmers and photoshoppers with a lot of time on their hands, rather than the wonders that xenobiology throughout deep space can evolve to invariably find a means to invade our world and require us to fight for our very survival.
Yes, that universe. The mundane one that we all know and get bored with, thus requiring some of us to invent our own universes that are a lot more interesting and cool to behold.

Or, with a specific ability to "perceive" what may be going on in other universes on the other side of some dimensional veil. Whatever, you decide which; I'm just here to relieve my boredom, and I'll do that here by inflicting on you the timeline that chronicles the history of a tragic monster hunter and champion who dwells in the type of universe that we can only dream about... and, yes, sometimes write about!

The universe in question is the one we call the mainstream Television Crossover Universe, where what those of us see on the toob in this world portrayed by actors and special effects technicians "actually" occurred in, well, "reality". I know it sounds silly to many, but just go with me here and consider indulging me for a few minutes (or maybe several, if you're so inclined and still here by the time I type everything I intend to type).

Consider what you are about to read a sneak preview of sorts. Yes, you're seeing it here first! This author, who is lucky enough to have gotten published (yes! Some people read my stuff! Boo-yahh!), has every intention of starting a series of Mike Nero stories & novels, and self-publishing them through my own digital label, Wild Hunt Press. That will lead into another such universe I like to call the Wild Hunt Universe (duh!), but which the esteemed curator of the TVCU prefers to call the TVCU-32. Tomato, ta-mahto, I say! Call it whatever you prefer, as long as you're thinking about it enough to possibly consider reading about it! So, as a proud sponsor of this blog -- which means you have to tolerate my access to it with periodic entries like this (mwah-ha-hah!) -- I hereby give you a treat you never asked for: a preview of an epic saga yet to come in print, the story of... (*drum roll, followed by crickets chirping*) Mike Nero! (*cue pre-recorded track of an audience cheering*)

1968 -- Michael Alexander Nero officially enters the world in Buffalo, New York. He is born out of wedlock to a teen mom, who passes the buck of responsibility largely to her parents, who raise him much of the time. He grows up greatly misunderstood by his family, as his interests include research into the paranormal, creative writing, and all sorts of unconventional political territory instead of sports and cars (though he did really like fire trucks as a kid!). Needless to say, he is quite a handful for his family to deal with, not to mention his peers, and he grows up excessively bullied and ostracized (if you consider "absolutely hated" to be too strong a description). The resulting trauma he would experience because of this wasn't pretty for all concerned, to say the least.

1970s -- Mike grows up during a rather extraordinary decade. He became a huge fan of horror, sci-fi, and fantasy films. Of particular interest to him was the vintage Universal Monster movies, which regularly played on TV during those years, and whose depiction of a shared universe fascinated him. Mike always suspected there was much truth behind the "fiction" in these movies, but only later would he confirm this after discovering the research of many, eventually collected by and added to by Prof. Chuck Loridans and the original version of the organization created, M*O*N*S*T*A*A*H.

Mike felt a particularly strong kinship with Universal's recorded cinematic exploits of Lawrence Stewart "Larry" Talbot, the lycanthrope known as the Wolf Man, along with those of Jacob "Jack" Russoff, a.k.a., Jack Russell, the lycanthrope designated "Werewolf By Night" by the writers and artists of Marvel Comics who recorded his exploits in the comic book medium (Prof. Loridans later conjectured that Russell was related to the Talbot clan, and actually the son of Larry Talbot). See UNIVERSAL MONSTERS master file, sub-file set The Wolf Man; and LEGION OF MONSTERS master file, sub-file set WEREWOLF BY NIGHT.

Lawrence Stewart "Larry" Talbot, a.k.a., the Wolf Man, famed lycanthrope that Mike felt an early kinship with.

Artist's rendition of Jacob "Jack" Russoff, a.k.a., Jack Russell, the lycanthrope referred to as "Werewolf By Night", whom Mike likewise felt a strong kinship with.

Mike also became fascinated by kaiju films, particularly those involving Godzilla, and he also suspected that Godzilla and Mothra had actual substance behind them. See TOHO KAIJU master file set, with sub-files Godzilla and Mothra
As the decade progressed, Mike realized that it would take a monumental cover-up by a combination of many international government agencies and corporations -- as well as various strange entities -- to hide all the evidence of these events being real, leaving only the reports collected by various researchers and authors who could only present them as "fiction" via the mediums of cinema, television, prose, comic books, video games, etc. Hence, he knew he could never convince anyone of their veracity, and later came to realize the general public's belief that they were mere fiction was to their benefit.

Mike was an ardent collector of comic books, and the heroes depicted within gave him a sufficiently strong moral foundation to resist the darkness encompassing his soul due to the social trauma and ostracization (is that a word?) he was regularly subjected to. This battle between a desire to help the world and to exact vengeance upon the society he was raised in was a source of much conflict and turmoil during his formative years.
1978 -- Mike has his first paranormal encounter, with a female ghost he simply dubbed "Apparitia" (okay, so his naming skills needed some work!). Upon leading his neighborhood crew in a "Sly Club" he put together, he had various encounters with dangerous oddities plaguing his Lower West Side neighborhood, such as the Witch Woman, the Jack Dog, and a Slithis.

1981 -- By this point in time, when Mike was 13, his anger and resentment towards the treatment he received from his peers and his inability to get along with and be understood by his family had taken a terrible toll on his psyche. It was at this low point in his early life that he was approached by Rutger, a representative of the Brotherhood of Fenris. This was a large kindred of werewolves formed a decade earlier, whose leader at the time -- a savage piece of work called Gottvang -- sent various agents to recruit youthful individuals who in their judgment would expand the power and scope of the pack. Their frequent M.O. was to approach young people perceived as being likely potential supporters by the Brotherhood, and offer them the sacred mystical knowledge they required to become a shamanic lycanthrope.

They would be free to use the power any way they saw fit in exchange for joining up with the Brotherhood at a later, to be determined point in their lives that would vary depending on a variety of factors (read the upcoming published Mike Nero stories for more elaboration on this! You can't expect me to reveal it all here! And yes, that was a bit of shameless plugging on my part. Sue me, I want people to buy my books *grin*).

Symbol of the Brotherhood of Fenris

Mike eagerly accepted Rutger's offer, and after using the supplies he was given to carry out the ancient Germanic-Norse rituals to the letter, he indeed gained the power of the lycanthrope, soon taking the official code name of Beowolf (this being a permutation of  Beowulf, the legendary Danish king and superhuman hero of Norse legend whom Mike greatly admired). His inner rage and pain initially caused him to use this power to take revenge on those who hurt him. He never actually took the life of any of these people, but several of his targets were maimed and suffered permanent scars both physical and mental.

Not actually Mike Nero in his Beowolf form, but close enough!

Early 1980s --  Mike spent the next few years as an extremely "gray" figure from a moral standpoint, but as time went on he found himself having run-ins with various menaces to the Queen City and its surrounding environs that were a greater threat than himself. This entailed both paranormal foes, including final confrontations with the Witch Woman and the Jack Dog; and those of a mundane but dangerous variety, such as street gangs, kidnappers, and even a brutal serial killer.

1985 - early 1986 -- By his senior year in high school, Mike had gained a good degree of control over his inner pain, and began training in the martial arts and various mental/spiritual conditioning by young martial arts master Alan Jones, who also took the masked identity of the crime fighter Dark Justice. Mike's physical formidibility in human form increased during his two years of training with Jones, as did his versatility with inducing his lycanthropic transformations at times other than the waxing or full moon, or even during the day time for limited periods (although doing so against the flow of the positive lunar energies took a heavy toll on him). It was during this time that Mike also began studying the occult to enhance this abilities further still, which included studying Witchcraft, Norse magick, and Eastern hermetic disciplines. At the side of Dark Justice and his crew the Dark Clan, Beowolf clashed with and protected his home city from a variety of threats, everything from street gangs to an invading alien Sarmak.

Also not Mike, but so bad-ass I decided to include it anyway. Try to help that guy, I dare you!

August 1986 - April 1987 -- Mike becomes a freshman at Deamon College in the nearby large affluent town of Amherst. After arriving, he soon had a falling out with Dark Justice and left his team. To make things worse, he met LaTrella, a sultry female vampire of the Dacian strain (those connected to the Karnstein family, first introduced in Sheridan Le Fanu's novella CARMILLA and since followed up on in many other sources, including Hammer films such as The Vampire Lovers; see respective files). Mike became infatuated with LaTrella, and she exploited his feelings by starting an uneasy, cold romantic relationship with him so she had the power of a lycanthrope on her side.
During the first and most of his second semester at Deamon College, Mike was under LaTrella's thrall, and he frequently assisted in getting her the mostly male victims she desired. He justified this to himself because she had more control than a typical Dacian vampire and rarely killed any of them, but the sexual desires she fulfilled with these male victims made Mike extremely jealous. This caused his behavior to become darker and more erratic, effectively undoing all the progress he made over the previous two years.

However, during his time on the campus, where a small Hellmouth was situated, he did occasionally face off against threats to the campus than himself that were attracted to the locale due to its demonic energies, including an actual demon and his cult of devil-worshipers, a woman who could transform into a predatory giant insect, and an invasion from an otherdimensional criminal.
Towards the end of April 1986, this situation came to a major climax (and not the good kind, mind you) when Mike finally went over the edge and engaged in a vicious battle with Nayland Ralston, a male fellow student whom LaTrella made into a vampire, and with whom she attempted to replace Mike as her main paramour/thrall. Soon after Mike's narrow destruction of Nayland (with the aid of a fellow student whose sister was harmed by the vampire), a group of monster hunters descended on the campus, forcing LaTrella and Mike to flee and go their separate ways. The few other vampires she created on the campus were soon wiped out by this unidentified team of monster hunters.

May 1986 - October 1987 -- Upon fleeing Deamon, Mike/Beowolf spent nearly a year wandering about New York State in a mentally deranged state to to the trauma he suffered there, where he had various strange adventures as he slowly recouped his sanity. This included an encounter with the Barsoomian "Red Martian" police officer Cy Tharnn in New York City (see "Cy Tharnn" file).
Late 1988 - 1990 -- Mike returned to Buffalo and attempted to resume his crime-fighting career with Dark Justice, but this ended within two years when the latter's organization proved increasingly corrupt due to covert connections to a local drug czar and crimelord.
Late 1991 - Late 1992 -- Mike finally joins up with the Brotherhood of Fenris, hoping for the companionship and acceptance he always craved. During this time, he again fell under the thrall of a femme fatale, this time a female lycan named Monika. Hoping to gain the affections and attention of Gottvang, who proved to be extremely corrupt and a dangerous hater of mainstream humanity, Monika attempted use Mike towards these ends. When he realized the extent of both Monika's treachery and the immorality of Gottvang's ultimate plans, he fled the Brotherhood, hoping to find assistance to take it down.

This assistance was found with a team led by the thunder god Thor, who had again recently incarnated in corporeal humanoid form (see THOR master file; and sub-file The Return of the Incredible Hulk). The whole conflict ended with the destruction of Gottvang, Monika forced to flee the inner circle of the Brotherhood for her life, and the pack/kindred taken over by Arranka, a more moderate lycan who had no major hostilities towards the human race.

Thor in the early '90s physical incarnation where he first met Beowolf. See The Return of the Incredible Hulk sub-file.

1993 -- Mike goes a tour with Thor's hippie group of social activists, latter day flower children, Wiccans, Asatruar, Nordic warriors, and opponents of both corporate and paranormal malfeasance as the "Thor Corp." It was here that Mike adopted his highly progressive political tendencies, maximized his fighting and magickal skills, and chose to reject and resist his dark side once and for all to become a champion of the human race and a hunter of dangerous monsters & other dark paranormal phenomena. He also becomes involved with the worldwide group of progressively-minded activist champions known as the Aquarian Alliance, who are secretly run and controlled by the hidden, peaceful underwater super-civilization known as Latitude Zero (see the Latitude Zero file).

Thor and two members of his "Thor Corp." team who arrives to challenge the Brotherhood of Fenris circa 1992: the David Banner Hulk and Super-Stan.

The city of Latitude Zero

1994 -- The Thor Corp. is dissolved when the thunder god abandons his latest flesh and blood incarnation for an extended mission to Asgard. Mike is disallowed to accompany him, and was told his destiny was to be a champion of the material plane. He thus set up his status as a monster hunter, which he has continued to this day.

2000s -- Mike, as Beowolf, develops numerous contacts in the burgeoning online world, where he begins his secondary career as a writer, researcher, and social activist. These contacts includes fellow monster hunters, such as "Crazy" Ivan Ronald Schablotski, whom he exchanges research information and monster fighting theories and ideas with for many years. His set of contacts acquired during this time also includes a shared exchange network of monster hunters and paranormal researchers called the Boogie Knights, which he, Ivan, and Dale Parker -- a third monster hunter they also met through M*O*N*S*T*A*A*H's network -- created together.

However, Ivan's missions in the military and his own plethora of colorful adventures keep the two of them from meeting in person until 2016, where they did so twice (in just two months! See below). It is during this time that he also meets the famous Robert Wronski Jr. (a.k.a., Little Bobby, a.k.a.,  Super-Bob, a.k.a., Powerkid, a.k.a., Powerman [don't tell Luke Cage!], a.k.a., Rob, a.k.a., Christopher Kowalski, a.k.a... well, there are likely others, but you get the gist!), who becomes a valued part of his research circle (and whose own incredible TVCU saga is told here).

2011 -- Following the loss of his grandfather, the man who helped raise him despite their often rocky relationship, and other major upheavals in his life, Mike takes stock of matters and forms a new iteration of the Boogie Knights to more actively pursue paranormal and other unusual threats as a team. He continues networking with Ivan, Rob, and others who would eventually become part of the TVCU research group, including Matt Hickman, Gordon Long, and James Bojaciuk.

May 2016 -- Mike has his first actual meeting with Ivan Schablotski, where they team up against an escaped daikaiju (that's Japanese for "giant monster" to you laymen!) from the Taconic Mountains Wildlife Sanctuary. Ivan tracked the creature -- believed to be an escaped mega-dinosaur known as a "Godzillasaurus" -- throughout his home state of Massachusetts, but when the situation spills over into the upstate New York area, Ivan felt he had no choice but to seek help for this one, and alas, Mike Nero was the closest assistance he could call upon (if you don't understand his reluctance, well, you try spending a day dealing with Mr. Nero in addition to whatever else you're dealing with! But hey, Ivan needed the help, just like Jack Be Nimble needed the money... ).

The fracas ended up being resolved with the use of a giant radioactive chocolate bar designed by Snickers to entice an actual kaiju (it's best either not to ask, or to check Ivan's own timeline for the full skinny), a group of homo magi wizards acting incognito, and a stop at one of the infamous Sam's Mart markets corrupting the landscape of North America (but this one was more specifically corrupting the town of Summer Falls, NY).

Don't let the slogan fool you... it's not smart to shop there!

Just ask a certain employee named Ash!

And it all ended with Mike and Ivan sharing a pizza back in Buffalo. Also, I should mention that a mysterious cat appeared out of nowhere and glared at Ivan just as he approached the steps to Mike's apartment, but what that may have portended remains a mystery (that's why I used the adjective "mysterious" to refer to the cat, in case it wasn't obvious).

June 2016 -- As if their crossing paths in person the previous month wasn't enough, Mike not only met Ivan Schablotski again, but he also ran into none other than Rob Wronski Jr. himself at the SCARE-AWAY CAMP incident. This occurred in Springfield, MA where the energies of a nearby "window event" caused many unusual individuals to converge in a single area. This included infamous serial killer Angela Baker (see file on Sleepaway Camp and follow-up "sequel" file Return to Sleepaway Camp for more info), whose was reported to have fled to Springfield after wreaking havoc on the nearby Camp Fugawi following her latest escape from Arkham Asylum attracted the attention of Ivan. The latter arrived there only to find Mike was also on the scene to deal with Angela, but this time there was a conflict of methodology: though Mike didn't approve of Angela's grisly means of dealing with individuals that reminded her of the people at Camp Fugawi who brutally bullied her and caused her mind to snap back when she was 13 (the same age Mike was when he first became a lycanthrope), he nevertheless saw her as a kindred spirit and sympathized with her plight.

Not exactly the DC Trinity, but they'll do in a pinch! Hey, they took down Samhain, right?

Difficulties were bound to arise, and the arrival of many other strange entities, including a mute Jason Vorhees copycat, an acrobatic midget serial killer, the Frankenhooker, and the powerful demonic being Samhain (whom the Ghostbusters have clashed with before; see the "Samhain" sub-file from The Real Ghostbusters master file), meant they needed to call for more outside help. Soon, the team of monster hunters and Electro-Shock Band known as the Deadites, contacted via the Grand Guignol Radio Network, where at the scene, and Patsy the Angry Nerd and Agent Nicole were on hand to lend a hand.

They may not seem like the Dynamic Duo at first glance, but they are to me! You couldn't possibly have a better monster hunting duo at your side in a crisis than Patsy the Angry Nerd and Agent Nicole. Listen to their way cool podcast Throwdown Thursday! Because it's cool!

Additionally, an enchanted statue head of a Cyclopean Frankenstein Monster that Mike brought to help deal with the situation seemed to cause as many problems as it resolved, however. It should also be mentioned that Mike was generous enough to share his French fries with Ivan during a lunch break (but whenever he throws this in Ivan's face, Mr. Schablotski reminds him how he introduced Mike to Harley Quinn, who was also drawn to the SCARE-ATTACK event, and took their picture together).

After Ivan and Mike located Angela thanks to some timely assistance from Rob, Mike convinced them to allow him to attempt to talk Angela down rather than engage her in a bloody death match (despite how cool that would have been!). His nagging convinced them to enable him to try, and much to everyone's surprise, it worked. Angela agreed to peaceably return to the sanitarium where she was forced to reside (between her periodic escapes, that is), and she even agreed to be interviewed by the three on a special online podcast created by Rob's Super Entertainment network, directly from her cell at Arkham. Further, she offered to take a pic with Mike before being taken back to her usual home (until she escapes again).

Two peas in a pod.
Just don't piss them off! You wouldn't like them when they're pissed off. (Many people do not like Mike even when he's happy, but yanno what I mean.)
Also, Samhain was defeated thanks to the assistance of the Deadites, and with that entity taken down the temporary Hellmouth in Springville was successfully sealed... at least for now.

Artist rendition of Samhain, a truly big kahuna of the supernatural world.
You don't wanna run into him in a dark alley... or anywhere else, for that matter.

Early 2017 -- Mike's career as a novelist finally get's started when Severed Press publishes his "fictionalized" account of a kaiju called Dargolla, a beast of Biblical-level nastiness that embarked on a swath of destruction in a small city called Metroville (see the file DARGOLLA: A KAIJU NIGHTMARE). He had it published under a pen name, however.

Mike wrote this. Honestly!
(Yes, it's another shameless plug!)

Cyrano

Another chronology following the crossover connections to a play.  This is the first one unrelated to Shakespeare.

Savinien de Cyrano de Bergerac.JPG

From the source material:
FIRST MARQUIS: Who is this Cyrano?
CUIGY: A fellow well skilled in all tricks of fence.
SECOND MARQUIS: Is he of noble birth?
CUIGY: Ay, noble enough. He is a cadet in the Guards. But 'tis his friend Le Bret, yonder, who can best tell you. Le Bret! Seek you for De Bergerac?
LE BRET: Ay, I am uneasy. . .
CUIGY: Is it not true that he is the strangest of men?
LE BRET: True, that he is the choicest of earthly beings!
RAGUENEAU: Poet!
CUIGY: Soldier!
BRISSAILLE: Philosopher!
LE BRET: Musician!
LIGNIERE: And of how fantastic a presence!
RAGENEAU: Marry, 'twould puzzle even our grim painter Philippe de Champaigne to portray him! Methinks, whimsical, wild, comical as he is, only Jacques Callot, now dead and gone, had succeeded better, and had made of him the maddest fighter of all his visored crew--with his triple-plumed beaver and six-pointed doublet--the sword-point sticking up 'neath his mantle like an insolent cocktail! He's prouder than all the fierce Artabans of whom Gascony has ever been and will ever be the prolific Alma Mater! Above his Toby ruff he carries a nose!--ah, good my lords, what a nose is his! When one sees it one is fain to cry aloud, 'Nay! 'tis too much! He plays a joke on us!' Then one laughs, says 'He will anon take it off.' But no! Monsieur de Bergerac always keeps it on.
LE BRET: He keeps it on--and cleaves in two any man who dares remark on it!

1619--Birth of Cyrano de Bergerac.

1640--CYRANO DE BERGERAC--The classic story of the funny looking man who is both intelligent and a great fighter, who loves a woman named Roxanne that he fears sharing his feelings with.

1642--THE OTHER WORLD: COMICAL HISTORY OF THE STATES AND EMPIRES OF THE MOON--Cyrano narrates the book in the first person through a narrator also named Cyrano, as if relating his own travels. This proto-SF novel by Cyrano de Bergerac crosses-over with "The Man in the Moon" by Francis Godwin (who was apparently Jonathan Swift's great-uncle). Thanks to Andrew Brook for providing me with this information. The honor of being Mankind's first envoy to the Outer Worlds therefore fell to French nobleman Hercule Savinien Cyrano de Bergerac. (The fact that Cyrano de Bergerac indeed deserved that honor was attested by Robert Heinlein in several of his works.) More information was found from Cool Freneh Comics website! (An English translation of Cyrano's account by Don Webb can be found on the Bewildering Stories site.)
17th Century--THE FOUR MUSKETEERS--Four con men take the place of the real musketeers and manage to steal the Queen's necklace but then give it back to her, moved by her tears.  Cyrano de Bergerac is in this story.  If anyone thinks I have the chronology of these Musketeer/Cyrano crossovers out of order or if they think any of these stories conflict with the others too much to be in the same timeline, please let me know.

The Return of the Musketeers Poster

1649--THE RETURN OF THE MUSKETEERS--Mazarin hires the impoverished D'Artagnan to find the other musketeers: Cromwell has overthrown the English king, so Mazarin fears revolt, particularly from the popular Beaufort. Porthos, bored with riches and wanting a title, signs on, but Aramis, an abbé, and Athos, a brawler raising an intellectual son, assist Beaufort in secret. When they fail to halt Beaufort's escape from prison, the musketeers are expendable, and Mazarin sends them to London to rescue Charles I. They are also pursued by Justine, the avenging daughter of Milady de Winter, their enemy 20 years ago. They must escape England, avoid Justine, serve the Queen, and secure Beauford's political reforms.  Cyrano de Bergerac appears in the story.
Cyrano et d'Artagnan Poster
17th Century--CYRANO ET D'ARTAGNAN--Duelist and poet Cyrano de Bergerac and musketeer d'Artagnan meet and team up to stop the conspiracy against King Louis XIII of France.

17TH CENTURY--D'ARTAGNAN CONTRE CYRANO DE BERGERAC--This story is alluded to in Felifax, L'Homme Tigre.  This may be the same events that inspired the story "Cyrano and the Two Plumes".  My research findings were unclear on this.  If anyone can help clear this up, please let me know.

Fall 1655--TALES OF THE SHADOWMEN VOLUME 4:  LORDS OF TERROR--"Cyrano and the Two Plumes"--Cyrano is in conflict with d'Artagnan from THREE MUSKETEERS.  The man who makes this meeting happen is Alcandre from LA BAGUE DE L'OUBLI.

Fall 1927 to 1928--FELIFAX, L'HOMME TIGRE--Sir Eric Palmer takes on a mad scientist's tiger-man hybrid.  Crossovers include:  FELIFAX, SIR ERIC PALMER, SHERLOCK HOLMES, THREE MUSKETEERS, CYRANO DE BERGERAC, LA TOUR DE NESLE.

TALES OF THE SHADOWMEN VOLUME 2: GENTLEMEN OF THE NIGHT “EX CALCE LIBERATUS” (SHORT STORY BY MATTHEW BAUGH)Release Date: 2006 (Setting is Spring 1931)Series: Tales of the ShadowmenHorror Crosses: The VampiresNon-Horror Crosses: Arsene Lupin; Akechi Kogoro; Fantomas; Fu Manchu; La Reine Margot; Three Musketeers; Le Bossu; The Sword Woman; Jirel of Joiry; The Grey Maiden; Scaramouche; Prince Valiant; Amber; Lupin III; Zatoichi; Yu’an He See Laughs; Doc ArdanThe Story: When famous swords go missing, famed thief Arsene Lupin is a suspect, so famed Japanese detective Kogoro Akechi must team with French police.
Notes: Les Vampires is the Paris set film serial whose characters appear frequently in Shadowmen tales. The rest of the crossovers are mostly series featuring sword wielding heroes. Sir Lancelot of Arthurian legend and historical figure Cyrano de Bergerac are also mentioned, but legends and historical figures do not count as crossovers.

1968--DOCTOR WHO--"The Mind Robbers"-- The Doctor travels to the Land of Fiction where he encounters fictionalized versions of Cyrano de Bergerac, and other fictional characters from GULLIVER'S TRAVELS, GREEK MYTHOLOGY, ARTHURIAN LEGEND, FAIRY TALES, THE THREE MUSKETEERS, and BLACKBEARD. (Note that those are all real in the TVCU, but double note that Cyrano, d'Artagnan, and Blackbeard were really real people in our real world as well.) I believe the place the Doctor visits is the same place referenced in Hellblazer later in this chronology.
Cyrano/The Magician Poster
October 1981--FANTASY ISLAND--"Cyrano"--Philadelphian Marjorie Denton seeks the most chivalrous romantic man of all time and meets Cyrano de Bergerac.  I'm unsure is Cyrano is a ghost, pulled from the past, or is his fictional counterpart from the Land of Fiction.  Perhaps Fantasy Island expert Gordon Long can let me know.

HELLBLAZER # 23 - 24 “LARGER THAN LIFE” (VERTIGO/DC COMICS)Release Date: October 1989 (Contemporary Setting)Series: HellblazerHorror Crosses: Lovecraft’s Cthulhu Mythos; Dracula (Bram Stoker); The Portrait of Dorian Gray; Invisible Man (novel) (See Notes)Non-Horror Crosses: Maltese Falcon; Moby Dick; Alice in Wonderland; Peter Pan; Sherlock Holmes; Treasure Island; Oliver Twist; Tarzan; Hamlet; Cyrano de Bergerac; Winnie the Pooh; Lord Dunsany’s Joseph Jorkens; Fu Manchu (See Notes)The Story: Jerry is a collector of unusual artifacts. Many of these are famed items of history and legend. He’s even gone so far as to start collecting items from other realms. But when he starts collecting items from the realm of fiction, the entities of that realm come after him, and he needs the aid of John Constantine.
Notes: Hellblazer is already in vias a cross with Doctor Who that also had a Lovecraft connection. Hellblazer and the other Vertigo series were only loosely connected to the DC Universe. For the most part, they maintained a separate reality, and instead of operating on “comic book time”, things moved in a normal time frame. Jerry has a copy of Jorkins' notes, the Unaussprechlichen Kulten, and the Necronomicon in his collection (all from Lovecraft’s Cthulhu Mythos). He also has a coffin implied to be that of Dracula and Dorian Gray’s portrait. Additionally, he has the Maltese Falcon and remnants of the ship that chased Moby Dick. From other realms, he has the Mad Hatter’s Hat (from Alice’s Wonderland) and the corpse of the Tic-Toc Croc (of Neverland, as in Peter Pan). Jerry’s shop is in the same town as the Admiral Benbow Inn, meaning they are in Black Hill Cove from Treasure Island. The collector also has other non-cross items from fairy tales and folklore. All the other crosses listed above come from the land of fiction. This is a pocket realty within the Horror Multiverse where imaginary characters exist. This may be the same realm as Imaginationland that is attached to the divergent timeline of South Park.
ALTERNATE REALITIES:
EARTH-X, THE NAZIVERSE--I place here the events of Kim Newman's "Une Etrange Aventure de Richard Blaine" from Unforgivable Stories. Note the Newman tends to place all his stories in the same multiverse, which my Horror Crossover Encyclopedia found to be the Horror Multiverse, which for our purposes here is also the Television Crossover Multiverse. In this story, Rick Blaine is stopped from leaving Paris altering the events of CASABLANCA. He is betrayed by a Nazi version of TINTIN. The Nazis want to capture Paris in order to gain the essences of THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA, THE THREE MUSKETEERS, ARSENE LUPIN, CYRANO DE BERGERAC, and THE COUNT OF MONTE CRISTO.
Note that I left out all the numerous times that the Cyrano scenario is reenacted. This is a popular trope when one person hides and tells the other what to say to the girl he loves. This scenario is played out over and over in the TVCU, so clearly Cyrano is both a real person and a play in the TVCU, just like in the real world.
I also chose not to include all the countless retellings of the story, but I will point out my favorite is the updated version of the story, Roxanne, with my favorite comedian, Steve Martin.

Scooby-Doo: The LIVE ACTION Universe

So Ivan and I are working on all the different timelines where Scooby is a central player.  There's like six or seven.

This one covers what we typically call the Television Crossover Universe, though I also call it the Horror Universe in the Horror Crossover Encyclopedia and the Live Action Universe in the Cartoon Crossover Encyclopedia.  It's the reality of the live action movies.  It's a very separate timeline from the others, although some things that happened in the cartoons also happened here.  One major difference you will notice is that because this centers around the live action films, the dates of some entries are not the original air dates, but rather dates that make sense if we assume the live action films were contemporary.

THE STRANGE CASE OF DR. JEKYLL AND MR. HYDE (NOVEL BY ROBERT LOUIS STEVENSON)Release Date: January 5, 1886 (Contemporary setting)Series: Dr. Jekyll and Mr. HydeThe Story: A scientist creates a formula that unlocks his dark side.
Notes: Unlike with Dracula and Frankenstein, I consider the Universal film version of this to be the same events, rather than having hundreds of Hyde variants out there.
Taz-Looney Tunes.svgA Tasmanian devil

1954--DEVIL MAY HARE--This is the first appearance of the Looney Tunes Tasmanian Devil in a Bugs Bunny cartoon.  In Scooby-Doo 2:  Monsters Unleashed, Scooby goes through many physical alterations using Hyde type formulas.  One of his transformations is into the Looney Tunes style Tasmanian Devil.  From Tas-Mania, we know all Tasmanian Devils in the Looney Tunes series look alike, so in the Live Action Universe, unlike the real universe, Tasmanian Devils look like Taz.  So no, Scooby didn't turn into THE Taz who has menaced Bugs, but the appearance of a Tasmanian Devil looking like Taz means to me that the original Bugs/Taz cartoons are actually in the Live Action Universe!  What?  A talking rabbit in the Live Action Universe?  That's as ridiculous as a talking dog.  Note I'm not bringing all of Looney Tunes in, though, but the original Bugs shorts could be in, perhaps.  The TVCU is a pretty silly reality.  Also note that Looney Tunes:  Back in Action CANNOT be in this reality despite what I may have said in other posts and in the Horror Crossover Encyclopedia.  In Back in Action, Scooby and Shaggy are animated, and animated in the same Toon theory way as in Roger Rabbit.  And also in Back in Action, the live action Scooby films are specifically referenced to be fictional movies.

1961--THE BEAST OF YUCCA FLATS--A "miles to Yucca Flats" sign appears where Scrappy-Doo gets thrown out of the Mystery Van.

1974--HONG KONG PHOOEY--Shaggy [to Scooby; after getting hit in the face]: Hong Kong Phooey, watch the fists of fury!

A Pup Named Scooby-Doo Poster

1992--A PUP NAMED SCOOBY-DOO--This is questionable.  A flashback in Scooby-Doo 2:  Monsters Unleashed shows a flashback to their pre-teen era from this series.  However, Scooby-Doo:  The Mystery Begins has them forming the team a few years after this in their mid teens.  Perhaps they had some adventures, then went their separate ways, then later reunited?

Scooby-Doo! The Mystery Begins Poster

1996--SCOOBY-DOO! THE MYSTERY BEGINS--A new origin for the group, which contradicts Pup, which was referenced in Scooby-Doo 2, but also is a prequel to the 2002 live action film, so...   The gang seem to be 15 with Shaggy a year older.  He's in the team because he is the only one who can drive and has a van.  It should be noted it is Shaggy's van, though when Fred gets his license, he ends up doing all the driving. A Huckleberry Hound bobblehead is on the dashboard of the van.  Probably this means other HB characters are not real in this reality.  They are fictional characters.

CAPTAIN PLANET AND THE PLANETEERS (ANIMATED SERIES)Release Date: September 15, 1990 - May 11, 1996Series: Captain PlanetThe Story: When drilling wakes the goddess Gaia, she realizes the planet, which is directly connected to her, is in danger, and sends five rings to five teenagers to become Earth’s protectors, the Planeteers. The rings individually each have a single power, over earth, wind, fire, water, and heart. But when those powers combine, they can summon the super-powered being Captain Planet. Notes: Just a few months ago, the Live Action Universe’s Gaia also nearly died, as seen in the Earth Day Special.
SEASON 4 EPISODE 22 “‘TEERS IN THE HOOD”Release Date: May 14, 1994 (See notes)Animated Series Crosses: Scooby-Doo!The Story: The Planeteers go undercover to stop a gang war.
Notes: At the school the kids are going “21 Jump Street” at, Velma and Shaggy from Mystery, Inc. are seen at the school in the background of one scene. I don't recall if this episode named the setting. Could it be Coolsville, or are Mystery Inc here on a case? Or are Shaggy and Velma there for some other reason? The air date of this episode would place this prior to where I'm placing Where are you, but I'm going to fudge it and say this takes place in May 1996, not 1994.
Scooby-Doo! Curse of the Lake Monster Poster
Summer 1996--SCOOBY-DOO! CURSE OF THE LAKE MONSTER--Sequel to the prequel.  This film takes place on their first summer break after forming Mystery Inc, but still before Where Are You.  This film supports my theory that the team does most of their travelling mysteries while on school vacations, which makes sense since they are teens but most of their cases take place all over the country and the world.  In the end of this film, the clown and tiki ghosts from the opening montage of Where Are You appear.  Since those didn't actually appear in Where Are You, except in the opening, it adds to the chronology that this takes place prior to Where Are You.  Fred and Daphne wear their "classic" outfits for the first time, by grabbing cloths off of mannequins.  Fred, a brunette in the prequels, even dons a blonde wig like his hair in the original cartoons.  This helps explain the 70s outfits they wear in the cartoons if those cartoons are moved to the 1990s and explains them wearing those clothes still in the opening of the live action film which takes place in 2000.  Clearly that moment gave them the idea to wear those "retro" outfits as part of their mystery team gimmick, and inspired Fred to change his hair as well.

1996--FROM DUSK TILL DAWN--The monsters explode in a similar way the Vampires explode using a disco ball and sunlight.

SCOOBY-DOO, WHERE ARE YOU! (ANIMATED SERIES)Release Date: September 13, 1969 - November 4, 1978 (Setting is probably around 1997)Series: Scooby-DooThe Story: A group of teenagers and their talking dog go around solving mysteries which always involves debunking a fake haunting.
Notes: Yes, Scooby is in. And the series should be in. It’s got the crossovers, and it’s about kids going around debunking the supernatural. It is a horror series for kids. But we’ve got two issues. So let’s talk about the talking dog in the room. Scooby is an intelligent talking dog, and yet, in all the travelling and meeting new people, nobody is freaked out by a talking dog. (Actually, Speed Buggy was freaked out to encounter a talking dog, despite him being a talking car.) In Mystery Incorporated (set in a divergent timeline), it’s revealed the Scooby is descended from aliens who had been worshipped as gods in Egypt and eventually interbred with Earth animals. The second issue is the one we have with comics. These kids don’t age. They are eternally high school seniors, at least through this initial first series. But that doesn’t work in a universe where most characters do age normally. Each Scooby-Doo series is looked at independently, and some are in and some aren’t. In some later series, the kids are older, but not as old as they should be considering their setting remains contemporary. (As in the 1970s stories where they are teens are set in the 1970s while their 2000s stories where they are in their mid 20s are set in the 2000s.) I will address the issue again for each series entry and how I choose to resolve the issue. But for this series, I think it best to place the events as taking place in the summer before their senior year, and then weekends and school breaks throughout their senior year. (After all, they do a lot of travelling for high school students.) And that’s the best I can do. If anyone comes up with something better, I applaud you and suggest you apply your solution to your shared universe. This series is followed by The New Scooby-Doo Movies in 1972. It was remade as a live action movie in 2002. The series has been referenced and spoofed numerous times in film and television. We know that this series is canon with the live action films because there are so many references to the original series and the second film mentions several villains from this series.
SEASON 2 EPISODE 1 “NOWHERE TO HYDE”Release Date: September 12, 1970 (See Notes for series)Horror Crosses: Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde (novel)The Story: The gang pursue the alleged ghost of Mr. Hyde, a jewel thief and search for clues to the culprit, and clues point to the great-grandson of Dr. Jekyll.Notes: This episode places the original Jekyll and Hyde as real, and thus Scooby and gang end up pulled into the Horror Universe.

THE NEW SCOOBY-DOO MOVIES (ANIMATED SERIES)Release Date: September 9, 1972 - October 27, 1973 (Probably set around 1998?)Series: The New Scooby-Doo MoviesThe Story: Mystery, Inc. continues to solve mysteries, but now they meet a lot of interesting people. Notes: See my Notes for Scooby-Doo, Where Are You? for how I feel about talking dogs in the Horror Universe. There are many Scooby-Doo series, and some have contrary canon. For that reason, each one is considered separately for crossover inclusion. Where Are You? and this series are referenced in Scooby-Doo (2002) as being part of the past of the film's canon. This series is a continuation of Scooby-Doo, Where Are You! It continues in 1976 as The Scooby-Doo/Dynomutt Hour. It was remade in 2002 as a live-action film. This series also spun off the animated Harlem Globetrotters series. The series has been referenced several times in other series and films. It has also been spoofed in Gremlins 2, NIght of the Living Doo, and Family Guy. This series had many guest stars. Some were fictional and others were contemporary celebrities. Since this has been moved forward to the 1990s, we can presume that the guest stars may have been instead either different more modern guest stars or older versions of the original celebrities or even perhaps the children of those celebrities. As for the fictional characters, I'm not going to count those crossovers in this timeline. A lot of those crossovers don't work when we shift the timeline. Note that in other cartoon timelines, the stories remain exactly as seen on TV and in their original contemporary timeline due to how comic book/cartoon time works. It's still a safe bet that this series is in canon at least in spirit with the film as the film opens up with Mystery Inc. solving a mystery for special guest Pamela Anderson, in the classic tradition of the New Scooby-Doo Movies. I will cover these omitted crossovers in the blog posts for the other series involved in the crossovers, to try to explain how they can still fit in the TVCU or if they must be placed elsewhere in the Television Crossover Multiverse.
1998 to ?--POWERPUFF GIRLS--The Powerpuff girls are referenced by Scrappy in Scooby-Doo as being real. They debuted in 1998 and in the series have remained kindergarteners, because cartoon time. So I'm going to say they debuted here but either aged normally in the Live Action Universe or else they maybe don't age since they were artificially created in a lab?

SCOOBY-DOO AND SCRAPPY-DOO (ANIMATED SERIES)Release Date: September 22, 1979 - January 5, 1980 (Probably set in 1999)Series: Scooby-Doo and Scrappy-DooThe Story: The Mystery, Inc. gang gets joined by Scooby’s very hyper nephew Scrappy-Doo.Notes: This series was a continuation of the previous two series mentioned (Scooby-Doo, Where are You? and the New Scooby-Doo Movies). All of the various incarnations of Scooby are brought in separately. In this case, Scooby-Doo and Scrappy-Doo is brought in by Scrappy's appearance in the live action film. In this series, Scrappy gets added to the cast to boost ratings, which were slipping. As if it wasn’t hard enough to explain Scooby, we now are faced with an unaging puppy who is more articulate than his uncle. The Scooby-Doo live action film does at least offer an explanation that Scrappy wasn’t a puppy, but merely suffered from a pituitary gland issue. And of course he can talk because talking dogs are normal. Actually, Scrappy is part of Scooby’s family, descended from aliens that posed as gods and interbred with Earth animals. This show is continued into the 1980 Richie Rich/Scooby-Doo Show. This series is spoofed in the 2002 live action Scooby-Doo film and has been referenced as fictional and in homage in numerous films and on television. For the Live Action Universe, this is probably the last of the Scooby cartoon series that counts. Notice we skipped the Scooby-Dum and Scooby-Dee era and the Laff-A-Lympics because they aren't referenced in the films. Later animated series have the gang splitting up, with only Scooby, Scrappy and Shaggy having adventures, then later Velma returning now a journalist. None if this seems to have happened in the canon of the films. When the film starts, the gang is still together and then split up for the first time. And Daphne is not a journalist. Also, the film shows in flashback Scrappy being ditched by Mystery Inc when they are still together, but in the Saturday morning cartoons, they split up and Scrappy remained with Scooby and Shaggy. Please be aware that a lot of what I'm counting and not counting contradicts previous TVCU posts and the Horror Crossover Encyclopedia. That stuff is out. This is in now. That's why we have the seven timelines now. It makes more sense.
SPIDER-MAN: THE GATHERING OF THE SINISTER SIX (NOVEL)Release Date: March 1, 1999 (Contemporary Setting)Series: Spider-ManHorror Crosses: Scooby-Doo! (Live Action film series)Non-Horror Crosses: Invaders; Captain America; Human Torch (golden age); Sub-Mariner; Casablanca; Hulk; Jackie Chan Adventures; Terry and the Pirates; Silence of the Lambs/Hannibal; Fargo; Trading Places/Coming to America; The Great Race; North by Northwest; Indiana Jones; Marathon Man; Smilin’ Jack; Iron Man; Sherlock Holmes; Die Hard; Fu Manchu; James Bond; Superman (modern age); Law & Order; Ellery Queen; Batman (Burton/Schumacher film series): Usual Suspects; Carmen Sandiego; Unbreakable; Maltese Falcon; NYPD BlueThe Story: A new Sinister Six is formed.Notes: Because of the appearance of the Mystery, Inc team, and not as 40-somethings, this must be the team from the live action films that started with Scooby-Doo (2002). This film series continues with only three of the original cartoon series as canon. In Scooby-Doo (2002), the gang are all young adults. So the “kids” here are now in the early 20s, in a time period that is contemporary with release dates based on pop culture and technology.
May 1999--The gang graduate from high school.

Summer 1999--This is probably when the team ditched Scrappy.
[image error][image error]Image result for Luna Ghost Mystery Incorporated
2000--This is the opening of the 2002 Scooby-Doo film. The gang help Pamela Anderson solve a mystery but a fight ensues after that leads to the team breaking up. Note they take down the Luna Ghost, who has never appeared in the cartoons, but returns in Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated. Mystery Incorporated however is a divergent timeline where the kids are still in high school and had some adventures similar to the original cartoons, but live in Crystal Cove, not Coolsville.

BONEYARD # 1 - 28 (NBM)Release Date: 2001 - 2009 (Contemporary Setting)Series: BoneyardHorror Crosses: Frankenstein (Boneyard); Creature from the Black Lagoon; The Raven; The Screwtape Letters; Buffy the Vampire Slayer; Dracula (novel); Evil Dead; Frankenstein (novel); The Wolf Man; Zatanna; Lovecraft’s Cthulhu Mythos; Friday the 13th; Hellboy (comics); King Ghidorah; Mothra; Scooby-Doo, Where Are You!Non-Horror Crosses: The TempestThe Story: Michael Paris inherits a graveyard inhabited by friendly monsters. Hilarity and adventure ensue.Notes: One of the inhabitants is Brutus, who is a creature of the Frankenstein model. Brutus’ wife is a Gill-Woman named Nessie. Edgar is a raven who claims to have been the inspiration for Edgar Allan Poe’s story. The Boneyard has its own elected official, Mayor Wormwood. Mayor Wormwood is supposed to be Satan, but this Satan is kind of an idiot. I’ve stated elsewhere on this website that not all appearances of the devil are the same guy. The name carries weight, and so it seems that many lesser demons may pose as the top dog. In the Screwtape Letters by C.S. Lewis, Wormwood is a poor excuse for a demon who is eaten by his uncle. But of course, what happens when a demon dies? They return to Hell. So this may be the same Wormwood. The vampire named Abby seems to be of the vampiric variety seen on Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Remember that in the Horror Universe, there are several strains of the “vampire virus”, which create varying types of vampires with different traits, strengths and weaknesses. Abby refers to Michael as her “Renfield”. That could be a pop culture reference, but considering the number of other horror crosses, and that Dracula is real in the Horror Universe, I’m inclined to count it. There are “Xandorian” demons which I believe to be an intentional misspelling of Kandorian demons from the Evil Dead series. Somebody refers to the original Dr. Frankenstein. That same person makes a reference to that guy with the stick which may be Larry Talbot, whose cane is famous. At a bar is Zatanna Zatara and a Gill-Man. An Old One appears, who is friendly! His name is Haz’aroth, which may be an intentional misspelling of Azathoth, but I’m not sure Azathoth would be so nice. Perhaps he’s a nicer guy around other monsters. Abby is hired by the government to stop a slasher at a summer camp called Camp Waterlake. Though the slasher turns out to really be Lilith, she has taken the form of Jason Voorhees. This isn’t the first time Camp Crystal Lake has changed its name. In the film series, it did so to try to avoid the bad reputation it has gained. When Abby has to attend a banquet for supernatural beings, she takes Michael as her date. The waiter is Ariel from Shakespeare’s the Tempest. Hellboy is in attendance. So are King Ghidorah and Mothra. The Space Kook is also there. Though the Space Kook was just a man in a mask in Scooby Doo, Where Are You!, most of those villains took on the identities of figures from legends and folklore. So this must be the real Space Kook that inspired the man in the mask who was exposed by Mystery, Inc.

2002--SCOOBY-DOO--Two years later, all of the team members are reunited to solve a mystery on a horror themed island.
What's New, Scooby-Doo? Poster
2002 to 2004--WHAT'S NEW, SCOOBY-DOO!--This new updated version of the team aired following the live action film. In this series, they are now wearing modern clothing, rather than their 70s outfits. Though the first live action film has them in classic garb, in the second film they also wear modern garb. In the prequel, Scooby-Doo! The Mystery Begins, the ending credits are accompanied by the theme to What's New, Scooby-Doo.
Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed Poster
2004--SCOOBY-DOO 2: MONSTERS UNLEASHED--Now back in operation as Mystery, Inc., the team must solve a mystery in their home town, as a museum is opening in their honor. Many classic monsters from the original series return in this film.
[image error][image error]
2005--SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE--In the second live action film, the janitor is making an audition tape for this show. I know it's a reality show, but it's interesting that the reality show didn't air until a year after the second film, which means that the janitor was auditioning for the premier season. Clearly he didn't make the cut.

SLITHER (FILM)Release Date: March 31, 2006 (Contemporary Setting; see notes for chronological order)Horror Crosses: Scooby-Doo; Tremors; The Blob (1988 remake); Night of the Creeps; The Thing (remake)The Story: An alien invasion commences via a hive minded race of worms that possess the planet’s natives.Notes: Sorry, kids, but a great dane gets eaten by the main alien/human hybrid. And that great dane happens to have the collar and dog tag of a certain dog belonging to a certain hipster who used to solve mysteries with a group of kids travelling around in a a van. Note that in the film Karroll’s Christmas, Scooby is said to be a ghost. Though that film was out 15 months before this one, they must occur in reverse order. No appearances of Scooby after this point are canon. The school in the film is named after Earl Bassett from Tremors. Woodsville has a Meg Penny’s Diner. Meg Penny was a character in the 1988 remake of the Blob. Since the original version is also in, we must assume that similar incidents happened more than once. Likewise would be the case for the cross involving The Thing. One of the town shops is owned by R.J. MacReady, which should be the character from the 1980s version of the Thing. The original version (Who Goes There?) is also in, with McReady of that story actually being Doc Savage according to Philip Jose Farmer. Since the story took place in such a remote location, it’s possible that a similar incident happened more than once. The alien slugs of this film resemble those from Night of the Creeps. Note taht Slither later has a crossover in Guardians of the Galaxy, but I'm not saying that Scooby-Doo is in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The MCU is a divergent TVCU timeline. James Gunn directed the live action Scooby-Doo and Slither, and the dog collar and tag used in this film was from the live action Scooby films. So....

KARROLL’S CHRISTMAS (FILM)Release Date: December 14, 2004 (Contemporary Setting)Horror Crosses: Legend of Sleepy Hollow; Scooby-Doo; Casper; A Nightmare on Elm StreetNon-Horror Crosses: A Christmas CarolThe Story: Ever since he was humiliated in public by his girlfriend on Christmas, Allen Karroll has come to hate Christmas. He also hates his mean neighbor Zed Rosecog. On Christmas Eve, Allen gets visited first by Jacob Marley, then by the ghosts of Christmas Present, Past and Future. The problem is they went to the wrong address. They were to visit Mr. Rosecog, and thus show Allen Mr. Rosecog’s present, past and future Christmases. Despite this, Allen still learns a lesson about the Christmas spirit and how his own life has been intertwined with his neighbor’s. Notes: The film indicates that the original Dickens novel happened, and visits by three ghosts is a regular thing, but that the job is not always done by the same three ghosts. The Jacob Marley is not the same from A Christmas Carol. This one was related to Bob Marley. One of the ghosts references other ghosts he knows, including the Headless Horseman, Scooby-Doo, and Casper. The Legend of Sleepy Hollow is already in. Is Scooby dead? Yes, kids. In the Horror Universe, Scooby is dead. In fact, he was eaten in the film Slither. This crossover brings in Casper, the Friendly Ghost, but which version? Though I’m sure the implication is the cartoon version, there’s no solid in-story evidence to verify that. Therefore, my assumption is to consider this a reference to the version from the live action films. The first Casper film had a crossover with Ghostbusters, and thus is already solidly in the Horror Universe. A ghost also makes a reference in which he compares himself to Freddy Krueger. Though that could be a pop culture reference or a reference to a real person, in this instance, since this film has already been demonstrated to fit in the Horror Universe, we should just assume that this is indeed a reference to the Springwood Slasher.

Hamlet

'Alas, poor Yorick! I knew him, Horatio'
I covered William Shakespeare's Macbeth a little while ago, so on to Hamlet.

Hamlet Poster

16th Century--HAMLET--The Mel Gibson version, yes, is the official version in the TVCU because Mel Gibson played the same role again on Sesame Street.

16th Century--HAMLET 2--Hamlet and Jesus have time travel adventures.  (Okay, this was a fake play within a comedy film, but I just had to include it.)

1897--THE PURSUIT OF THE HOUSE-BOAT--This story features many characters in the afterlife including SHERLOCK HOLMES, HAMLET, SHYLOCK, LECOQ, HANKSHAW, MAN FRIDAY, PORTIA, JIM HAWKINS, OPHELIA, TRILBY, THE COUNT OF MONTE CRISTO, THE OLD SLEUTH, THE THREE MUSKETEERS and numerous other biblical and historical characters.

1947--A STREETCAR NAMED DESIRE--Disturbed Blanche DuBois moves in with her sister in New Orleans and is tormented by her brutish brother-in-law while her reality crumbles around her.  IMDB, ever conflating minor characters, seems to think that the sailor from A Streetcar Named Desire is the same sailor (played over the decades by different actors) from

Escape from Hell
1990--ESCAPE FROM HELL--The story involves Richard and Alan, two real life employees at EA, getting sucked into Hell with Richard's girlfriend, Alison. Richard has to save the two while fighting off the forces of Hell and eventually get back to Earth. Aiding him along the way are a variety of allies, ranging from evil historical figures such as Stalin and Ghengis Khan, to powerful rogue demons, to fictional characters such as Hamlet. The story never takes itself seriously at all, retaining a sense of humor the whole way through.

AMERICAN DAD! (ANIMATED SERIES)SEASON 5 EPISODE 9 “RAPTURE’S DELIGHT”Release Date: December 13, 2009Other Crosses: Monty Python and the Holy Grail; Mad Max/The Road Warrior; Star Wars; HamletThe Story: The rapture comes. Stan and Francine are left behind as they were having sex in church when it occurred. Time passes in a post-apocalyptic future where Stan and Francine help Jesus battle Satan.
Notes: Jesus is wearing two holy hand grenades. Characters at the bar are from the Road Warrior. Another character comes from Empire Strike Back. Jesus mentions his father’s dead jester, a reference to Yorick from Hamlet. It should be noted that since American Dad is so intertwined with Family Guy, both created by Seth MacFarlane and sharing the same writers and animators, this Jesus is probably the same version as in Family Guy. Though there are many depictions of Jesus appearing in series within the Cartoon Universe (most notably on South Park, for instance), MacFarlane’s version stands apart as a separate being, for in one episode of Family Guy, he admits he’s not real. This means that he is in fact a tulpa. This doesn’t mean that there isn’t a real Jesus. It just means that the MacFarlane depiction of Jesus is not him. He is a manifestation created by the psychic energy and imaginations of those who exist in the Cartoon Universe, particularly in the regions of Quahog, Langley Falls, and Stoolbend. Incidentally, although the Jesus from South Park seems to be real, as he lives in the town and has his own talk show, he has also been depicted as a resident of Imaginationland, a domain where characters who are fictional within the Cartoon Universe exist. It’s never made clear if the Jesus who lives in South Park and the Jesus from Imaginationland are the same beings or two separate entities. Since we are talking about the intertwining of the MacFarlane shows, another interesting note is the depiction of the musical duo Hall & Oates in this episode. John Oates had been ruptured, leaving Daryl Hall behind. This conflicts an episode of the Cleveland Show where Oats is depicted as a devil while Hall is an angel. Finally, this episode ends with Stan being killed, and going to his personal heaven. His personal heaven is the world before the Rapture. Thus, every episode of American Dad, and any series connected to American Dad, after this point is in fact existing in Stan’s personal heaven, not the real Cartoon Universe, as the rapture did occur in the Cartoon Universe. However, to keep my brain from exploding, I’m going to consider this episode to be a divergent timeline, and believe that in the main Cartoon Universe, the rapture has not come yet. Thus, Stan’s reward was simply to have the original timeline restored. But, since we’ve also brought Supernatural into the Cartoon Universe, it should be noted that in that series, around this time, Sam Winchester did indeed begin the apocalypse, though most people hadn’t realized it had begun. In a future five years later, Dean saw a world overrun by Zombies, and a battle against Satan, but the Winchesters managed to avert this timeline from existing. It’s possible that the main body of this episode is in the same divergent timeline that Dean Winchester visited, and that Stan was able to return to the main timeline because Dean and Sam stopped the apocalypse. And that’s a lot of deep thoughts for a show that makes money off of fart jokes.

Late July 1985--KINGDOM HEARTS/KILALA PRINCESS--LOONIVERSE--Snow White, Cinderella, Aurora, Ariel, Belle, Jasmine, Pocahontas and Mulan participate in the Crisis!!! James Bojaciuk comments: Yup. We have shadow demons and red skies. Kingdom Hearts is a pain. Sora, Donald, and Goofy visit just about every universe in the TVCM. The Looniverse is visited most, but they make sure to visit Tarzan (TVCU), Wonderland, Halloweentown (which, per Gordon's Rankin-Bass book, is not part of the Looniverse), the Final Fantasy world, NeverLand, 100 Acre Woods, Port Royal (TVCU--during a series of events that take place shortly after the first Pirates of the Caribbean film), TRON (the world of a video game inside the TVCU, though is can be accessed from other universes), and The Hunchback of Notre Dame (TVCU, again). And this makes the book crazier because all of these entries fall at random points on both the objective and subjective timeline. The [Crisis] book will only follow the subjective timeline that follows events in the order Yog Sothoth experienced them--it's the only way that the nonlinear events even begin to correctly fall on a linear timeline. It's worth noting that the Tarzan they met might be the Looniverse Tarzan. That one could go either way, though I generally ignore the weirder portions of that and just assume it's a hugely fictionalized meeting with the real Tarzan.

1986--BACK TO THE FUTURE: THE GAME--Marty reads one of the floppy disks lying on George McFly's workbench in his garage as "Game Grid". The Game Grid was where the programs did battle in Tron.

1986
An isoplasmic being Environment SuitGHOSTS IN THE MACHINES - Ivan is involved in an Enigma Quorum experiment in manipulating multi-dimensional energies. Using Tillinghast resonations they manage to add mass to ethereal entities, and then use quantum lasers to 'digitize' these entities for storage in an electronic matrix, which is compared to laser integration technology used by ENCOM, the ghost dematerializer used by the Ghost Busters, and the Ecto-Containment Unit used by the Ghostbusters. Though proven successful, many Theurgy members are accidentally trapped by the system in a computer mainframe currently encoded with several videogames, encountering programmed automatons possessed by Earthly spirits, now called Isomplasmic Lifeforms. All are restored to the real world except Frank Lafayette, the system designer, who voluntarily remains inside the system to maintain and correct anomalies.
Portable Tillinghast GeneratorTillinghast resonations are from H. P. Lovecraft's FROM BEYOND  (1934) and the 1986 film of the same name. ENCOM is the company responsible for TRON in the 1982 movie as well as a handful of video games and a 2010 sequel TRON: Legacy. The ghost dematerializer appeared in the 1975 television series THE GHOST BUSTERS (1975) as well as the 1986 animated spin-off series GHOST BUSTERS. The Ecto-Containment Unit and related technology appeared first in the 1984 filmGHOSTBUSTERS as well as the 1989 sequel, two animated series (The Real Ghostbusters / Slimer! and the Real Ghostbusters, 1986-1991, and  Extreme Ghostbusters, 1997), several video games, and many printed tie-ins (mostly comic books and pen-and-paper Role-Playing Games).

WNUF HALLOWEEN SPECIAL (FILM)Release Date: October 18, 2013 (Setting is October 31, 1987)Series: WNUF Halloween SpecialHorror Crosses: GhostbustersNon-Horror Crosses: TronThe Story: The premise is that this is an uncovered video tape of a special Halloween event (from the days when we used to tape stuff on TV) where a local news anchor and paranormal investigators are live in an allegedly haunted house. Notes: At the arcade can be seen the game Space Paranoids, which is from Tron. Also, the Ghostbusters are mentioned, which is likely a pop culture reference, but I’m counting it as a real link so that I could connect this film to the Horror Universe.

1996--BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER--"I Robot, You Jane"--A theory from Salvatore Cucinotta of the TVCU Crew: Last night, I was introducing a friend to the fun that is "Buffy the Vampire Slayer". Season 1 has some clunkers, but its gems more than make up for it.  But I was reminded of an incident which solidifies a hypothesis of mine.  In the episode "I Robot, You Jane", a demon that was trapped in a book is scanned into a computer and released into the Internet. It, being a manipulative cult-leading demon, gathered minions and had them build a robotic shell for it to interact with the real world with. Otherwise, it as a purely digital entity.  Later, when they cast a binding spell to trap it again, it winds up trapped inside the robotic shell.  This lines up perfectly with the "Data Life Form" hypothesis I cooked up to explain characters like Boilerplate and other advanced robots appearing before there was even a byte of digitized information. Because human-like intelligence needs terabytes to run and the brain itself has a storage capacity of about 2.5 Petabytes (10 to the 15th power).  Heck, it could work as an entity that was transformed into a Data Life Form, like in Tron.

August 2001--FAMILY GUY--SEASON 3 EPISODE 4 “ONE IF BY CLAM, TWO IF BY SEA”

Release Date:  August 1, 2001
Cutaway Crosses:  Tron
The Story:  The Drunken Clam is bought out by a British man who transforms the local bar into a British pub, to the displeasure of the guys.  Meanwhile, Stewie bets Brian that he can transform the British man’s daughter into a classy young lady, ala My Fair Lady.
Notes:  According to this episode, Peter, Cleveland and Quagmire have been hanging out at the Clam (and Peter has been working at the toy factory) since the 1970s, despite the fact that other episodes make it clear that Peter met his friends in the 1980s, when he was a pool boy at Lois’ country club.  We can either ignore this continuity error, or accept that it’s a usual matter of cartoon time not really making sense.  Cutaway Crosses:  In a cutaway, Peter claims that he was a character in Tron.

KINGDOM HEARTS (VIDEO GAME)Release Date: March 28, 2002 (Setting is contemporary and in various other settings relative to the worlds; see notes)Series: Kingdom HeartsAnimated Series Crosses: Tarzan (Disney); Peter Pan; Alice in Wonderland; Hercules (Disney); Little Mermaid; Pinocchio; Nightmare Before Christmas; Aladdin; Donald Duck; Goofy; Dumbo; Mickey Mouse; One Hundred and One Dalmatians; Lion King; Sleeping Beauty; Winnie the Pooh; Pluto; Chip and Dale; The Sword in the Stone; Cinderella; Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs; Night on Bald Mountain (Fantasia); Bambi; Mulan; Final Fantasy; Beauty and the Beast; Pocahontas (Disney); Hunchback of Notre DameOther Crosses: Pirates of the Caribbean; TronThe Story: In the reality called Destiny Islands, shadow creatures called the Heartless kidnap Sora’s friends and destroy his reality. Sora obtains the Keyblade, the one weapons that can destroy the Heartless. Sora survives his world’s destruction and ends up in another reality called Traverse Town. Meanwhile, in the alternate reality of Disney Town, King Mickey has left to investigate the cause of the Heartless, and tasks Donald and Goofy to use Gummi Ships, the only means known to travel between worlds, to seek out the holder of the key. They locate Sora and the three then begin a quest to locate Mickey and Sora’s friends, stop the Heartless, and save the multiverse. Notes: The Cartoon Crossover Encyclopedia operates with Who Framed Roger Rabbit as its foundation. I refer to the Cartoon Universe as existing under the Toontown concept, where most cartoons coexist within the same shared reality. And indeed, series like Roger Rabbit, House of Mouse, and Drawn Together have demonstrated that all of the Disney properties interact regularly in Toontown of the same shared reality which we call the Cartoon Universe. Kingdom Hearts, which is also officially licensed by Disney, claims that all the various Disney properties exist in separate realities within the same multiverse, and that travel between worlds is rare and nearly impossible. Bear with me as I try to use in-story references to create a theory to reconcile the situation. In Kingdom Hearts, the multiverse is being destroyed, one reality at a time, by a great evil who gains more power as the light is replaced by the darkness. Shadow beings are used as agents. In the end, the destroyed worlds are restored to existence. We know from most entries within this reference guide that the Cartoon Universe has enough evidence to support its existence. The Cartoon Universe is more of a “merged reality”, in which all of the separate worlds are mixed together to coexist in one single reality. There is a similar situation in fiction in which we can draw a parallel. In DC Comics, prior to 1985, their properties existed on several different alternate realities. In 1985, they published an event called Crisis on Infinite Earths, in which a very powerful being, utilizing shadow beings, was destroying the worlds, one at a time, gaining more power as anti-matter replaced the positive matter. Darkness was replacing light. In the end, when the villain was defeated, a new universe was created, a merged reality that combined elements of the previous realities. Later, though, it was revealed that even though a new merged reality existed, the previous realities still existed in a series of divergent timelines called Hypertime. Thus, the merged reality existed and the other separate realities still existed, but now it was said that travel between these worlds was rare and nearly impossible. To solidify this theory, recall that Scooby-Doo was brought into the Cartoon Universe by Roger Rabbit, and Scooby’s team-ups with Batman from the New Adventures of Batman are Cartoon Universe canon. In Batman: the Brave and the Bold, a multiverse also exists in which it's claimed that every version of Batman exists. The Scooby/Batman team-ups were specifically shown as one such alternate reality within that multiverse and several comic book versions of Batman were also shown to exist. Additionally, in DC’s Hypertime, several cartoon versions of Batman that are also shown to be part of the Brave and the Bold multiverse exist, and it’s said that in Hypertime, every version of DC Comics characters that ever existed or will exist has a place in Hypertime. So effectively, DC’s Hypertime and the multiverse from the Brave and the Bold seem to be what we are referring to as the Cartoon Multiverse. DC of course considered the DC Universe to be the central timeline, but of course they would say that. But consider for our purposes if the Cartoon Universe was the central timeline. So in this hypothetical situation, a previous multiverse may have existed, but after the Crisis, the Cartoon Universe, as laid out in this reference guide was the result, but the previous worlds that existed before, still existed in Hypertime. Kingdom Hearts is the Hypertime of the Cartoon Multiverse.

2010--TRON: LEGACY--The saga continues.

2010--TRON: THE NEXT DAY--About the "Flynn Lives" movement.

2011--SAINTS ROW:  THE THIRD--Being beamed into a virtual reality world.

Space paranoids poster
November 2011 to Present--ONCE UPON A TIME--As stated earlier, the series has lots of LOST connections.  The series also has McCrutcheon Beer and Apollo Candy bars as seen on Scrubs.  Henry plays Space Paranoids, the game from Tron.  Thor's hammer (the MCU version) shows up in Rumpy's castle.  There may be others.  Forgive me, but I had a much larger and detailed section for the period of 2011 to present, but it got accidentally deleted and control Z couldn't retrieve it for some reason.  As I've worked on this blog for several long hours each day, I've given up in frustration and will perhaps come back to expand and reresearch this section at a later date.

2012 to 2013--TRON:  UPRISING--And the saga still continues...

June, 2012—“Fight Fighters”--In the Gravity Falls arcade, there is a bootleg Tron cabinet. “Cleverly,” the bootleggers have named it Nort.  Tron, of course, is an arcade cabinet in Tron (1982) and Tron Legacy (2010).

2012--WRECK-IT RALPH--An access to the arcade game Tron can be seen in Wreck-It Ralph.
2012-- Ivan and the BrundleFlyNOV - The Arkham Ghostbusters are called to investigate what went wrong at a demonstration of practical teleportation at Miskatonic University's off-campus Tillinghast Building, and 'what went wrong' is revealed to be cross-phylum genetic hybridization, when a student broke in and incorrectly used the system on himself, becoming a monster (known as a 'BrundleFly') in the process. The teleportation system uses a combination of designs invented by Nikola Tesla, Andre Delambre, Walter Gibbs, Frank Lafayette, and Seth Brundle.Miskatonic University first appeared in Lovecraft's 1922 serial "Herbert West–Reanimator", while the Tillinghast Building is from David Wellington's 2007 story "CYCLOPEAN" from the anthology UNDEAD: SKIN AND BONES. Nikola Tesla as a real world inventor (1856-1943) who has appeared in many works of fiction; here he is credited for developing the replicating device from the 2006 film The Prestige. Dr. Andre Delambre was the scientist / monster in the original 1958 movie The Fly. Walter Gibbs was the inventor of a laser-based teleportation system in the 1982 film TRON. Frank Lafayette is an inventor character from Kevin Heim's stories. Seth Brundle, who was also the first BrundleFly, is from the 1986 The Fly remake.

2013--SAINTS ROW IV--The mission Miller Space takes place in a virtual world based on Tron. There is also a tower which is called the I/O Tower.
December 2013--ONCE UPON A TIME--Ivan reports:  Last night's Once Upon A Time included a reference to Space Paranoids as a videogame Henry plays too much. Pretty sure that's not the first such reference, but it does confirm that Storybrooke is in the same reality as ENCOM (TRON).

THE NEAR FUTURE--WRECK-IT RALPH SEQUEL--Ralph is to enter the Tron computer reality in the upcoming sequel.

ALTERNATE REALITIES:In the beginning, there was but one universe in the TVCU, and almost out of necessity, a mirror universe was created.  In between was an empty void.  But then there was a rift between the Time Lords.  Some followed the ways of Bill, some of Ted.  Half of the Time Lords decided the universe wasn't right, so they made their own copy.  One of the changes they made to their reality was to banish magic.  (Perhaps this was to reduce the threat of the Old Ones.)  The magic from this second world (which we now call the Whoniverse) was sent into the void.  There, the magic began forming pocket realities, filled with magic, and resembling Earth, but in bizarre and warped ways.

Some of these realities formed the cartoon realities.  But others were the fairy tale realms, as seen in Once Upon a Time.  Thus, the fairy tale characters from Once Upon a Time are doppelgangers of the TVCU counterparts. This doesn't mean that they aren't real.  They are very real.  But at the same time, they are real duplicates, having the same stories, but in different fashion.

Based on what we've seen of the show (and its spin-off, Once Upon a Time in Wonderland), here are the various realities that seem to be connected by Once Upon a Time, and how they translate into the TVCU concept.

CARTOON UNIVERSE--The Light Cycles from Tron make an appearance in the House of Mouse episode "Max's New Car"; Epic Mickey also features references to the movie.

DISNEY INFINITY--Tron vehicles appear in Disney Infinity. characters from Tron are characters in the PC edition of Disney Infinity 2.0 and Disney Infinity 3.0.

Earth-Prime Time--Click here for information on the Toobworld E-Mortals of TVCU-21.

IMAGINATIONLAND--Characters from TRON also exist in this world visited by the kids from SOUTH PARK.

INTERNET PARODIES--I had embedded two videos here.  If you can't see them, it's a Google issue.  So watch them here (Tron Holiday Special) and here (Tron Lebowski).

MAD--This universe also has its own version of Tron.
ROBOT CHICKEN UNIVERSE--A version of Tron has appeared in two sketches on this show.
TRON--One of the recurring crossovers in OUAT is that Henry plays the fictional game that was featured in the film Tron.  Since the game is real in Henry's world, that means the film Tron exists in the Land without Magic, and the world within the game is one of the realms of fiction.  From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia:   Once Upon a Time  is an American fairy tale drama series that premiered on Sunday, October 23, 2011, on ABC. The show takes place in the fictional seaside town of Storybrooke, Maine, the residents of which are actually characters from various fairy tales that were transported to the "real world" town and robbed of their real memories by a powerful curse. Episodes typically feature a primary storyline in Storybrooke, as well as a secondary storyline usually from another point in a character's life before the curse was enacted. The show airs Sunday nights at 8:00 pm ET/7:00 pm CT.[3]  Once Upon a Time was created by  Lost  and  Tron: Legacy  writers Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz.[4] Its first season received "generally favorable" reviews from critics. Metacritic gave it a score of 66 out of 100 based on 26 reviews. The pilot episode was watched by 12.93 million viewers and achieved an adult 18–49 rating/share of 4.0/10. A second season premiered on September 30, 2012 to an audience of 11.36 million. The third season began on September 29, 2013, opening to 8.52 million viewers.

TVCU-6-Tron/VIDEO GAME UNIVERSE?--OK, I'm not sure about video game crossovers.  This is about Sonic.  I know he isn't from the TVCU, because he travels to the TVCU in SONIC X.  But what is his home dimension.  I know Sonic and Mario are in the same universe, though Mario comes from the TVCU originally.  I'm not sure yet (though I will investigate at another time) if these games are connected to other ones or to any other fictional characters that might place them in, say, the Looniverse or something.  For now, I'm going to say Sonic is from the Video Game Universe.  Oh, what's this got to do with this blog?  Well, in SONIC THE COMIC # 106 to 107, Dr. Robotnik creates a computer program that goes rogue and creates that universe's version of the Village.

I think that is all right now.  There have been several ways to travel between worlds thus far.  Of course most of the characters came to Storybrooke via a curse.  Emma and Pinocchio came via the wardrobe.  Baelfire came via a magic spell that created a portal.  Snow and Emma later went to the Enchanted Forest via the Mad Hatter's hat, which has doors to all the wolds.  (It's bigger on the inside!)  Magic beans have also been used to travel between worlds.  Mirrors works as portals to Wonderland.  The White Rabbit also has the power to create holes between worlds.  You can reach Neverland in your dreams, or if you can fly, by heading to the second star to the right, and straight on 'till morning.  And mermaids can swim between realms with ease.  Of course, there are other speculative ways, based on some of the realms only loosely associated.  For instance, characters from Star Wars have come to Earth via wormholes. There's of course the connection between Oz and tornadoes.  There's Asgard and rainbow bridges.  And of course, getting zapped into video games like in Tron.

SCOOBY-DOO! MYSTERY INCORPORATED

Originally, I had included the Mystery Incorporated crossovers on my main Scooby-Doo post, which you can find here.

In the premiere episode of our new podcast, Random Fandom, we discussed that I should make the Mystery Incorporated series it's own post.  And so, here it is.

RF Episode 1: Scooby-Doo Team-Up

SCOOBY-DOO! MYSTERY INCORPORATED (ANIMATED SERIES)Release Date: April 5, 2010 - April 5, 2013 (Contemporary Setting -- see Notes)Series: Scooby-Doo! Mystery IncorporatedAnimated Series Crosses: Scooby-Doo!The Story: A group of teens (and a talking dog) find themselves consistently investigating the mysteries of their small town.Notes: This show never really mentions dates, but the show features the use of modern 21st century technology contemporary with the dates the show aired, but also features many elements and characters from the 1970s, which is the era of the original shows Scooby Doo, Where are You? and the New Scooby-Doo Movies. This series contradicts the original shows too much to be part of the same timeline, but if we could prove this to be a divergent timeline to the main Horror Universe timeline, then, as with Anno Dracula, any crossover links in the divergent timeline would still bring that series into the main Horror Universe. And as it turns out, the final episode wraps up with the Mystery Incorporated timeline being altered and becoming the timeline of Scooby-Doo, Where are You!, which is the main Horror Universe timeline. So there you go. This series was spoofed in the Ben 10: Omniverse episode titled “Mystery, Incorporeal”.[image error]SEASON 1 EPISODE 1 “BEWARE THE BEAST FROM BELOW”Release Date: April 5, 2010 (Contemporary Setting -- See series notes above)Horror Crosses: Scooby-Doo, Where are You!; New Scooby-Doo MoviesThe Story: The gang investigate a slime creature despite the protests of parents and authorities.Notes: The Black Knight, Miner 49er, Captain Cutler, Space Kook, Creeper and Charlie the Robot are all seen as statues in a haunted museum. They were all bad guys from Scooby-Doo, Where are You! Don Knotts also appears, who had been a guest multiple times on the New Scooby-Doo Movies. He appears multiple times in this series as well. Image result for SCOOBY-DOO! MYSTERY INCORPORATED (ANIMATED SERIES) Buford and the Galloping GhostSEASON 1 EPISODE 2 “THE CREEPING CREATURES”Release Date: July 19, 2010 (Contemporary Setting -- See series notes above)Horror Crosses: Scooby-Doo, Where are You!Animated Series Crosses: Buford and the Galloping GhostNon-Horror Crosses: VacationThe Story: The gang is sent to Gatorsburg by its mysterious benefactor, Mr. E, to solve a mystery.Notes: Fred mentions past cases where he trapped Carlotta the Gypsy and the Phantom of the Vazquez Castle. Those cases happened on Scooby-Doo, Where are You! In a Gatorsburg flashback, one of the panners seen is a character from Buford and the Galloping Ghost, bringing that series into the Horror Universe under the rules for divergent timeline links. Clark Griswald and family are also seen in the family Truckster, providing a link to the Vacation films.[image error]SEASON 1 EPISODE 4 “REVENGE OF THE MAN CRAB”Release Date: August 2, 2010 (Contemporary Setting -- See series notes above)Animated Series Crosses: FlintstonesNon-Horror Crosses: Beverly Hills, 90210; The Pebbles and Bamm-Bamm ShowThe Story: Crystal Cove gets crabs. Actually, it’s just one very, very large crab.Notes: Dylan McKay and Brendan Walsh are victims of the Man Crab Beast, which places Beverly Hills, 90210 in the main Horror Universe timeline. Pebbles Flintstone and Bamm-Bamm Rubble appear to be students at Crystal Cove High School. I have a lot to say about that, but none if it is really relevant to horror crossovers, so go to the Television Crossover Universe website and find out what I think about it there or wait for my next book, the Cartoon Crossover Encyclopedia, coming in a few years. [image error]SEASON 1 EPISODE 6 “THE LEGEND OF ALICE MAY” Release Date: August 16, 2010 (Contemporary Setting -- See series notes above)Horror Crosses: 13 Ghosts of Scooby-Doo; Scooby-Doo, Where are You! Animated Series Crosses: The Amazing Chan and the Chan ClanThe Story: Fred may be taking a ghost to the prom.Notes: Scooby and Shaggy have plans to watch a Vincent Van Ghoul marathon on TV. Van Ghoul was a main character in the 13 Ghosts of Scooby-Doo. The Creeper is involved in the story, and a flashback to his first appearance in Scooby-Doo, Where are You! is shown. This is the third or fourth heavy indication that the first series, Scooby-Doo, Where Are You! happened in this timeline as well, prior to this series. The Chan clan appear, apparently going to the same high school in Crystal Cove. This means that the Amazing Chan and the Chan Clan must exist in the main Horror Universe timeline.[image error]SEASON 1 EPISODE 7 “IN FEAR OF THE PHANTOM”Release Date: August 23, 2010 (Contemporary Setting -- See series notes above)Horror Crosses: Scooby-Doo! (Revival Film Series); 13 Ghosts of Scooby-Doo; Phantom of the OperaThe Story: A mysterious “phantom” terrorizes a Hex Girls concert.Notes: The Hex Girls previously appeared in the animated film Scooby-Doo! and the Witch’s Ghost, part of the revival series of films that take place after the gang had split up, gone to college, and gotten careers as adults. In the notes for Looney Tunes: Back in Action, I state that the cartoon version of Shaggy and Scooby brought to life came from the revival films, and that those films are fictional in the Horror Universe. And rightfully so. The films use modern technology and pop culture references, and even if they have aged, they have not aged nearly as much as they should have in three decades. But the divergent timeline crossover linking rule still applies, but here we have to bend the rule a bit. Likely the films take place simply in yet another divergent timeline, one in which events from the original cartoons happened, but decades later. Vincent Van Ghoul appears in this episode, a primary character from the 13 Ghosts of Scooby-Doo. The Phantom here acts very much like the famous Phantom of the Opera. It could be a poser. Normally I would rule out Erik the Opera Ghost as the Phantom, if not for the ambivalence of time in this series. This could very well be Erik’s counterpart in this timeline.[image error]SEASON 1 EPISODE 8 “THE GRASP OF THE GNOME”Release Date: August 30, 2010 (Contemporary Setting -- See series notes)Animated Series Crosses: Dragon’s Lair Non-Horror Crosses: EmergencyThe Story: At the Crystal Cove Royal Knights Fair, a gnome is paralyzing anyone dressed as pirates because it’s not historically accurate.Notes: Many men are dressed at the fair as Dirk the Daring, the hero of the video game and animated series Dragon’s Lair. It’s unknown if this is meant to imply a popularity of the game or if Dirk is a historical figure. John Gage And Roy DeSoto appear. They are the two main characters of the 1970s series Emergency.[image error]SEASON 1 EPISODE 10 “HOWL OF THE FRIGHT HOUND”Release Date: October 4, 2010 (Contemporary Setting -- See series notes)Horror Crosses: Alien; Scooby-Doo, Where are You! Animated Series Crosses: Yogi BearNon-Horror Crosses: Terminator; Silence of the Lambs/HannibalThe Story: When a violent dog terrorizes Crystal Cove, Scooby is blamed and locked up in an animal asylum for the criminally insane. There, Scooby and the gang meet Professor Pericles, a talking super-intelligent parrot with magical powers who was once the mascot of the original Mystery, Inc. The parrot leads a prison break and manages to escape.Notes: The episode has references to Aliens. The Wax Phantom is the last stop on a haunted bus tour. He was a bad guy from Scooby-Doo, Where are You! The real violent dog of this story appears to be a Terminator. There is also a reference to Silence of the Lambs. One of the animals locked up in the asylum is a crazy evil Yogi Bear. Of course, this is the divergent timeline version, but the implication then is that Yogi also exists in the main Horror Universe timeline. There has already been evidence that many Hanna-Barbera cartoon characters exist in the Horror Universe, explained as being experiments of either Moreau or one of his followers. A later episode reveals that talking animals like Scooby and Professor Pericles are descended from Egyptian gods, who were really aliens, and who had interbred with Earth animals (as they were themselves anthropomorphic animals).[image error]SEASON 1 EPISODE 11 “THE SECRET SERUM”Release Date: October 11, 2010 (Contemporary Setting -- see series notes above)Horror Crosses: New Scooby-Doo Movies; Scooby-Doo and Scrappy-Doo; King Kong; Dead AliveNon-Horror Crosses: Dickinson’s Real DealThe Story: While the team is splintered, the town is terrorized by a vampire.Notes: Mama Cass and Don Knotts appear. This is an homage to their guest appearances on the New Scooby-Doo Movies. The plot, even with a member of the Blake family being the suspected vampire, is very similar to an episode of Scooby-Doo and Scrappy-Doo, which brings that Scooby series from the late 70s/early 80s into the Horror Universe, under the rules for crossover links in divergent timelines stated in the notes for this series. Velma’s mother references the rat-monkeys of Skull Island. Skull Island is from King Kong. The rat-monkeys of Skull Island are more specifically from the film Dead Alive. The auctioneer of this episode is David Dickinson, of the British antiques show Dickinson’s Real Deal. It’s a reality show, but I’m just including it since it is a specific reference to another television show.Image result for SCOOBY-DOO! MYSTERY INCORPORATED (ANIMATED SERIES) Miskatonic UniversitySEASON 1 EPISODE 12 “THE SHRIEKING MADNESS”Release Date: October 18, 2010 (Contemporary Setting -- see series notes)Horror Crosses: Lovecraft’s Cthulhu MythosThe Story: The gang has disbanded as a team, but still go together to check out a potential future college. The college is Miskatonic University in Arkham, Massachusetts. But while there, they end up investigating when Professor H.P. Hatecraft is attacked by a strange shrieking creature.Notes: Scooby-Doo at Miskatonic. Any arguments you may have against including Scooby in the Horror Universe are now invalid. Incidentally, the story implies that Crystal Cove, California is near Arkham, which obviously can’t be true. My belief is that Crystal Cove (which in the main Horror Universe timeline is called Coolsville) may actually be in Massachusetts, not California. H.P. Hatecraft is meant to be Lovecraft of course. Another professor is Harlan Ellison. Harlan Ellison is a famed science fiction author, and the actor doing the voice for Ellison in this series is Harlan Ellison himself! The villain turns out to be Robert E. Howard. In real life, Howard was an author who was good friends with Lovecraft and incorporated the Cthulhu Mythos into his works. Note that in this timeline, all three authors are professors at Miskatonic and are approximately 40 years old. [image error]SEASON 1 EPISODE 14 “MYSTERY SOLVERS CLUB STATE FINALS”Release Date: January 31, 2011 (Contemporary Setting -- see series notes)Horror Crosses: Funky Phantom; Scooby-Doo, Where are You!Animated Series Crosses: Speed Buggy; Jabberjaw; Captain CavemanThe Story: When Scooby is sick, he is disappointed about missing the Mystery Solvers Club State Finals. He has a dream in which he does go, and teams up with the mascots of other mystery solving teens to stop a villain who turns out to be the Funky Phantom.Notes: The ending leaves it ambiguous if this was a dream or not. However, Speed Buggy already exists in the main Horror Universe timeline (really) so I’m going to go with the implication that these events happened or at the very least that all of these characters exist in this timeline and thus have counterparts back in the main Horror Universe timeline. This would add Funky Phantom, Jabberjaw (that actually would take place in an alternate future timeline where sharks can talk), and Captain Caveman to the main Horror Universe timeline. This would only bring in the original Captain Caveman show with the Teen Angels and not the later shows that portray Captain Caveman in Bedrock. This episode’s dream sequence was animated in the classic style of Scooby-Doo, Where are You![image error]SEASON 1 EPISODE 16 “WHERE WALKS APHRODITE”Release Date: March 16, 2011 (Contemporary Setting -- See Series Notes)Horror Crosses: Body Snatchers; Stephen King Universe Animated Series Crosses: The Amazing Chan and the Chan Clan; FlintstonesNon-Horror Crosses: The Pebbles and Bamm-Bamm ShowThe Story: Scooby and Professor Pericles work together when the town is terrorized by the goddess Aphrodite.Notes: The episode has similarities to Body Snatchers and the villain (who is not really Aphrodite) has an origin similar to that of Carrie. Suzie Chan of the Chan Clan is seen playing a game with Pebbles Flintstone. See my previous notes for those animated series in the Horror Universe. [image error]SEASONS 1 EPISODE 18 “THE DRAGON’S SECRET”Release Date: March 18, 2011 (Contemporary Setting -- See Series Notes)Horror Crosses: GremlinsThe Story: The gang is caught between a battle of wizards.Notes: In a Chinatown shop, there is a Mogwai that resembles Gizmo from Gremlins. [image error]SEASON 1 EPISODE 19 “NIGHTFRIGHT”Release Date: March 18, 2011 (Contemporary Setting -- See Series Notes)Horror Crosses: 13 Ghosts of Scooby-Doo; Fright NightThe Story: Shaggy and Scooby win a contest to have dinner at Vincent Van Ghoul’s home. There, Van Ghoul is attacked by a villain named Nightfright.Notes: Van Ghoul was a main character in the 13 Ghosts of Scooby-Doo. He was patterned after Vincent Price, who also provided the voice in 13 Ghosts. In 13 Ghosts he was an actual occult expert, but in Mystery Incorporated he is a horror film star and horror host, more matching the career of Vincent Price. This episode references the works of Van Ghoul which are homages to Price’s works. Nightfright is a parody of Fright Night, a fictional horror show hosted by Peter Vincent (who was based on Vincent Price), from the film of the same name. I do not believe that in the main Horror Universe, Vincent Van Ghoul and Peter Vincent are the same person however.[image error]SEASON 1 EPISODE 20 “THE SIREN’S SONG”Release Date: May 2, 2011 (Contemporary Setting -- See Series Notes)Horror Crosses: Scooby-Doo and Scrappy-Doo; 13 Ghosts of Scooby-DooThe Story: The gang investigate a mermaid and an extremist environmental group.Notes: In the Haunted Museum are statues of Scrappy and Flim Flam. Scrappy has previously been discussed. Flim Flam was a child thief who tagged along with Scooby and Shaggy during 13 Ghosts of Scooby-Doo. In this episode he’s said to be doing 25 to life.[image error]SEASON 1 EPISODE 24 “DEAD JUSTICE”Release Date: May 28, 2011 (Contemporary Setting -- See Series Notes)Non-Horror Crosses: Jonah HexThe Story: The gang have to deal with both the Piranha-Goat and a resurrected ghost sheriff. Notes: Though the ghost is named Iron Will Williamson, aka Dead Justice, he is animated to look like Jonah Hex, a DC Comics western hero. This episode supports that Crystal Cove is on the west coast, as it’s depicted to have a wild west history. It’s not likely that could have happened in Massachusetts, but this is an alternate timeline, so who knows?[image error]SEASON 1 EPISODE 25 “PAWN OF SHADOWS”Release Date: June 5, 2011 (Contemporary Setting - -see series notes above)Horror Crosses: Lovecraft’s Cthulhu Mythos; New Scooby-Doo Movies Animated Series Crosses: Jonny Quest; The Amazing Chan and the Chan ClanThe Story: The gang is attacked by a high tech assassin.Notes: A recurring character who appears in this story is H.P. Hatecraft, this timeline’s counterpart to H.P. Lovecraft. Johnny Quest and his team/family appear in a flashback to the original version of Mystery, Inc. from the 1970s. Another character in this story, who is rival to Hatecraft and suspected to be the assassin is Regina Wentworth, author of the popular Dusk books. She is this timeline’s counterpart of Stephenie Meyer, author of the Twilight books. Mama Cass appears again, another homage to the New Scooby-Doo Movies. Hatecraft, allegedly to better understand girls, has several girls’ pictures on his wall, including Suzie Chan.[image error]SEASON 2 EPISODE 5 “THE HODAG OF HORROR”Release Date: August 3, 2012 Horror Crosses: Hellraiser; Friday the 13Animated Series Crosses: Transformers Animated (2007)The Story: A creature called the Hodag is stealing jewelry.Notes: The puzzle box from Hellraiser is seen in the sheriff's office and Pinhead’s voice is heard. Jason Voorhees’ hockey mask is also seen in the cabinet of curiosities. Sari Sumdac appears in a flashback. She is a character from Transformers Animated. In the main Horror Universe timeline, IDW’s “steampunk” version of Transformers exists, but apparently in this divergent timeline, Transformers Animated is the version that exists.

Fake News and Alternative Facts: The Fictional Reality of Donald J. Trump

"The Beverly Hillbillies?  They're pretend, Randy.  Just like Richie Rich and Donald Trump.  They're TV characters."--Early Hickey

Let me begin by stating this, and I hope it's clear.  This is not a political post.  If you want to know my views on our president, come find me on social media.  This is an objective look at our 45th president's fictional counterpart that exists within the Television Crossover Universe.

Whatever is going on in the real world is irrelevant.  From a TVCU perspective, this is a historic moment.  We've talked about U.S. Presidents before as they exist in the TVCU.  But usually, those presidents gain their fictional counterparts retroactively, years after their deaths in the case of pre-television age presidents like George Washington, or once they enter the political world, for those presidents who exist in our television age.

Our current president, Donald J. Trump is a very different kind of president.  Well, he told us that when he was running, and he's proven that to be true in office, but that's not what I'm talking about.  What I mean is that Donald J. Trump was famous enough before entering politics, and existed in the age of media, to have plenty of  appearances of his TVCU counterpart already.  And today, again, from an objective TVCU viewpoint, this is what we're talking about.  This post neither endorses nor criticizes President Donald J. Trump.  This post is a celebration of the first fictional president.

19th Century--TRACKDOWN--A con man named Walter Trump comes to town with a scheme to build a wall.  Too weird not to mention.

December 1958--QUANTUM LEAP--"Conundrum"--Time traveler Sam Beckett leaps into the body of a cab driver.  He meets meets an angel, who is there to show Sam an alternate life.  Incidentally, he also meets Donald Trump, giving him the idea for the Trump Tower.  Later, Stephen Colbert will go back in time and try to undo Sam's interference, but only makes things worse.

1970s--54--Famous 70s NYC nightclub seen and told through the eyes of a young employee.  Donald Trump plays VIP patron.

February 1981--THE JEFFERSONS--"My Hero"--George tells Louise, Helen and Florence that he rescued an old lady from a robbery attempt by fighting off the perpetrator. However, when George learns that the criminal escaped from the police, George becomes frightened and confesses to Louise that he embellished on the story; the robbery was actually averted when George accidentally slipped on a banana peel and crashed into the criminal.  Donald Trump plays Donald Trump.

1983 to 2017--REALITY TV, TALK SHOWS, SPORTING EVENTS, WRESTLING, AND NEWS PROGRAMS--It's a TVCU concept that reality TV is not real.  I would hold that that's especially true when Donald Trump is on the show.  Many talk shows often have fictional characters like muppets, cartoon characters, and movie characters such as Borat and Ron Burgendy.  And wrestling is fake.  Robocop and Chucky have been on wrestling

January 1985--THE JEFFERSONS--"You'll Never Get Rich"--George, Louise and Florence go to Atlantic City, NJ. The 3 have different experiences. Louise trying to be 'star struck' but striking out. Florence's hot streak and George...is unbelievable.  Donald Trump plays Donald Trump.

1986--MAN OF STEEL # 2--While most of the Post-Crisis Superman stories are not in the TVCU, some are, including those featuring the post-crisis Luthor reimagined by John Byrne to be inspired party by Donald Trump.  Luthor can't be Trump.  Luthor in this version was born poor, and used his scientific genius to become rich.  Trump was born rich and made most of his business through real estate and entertainment.  However, they shared many other characteristics which were intentional.  Perhaps Power and Coogan were correct that there is some family relationship between the Trumps and Luthors.

1988--SESAME STREET--Martin P. Robinson plays Ronald Grump, a grouch who must be related to Trump.

Summer 1989--Bob Wronski has an encounter with Donald Trump on Cape Cod.

1989--GHOSTS CAN'T DO IT--Elderly Scott kills himself after a heart attack wrecks his body, but then comes back as a ghost and convinces his loving young hot wife Kate to pick and kill a young man in order for Scott to possess his body and be with her again.  Donald Trump plays Donald Trump.

1990--GREMLINS 2--The Gremlins invade Trump Tower.  This film has many other crossovers which you can uncover in my Gremlins post and in the Horror Crossover Encyclopedia and the forthcoming Cartoon Crossover Encyclopedia.  Dennis E. Power and Doctor Peter Coogan believe that Donald Trump is part of the Luthor family, which they discuss particularly regarding this film, in their Luthor family tree articles at the Secret History of the Wold Newton Universe website.

1991--PIZZA MAN--A pizza man is on a quest to get $15.23 when someone orders one. He uncovers a plot to rule the world and stops at nothing to get his pay.  Donald Trump is played by Simon Richards.

October 31, 1992--DESTROYER--"Ghost in the Machine"--On Halloween night, 1992, Remo Williams and Chiun investigate a prominent NYC skyscraper that has become intangible. A self-proclaimed witch uses the Necronomicon and chants "Ia! Ia! Shub-Niggurath!" Also, there's a parody of Tiffany's called Spiffany's, the same name that The Simpsons uses for it. The issue is that the main villain is a thinly veiled Donald Trump (Randal T. Rumpp) and in the conclusion, Remo kicks him out of the window at the top floor of Rumpp Tower. Trump appears as a thinly veiled parody, Randall T. Rumpp, who is a sleazy and now bankrupt businessman with idle dreams about one day being President. He teams up with one of Remo's old villains, the Kraseevah, and at the conclusion of the book, Remo kicks him off the top floor of "Rumpp" Tower. So, at least in my fantasy world, Trump was never President. (I've considered that he may have survived and sought out AIM to repair him, eventually becoming MODAAK, but I haven't decided whether or not to do that. Also, a couple of Lovecraft tomes appear in the book, owned by a self-proclaimed witch, who also tries (and fails) to summon Shub-Niggurath. Trump doesn't use the Necronomicon. Trump Tower becomes intangible through the actions of the Kraseevah, a former Soviet agent using stolen intangibility tech. In a previous adventure, Remo and Chiun rendered him unable to recorporealize, and in this book he ends up in the phone system of Trump Tower, causing the building to phase slightly out of sync with the rest of the world. The Necronomicon is used by a witch to try and bring the tower back, but she fails at it.  [From a friend who I'm not sure wanted to be identified.]

December 1992--HOME ALONE 2--Trump briefly encounters Kevin McCallister.  My theory is whatever Trump absorbed from the Necronomicon transferred to Kevin, which he carried back to Shermer, IL, creating the anomalous issues surrounding the Griswald/Griswold family.  Watch the meeting here.

1993--THE PICKLE--Harry Stone (Danny Aiello), a formerly top notch director, has had three disastrous movies in a row. Facing dismissal from the top perch of Hollywood and finacial ruin from back taxes, he is forced to take on a very commercial and, he believes, ridiculous movie. Now as he faces the film's release and, he believes, another total flop which will complete his ruin, he meets up with his son and daughter and his former wives (which includes Dyan Cannon) to examine his life and his future. The film examines the turmoil a movie director goes through with a film release. His agent (Jerry Stiller) assures him that he has a hit, while those around him wince (as does the audience) at the thought of the movie within the movie. The movie is "The Pickle", a supposedly social satire where a bunch of super-white kids from Kansas take vegetables into space via a super cucumber and land on an Earth-like planet where everyone lives only on beef and die at age 49. As shown in the excerpts of the film, Little Richard stars as the President of the planet who has 6 months to live, Ally Sheedy heads up the Kansas contingent, and Griffin Dunne is the President's aide who falls in love with Sheedy.  Donald Trump plays Donald Trump.

May 1994--FRESH PRINCE OF BEL-AIR--"For Sale by Owner"--
[image error]

1994--STARS AND STREET FOREVER--In this anniversary, Joe Pesci plays Ronald Grump.

1995--ACROSS THE SEA OF TIME--A young Russian boy, Thomas Minton, travels to New York as a passenger on a Russian freighter. Close to Ellis Island he gets off and thus starts his journey to America the same way as all immigrants in former times. Thomas is searching for the family of one of his ancestors, who had emigrated decades ago, but once sent a letter home together with a sample of his new profession: 3D-Photography. The boy follows his relative's traces by counter-checking the old 3D-Photographs of New York (using an antique viewer) with the same places and how they look today. This way, the audience gets to see the Big Apple in former times as well as today.  Donald Trump plays Donald Trump.

1996--EDDIE--Eddie is a New York limo driver and a fanatical follower of the New York Knicks professional basketball team. The team is struggling with a mediocre record when, in mid-season, "Wild Bill" Burgess, the new owner, as a public relations gimmick, stages an 'honorary coach' contest, which Eddie wins. The fans love it, so "Wild Bill" fires the coach and hires her. She takes the bunch of overpaid prima donnas that make up the team and turns them around. But the owner hopes to move the team, now the darling of the New York fans, to St. Louis. He may OWN the team, but it BELONGS to the city and the fans!  Donald Trump plays Donald Trump.

October 1996--THE NANNY--"The Rosie Show"--After getting picked from the audience for the Rosie Show, Fran finds herself a regular, giving parenting advice. As her celebrity grows, Maxwell becomes afraid he's going to lose her.  Donald Trump plays Donald Trump.

1996--THE ASSOCIATE--A comedy about making it on Wall Street. Prejudices are hard to break and Laurel Ayres quickly learns that in order for people to take her seriously she has to work for an older white man or be one.  Donald Trump plays Donald Trump.

May 1997--SUDDENLY SUSAN--"I'll See That and Raise You Susan"--Donald Trump plays Donald Trump.

May 1997--THE DREW CAREY SHOW--"New York and Queens"--After a disastrous trip to New York to sell Buzz Beer, the gang makes a shocking discovery: The Rocky Horror Picture Show (1975) has been replaced as the weekend midnight movie with The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert (1994), leading do a drag-off in the streets with Mimi and her Priscilla cronies.  Donald Trump plays Donald Trump.  Drew and gang also encounter one of the detectives from NYPD BLUE in this episode.

October 1997--NIGHTMAN--"Whole Lotta Shakin'"--Donald Trump plays Donald Trump.

October 1997--NIGHTMAN--"Face to Face"--A convict after being savagely beaten in prison is operated on by a plastic surgeon who's trying a new procedure but somehow it gives the man the ability to alter his face into anyone's. So he alters his face to look like the doctor and walks out the prison. He then sets out to go after the ones who placed him in prison and among them is Johnny's father.  Donald Trump plays Donald Trump.

January 1998--SPIN CITY--"The Paul Lassiter Story"--Randall has a tight deadline for writing a book but can expect no help from close-mouthed Mike, whose recent doctor visit hints that he may have cancer. And several staffers try to obtain new office chairs from a snooty supply technician.  Donald Trump plays Donald Trump.

1998--CELEBRITY--The fortunes of a husband and wife differ drastically after they divorce.  Donald Trump plays Donald Trump.

1998--FRIENDS--"The One With the Kips"--Chandler and Monica both mention sharing an elevator with Trump in Atlantic City.

October 1998--SABRINA, THE TEENAGE WITCH--"Good Will Haunting"--Hilda and Zelda go to their Aunt Beulah's Halloween party that takes place in an asylum. Sabrina's party is terrorized by a talking doll from the Other Realm.  Donald Trump plays Daniel Ray McLeech.

July 1999--SEX AND THE CITY--"The Man, the Myth, the Viagra"--After walking out on her date who turned out to be still married despite his claim to be divorced, Miranda is happy to be picked up by cocky barman Steve, who soon wants more then their one-night stand. Carrie believes her rekindled relationship with Mr. Big is good enough to get him to know her friends a little better. Samantha has an atypical lover, even for a man-eater like her: Donald Trump's single friend Ed is past 70, so will his old-fashioned wooing and lavish gifts outweigh his physical decay?  Donald Trump plays Donald Trump.

November 1999--CELEBRITY DEATH MATCH--"HIGH TECH FIGHTING"--Richard Simmons and Billy Blanks host a killer workout regime; Don King and Donald Trump wage war, with the loser paying in blood; Keanu Reeves and Brad Pitt lead in a virtual-reality showdown.  Donald Trump is played by Tommy C.  I don't know if Trump dies in this.  My usual explanation for Celebrity Death Match is that they use clones, but considering Trump's Necronomicon/Old Ones experience, I think he probably can no longer die.

2001--BLACK NOISE--A team of sound engineers unknowingly creates KILLER sounds for the CIA when suddenly the sound disappears, and one by one, so do the engineers.  Donald Trump is played by Lee Becker.

November 2001--SOUTH PARK--Kyle's cousin Kyle, a negative Jewish stereotype, comes to town to visit. Meanwhile, Mr. Garrison comes up with an only-slightly more pleasant alternative to airline travel.  Donald Trump is played by Trey Parker.  Clearly in the Cartoon Universe, South Park, Trump didn't run because of Garrison, but in the TVCU, the reverse it the case.

2001--ZOOLANDER--At the end of his career, a clueless fashion model is brainwashed to kill the Prime Minister of Malaysia.  Donald Trump plays Donald Trump.

December 2001--TWICE UPON A CHRISTMAS--Santa's first born daughter, Rudolfa, is secretly selling pieces of the North Pole, and eventually take over where she attempts to ruin Christmas, and replace Santa's workshop with a brand new casino. But Santa's lost daughter Kristin returns to the North Pole with her two children who are desperate to save Christmas, and rebuild the shattered village.  Donald Trump is played by Sean Allen.

July 2002--MONK--"Mr. Monk and the Psychic"--When a woman drives off the road to her death, her body is mysteriously found the next morning by a psychic known for fudging the truth. Monk must discover if she's telling the truth this time, or else let a murderer go free.  Donald Trump plays one of the men in the party.

2002--DONALD TRUMP'S REAL ESTATE TYCOON!--Donald Trump plays Donald Trump.

2002--TWO WEEKS NOTICE--A lawyer decides that she's used too much like a nanny by her boss, so she walks out on him.  Donald Trump plays Donald Trump.

2004--MARMALADE--Marmalade is a romantic comedy about a fashion model who gets too old to continue her work. Her demise in her professional life happens as her personal life falls completely apart.  Donald Trump plays Donald Trump.

2005--SESAME STREET--GROUCH APPRENTICE--Martin P. Robinson now plays Donald Grump, who must be the twin brother of Ronald Grump.

September 2006--STUDIO 60--"There's always been a struggle between art and commerce. But now I'm telling you art is getting its ass kicked. And it's making us mean. . . . It's making us cheap punks. People are having contests to see how much they can be like Donald Trump. We're eating worms for money. . . ."- Wes Mendell

March 2010--THE CLEVELAND SHOW--Cleveland takes Donna on a belated honeymoon to New York, but Cleveland spends more time with his friends than her. Meanwhile, the kids try to sell a pilot to MTV, and Coach McFall tries to "rekindle a romance" with Tyne Daly.  Donald Trump is played by Will Sasso.

October 2011--HORRORWEEN--Some young entrepreneurs strike it rich and then move into a high class neighborhood. They try to impress their new celebrity neighbors by having a haunted house.  Donald Trump plays Forbes cover billionaire.

December 19, 2013--EPIC RAP BATTLES OF HISTORY--"Donald Trump vs. Ebenezer Scrooge"--Trump uses whatever Epic Rap Battle time travel device they use to battle Scrooge.  From Scrooge's perspective, this must take place during the events of A CHRISTMAS CAROL.

June 16, 2015--SIMPSONS--"Trumptastic Voyage"--Donald J. Trump announces he will run for president.  Homer J. Simpson is paid to be there and cheer.  He gets to close to Trump's hair and gets sucked into a pocket reality.  Within this hair realm are Amelia Earhart, Bigfoot, the monkeys and monolith from 2001:  A SPACE ODYSSEY, and the Hamburglar.  Somehow he is there for years and yet only for seconds.  Technically, in the classic TVCU timeline, this would be considered part of the Bongo/Zed Anomaly, but in the new TVCU canon, this is relegated to the Cartoon Universe.  I prefer this to be in the TVCU, particularly because of the Mr. Garrison problem I lay out below in the Alternate Realities section.  Watch the video here.

2015--THE 2000'S:  A NEW REALITY--Donald Trump plays Interviewee.

February 6, 2016--SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE--"Larry David/The 1975"--Derek Zoolander makes his second appearance on Weekend Update with Hansel to discuss the fashion of presidential candidates.  They highly praise Trump as a male model.  This is Zoolander's second appearance on Weekend Update.  Weekend Update is established as part of the TVCU as a real news program within the fictional universe, and has had many many other crossovers, including Borat, Father Guido Sarducci, Big Bird and so many others.  Watch the interview here.

No automatic alt text available.

October 2016--COMICS.COM--"Stalker"--Boris and Natasha apparently met with someone at Trump Tower.

October 19, 2016--BAD HOMBRES, NASTY WOMEN--UHF News hosts the final debate between presidential candidates Donald J. Trump and Hillary Clinton.  UHF of course was a song and film from the 1980s by Weird Al Yankovic.  Since I'm still having trouble embedding YouTube videos, you can watch it here.  The film UHF also featured the interocitor, a fictional device that first appeared in THIS ISLAND EARTH.  Originally, in UHF, the channel was managed by George Neuman (played by Yankovic).  The film ended with UHF 62 becoming hugely successful, so it could make sense that somehow it evolved into a national network called UHF.  Here Yankovic is actually playing himself.  Both are Yankovic creations, so I'm sure the link it intentional.

The Possible Future....

January 2021--THE SIMPSONS--"Bart to the Future"--Lisa Simpsons becomes our 46th president, following Donald J. Trump.  For this timeline, I'm including the Simpsons in the TVCU because it works for this timeline.  However, we must assume from this that the bulk of the Simpsons takes place in 2000 in the TVCU, and that they age normally.

ALTERNATE REALITIES:

CARTOON UNIVERSE:  In the Cartoon Universe, it's a very complicated situation.  Donald J. Trump is president as seen on the Simpsons, except that Mr. Garrison is the president, as seen on SOUTH PARK.  Sigh.  See my Cartoon Crossover Encyclopedia, whenever I finish it, for more on how the Cartoon Universe is actually a patchwork of overlapping realities that have become interconnected.  Trump has also appeared twice on Tiny Toon Adventures, played by Danny Gans and Rodger Bumpass.

DARKEST TIMELINE--As seen in BACK TO THE FUTURE 2, in an alternate reality, Biff Tannen gets a sports almanac from the future that makes him rich.  It appears in this reality, he gains the successes that would have been Trump's in the regular timeline.  Tannen is killed shortly after.  It's unknown how Tannen's death would have then affected Trump.

New Avengers Vol 1 47Image may contain: 4 people

MARVEL UNIVERSE (EARTH-616)--This can't be in the TVCU.  Luke Cage meets and intimidates Trump, but it's tied into Secret Invasion and has many characters that would be too old by 2009.  Trump has also appeared in Web of Spider-Man # 6.

MARVEL MULTIVERSE (EARTH-65)--In the alternate universe where Gwen Stacy became Spider-Gwen, Donald Trump became MODAAK (Mental Organism Designatd As America's King).  Captain America stopped his scheme to build a wall.

SKITLANDIA/NOT ANOTHER SPOOF MOVIE UNIVERSE--

Anthony Atamanuik plays Trump in Trump vs. Bernie Debate, The Chris Gethard Show, and @Midnight. James Fuetterer plays Trump in The Apprentice:  VP Edition, Keeping Up with the Kandidates, and Bernie Sanders Hires the A-Team.Jimmy Fallon plays Trump on Late Night and the Tonight Show.John Di Domenico plays Trump in Meet the Spartans, Not Another Celebrity Movie, Marino 2016, President Trump:  Can He Really Win? and You Got Trumped:  The First 100 Days.Phillip Wilburn plays Trump in Sharp News, CollegeHumor Originals, and Drump Drumpf!Robert Berlin plays Trump in You Be Drankin, Donald Trump's Numbers are Sinking, Donald Trump Meets Panther the Publicist, and Donald Trump Florida Tour 2016.Shayne Topp plays Trump on Smosh and the Big What If.SNL variant--Though I place Weekend Update in the TVCU, I would argue that the various incarnations of Trump played on Saturday Night Live are in the weird alternate dimension Toby O'Brien calls Skitlandia.

TVCU 2--Donald Trump plays Waldo's dad in the reboot of THE LITTLE RASCALS.  Does this mean that the original Waldo from the original Little Rascals is related to the Trump/Luthor family?  Trump also appears in the NEW ADDAMS FAMILY played by Scott Swanson.  And finally, in the pilot for TIME AFTER TIME, when H.G. Wells sees Donald Trump's America, he cries.

ZOMBIELAND--This is slightly off topic, but it came up in my research.  In the alternate timeline created by the Winchesters starting the apocalypse, the timeline I propose is the Romero Zombie timeline, Sarah Palin ran against Obama in 2012 and won.

Donald Trump.  You were really great in the world of fictional entertainment.  I wish you'd give up this president thing and go back to TV cameos and reality shows.

A Belated CHRISTMAS STORY

You'll shoot your eye out.

It's March, and I'm covering A Christmas Story.  It's been a Christmas tradition for me to cover a Christmas themed subject every December 25 on the blog, but I've been a bit behind schedule.  So since we're behind schedule, and we've finally wrapped up the TVCU Crew celebration (It's a major award!) let's get going with Ralphie and his Red Rider BB gun.

1912 to Present--Santa has appeared on screen since 1912, in over a thousand films and television shows. Not all are TVCU canon. Of those that are, some are of the “real” Santa and some are just a man in the suit, but it’s a TVCU concept that anyone wearing the suit can become possessed by the Christmas Spirit, a magical tulpa like aspect of Jesus. Some of those appearances from the TVCU (or Television Crossover Multiverse) are: BABES IN TOYLAND, ROAD TO UTOPIA, SANTA AND THE FAIRY SNOW QUEEN, I LOVE LUCY, THE JACK BENNY PROGRAM, RUDOLPH, THE RED-NOSED REINDEER, THE FLINTSTONES, THUNDERBIRDS, BATMAN, MISTEROGERS, THE LION, THE WITCH AND THE WARDROBE, FROSTY THE SNOWMAN, BEWITCHED, THE BRADY BUNCH, SANTA AND THE THREE BEARS, ADAM-12, MISTER ROGERS’ NEIGHBORHOOD, THE FIRST EASTER RABBIT, RUDOLPH’S SHINY NEW YEAR, MCCLOUD, A FLINTSTONE CHRISTMAS, LOU GRANT, RAGGEDY ANN AND ANDY IN THE GREAT SANTA CLAUS CAPER, ALL IN THE FAMILY, BENJI’S VERY OWN CHRISTMAS STORY, LAVERNE & SHIRLEY, RUDOLPH AND FROSTY’S CHRISTMAS IN JULY, BUGS BUNNY’S LOONEY CHRISTMAS TALES, THE LITTLE RASCALS’ CHRISTMAS SPECIAL, A FAMILY CIRCUS CHRISTMAS, CASPER’S FIRST CHRISTMAS, ALICE, YOGI’S FIRST CHRISTMAS, A CHIPMUNK CHRISTMAS, LITTLE HOUSE ON THE PRAIRIE, FAST TIMES AT RIDGEMONT HIGH, DIFF’RENT STROKES, GLORIA, A CHRISTMAS STORY, T.J. (And I’m sure I’ve forgotten some still.)

A Christmas Story film poster.jpg

December 1940--A CHRISTMAS STORY--Santa appears in this story of a child and a dream.  This is in because it has crossed with WAREHOUSE 13.  It then further pulls in PREP AND LANDING and BLACK XMAS.  [The screenplay for A Christmas Story is based on material from author Jean Shepherd's collection of short stories,  In God We Trust, All Others Pay Cash . Three of the semi-autobiographical short stories on which the film is based were originally published in  Playboy  magazine between 1964 and 1966. Shepherd later read "Duel in the Snow, or Red Ryder nails the Cleveland Street Kid" and told the otherwise unpublished story "Flick's Tongue" on his WOR Radio talk show, as can be heard in one of the DVD extras. Bob Clark states on the DVD commentary that he became interested in Shepherd's work when he heard "Flick's Tongue" on the radio in 1968. Additional source material for the film, according to Clark, came from unpublished anecdotes that Shepherd told live audiences "on the college circuit."

It Runs in the Family 1994 poster.jpg

Summer 1941--MY SUMMER STORY [AKA IT RUNS IN THE FAMILY]--A sequel to Ralphie's story.

Any Friend of Nicholas Nickleby Is a Friend of Mine Poster

1942--AMERICAN PLAYHOUSE--"Any Friend of Nicholas Nickleby Is a Friend of Mine"--Ralphie (called Ralphie Spaulding in this story but it's the same Ralphie) meets a man claiming to be THE Charles Dickens.

Mid 1940s--THE STAR-CROSSED ROMANCE OF JOSEPHINE COSNOWSKI--Ralphie's Thanksgiving story revolving around his first romance with a neighbor.  You can watch the whole movie here.

Mid to late 1940s--THE GREAT AMERICAN FOURTH OF JULY AND OTHER DISASTERS--More stories featuring a teen Jean Shepherd, I mean Ralphie Parker.  Watch it here.

A Christmas Story 2 DVD.jpg

1946--A CHRISTMAS STORY 2--Ralphie wants a 1939 Mercury Eight convertible for Christmas.

late 1940s--Prep and Landing: Naughty vs. Nice--James Bojaciuk reports:  I'm watching Prep and Landing: Naughty vs. Nice on tv right now. A little girl who tried to get herself on the "nice" list by hacking Santa's database had a flashback to visiting Santa at the mall. Behind her in line were Ralphie and the kid in the leather helmet from A Christmas Story. Despite the modern technology seen, the story would have to take place in the late 1940s.

Late 1940s--THE PHANTOM OF THE OPEN HEARTH--Ralphie Parker is now a teen during prom season.  Oddly, the lamp situation is reenacted, as if the whole family had completely forgotten about the incident from a few years earlier.  The lamp won't stay dead.  (In reality, Ralphie Parker is a fictionalized version of Jean Shepherd who wrote of his childhood.  This TV movie was also inspired by his stories.  In the real world, the lamp thing actually happened when he was a teen.  This is more accurate.  The lamp from the more famous movie was a leftover prop from the 1974 film Black Xmas.  It was preserved and has made its rounds in Hollywood.  In fact, the house from A Christmas Story is now a museum where replicas of the lamp are sold, including the box.  One such box and lamp used to tour with a less than famous band, and has recently been sold to Jay and Silent Bob's Secret Stash as seen on COMIC BOOK MEN.  The lamp from the TV movie was actually broken during the filming of the movie.  And of course the real lamp did break, but other leg lamps probably exist out there somewhere.)

1950--AMERICAN PLAYHOUSE--"Concealed Enemies, Part I:  Suspicion"--A dramatized account of the actual events that led to the 1950 conviction of former U.S. State Department official Alger Hiss of perjury before a federal grand jury and his resulting imprisonment.  Ralphie Parker is involved.  This is based on a true story, in which Jean Shepherd was involved.

OllieHopnoodlesHavenofBliss.jpg

1950s--OLLIE HOPNOODLE'S HAVEN OF BLISS--The story of Ralphie grown up.

December 2006--BLACK CHRISTMAS--Sana appears.  This film seems to be connected to the original version of Black Christmas, A Christmas Story, and Warehouse 13 due to a certain lamp in the house, certainly a "major award", and from Italy, as it's "Fragile".  The lamp was broken in the 40s, but somehow restored, and relocated to two houses involved in very similar sets of murders.  It's no wonder eventually it wound up in Warehouse 13.

December 2011--WAREHOUSE 13--Peter Lattimer touches an object once belonging to Philip Van Doren Stern, the author of THE GREATEST GIFT, the story that was the basis of IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE.  This transports Peter to the Mirror Universe, the world where Peter hadn't been born.  This implies that THE GREATEST GIFT really happened, though perhaps under slightly different circumstances.  Also of note in this episode is the appearance of the "leg" lamp from A CHRISTMAS STORY, pulling one of my favorite holiday classics into the TVCU.

Christmas 2013--COUGAR TOWN--"Christmas Story Promos"--The pink bunny costumes are still being made and given out as Christmas presents.  I couldn't embed the video but you can watch it here.

December 2014--KRAMPUS--"The Secret Society of Santas"--Somehow all the various evolutions of Santa separate into separate beings.  But that's not the point of posting this.  I'm just saving that info for another project.  This Secret Society of Santa has the leg lamp in their headquarters.  They must have stolen it from Warehouse 13, and this is confirmation that there is something mystical about this lamp.  But it is a major award.

ALTERNATE REALITIES:

FACEBOOK LAND--Ralph versus the Walking Dead!  I couldn't embed this one either, so watch it here.

WRONSKIVERSE--1993--COLD WAR--A Super Comics crossover event that ran in all the Super Comics titles of December 1994.  Powerman (Chris Kowalski), the Heroes of Earth, and the Champions team up to stop several cold based villains from freezing the world.  Crossovers included the Rankin-Bass Rudolph and Frosty, Bedford Falls (from IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE), the Tim Allen version of Santa from THE SANTA CLAUSE, the PEANUTS gang, and an aged Ralphie Parker staring into a store window at a Red Rider BB gun.  This story can't be included in my I WAS A TEENAGE SUPER-HERO timeline because in the TVCU, Bob Wronski stopped operating as Powerman by 1993, and thus this only happened in the alternate Wronskiverse.

Coming up next will be a celebration of our first fictional president!!!  I double dog dare you to read it.

(And be sure to drink your Ovaltine......)
