Scare-A-Con
We are not added to the page yet, but we have been invited as guests at the upcoming Scare-A-Con, June 3 - 5 at the Mass Mutual Center in Springfield, MA. That technically makes the TVCU Crew celebrities, I guess. We will also be recording an episode at the convention, not live, but still before an audience. http://scareacon.com/scare-a-con-new-...

THE DUKES OF HAZZARD
Just'a good ol' boys
Never meanin' no harm.
Beats all you never saw
Been in trouble with the law
Since the day they was bornStaightnin' the curves
Flatnin the hills
Someday the mountain might get 'em
But the law never willMakin' their way
The only way they know how
That's just a little bit more
Than the law will allow.Makin' their way
The only way they know how
That's just a little bit more
Than the law will allow.I'm a good ol' boy
You know my momma loves me
But she don't understand
They keep a showin my hands and not my face on TVOH YEA

So let's get this over with first. As a kid, I loved the Dukes of Hazzard. My friends and I would ride our bikes pretending to be driving the General Lee and making jumps. It was a fun show.

I get that the Confederate flag in itself is now considered to be offensive. I indeed personally agree with that. However, when I see it atop the roof of an orange Dodge Charger, the meaning of that symbol completely changes for me. It then represents good ol' boys, never meaning' no harm, makin' their way, the only way they know how.
They were good guys, fighting for the common man against the corrupt government.
Chronology 1: The Live Action Series -- The Television Crossover Universe (also known as the Horror Universe)
March 1963--THE ANDY GRIFFITH SHOW--"The Darlings Are Coming"--Gordon Long says: It's not exactly a crossover, but I just realized that the Darling clan who lived near Mayberry must be related to the Duke family. Not only do the patriarchs of the two clans (Briscoe Darling Jr and Uncle Jesse Duke) look and sound alike (yeah, I know, same actor-as-cousin characters principle) but both families have musical abilities (the four Darling sons were played by a country musical group, the Dillards, and the Duke boys' actors John Schneider and Tom Wopat were country singers). Also, in addition to the common last initial of both families 'D', the Dukes were involved in moonshining and the Darlings were shown to have moonshine jugs around that they made music on, but there is that subtle hint they did moonshining, too. (And in some films from the 2000s, Uncle Jesse---then played by country star Willie Nelson---also is a proponent and user of marijuana.) The original tv series was based on a film called The Moonrunners. The director, Gy Waldron, originated The Dukes of Hazzard. So it's pretty obviously while a few things have be explained (like the Duke-equivalents Uncle Jesse and his family are Haggs in the film), the Moonrunners is part of the Dukes continuity. I also found out that the lady who played the daughter Darling on the Andy Griffith show and in the films also played the character on an episode of Nashville Now, a country music talk show similar to the Tonight Show or Letterman, etc. on The Nashville Network. As many country performers showed up on the Dukes as themselves it is a totally cool crossover with the Charlene Darling character. Oh, and Robert will love this---a recurring character on Nashville Now was Shotgun Red, a very muppet-like puppet.... Shotgun Red was also a recurring character on Hee Haw---just don't recall if he was in any of the recurring sketches or just like the recurring country music guests. More crossover fun for Robert!
1970--THE DUKES OF HAZZARD: THE BEGINNING--This is the movie that came out in 2007. As seen on screen it would take place in TVCU3. Just slightly tweaked, it's a prequel to the feature film in TVCU2. If that feature film is in 2005, then this would take place in 2000 in the TVCU2. However, if we ignore modern technology and pop culture references, the story takes place when the cousins are around 16 years old. The boys don't have their drivers' licences yet, and Daisy is just old enough to get a job, while they are all still in high school. This movie was meant to be a prequel to the feature film and another origin story.
1975--THE DUKES OF HAZZARD--This is the movie that came out in 2005. As seen on screen it would take place in TVCU2. However, if we ignore modern technology and pop culture references, the story itself takes place when the cousins are around 21 years old. They are old enough to order drinks in a bar, but their friend that they grew up with is still in college. This movie was meant to be a prequel to the series (other than being set in the present) and an origin story. This movie includes an appearance by Ramathorn and Rabbit from Super Troopers has Campus cops however for the purposes of this timeline they are the Fathers of the Charcters seen in Super Troopers
1975--MOONSHINERS--This movie better fits in the Cineverse, but the basic storyline probably also happened in the Dukes continuity, explaining how the Dukes came to be legally restricted to Hazzard County.
1979 to 1985--THE DUKES OF HAZZARD--The adventures of the fast-drivin', rubber-burnin' Duke boys of Hazzard County.
January 1979--DUKES OF HAZZARD--"One Armed Bandits"--Matt Hickman says: In One Armed Bandits the premiere episode of The Dukes of HazzardCooter Has and Drives a Red and white 1975 Gran Torino Better know has the Starsky & Hutch car. thing is according to the commentary it actually one of the ones used on the Show. which begs the question of how Cooter got it

1979 to 1980--DUKES OF HAZZARD--"Jude Emery"/"Mason Dixon's Girls"--The second season episodes "Jude Emery", about a Texas Ranger, and "Mason Dixon's Girls", about a travelling private investigator and his female associates, were both pilots written by Dukes creator Gy Waldron for proposed new shows. Both failed to sell.
Let's say 1979--From Toby O'Brien: Brian Hoffman, a professional Red Skelton impressionist, with the General Lee from "The Dukes if Hazzard". Keeping the Freddie the Freeloader character alive.....

1980 To 1989--80's Wrestling Mania---Boss Hogg Mangers various Pro Wrestlers in Different Federations throughout the 1980's(80's Wrestling Mania is a Mobile Game where you run your own Werstling Federation all of the Characters are Expys of real wrestlers and pop culture figures of the 80's including one of Boss Hogg called Big Boss Jr. I'm going to count them has the actual versions for TVCU purposes)
1980 to 1981--ENOS--Enos spins off to his own series when he gets a job as a cop in the big city. Click here for Thom Holbrook's review.
1982
Cooter's Place in Hazzard County
General Lee
SUMMER - STAR CARS - A Schablotski family trip to Florida is waylayed by a speed trap in Hazzard County, GA. Zee decides to fight the ticket, rather than pay it and leave, which strands the family for the duration of the planned vacation. While there, Ron witnesses an exhibition race for charity between the local favorite Duke boys in their Dodge Charger "The General Lee", celebrity road racer Jim Douglas in his VW Beetle "Herbie", and an unknown racer that the Dukes knew who drove a Trans Am and went by his CB handle "The Bandit". During the race someone steals the proceeds from the event, and the Bandit is framed for the crime. The three Schablotski boys (Godzislaw III, Ivan, and Fritz) manage to sniff out the real thief, with the help of Ron's werewolf sense of smell, and one hilarious car chase later the money turns up, supposedly misplaced as an honest mistake, and all charges are dropped against Godzislaw. With no vacation time left, they return to Louisville KY, but not before stopping in Mayberry NC and enjoying a pie at a local diner
Hazzard County, the Duke Boys, and the General Lee are all elements from the television series THE DUKES OF HAZZARD (1979-1985). Jim Douglas and Herbie are from Disney's THE LOVE BUG (1968) franchise of movies and television series. Bo "Bandit" Darville is from SMOKEY AND THE BANDIT (1977) and its sequels. The community of Mayberry, North Carolina first appeared inTHE ANDY GRIFFITH SHOW (1960).August 1982--Massarati and the Brain--From Gordon Long: Very good! Wish I had been a fan of these shows during their heyday (other than The A-Team and The Dukes of Hazzard). The Streethawk connection is a good catch, and that Katherine Reece/Melanie Ryan/Adrienne Margeaux/Bianca Morgan/___ St. Clair are all the same person is inspired. There's another role that could have been her, played by the same actress. In Massarati and the Brain, a failed pilot, she plays one person who is masquerading as someone else. The idea of the series was that 'Mas' Massarati is a rich adventurer-for-hire who uses lots of electronic gadgets to do his work. The gadgets are built by his 12-year-old nephew, Christopher 'The Brain' Massarati (played by Peter Billingsley, Ralphie from A Christmas Story). They have a butler named Anatole played by Christopher Hewitt (Lawrence on Fantasy Island, and of course Mr. Belvedere) and are friends with a sexy spy leader played by Markie Post (Night Court). In this story, Mas and The Brain are trying to steal back an art collection from a neo-Nazi played by Christopher Lee. The actress plays Wilma Hines, who masquerades as Diana Meredith. You'll notice there's another character with a last name starting with M. (IMDB says it as a treasure of rare coins and the kid is 10, http://www.ovguide.com/movies_tv/mass...# gives the info I gave above). I have to admit I haven't seen Massarati and the Brain, just going from IMDB. But I do think it is interesting that Anatole and Lawrence didn't have other names, so one wonders if those two could be the same character. And prior to this, Hewett had a role as an unnamed butler in a 1979 ABC Afterschool Special. Robbie Rist is a spoiled rich kid whose tv suddenly shows 'Aunt Thelma' (played by the legendary Butterfly McQueen), a fairy godmothe/genier type who is going to teach him a lesson by giving him 7 wishes in order to impress a girl (played by Cynthia Nixon, most famous for her role on Sex and the City). The Seven Wishes Sweepstakes... I checked with my wife Kim, the world's foremost Fantasy Island fan, and Lawrence was never given another name (either first or last). So it is possible that Lawrence, Anatole, and the unnamed butler character are all conflatable as the same person, but I would really need to see both Massarati and the Brain as well as Seven Wishes of a Rich Kid to know for certain. Neither have been released to DVD yet.Seven Wishes of a Rich Kid was a sequel to an ABC Weekend Special, The Seven Wishes of Joanna Peabody, which aired the previous year. It also had Butterfly McQueen as Aunt Thelma and another adult played by Garrett Morris from Saturday Night Live. One IMDB reviewer thought it would have made an excellent Twilight Zone episode, high praise indeed! Apparently it was based on a book by Genevieve Gray. That episode HAS been released on dvd and is available at the Phoenix Learning Group, Inc., whose page states that it was part of the National Educational Film Festival. I have not, however, found any info about the book online.
1983--THE DUKES--An animated version of the show called The Dukes aired in 1983. The first season fell under the Coy and Vance era of the live-action show and thus they were adapted into animated form. By the second season, Bo and Luke had returned, and they replaced Coy and Vance in the cartoon. I feel the cartoon could fit. The season with the replacement cousins comes first in the cartoon, and they are racing around the world against Hogg and Roscoe. So I'm saying chronologically, this would take place prior the season 5 of the live action show which introduced the replacements. In the season where Bo and Luke are not there in Hazzard, it's because they were finally legally allowed to leave the county, and went back on the racing circuit. So the second season of the cartoon, with Bo and Luke, probably takes place just before they return to the live action series. If you really hate including the cartoon, it probably also fits in the Cartoon Universe, although I haven't yet found a crossover to place the Dukes in the Cartoon Universe for my upcoming Cartoon Crossover Encyclopedia.

KNIGHT RIDER (TELEVISION SERIES)SEASON 1 EPISODE 15 “GIVE ME LIBERTY… OR GIVE ME DEATH”Release Date: January 21, 1983 (Contemporary Setting)Horror Crosses: PsychoNon-Horror Crosses: Dukes of HazzardThe Story: MIchael enters K.I.T.T. into an alternative fuel race when it's suspected that the evil oil companies plan on sabotaging the event. Notes: Among the other competitors are two good old boys who drive an orange Dodge Charger and run moonshine. They are the Prince boys. Clearly this is a legal infringement free crossover with the Dukes of Hazzard. During the race, they drive past the Bates Motel.

AFTER THE SHOW-- The Dukes of Hazzard: Racing for Home (1999) The Dukes of Hazzard II: Daisy Dukes It Out (2000) The Dukes of Hazzard: Return of the General Lee (2004)
1987--SCOOBY-DOO MEETS THE BOO BROTHERS--Sorrell Booke voices the role of a bungling, southern sheriff, much like his character Boss Hogg on The Dukes of Hazard. This may take place earlier in the timeline because of the aging of Mystery Inc. in the TVCU. This could also exist in the Cartoon Universe in 1987 (where aging doesn't matter) but the Boss Hogg link is enough to make it onto a TVCU blog post, but not strong enough for the stricter standards I uphold for the Cartoon Crossover Encyclopedia.

1997--THE DUKES OF HAZZARD: REUNION!--Hazzard County is having a reunion festival, which includes a Toughman-style contest, and a rattlesnake chili cookoff, along with several other events. Uncle Jesse is the grand marshal of the reunion and at the same time, is facing a lawsuit filed by Mama Josephine Maxx for access across Duke property to the Hazzard swamp where she intends to build a theme park. However, Jesse refused access, not wanting to see the swamp destroyed. However, this has made the rest of the townsfolk angry with him, as the new theme park means new jobs, and revenue for Hazzard County.
2000--THE DUKES OF HAZZARD: HAZZARD IN HOLLYWOOD!--Hazzard in Hollywood follows up on the first reunion movie, The Dukes of Hazzard: Reunion! and begins with Bo and Luke Duke partaking in the Hazzard County festival which features actual country music star Toby Keith as himself. When an old enemy of the deceased J.D. Hogg, Ezra Bushmaster, arrives in Hazzard, he donates a significant amount of money to the hospital fund, on the condition that the people of Hazzard are able to raise the rest by a certain amount of time. A music promoter on vacation in Hazzard says he'll buy the master tapes of the performances of music stars who performed in Hazzard. So the Dukes decide to travel to Hollywood to sell some country music recordings to raise the rest of the money.
2000--Super Troopers--Five Vermont state troopers Get up to Wacky Hi-Jinks and even mange some police work
2005--HAZZARD COUNTY--In 2005, the Humana Festival of New American Plays premiered a full-length comedy-drama entitled Hazzard County by Allison Moore. The story centers on a young widowed mother and a visit she receives from a big city television producer. Interspersed with recollections of Bo, Luke, and Daisy, the play takes a deep look at southern "good ol' boy" culture and its popularization through the lens of American mass media.
Summer 2007--PHINEAS AND FERB (Episodes 1 - 104)--Phineas and Ferb are extremely intelligent 10 year old step brothers who constantly seek out a new adventure each afternoon of the summer. The fact that their parents are ignorant of the weirdness around them is an annoyance to their 15 year old sister. Meanwhile, their pet platypus is only pretending to be normal as he really is a secret agent, constantly thwarting an evil scientists plans every afternoon.
The brobots of "I, Brobot" originally appeared in an episode of The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius. Jimmy Neutron probably takes place in the Looniverse, though. Santa Claus is also in this episode. In The Magnificent Few" Dr Doofenshmirtz has sharks with a laser beam strapped to their heads. It seems he bought these from Dr. Evil. Or, worse, Doofenshmirtz and Dr. Evil have teamed up to take over the world!A movie theater in "Are You My Mummy?" is showing Monkeyman 2. Monkeyman was a movie seen on Hey Arnold! In "It's a Mud, Mud, Mud, Mud World" one of the Evil Investors is a convict from an episode of the Mr. Bean cartoon "Missing Teddy." Mr. Bean finally has a crossover! (Thanks to James for many of these crossover finds.) In "It's About Time" one of the museum exhibts is a time machine that looks shockingly like The Time Traveller's original time machine. http://phineasandferb.wikia.com/wiki/File:Showing_off_time_machine.png
It's probably not his original model, unless the museum tried to partly dismantle it so as to be inoperable, but it definitely follows his original design. Perhaps after he dismantled the original machine at the end of Stephen Baxter's The Time Ships, the Time Traveller built this as an impoved second model (even if it fails to look half as cool).

In the same episode, "It's About Time," a chair with rockets attached can be seen in the museum. This is a refernce to the Chinese legend of Wan Hu.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wan_Hu I don't know what to make of this one. In the episode "Tree to Get Ready" Town Hall and the Mayor both greatly resemble Mr. Mayor and Town Hall from Powerpuff Girls. We know Phineas and Ferb does not take place in the Looniverse, but in theTVCU; we've previously established Powerpuff Girls as being in the Looniverse.
Solution one: move the Powerpuff Girls into the TVCU, with "Townsville" being a codename for Danville. Solution two: assume that the Mr. Mayor and Town Hall of Phineas and Ferb have the same relation to the versions of Powerpuff Girls as the TVCU George Washington has to the various Looniverse Washingtons. In "Unfair Science Fair" a girl displays a work-harness that has four metal octopus arms. Perhaps she is the original Doctor Octopus' granddaughter or great niece. Phineas and Ferb build their own stargate.Phineas and Ferb already had the Necronomicon featured in the background of one episode. it was sitting on the bookshelf of the recurring mad scientist's study. Had nothing to do with the plot. Wasn't read or acknowledged, and most viewers likely didn't recognize it. But there it was. (It was even labeled.)Spaceballs - There is a suck/blow lever in Doof's lair, referencing Spaceballs. Frosty the Snowman - When Perry puts a hat on a snowman, it comes to life and walks in a random direction. This is what happens in the song and TV Special.[5]The Wilkins Brothers are played by the actors who played the Duke cousins in The Dukes of Hazzard. Geico - Candace states that she doesn't want to save money on car insurance, a reference to a series of commercials in which a person receives a phone call about saving money on car insurance.the two are seen running through a jungle of Venus Fly-Traps looking plants. These plants look like Audrey II from Little Shop of Horrors. The Incredibles - The ballpit boy who sees Agent P is similar to the boy who is always on a tricycle on the Parr's driveway. The 'Mr. Banana' company was based on the same company in Kim Possible, where Monique works.Club Penguin - The "missing agent," Gary the Gander, has the same name as a main character penguin, Gary the Gadget Guy, who also works with an elite spy organization, where he is also known as Agent G. Casino Royale - Agent P's stop at Monte Carlo features a game of Baccarat and background music in the style of the James Bond movies. At the end of a movie within an episode, the building in the background looks like the school from "Recess".Danville Canyon looks like Springfield Gorge from the Simpsons, also from the Road Runner cartoons. The name "Spinning Tops of Doom" is an allusion to the Disney Channel series Kim Possible. The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius - The cows poop nuts and bolts, like Goddard and there are similar robotic bulls in the episode Fowl Bull.Pele's Curse - Candace getting a curse from the necklace she found that causing her to have bad luck. The idol is also a reference to the Brady Bunch's Hawaiian Vacation (right down to the identical "theme music") where Bobby finds an idol that brings him bad luck, but he initially thinks it's a good luck charm.Peter Pan - When Doofenshmirtz is explaining to Perry why he was on Pink Unicorn Island, he says, "I wanted Skull Island right over there, but it was already booked ...." This is a reference to the island of the same name.Pippi Longstocking: - A girl resembling Pippi is in the group of humans during A-Prime Calypso. The only difference is she's wearing a green bathing-suit.Lilo and Stitch - The guy who lays on Candace when she's on the beach chair looks like the guy who drops his ice cream in Lilo and Stitch. The man has the same shades, and swim suit as him. Also, Candace's Hawaiian outfit looks similar to one of Lilo's dresses. Lilo and Stitch also live in Hawaii. The disturbance in the universe that Baljeet senses is a reference to the Force.During the Tree-Related Wish song, a bear can be seen sitting next to a tree and reading a newspaper. The bear is seen again during the end credits after Rusted, saying, "Yes. Yes, I do." The two appearances are a combination allusion to the "Charmin Bears" series of commercials for Charmin toilet paper and to the sarcastic/rhetorical question about what bears do in the woods. At the end of "Wizard of Odd", Isabella instructs Abraham Lincoln, Santa Claus, an astronaut and Pinocchio to follow the yellow sidewalk, among others.
2013--AUTO TRADER--John Schneider and Tom Wopat have recently been featured reprising their roles as Bo and Luke Duke in ads for Auto-Trader.com. Then The General Lee gets replaced in the commercial with the new generation version which is a 2013 Dodge Viper which is General Lee the 2nd.
April 2015--SUPERNATURAL--"Angel Heart"--Castiel tries to reconnect Claire with her mother who went missing, and calls Sam and Dean for help with the case. Sheriff at murder scene is Sheriff Coltrane. Relative? Not strong enough link for the Horror Crossover Encyclopedia, but a fun thing to include here on the website.

Get Smart!
Robert E. Wronski, Jr.: This is the most requested blog post subject to cover. I get millions of e-mails a day? Would you believe it? Millions.TVCU Crew: I find that pretty hard to believe.Robert E. Wronski, Jr.: Would you believe 100?TVCU Crew: I don't think so.Robert E. Wronski, Jr.: How about one request from Robert E. Wronski, Jr.?
So, this blog post. This post will be about Get Smart. I've already covered the Man from UNCLE, the Avengers, I Spy, Mission Impossible and the Prisoner. I think I've covered all the major spy stuff. I'm still unsure if I want to cover James Bond since the literary version trumps the film version in the TVCU, and I hate writing about literary stuff, because it means I have to read.
There is plenty of silliness in the TVCU naturally. Austin Powers exists in the TVCU. The Muppets exist in the TVCU. Jay and Silent Bob, Wayne's World, Scary Movie, the Pink Panther, Get Smart, ect. They are just sort of cartoonish because the TVCU isn't the real world.
1800s--F-TROOP--"Spy, Counterspy, Counter Counterspy"--An episode of F Troop called "Spy, Counterspy, Counter–counterspy" featured Pat Harrington Jr. imitating Don Adams as secret agent "B. Wise." This could be an ancestor of Maxwell Smart. I know this is a stretch, but this was my very first opportunity to link F-Troop, another of my favorites, to the TVCU.
Beginning of the 20th Century--CONTROL is a spy agency founded at the beginning of the 20th century by Harold Harmon Hargrade, a career officer in the United States Navy's N-2 (Intelligence) Branch. Hargrade served as the first Chief of CONTROL. "CONTROL" is not an acronym, but it is always shown in all capital letters as if it were. Admiral Harold Harmon Hargrade or The Admiral (William Schallert) is the former chief. He founded CONTROL as a spy agency just after the turn of the 20th century. The admiral has a poor memory, believing the current U.S. President is still Herbert Hoover. As a 91-year-old, he has bad balance and often falls over.

1904--KAOS is a (fictional) "international organization of evil" formed in Bucharest, Romania, in 1904; like "CONTROL", "KAOS" is not an acronym. They were supposed to be, but Brooks and Henry were so busy, they forgot to have the names stand for anything. In an episode of the series, after making a series of demands in a recording, the speaker mentions the demands are from "KAOS, a Delaware Corporation". When Smart asks the chief about this, he mentions they did it for tax reasons.

This can be set within the Cartoon Universe due to the inclusion of Boris and Natasha, the infamous foes of Moose and Squirrel. The other listed crossovers must also take place in the Cartoon Universe, even if they are from novels and live action film and television.
TALES OF THE SHADOWMEN VOLUME 2: GENTLEMEN OF THE NIGHT “BE SEEING YOU!” (SHORT STORY BY XAVIER MAUMEJEAN)Release Date: 2006 (Setting is 1912)Series: Tales of the ShadowmenHorror Crosses: Sar DubnotalNon-Horror Crosses: Sherlock Holmes; The Prisoner; Danger Man; L’Amerique des dollars et du crime; James Bond; Get Smart; Callan; The First Men in the Moon; Arsene Lupin; Fu ManchuThe Story: Sherlock Holmes finds himself a temporary captive of “the Village”.
Notes: Some crossoverists would discount the validity of this story for inclusion within their shared crossover universe because some details of Holmes’ history would invalidate this story. And for my Television Crossover Universe, I would agree. However, because Holmes is a non-horror character, only his original stories from Doyle and his horror crosses are valid canon, and so this story works easily for the canon of the Horror Universe version of Holmes.
1930--The exact date of CONTROL's founding is unknown but an approximate date of 1930 (the same year as Maxwell Smart's birthdate) can be inferred from the reference to the president by Admiral Hargrade, CONTROL's first chief, as "Herbert", suggesting that he had been used to working with President Herbert Hoover. [Episode #59: "A Man Called Smart, Part 2.] This seems to contradict other references that CONTROL was started at "the turn of the century", implying around 1900. Perhaps it began in 1900, but was redirected to the single purpose of opposing KAOS in 1930.
Fall 1930--GET SMART--"The Mess of Adrian Listenger"--Max was born in 1930 [Episode #130: "The Mess of Adrian Listenger"] and delivered by a Dr. Linquist. The exact date is unclear, but since his Zodiac sign is Scorpio, it must be between October 22nd and November 22nd. Max says he was "raised in the city" [Episode #88: "Snoopy Smart Vs. The Red Baron"] but which city is uncertain; he considers Washington, D.C. his home town [Episode #57: "Pussycats Galore"] but claims to be from Minnesota - although he gets the state motto wrong; the "show-me" state is Missouri [Episode #5: "Now You See Him, Now You Don't"] (To complicate matters further, in the first Get Smart novel he claims to be a "native New Yorker").

1940--Agent 99 has an even more mysterious past than Agent 86. Her exact birthdate is unknown but Max says he has "known 99 since she was 24" [Episode #89: "Closely Watched Planes"]. Calculating from a first meeting in 1965 gives a birth year of 1941. However, since the apparent Christmastime case at Bower's Department Store [Episode #4: "Our Man in Toyland"] cannot logically have taken place later than December 1964, it is likely that both events occurred at least a year earlier than usually thought. This theory is also consistent with Max' 1968 statement that they have worked together for five years [Episode #79: "99 Loses CONTROL"]. 99 tells Max that she was "raised in the country", presumably on hermother's property forty miles north of Twin Falls, Idaho. Her father is dead, but when alive he claimed to be a greeting card salesman, although he was really a spy [Episode #88: "Snoopy Smart Vs. The Red Baron"]. He also looked exactly like the KAOS Agent Simon the Likeable [Episode #120: "And Baby Makes Four, conclusion"]. Before becoming a spy, 99 worked as a high fashion model [Episode #29: "Shipment to Beirut"].
1950--DEAD MEN DON'T WEAR PLAID--Ivan Ronald Schablotski: The character played by clips of Bogart is Philip Marlow, so it is a crossover, as Andrew Brook pointed out. This movie establishes that Marlow, however briefly, had an assistant named Rigby Reardon. Placement of the movie is tough though, based on a newspaper clipping that suggests the Dodgers are already in LA. One of the first stories I planned to write specifically for the WNU was a crossover between Reardon and GET SMART's Agent Q (the Chief, back when he was a field agent), with the hint that one of them was Maxwell Smart's real father.
1950 to 1953--Smart served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and is an ensign in the U.S. Navy Reserve.

Likely after the war, but just less than a decade before season 1 of GET SMART--Fang/Agent K-13 (played by Red) is a poorly trained CONTROL dog, who is seen during seasons one and two. He was a very successful CONTROL agent for quite a few years. He was trained by Max, which probably explains why he does not always follow directions properly. Their relationship began in Spy School, where they were members of the same graduating class. He sometimes uses the cover name Morris and his favorite toys are a turtleneck sweater, a rubber ducky and one of Max's slippers. Fang's career ends in the second season, as he is no longer showing energy in solving his cases. In honor of his outstanding service to CONTROL, the Chief retires Fang to a desk job, burying evidence. Fang was written out of the series in season two. He appears in six season-one episodes and two season-two episodes. He appears first in the pilot, "Mr. Big", and his last one was the season-two episode "Perils in a Pet Shop". Shots that involved Fang ended up running long and costing the production a lot of money in overtime and wasted time. After a few episodes of this, he was written out of the series. He was handled by Bill Weatherwax.
1963--99 joined CONTROL just two weeks after Max, by which time Max had driven the Chief bald [Episode #60: "A Man Called Smart, Part 3"]. Her mentor in these early days was Agent 12 [TV Movie: "Get Smart, Again!"].
1963 to 1965--THE BILL DANA SHOW--Don Adams played Byron Glick, a hotel detective, on this show featuring the legendary crossover character Jose Jiminez. I feel that Adams was playing Smart, who was undercover at the time. (Or it could be Byron Glick was his real name and this was his real job before CONTROL. Perhaps Maxwell Smart is a false identity assigned by CONTROL.) Glick uses the famous "Would you believe..." joke that would later be a staple of Get Smart.
1965--A SECRET AGENT'S DILEMMA, OR A CLEAR CASE OF MIND OVER MATA HARI--Maxwell Smart hosts.

1965 to 1970--GET SMART--Click here for some of Toby O'Brien's connections regarding Get Smart. Also click here for Toby's take on Mr. Big. The Wikipedia page for the series has a surprisingly large amount of information about the agents of CONTROL and KAOS, which you can find here.

1965 to 1971--GREEN ACRES--An episode of Green Acres spoofed Get Smart with a shoe phone and Mission Impossible with a self-destructing note.
November 1965--GET SMART--"The Day Smart Turned Chicken"--The Chief (Edward Platt) is the head of CONTROL. Although sarcastic and grouchy, the Chief is intelligent, serious, and sensible. He began his career at CONTROL as "Agent Q." (He joined the organization back when they assigned letters rather than numbers.) He is supportive of Agents 86 and 99, but he is frustrated with Smart for his frequent failures and foul-ups. As revealed in the season-one episode "The Day Smart Turned Chicken", his first name is Thaddeus, but it is rarely used. His cover identity (used primarily with 99's mom) is "Harold Clark". Another time, when KAOS arranges for the Chief to be recalled to active duty in the U.S. Navy (as a common seaman with Smart as his commanding officer), his official name is John Doe.
1966 to 1967--DELL COMICS--Dell Comics published a comic book for eight issues during 1966 and 1967, drawn in part by Steve Ditko.
February 1966--GET SMART--"I'm Only Human"--Agent 8 (Burt Mustin) is a retired CONTROL agent who appears in episode twenty three. He is revealed to be the Chief's best friend from his days at CONTROL.
April 1966--GET SMART--"The Reluctant Redhead"--Grobnik the KAOS killer formerly worked for THRUSH, UNCLE's arch enemy.
April 1967--THE MONKEES--"Monkees Get Out More Dirt"--Mike uses a shoephone like Maxwell Smart's
November 1967--GET SMART--"Dr. Yes"--Doctor Yes (Donald Davis), who appears in "Dr. Yes," is a parody of James Bond's Doctor No. He asks questions to his four assistants and they each respond with "yes," individually in their language of origin. They answer mainly in the order of "Jawohl, Oui, Da, Si." He captures Max and 99 in this episode and accidentally inflicts suicide upon himself. When stung by an "electronic mosquito," he is killed by the poison "spoiler," his poisonous fingernail, when he scratches his face.
1968--This is the year Max proposes to and marries 99.
January 1968--THE PRISONER--"The Girl Who Was Death"--shoe brush phone
February 1968--GET SMART--"99 Loses Control"--99 tells Victor that her name is "Susan Hilton". When Max asks why she never told him what her real name was, she replies, "You never asked," to which Max says he prefers 99. Then, at the end of the episode, she says it is not her real name. Her name is in fact intentionally never revealed, even at their own wedding in season four.
1968--GET SMART--"Run, Robot, Run"--Two evil British agents are posing as Steed and Peel.
September 1968--GET SMART--"Snoopy Smart vs the Red Baron"--"Snoopy Smart vs the Red Baron" is the introduction of 99's mother (Jane Dulo), who appears so thoroughly fooled by her daughter and Smart's cover stories that not even seeing them in combat while a prisoner of KAOS convinces her otherwise. However, at one point her mother indicates that 99's father was also a spy.
October 1968--ROWAN & MARTIN'S LAUGH-IN--"Episode # 2.5"--graffiti visible on men's room wall: Agent 99 is only 26
1969--This is the year the twins are born, Zachary and an unnamed daughter.
November 1969--GET SMART--"And Baby Makes Four"--Simon the Likeable (Jack Gilford), who appears in "And Baby Makes 4" Parts 1 & 2 is a KAOS killer whose nice face mesmerizes everyone into liking him—except 99's mother (played by Jane Dulo), who knocks him out with a right cross, because Simon resembles her late, much-hated, and unlamented husband. (99's father never appears in any episode.)
Late 1960s--NOVELS--A series of novels based on characters and dialog of the series was written by William Johnston and published by Tempo Books in the late 1960s.

1960s--COMIC BOOK UNIVERSE BATTLES--Emma Peel vs. Agent 99!
1974--GET SMART, AGAIN!--After the deactivation of CONTROL in 1974 ["15 years ago" in Get Smart, Again!], Max is next seen working for PITS - the Provisional Intelligence Tactical Service.
1977 to 1987--THE LOVE BOAT--In one of Adams' five appearances as a guest passenger on the series The Love Boat , his character, even when he thought he had been shot, makes no attempt to visit the ship's doctor. The role of the doctor on Love Boat was played by Bernie Kopell, who played Siegfried on Get Smart.
1980--MURDER CAN HURT YOU!--Don Adams narrates in the manner of his character, Maxwell Smart
1980--WCGV--When WCGV/Milwaukee, Wisconsin signed on the air in 1980, Adams did in-house promos as Agent 86 to let viewers know when the reruns of Get Smart aired on the station by using his shoephone.
1980--THE NUDE BOMB--The theatrically released The Nude Bomb —also known as The Return of Maxwell Smart or Maxwell Smart and the Nude Bomb
1982--SAVEMART--In 1982, Adams starred in a series of local commercials for New York City electronics chain Savemart as Maxwell Smart. The slogan was "Get Smart. Get SaveMart Smart."
1983--GO FOR IT--David Huddleston uses a shoe phone like Maxwell Smart
1983 to 1986--INSPECTOR GADGET--Click here to learn about how this cartoon borrowed elements from GET SMART, THE PINK PANTHER, , DR. STRANGELOVE, MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE, FRANKENSTEIN, ROBOCOP, BUGS BUNNY, THE SIMPSONS, DONALD DUCK, and BACK TO THE FUTURE.
1985--DEAD END--zombie playing with shoe phone
Mid-1980s--SAVELINE--In the mid-1980s, Adams reprised his role of Maxwell Smart for a series of telephone banking commercials for Empire of America Federal Savings Bank in Buffalo, New York. The telephone banking service was called SmartLine, and Sherwin Greenberg Productions (a video production company and bank subsidiary) produced radio and television ads, as well as a series of still photos for use in promotional flyers that featured Don Adams' Maxwell Smart character wearing the familiar trenchcoat and holding a shoe phone to his ear. The television commercials were videotaped in Sherwin Greenberg Productions' studio on a set that resembled an old alleyway which utilized fog-making machinery for special effect. The production company even secured a lookalike of the red Alpine that Adams used in the television series, making it a memorable promotion for those familiar with the series of nearly 20 years earlier.
1987--BACK TO THE BEACH--Adams played the Harbor Master, who used several of Maxwell Smart's catch phrases (including an exchange in which Frankie Avalon's character did a vague impression of Siegfried).
1989--GET SMART--By 1989 Max and 99 are reunited, living in a house in the suburbs, and the twins are in college. Max has taken a job as a protocol officer with the State Department filling in for dignitaries who are unable or unwilling to attend ceremonial functions. But he never gives up wearing his shoephone and one day the call he had been hoping for finally comes: he is being recalled to active duty. KAOS is back and Maxwell Smart is the only one left with enough experience to combat their latest dastardly scheme. Rounding up as many of his old colleagues as he can muster, Max is able to reactivate CONTROL - at first on an ad hoc basis [TV Movie: "Get Smart, Again!"] and later more permanently as chief ["Get Smart 1995 series"].
February 1989--GET SMART, AGAIN!--99 mentions THRUSH in connection with Gruvnik the Spoiler
1989--MCDONALD'S--A whole bunch of characters show up at the fast food restaurant, including Grandpa Munster, Ed Clampett (Beverly Hillbillies), Maxwell Smart (Get Smart), Eddie Haskell and June Cleaver (Leave it to Beaver), and Gilligan (Gilligan's Island).
1989--KMART--Adams played Smart in a 1989 TV commercial for Kmart. He was seen talking on his trademark shoe phone, telling the Chief about the great selection of electronics available at Kmart. An exact replica of himself approaches him, and Smart says, "Don't tell me you're a double agent." (This was a reference to a running gag on the original series, in which Max detected some sort of setback or danger, and would say to 99, "Don't tell me..." and then 99 replied by stating a confirmation of whatever Max was afraid to hear, to which Max would always respond, "I asked you not to tell me that!")

Late 1980s--TOYOTA--In the late 1980s Adams portrayed Smart in a series of TV commercials for Toyota New Zealand, for the 1990 model Toyota Starlet. While it is customary for the actor to go to the foreign location for shooting, Adams' apparent intense dislike of long-distance flying meant that the New Zealand specification car had to be shipped to the US for filming.
1990s--As time passes, KAOS organises itself in a more business-like fashion, even making a profit on its operations [Episode #54: "The Expendable Agent"], and eventually becomes a takeover target; first by mogul Ironhand[Episode #114: "Ironhand"] and later by publisher Nicholas Dimente [TV Movie "Get Smart, Again!"]. In the nineties, the mysterious KAOS Chairwoman takes this to its logical conclusion and acknowledges the end of the Cold War by refocussing KAOS's goal of world domination on economic rather than political means ["Get Smart (1995 series)"], going so far as to rebrand the organization "Kaos Incorporated".
1991 to 1992--HI HONEY, I'M HOME!--From Lady Aleena: Many series have been linked because of the series Hi Honey, I'm Home!. Hi Honey, I'm Home! takes the characters out of their original continuities and places them into another. Since they are outside their original continuity, they are not the same characters. So the following do not cross with each other or anything above. Adventures of Superman The Donna Reed Show or Dennis The Menace though they did cross. The Many Loves of Dobie GillisHazelThe Munsters and its spin-offsMy Mother the CarGet Smart (The Man from U.N.C.L.E. Gets Smart)The Mary Tyler Moore Show (Mary Tyler Moore)Hello, Larry (All in the Families)The Cosby Show and its spin-off A Different WorldAll the following, while not contiguous with the above, are contiguous with each other starting with I Love Lucy .The Dick Van Dyke Show and Gomer Pyle, U.S.M.C. (Lucy Makes Room for Daddy)The Honeymooners and The Lucy Show (Lucy's Diagnosis)Leave it to Beaver (Leave It to Beaver to cross over)Mister Ed and The Brady Bunch (Hooterville)
1992--WHITE CASTLE--Adams starred in a series of commercials for White Castle in 1992, paying homage to his Get Smart character with his catch phrase "Would you believe...?"
1995--THE NEW GET SMART--Click here for Thom Holbrook's review of the New Get Smart and it's connection to the original series.
1999--AUSTIN POWERS: THE SPY WHO SHAGGED ME--"Spyography: The Doctor Evil Story"--One of the interviewees of this documentary is none other than "Konrad Siegfried, KAOS Operative, Retired." The presence of Siegfried in this biography of Austin Powers' nemesis, Doctor Evil, establishes that the events of the spy comedy, Get Smart, take place in the Television Crossover Universe. The "Spyography" can be found on the DVD release of Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me. For what it's worth, Madonna's music video for "Beautiful Stranger" features Austin Powers being briefed by his boss, Basil Exposition, on a mission to locate a beautiful seductress. Exposition warns Austin not to fall in love, and that British Intelligence has already lost 007 and 008. This connects Austin Powers to James Bond although of course the "loss" of 007 cannot be a permanent one.
Late 1990s--CANADA--Don Adams also appeared in another series of Canadian commercials in the late 1990s for a dial-around long distance carrier.

2008--GET SMART--In the Get Smart movie, during the opening scene, there is a wanted poster on Maxwell Smart's fridge that looks like Dr. Miguelito Loveless, or more importantly, Mr. Big, the head of CHAOS in the original series, more evidence that the remake is really a sequel. The three vehicles used in the original TV series opening are all in Max's escape scene. They are 1965 Sunbeam Tiger Mark I, Volkswagen Karmann Ghia Convertible, and 1969 Opel GT. Also, driving the Open GT is Bernie Kopell, who played Siegfried in the series. My theory: Yes, Get Smart (2008) could be in the TVCU-2, but there is a lot of implication in the film that the original series happened. I would like to say that this Max Smart is Max Smart Junior, but there's no evidence to support that. Max and 99 had twins, a boy and a girl, born in 1969. The boy was named Zachary, and was seen in the 1995 revival, and he just can't be the Max Smart seen here. Using a recent James Bond theory, though, perhaps Max Smart is an assigned name. The problem is that Max in this film is not yet an agent when the film starts. So that left me to look at the original Max's family tree. Max had an Uncle Abner and Aunt Bertha, and cousin Harvey. Their last name is not given, so it's possible that it is Smart. And it's possible that Harvey Smart had a son who he named after his cousin, who is the Maxwell Smart seen in this film. Of course, this doesn't account for all the other characters and such. I get that. But in this film, there are references to the original CONTROL of the 1960s, having been shut down following the end of the Cold War. (CONTROL did end in 1974, but was revived secretly in the 1990s.) And the original Sigfried also appears in the film, and lots of the old technology and vehicles from the original show. So I think it fits in the main timeline. But I can see the argument that it should be in the TVCU-2 instead.
2008--GET SMART'S BRUCE AND LLOYD OUT OF CONTROL--A spin-off of the Get Smart movie, centered on Bruce, a techie at CONTROL, and his nerdy analyst cohort, Lloyd.
THE UNNATURAL INQUIRER (NOVEL BY SIMON R. GREEN)Release Date: December 30, 2008 (Contemporary Setting)Series: NightsideHorror Crosses: Lovecraft’s Cthulhu Mythos; War of the Worlds (novel); Doctor Jekyll and Mister Hyde; Elvira; Doctor Strange; Doctor Druid; The Wicker Man; The Addams Family; The Mummy (Universal)Non-Horror Crosses: 2001: A Space Odyssey; Lassie; Doctor Who; Get Smart; James Bond; The Avengers (TV); Shadows Fall; Maltese Falcon; Star TrekThe Story: A man claims to have proof of the afterlife on DVD, and the Nightside’s top rag hires John Taylor to find him and the DVD.Notes: It’s not unusual for the Nightside stories to have Lovecraft references, and this one has at least five that my Nightside researcher John D. Lindsey Jr. has found. The character Harry Fabulous has access to the drug Martian Red Weed from War of the Worlds. He also has a version of the Hyde formula. This wouldn’t be the first story to see the Hyde formula as a street drug. In an old issue of the Inquirer is a story of Jacqueline Hyde, one of Henry’s descendants, who was in love with her male alter ego of Mister Hyde. In an interesting twist, the film Dr. Jekyll and Ms. Hyde features a male descendant of Jekyll who transforms into a beautiful but evil female Hyde. A personal ad in the Inquirer reads “Desperately Seeking Elvira”. Seen gathered in conference are the Travelling Doctor (Doctor Who), the Strange Doctor (Doctor Strange) and the Druid Doctor (Doctor Druid). “The Collector” has “the Wicker Man” with dead police officer inside. At the bar is a living active disembodied hand, most likely Thing from the Addams Family. A drink at the bar is Mummy’s Favorite, with tanna leaves as the main ingredient. Another old Inquirer article mentions the monoliths on the moon (from 2001: A Space Odyssey). The newspaper has a personal ad that reads “Lassie come home, or the kid gets it”. At a bar, Taylor compares a jukebox to the TARDIS. Three secret agents matching the descriptions of Maxwell Smart (Get Smart), James Bond, and John Steed (The Avengers) are seen comparing gadgets. There is a train that goes to Shadows Fall. Reporter Betty Devine wonders if “the Collector” has the Maltese Falcon. Also at the bar is what appears to be a tribble from Star Trek.

May 2013--WAREHOUSE 13--The Warehouse has CONTROL'S Cone of Silence.
2015--KINGSMAN: THE SECRET SERVICE--When Galahad is demonstrating the shoe knife to Eggsy he mentioned they used to have a phone in the heel, as a reference to the original 'Get Smart' TV series.
somewhere in time--SPACE QUEST IV: ROGER WILCO AND THE TIME RIPPERS--When using the Talk icon on the wastebasket in the Arcade store, it says "Max, is that you? Agent 99?".
31st Century--FUTURAMA--"In-A-Gadda Da-Leela"--the "Chamber of Understanding" is a parody of the "Cone of Silence"
ALTERNATE REALITIES:
CARTOON UNIVERSE: The Simpsons episode "Bart vs. Lisa vs. the Third Grade" parodies the opening of Get Smart in the couch gag. Homer goes through many futuristic doors and passageways until he reaches the phone booth, falls through the floor, and lands on the couch—with the rest of the family already seated. In the cartoon The X's one episode with Mr. X was a parody of both Get Smart, in that his shoe was a phone, and Mission Impossible , in that his shoe blew up after delivering a message.
EARTH-69 (AKA THE RULE 34 UNIVERSE)--I couldn't believe how many Get Smart parody porns were out there. Lickity Pink (1989) (Video)--Porn take-off of 1960's TV series spoofing spy shows. Get Lucky (2004) (Video)--Adult spoof. Get Luckier (2005) (Video)--Adult spoof. Get Smartass (2008) (Video)--Adult Spoof
NOT ANOTHER SPOOF MOVIE UNIVERSE--Disaster Movie (2008)--The theme plays as Calvin answers the shoe phone.
SKITLANDIA: Get Smart was parodied on a sketch in the Mexican comedy show De Nuez en Cuando called ["Super Agente 3.1486"], making fun of the Spanish title of the series (Super Agente 86) and the way the series is dubbed. An early MadTV sketch titled "Get Smarty" placed the Maxwell Smart character in situations from the film Get Shorty.

The Sinews of a Universe: Guillermo del Toro's Universe
“I cannot pontificate about it, but by the time I'm done, I will have done one movie, and it's all the movies I want…They're [all] tonally different, and yes, of course you can like one more than the other—the other one may seem banal or whatever it is that you don't like. But it really is part of the same movie. You make one movie.”
~Guillermo del Toro, Twitch Film, January 15, 2013 Guillermo del Toro has been very open about this. All of his stories are not only connected, but are scenes in a single, long movie. Characters, plot-lines, and props run between these scenes, establishing the outline of the story.
This article is only a guide for you to see the connective tissue.
Movies del Toro produced, but did not direct, are virtually excluded from this list. Only one connects into del Toro’s universe. The rest are irrelevant, and evidently not considered part of his overall story. We will not be discussing sequels, spin-offs, or tie-in media produced without del Toro’s explicit involvement. The timeline would grow too long, and too irrelevant. This isn’t to say that they are excluded from the TVCU. Mimic 2 and Mimic 3: Sentinel are canon in the TVCU, of course. Robert E. Wronski Jr has come up with a rather clever theory for explaining Blade and Blade II’s inclusion in the same universe as Tomb of Dracula, but you’ll have to read The Horror Crossover Encyclopedia to find out.
Similarly, we will not be discussing Tim Lebbon’s novel Hellboy: Natural Selection, which revealed Hellboy went up against the Mimic bugs. You should still listen to our interview with him. Who knows what else you might learn?
I offer very little commentary. Del Toro, by nature, reveals more of his universe as movies pass. Pan’s Labyrinth explains Mimic, and explains some magic from Hellboy. Pacific Rim closes the Hellboy story. Every new story ties off loose ends. Any explanation I offer now will only be partial. These films are only single chapters from a novel, or random scenes from a longer movie.
1887—Crimson Peak
Edith’s mother’s tomb is carved to represent the Death from Hellboy II. Del Toro has previously stated that particular Death is a unique reaper, created just to take Hellboy’s soul. How or why it appeared in the 1880s, long before his birth, is an open question. The ghosts are identical to the ghosts in The Devil’s Backbone, implying Crimson Peak and The Devil’s Backbone share a universe.
The ending of the movie implies the story, from start to finish, is fiction. If so, how the real Edith came to know of Hellboy’s Death and del Toro-type ghosts is an unanswerable question.
c. 1939—The Devil’s Backbone
No crossovers, but its presence in the Guillermo del Toro universe is confirmed by Hellboy, Pan’s Labyrinth, and Crimson Peak. Dating is based on Carlos and Jamie’s appearance in Pan’s Labyrinth; if the actors have aged five years in the real world, it stands to reason their characters have aged five years as well, in lieu of in-universe evidence.
1944—Pan’s Labyrinth
Carlos and Jamie, from The Devil’s Backbone, are among the Communist rebels. The labyrinth by the house has the same pattern as the magic blood maze that revived Rasputin in Hellboy. Given Ofelia’s resurrection, it is safe to assume that labyrinth had the same purpose as Rasputin’s—but she was revived to the fairy-kingdom by her own innocent blood. The fairies make the same sounds as the Judas Breed from Mimic.
Robert E. Wronski Jr. believes that Ofelia’s chalk door is a crossover with Beetlejuice. This seems likely.
1993—Chonos
No crossovers, but its presence in the Guillermo del Toro universe is confirmed by Blade II.
1997—Mimic
The Judas Breed and the fairies from Pan’s Labyrinth make the same sounds. In Pan’s Labyrinth, the fairies begin in the form of bugs and insects, but transform when around someone who believed, or were about their work. It seems the Judas Breed was bred from untransformed fairies—and all their mimicry is their genetic programming for transformation reasserting itself.
2002—Blade II
Scud wears a BPRD tee-shirt. I’d normally ignore this, but, considering how interconnected the rest of del Toro’s universe is, it seems meant as a crossover. BPRD, of course, is from Hellboy and Hellboy II. Presumably Scud and Blade worked with BPRD prior to the events of Blade II, since BPRD is a ultra-secret organization—and ultra-secret organizations aren’t given to handing tee-shirts out to the public.
Eli Damaskinos, an ancient vampire, shows the same pure-white skin discoloration and body markings as the vampires from Cronos. In Cronos, vampires appeared to be ordinary humans—if slightly pale—until wounds ripped away their skin and revealed the ivory hide below. It’s possible that all of the vampires in Blade II are Cronos-vampires, but never had the chance to “mature” and emerge from their cocoon. Whatever the case, Damaskinos himself is a crossover with Cronos.
2004—Hellboy
The jarred babies from The Devil’s Backboneare on display in the BPRD trophy hallway. The maze of blood which revives Rasputin is in the same pattern as the labyrinth in Pan’s Labyrinth. In the prologue, Nazis open a portal to the Ogdru Jahad’s crystal prison. This same crystal prison is seen in the background of Pacific Rim, when Gypsy Danger falls into the alternate universe (more on this later).
De Vermis Mysteriis is quoted. De Vermis Mysteriis first appeared in Robert Bloch’s story “The Shambler in the Stars” before reappearing regularly in H.P. Lovecraft’s own fiction. Sammael is referred to as a Class Five Entity. This designation originated in Ghostbusters(1984).
The Spear of Destiny prop would be reused in Constantine(2005). This is an alternate timeline; Constantinedoes not fit into the Guillermo del Toro universe nor the TVCU, which uses the original Vertigo John Constantine.
2008—Hellboy II: The Golden Army
Fairies from Pan’s Labyrinth run rampant in the Troll Market, and also kept in jars in the BPRD’s trophy hall.
Bethmoora is mentioned. Bethmoora first appeared in Lord Dunsany’s story “Bethmoora.” ”Glamours” are used. Glamours originated in Lord Dunsany’s novel The King of Elfland’s Daughter, and regularly appear in Simon R. Green’s Nightside. A theatre marquee advertises “See You Next n sday.” See You Next Wednesday appears all throughout the movies of John Landis. The Schufftein Glasses come from Daphne du Maurier’s short story “The Blue Lenses” (confirmed by del Toro’s commentary).
Elder Things shamble around the Troll Market. One is held in BPRD. While the Elder Things are from H.P. Lovecraft’s The Mountains of Madness, they appear here in what was a sort of early screen-test for del Toro’s adaption. I choose to count these as a crossover with Lovecraft’s novella.
2012—Rise of the Guardians
The tooth fairies live in hive-houses identical to the fairy houses in Hellboy II: The Golden Army. Rise of the Guardians, the movie, is a modern-day sequel to Rise of the Guardians, the books.
2025—Pacific Rim
At the climax, Gypsy Danger slips into the alternate universe from which the kaiju originated. The Serizawa Scale is used to determine kaiju size. Serizawa was a scientist in the original Godzilla. A version of the GLaDOS operating system runs on jagers. GLaDOS is from Portaland Portal 2, a video game series from Valve. The similarities between the two are evident. Gypsy Danger's explosion, one imagines, killed the Ogdru Jahad, permanently ending their threat. What implication this has, if any, on the rest of del Toro's timeline remains to be seen--especially if Pacific Rim proves to be an alternate timeline.

Teen Nick
[image error][image error]
So I did Disney, so now it's time for Nick.
January 1989--MAMA'S FAMILY--"Full House"--This episode reference FULL HOUSE. There are a log of Full House zonks to deal with in the TVCU. One might consider that Danny was a talk show host in San Francisco, Joey was a stand-up comedian, and Jessie was a professional musician. So between the three of them, they could have had enough moderate success that perhaps their unusual family dynamic became well known. Perhaps Wake UP San Francisco had a recurring segment on the show called "Full House" about the family's adventures. It wasn't unusual for the family to show up on the show. So between the three semi-famous careers of the men of the house, this could perhaps cover the zonks. Other shows that have had Full House zonks include: CLARISSA EXPLAINS IT ALL, HOME IMPROVEMENT, MARRIED WITH CHILDREN, MYSTERY SCIENCE THEATER 3000, THE LARRY SANDERS SHOW, BEAVIS AND BUTT-HEAD, BOY MEETS WORLD, THE CRITIC, THE NANNY, SOUTH PARK, LEISURE SUIT LARRY, ENTOURAGE, CHARMED, GILMORE GIRLS, HANNAH MONTANA, THE ANGRY VIDEO GAME NERD, ICARLY, FAMILY GUY, GETAWAY, GREEK, THE NOSTALGIA CRITIC, THE CINEMA SNOB, LAST MAN STANDING, AMERICAN DAD!, I HATE MY TEENAGE DAUGHTER, HOUSE M.D., GLEE, KENDRA ON TOP, NEW GIRL, STUDIO C, THE SIMPSONS, JAMES & MIKE PLAY, WORKAHOLICS, ACTION, and ROSEANNE.
March 1992--PARKER LEWIS CAN'T LOSE--"When Jerry Met Shelly"--Shelly has a Steve Urkel doll, supporting the notion that Urkel being a super-genius has made him a public figure. Other shows that mention Family Matters or Steve Urkel are BEAVIS AND BUTT-HEAD, MARRIED WITH CHILDREN, HANGIN' WITH MR. COOPER, THE SIMPSONS, MYSTERY SCIENCE THEATER 3000, FRIENDS, THE CRITIC, THE NANNY, MOESHA, KENAN & KEL, NEWSRADIO, SOUTH PARK, ACTION, ER, GILMORE GIRLS, MALCOLM IN THE MIDDLE, LEISURE SUIT LARRY, VERONICA MARS, NCIS, AMERICAN DAD!, FAMILY GUY, PSYCH, 30 ROCK, THE IRATE GAMER, THE ANGRY VIDEO GAME NERD, THE OFFICE, THE NOSTALGIA CRITIC, COMMUNITY, THE CLEVELAND SHOW, HELLCATS, SUPERNATURAL, THE GOOD GUYS, PARKS AND RECREATION, WORKAHOLICS, BETTER WITH YOU, NEW GIRL, BRICKLEBERRY, CINEMA SNOB, SUBURGATORY, and FLASH FORWARD.

1994 to 2005--ALL THAT--The first Nick show created by Dan Schneider. Dan Schneider links all his shows together by characters, fictional products, trends, slang, and other references. Click here for more on the links between the shows in his world, which is part of the larger TVCU. All of the shows linked by Dan Schneider's various crossover methods are All That, The Amanda Show, Drake & Josh, Zoey 101, iCarly, Victorious, and Sam & Cat. Penelope Taynt, played by Amanda Bynes, is a celebrity stalker that appeared on All That and the Amanda Show, as part of the sketches that featured cast members playing themselves in "backstage" segments.

1996 to 2000--KENAN & KEL--Spin-off of All That.

1997--GOOD BURGER--This movie is a spin-off of a sketch from All That.
1997--THE TONIGHT SHOW STARRING JIMMY FALLON--"James Spader/Andrew Rannells/Brian Regan"--Jimmy Fallon worked at Good Burger in a sketch flashback.
May 1998--SABRINA, THE TEENAGE WITCH--"Sabrina's Choice"--Kenan Thompson and Kel Mitchell appeared on the episode acting out (in a magic ball) what would happen if their characters on the show Kenan & Kel won the lottery.

1998 to 2001--COUSIN SKEETER--A boy's life is changed when his cousin moves in, who happens to be a puppet.
1999 to 2015--THE DAILY SHOW WITH JON STEWART--We've already established the Daily Show with Jon Stewart as part of the TVCU. As a fake news show, it borders between fiction and reality. It off course spun off the Colbert Report and the Nightly Show. It has had fictional characters from other series appear on the show, treated as being real. Additionally, Jon Stewart has appeared as himself in Space Ghost Coast to Coast, Mr. Show, the Larry Sanders Show, Dr. Katz, American Dad, Evan Almighty, The Simpsons, The Great Buck Howard, The Adjustment Bureau, The Beaver, and Big Time Rush. The Daily Show and the Colbert Report also did a crossover event with Conan. Stewart has also appeared as himself on various Muppet related projects, Saturday Night Live, WWE Wrestling, and numerous talk shows, award shows, news programs, and other specials.

1999 to 2002--THE AMANDA SHOW--Spin-off of All That.
September 1999--COUSIN SKEETER--"The Hoo, I'm Wild Wild West"--Kenan and Kel appear.

2004 to 2007--DRAKE & JOSH--The series is focused on a pair of stepbrothers who have opposite personalities.
January 2004--DRAKE & JOSH--"Dune Buggy"--An episode of the Amanda Show is on in the background. The Amanda Show is a sketch comedy, but the Amanda Show is a fictional show within a show as well, sort of how Saturday Night Live has fictional sketches featuring cast members as themselves on the show. Thus on the Amanda Show, Amanda Bynes plays a fictional version of herself who plays other fictional sketch characters. (Ow, my brain hurts now.)
November 2004--DRAKE & JOSH--"Honor Council"--Addie Singer from Unfabulous appears.

2005 to 2008--ZOEY 101--This show has many references to iCarly. The characters on this show are fans of the fictional iCarly web series.
2006--DRAKE & JOSH GO HOLLYWOOD--Josh's first assignment in his creative writing program is to write a typed report/paper about his greatest adventure. Meanwhile Drake and Josh's parents leave to go on a ten-day cruise, leaving Drake and Josh in charge. But when Drake and Josh accidentally reverse the flight number, sending her to Los Angeles International Airport (flight 647) instead of Denver. Her brothers find out the mistake and follow her on another plane. Upon arriving in Los Angeles, Megan uses her parents' credit card to order a limousine to take her to an expensive hotel and book a presidential suite. Before finding out, however, the brothers wait to see Megan's plane take off. When the brothers arrive in Los Angeles, they go out to find their sister and get her to Denver. At this moment, several criminals enter the suite and attempt to take the G-O. It's up to Drake and Josh to foil the bad guys, and get to the TRL studio in time.
2006--YO GABBA GABBA!--The movie that started it all!!! Or something.
August 2007--DRAKE & JOSH--"The Really Big Shrimp"--A flashback from The Amanda Show is used when Drake and Josh were fighting over the shrimp thrown by Penelope and Barney. This was intended as the series finale, but the final three episodes did not air in order.

April 2009--ER--"And in the End..."--Dr Brenner says: "What's with the iCarly crowd out in the waiting room?"

Jinxes are a real phenomenon in the TVCU. Stacey reappears in later iCarly episodes "iStart a Fan War" and "iHire and Idiot".
November 2009--ICARLY--A video game based on the series.

February 2011--VICTORIOUS--"The Wood"--There are many references to iCarly in this episode.
February 2011--BIG TIME RUSH--"Big Time Beach Party"--Patchy the Pirate (from the live action segments of Spongebob Squarepants) appears. You know, the "Are you ready kids?" guy. Those have been shown to exist within the same world as Spongebob, so Spongebob does exist in the TVCU. This connects to Nicktoons (Spongebob Squarepants, Jimmy Neutron, Planet Sheen, The Fairly OddParents, Danny Phantom, Ned's Declassified School Survival Guide, and Back at the Barnyard), implying that all those cartoons are part of the TVCU. I cover Spongebob in a separate post. For more on Nicktoons, you'll have to await the release of the Cartoon Crossover Encyclopedia, in progress.
March 2011--ICARLY--"iPity the Nevel"--Perhaps not the first appearance of Pear Products, but in the "fun facts" for this episode, creator Dan Schneider talks about how Pear Products, the stand-in for Apple, are only owned by the "good guys" on his shows. March 2012--VICTORIOUS--"April Fools Blank"--Mr. Belding appears, thus creating a solid link between the Disney shows and the Nick shows. Victorious, as I'll cover in a later blog, of course connects to iCarley and Sam & Cat. Note that this is a April Fools Day intentional bloopers show, so not everything in this episode is cannon. For instance, one character walks off of the Victorious set and onto the iCarly set, saying hi to Spencer during this episode, breaking the fourth wall. Dancing lobsters frequently appear at random throughout the episode
March 2012--AMERICAN DAD!--"Less Money, Mo' Problems"--Kel's Good Burger is a reference to the film Good Burger as well as actor Kel Mitchell who starred in the film.

2013--MAXWELL--Drake & Josh appear.
May 2013--BIG TIME RUSH--"Big Time Cameo"--Big Time Rush meets the characters from Yo Gabba Gabba. They meet backstage, but the characters don't break character, implying that those characters really exist in the same realty.

Perhaps Wake UP San Francisco had a recurring segment on the show called "Full House" about the family's adventures. It wasn't unusual for the family to show up on the show.

Victorious, as I'll cover in a later blog, of course connects to iCarley and Sam & Cat. Note that this is a April Fools Day intentional bloopers show, so not everything in this episode is cannon. TVCU 52
TVCU-29-Skitlandia and non-canon commercials. The setting for the Brady Bunch spook sketch from the AMANDA SHOW episode "When Bradys Attack".
TVCU- 38-A world with a secret history of heroes, monsters, and other things beyond what we see outside our window. Perhaps it should be noted that elements as disparate as the Abbott and Costello films, "Gilligan's Island," "Hogan's Heroes," and Scooby Doo have been included in the "consensus" WNU via legitimate crossovers with established WNU alumni. I personally have made cases for wolding Nickelodeon shows such as "Drake and Josh," "Zoey 101," and "iCarly," as each of those shows have elements that would, IMO, fit in the "consensus" WNU schema. I have also personally brought in "The Brady Bunch," including keeping elements from their animated spin-off series, "The Brady Kids," as an important part of their WNU iteration. It should also be noted that in Win Scott Eckert's two volumes of CROSSOVERS (simply replacing the 'WNU' appellation with the Crossover Universe), his set of inclusion is cast far and wide, having no problem with including the likes of Josie and the Pussycats. --Chris N

WIZARD OF WAZZ--This is the setting of the non-canon episode of Victorious entitled "April Fools' Blank". Victorious is in the Televison Crossover Universe. Eventually I will cover the show in a Nick Teen Blog. But this episode was an April Fool's Day prank that was completely nonsensical. See the video here.
CARTOON MULTIVERSE
MAD UNIVERSE--Versions of iCarly, Victorious, Sam & Cat, Yo Gabba Gabba, Big Time Rush and the Fresh Beat Band exist in this reality.
ROBOT CHICKEN UNIVERSE--Versions of iCarly and Zoey 101 exist in this reality.

Thus on the Amanda Show, Amanda Bynes plays a fictional version of herself who plays other fictional sketch characters. (Ow, my brain hurts now.)
November 2004--DRAKE & JOSH--"Honor Council"--Addie Singer from Unfabulous appears.
