(May 21, 2025) - Today, Yaya Bey shares new single and music video “raisins”. The final offering ahead of her forthcoming new album do it afraid, out June 20th via drink sum wtr, this new single embodies the anchoring sentiment of the album. Produced by the Grammy-nominated DJ Harrison (Steve Arrington, Pink Siifu, Joyce Wrice), “raisins” expresses the bravery that it takes to dream, and succeed, in the face of the sobering realities of a career as an artist.
“It’s hard to sum up ‘raisins in a small burb but it’s the pursuit of love, joy and freedom with the full knowing that there will also be pain,” Yaya says of the song. “It’s a surrender. It’s me giving myself permission to dream. It might not happen. But maybe the real joy is not in the materialization but in the dreaming itself. The name is inspired by a Langston Hughes poem called Harlem where he says ‘What happens to a dream deferred? Does it dry up like a raisin in the sun?’”
Following a hometown set at Governor’s Ball Festival next month in NYC, Yaya will take the album on tour in September across the East & West Coasts, concluding on September 27th at the Lodge Room in LA. Remaining tickets for Yaya’s tour are available now HERE.
Do it afraid’s power rests in its pleasures, embracing life as it comes and finding peace in the power of human movement and connection. More than ever Yaya’s journey to finding peace in that duality has led her to do it afraid, a collection of resolutely fun, full-hearted and clear-eyed songs that draw from R&B, hip-hop jazz, soul and dance music. On the album, Yaya worked with a wider cast of co-producers including BADBADNOTGOOD, Exaktly and Virginia musical collective Butcher Brown, with additional guest features from Rahrah Gabor, Nigel Hall, and others.
Yaya has steadily risen as one of the most important voices in R&B, finding a true breakout with her beloved 2022 album Remember Your North Star. Her subsequent full-length followup Ten Fold, which was a wholehearted showcase of all of the various nuances that make her the artist she is, was awarded Pitchfork's Best New Album in a glowing review. Ten Fold was also praised by the likes of Elle, ESSENCE, and Paste Magazine, who described the album as "Bey's most liberating music to date." Yaya also performed a stunning Tiny Desk concert last Spring, which NPR described as “truly healing to experience” and noting “Not a dry eye was left in the building.”
Check out “raisins”, and pre-save do it afraid above, see below for Yaya’s full run of headlining tour dates and the do it afraid tracklist & cover artwork, and stay tuned for more from Yaya Bey.

David Franklin Courtright today has announced his debut LP Brutal Tenderness, out August 8th via TODO Records. To coincide with the announcement, he has also shared his serene, beautifully stripped-back single "Boy."
"I wrote 'Boy' a few months after I moved to Los Angeles in early 2019. I met this boy that I had really intense feelings for and on our second date I was so nervous (and made the mistake of getting stoned) that I was so in my head I could barely participate in the date," Courtright explains. "I even had to go to his bathroom and like give myself a pep talk in the mirror. This song came out of that feeling of panic, being so in your own head that you don’t know who you are around someone or think maybe the person that you truly are won’t be lovable or attractive. It’s an ode to being a shy guy and all the feels that come with falling in love."
Brutal Tenderness, taken from a line in Frank O’Hara’s poem “River,” is the debut album of David Franklin Courtright. It is a work about radical tenderness and joy in the face of sadness, loss, and fear. Written and recorded over a span of eight years and three continents, the work seeks to explore the seemingly opposing forces (or bipolarity) of brutality and tenderness, to guide the listener through a deep-hearted journey of love and grief, of fractures and healing. It is a kaleidoscope of emotional and kinetic soundscapes.
Brutal Tenderness is a process of reckoning with a life as a queer boy who couldn’t pass and was never allowed to hide, of setting free that gleefully expressive cartwheeling child who was put into hiding, locked beneath a veneer of false masculinity, and entombed in a character to avoid persecution. It is a triumphant and harrowing reclamation.
The new record is a love poem to that child-self, and to the person today who can exist in these realms of sadness without the compulsion to run from them or bury or hide them from the world, and in that patient practice, can touch and inhabit and know those sadnesses while being able to also know and touch and inhabit joy, and love, and inner peace.
"Boy" by David Franklin Courtright is out today via TODO.

Today, influential Los Angeles psychedelic punk rockers Frankie and the Witch Fingers have shared “Gutter Priestess,” the last single before the release of their new album Trash Classic (June 6, 2025 // The Reverberation Appreciation Society / Greenway Records). In lieu of a music video, the band partnered with FolksPat Media to release a fully-playable “Gutter Priestess” video game – try it HERE. The creators of the free-to-play browser game have also contributed to titles like Alien: Rogue Incursion, Creed: Rise to Glory VR, Dead by Daylight, Lord of the Rings: War in the North, and more.

“‘Gutter Priestess’ felt filthy from the get,” the band’s Dylan Sizemore says. “I was hooked up to Burroughs and his junk-sick energy, romanticizing my own bad decisions and dark thoughts, cutting up lyrics, letting meaning rearrange itself. The whole thing turned into a brown, sharded nightmare but with a seductive dancey pulse.
When we went to record it, everyone leaned into the crust. The parts feel barbed and sharp - like they crawled out of a drainpipe with glass in their gums. Hopefully the lighter synth lines in the chorus add a sugary sweetness to all the rot and decay.”
The white-hot demand to see the band live knows no bounds, and has since carried over to the intimate album release shows they announced in London, New York City, and Los Angeles – all three have sold out. See below for more information on these shows, as well as their other headline world tour dates.

Hooks so infectious they rot on impact. Trash Classic marks a feral mutation for Frankie and the Witch Fingers—a record that snarls with proto-punk venom, angular melodies, and electronic textures that cough and sputter like dying neon lights under a poisoned sky.
This record pushes the Witch Fingers’ sound to a razor's edge. Wiry and twitching, it bends into synth-punk and fractured new wave, with fragments of industrial grime caked under its nails. Guitars detonate and slice like cinder blocks through glass, while gnashing basslines slither through the sludge, alive and seething. Buzzy synths take the forefront, driving relentless rhythms that crack and pop, drenched in a chemically saturated sheen—part bug-eyed speed-freak pogo, part dance-floor delirium. The vocals cut through like static-laced transmissions—balancing both smirk and sneer—layering playful unease over themes of escapism, decay, and overindulgence.
The songs were born in the grime of Vernon, Los Angeles—a wasteland littered with gutted RVs and rusting machinery, where the air tastes like asphalt and dog food. But the real alchemy happened in Oakland, at Tiny Telephone Studio, where producer Maryam Qudus (La Luz, Spacemoth) helped transmute the tracks into their final forms. Unhinged tones, unconventional recording experiments, and wild sonic detours transformed the songs into something alive and unpredictable.
Every day of recording began with cartoons blaring at full volume—a Looney Tunes ritual that turned the madness of the recording process into something child-like. Late at night, sugar-fueled candy binges kept the energy spiking, pushing the sessions into a fever dream of jittery, spastic playfulness.
The result is a raw, twisted monument to rot and excess—toxic glamour and nihilistic salvation. Trash Classic isn’t just a record; it’s an auditory dumpster bible—a gutter gospel for those ready to dive into its filth.
About Frankie and the Witch Fingers
Los Angeles psych-punk shapeshifters Frankie and the Witch Fingers have spent the last decade mutating their sound into bold, electrifying new forms. Their latest release, Trash Classic (via Greenway Records and The Reverberation Appreciation Society), plunges into a sewer-slick fusion of proto-punk venom, fractured new wave, and industrial grime. Brimming with wiry synths, angular melodies, and grooves that squirm and bite, it’s all delivered with a sly, playful wink. Fueled by relentless global touring and a fierce DIY ethos, the band has shared stages with OFF!, Ty Segall, Oh Sees, Cheap Trick, and ZZ Top, cementing their place as one of the most unforgettable live acts around. Frankie and the Witch Fingers continue to morph, dragging listeners into whatever warped direction their experimental journey takes next.

(May 20, 2025) - Today, Stereolab share “Transmuted Matter”, the final single ahead of the release of the group’s first album in 15 years - Instant Holograms On Metal Film, this Friday. The album was announced 15 years to the day after Stereolab announced they were going on hiatus back in 2010.
Speaking on the album’s creation, Tim Gane says: “The idea to record a new LP came into focus around spring/summer 2023 and we started recording in January 2024. There were no rehearsals, as usual. We started again from scratch. “Always a beginner” is my attitude to things, just feeling my way through. Music is just an exciting adventure and I don’t have any trepidation about doing it or presenting it to others. What comes out comes out.” Laetitia Sadier adds: “I see everything as a continuum with no determined sections, that bears no relation to what has come before or will come after. In the case of Stereolab, Tim is primary composer. On this LP, I did, however, have much more musical input than before. And indeed I had had some practice through developing my own music over the past years, which surely nourished the sound and general configuration.”
To celebrate the album’s release, Stereolab will be holding listening events at select retailers around the world on release day, with a limited number of value-add exclusives available at each, comprised of:
1 - A Button/Pin/Badge featuring art based on the cover of Instant Holograms On Metal Film
2 - A two-sided print with Instant Holograms On Metal Film / Catalog titles on the back.
3 - A Stereolab logo sticker.
Instant Holograms On Metal Film is co-released by the band’s own label Duophonic UHF Disks, and Warp Records. Featuring thirteen songs written by Laetitia Sadier and Tim Gane; performed by Laetitia, Tim, Andy Ramsay, Joe Watson and Xavi Muñoz, who comprise the current touring line-up of the band and guest contributions by Cooper Crain and Rob Frye (Bitchin Bajas), Ben LaMar Gay (International Anthem), Ric Elsworth, Holger Zapf (Cavern Of Anti-Matter), Marie Merlet and Molly Hansen Read.
On working with Cooper Crain, Tim comments: “I’m a big fan of Bitchin’ Bajas and we had toured with then in the US in 2019 so got to know them well. When we decided to make a new record, he was the only person I had in mind and luckily he could do it. Just like (previous collaborators) John McEntire and Jim O’Rourke, he is an inventive musician as well as a great engineer/producer, and that’s what we like.”
In terms of the subject matter, lyric writer Laetitia summarises: “As the world falls apart, whether we are aware of it or not, we are already planting the seeds of what will come next. I think it is important to keep in sight what powerful creators we are, and how there is power available to us at this stage to choose what outcome we would like to see for this yet undefined future. The words seek to expose that this is what we do: we create. Our imagination is here to serve that purpose, and is the power we have to choose whatever it is we want to see come about. Some privileged people do not like the idea of sharing this power with the people at large.”

Global Listening Events

Global Listening Event Value Adds
Ahead of the album’s official announcement, some fans of the band received a package stamped “unsolicited Stereolab material”. Inside was a 7” single containing “Aerial Troubles” on one side, an instrumental version on the flip, with a cryptic wordsearch insert. At the same time, posters with the band’s name appeared in a number of major cities with the same word grid printed on. Several attempts had been made to solve the wordsearch, with much online speculation about how the words go together, and whether the single did indeed contain new music, or something uncovered from the band’s archives.

And in lieu of a description of the music, the band are inviting fans, detractors, and journalists alike to provide their own adjectives on a fill-in-the-blanks sheet.

Alongside “Melodie Is A Wound”, the group released a cryptic crossword puzzle compiled by Alan Connor, who works as the crossword editor for The Guardian and sets the cryptic crossword for The Observer, has been question editor for TV shows House Of Games and Only Connect, and is the author of books including 188 Words For Rain. Alan is also a fan of Stereolab:
“Writing this puzzle I felt an unfamiliar sensation, at first in my knees. A recovered memory of Stereolab in a venue which sent the groop's noise bursts - bass? sub-bass? whatever might be under that? - directly inside each of us in the crowd, reshaping us in wonderful ways. No one else has done that, but then no one else has done the alchemic things Stereolab has done. Happily for me, this is a band fond of titles which read just like fragments of cryptic clues. So long, that is, as your brain has been suitably warped by puzzles. Happily, mine has been warped this way - as well as my body by Stereolab. Thank you for the warping, thank you Warp and thank you Stereolab. By the way, I sincerely believe that anyone in public life would do public life better if they listened to Emperor Tomato Ketchup's “Tomorrow Is Already Here” a few times. What was then the future has borne out that one plenty.

The album art was first slowly revealed on the Lab Report sign-up page of the band’s website, with different layers gradually appearing. The 7” started landing with people on 2nd April 2025, sixteen years to the day after the group announced they were going on indefinite hiatus. In 2019, the band released expanded and remastered editions of seven of their studio albums, coinciding with Stereolab playing live for the first time in nine years. They have continued to tour sporadically since then, and have augmented their catalogue further with the release of the compilations Electrically Possessed [Switched On Vol 4] in 2021, and Pulse Of The Early Brain [Switched On Vol 5] in 2022.

Passion Pit began as the solo project of singer-songwriter-producer Michael Angelakos. Michael would create music alone in his dorm room in Boston, and then in an apartment in Cambridge where he lived with four other friends in 2006. The songs would be shown to his roommates and friends. Angelakos self-released the Chunk of Change EP, which included the songs “Batty Lashes” and “Tons of Guns,” and sold them for approximately seven dollars at his first show on March 20th, 2007 in the Cabaret at Emerson College. Unfortunately for the few purchasers of the EP, Angelakos had hastily applied a sticker that was meant to be used to label folders, not cds. The rectangular sticker damaged several customers’ computers, but none of them asked for money to repair the computer. He did, however, give them a new disc. He still owes his friend Colin Pratt approximately $250 for the printing and overnighting of the record sleeves.
Ian Hultquist and Adam Lavinsky, who at the time were Angelakos’ friends and frequent collaborators, spent months convincing him to make a band. Months later, he acquiesced, and the band went on to sell out every show they played in Boston. Hultquist, Ayad Al Adhamy, Jeff Apruzzese, And Nate Donmoyer joined Michael as Passion Pit for live performances from there on out. They were named Best New Band by the Boston Phoenix, released a 7” featuring “Sleepyhead” and “Better Things,” (which would replace “Batty Lashes and “Tons of Guns” on the official release of Chunk of Change), and toured with far too much heavy equipment. And little discipline, to boot.
Following the 7” release, in 2008, and after being picked up by Frenchkiss, Chunk of Change was officially released. This release, and its hit "Sleepyhead," solidified Passion Pit and launched the band into years of success and near-constant evolution. “Sleepyhead” has remained an iconic track, going 3x Platinum; a Passion Pit x Sofi Tukker remix of the song was released in March of 2025 to instant success.
In the spring and early summer of 2008, while working on demos for what would become Passion Pit’s debut album Manners with Grant Wheeler, Matthew Young, and Angelica Bess in Brooklyn--and a three-week Piano’s residency in Manhattan--Michael signed to Sony Music Entertainment for worldwide and Columbia Records for US releases respectively for three full-length records as Passion Pit. The licensing of the initially self-released Chunk of Change gave Michael extraordinary leverage and creative control while working with Sony.
Passion Pit released Manners on his birthday on May 19th in 2009. It sold over 30,000 copies in the first week. With a rapidly-increasing live following, leading to three Terminal Five shows, being a highlighted band on the Big Day Out Tour in Australia and New Zealand (where Manners went gold in its first week), and to what many have considered to be among one of the most iconic sunset-slot performances at Coachella in 2010, the band toured for what seemed like forever.
The follow-up, Gossamer, was released in 2012 and landed number four on the Billboard charts in the US, as well as Top 20 in Australia and Canada. Michael and his tumultuous in both his life leading up to and in making Gossamer were painfully portrayed in Pitchfork’s first Cover Story feature by Larry Fitzmaurice. While he was interviewed at a time when he was unwell and doesn’t reflect who he truly is, it was the first time Angelakos opened up about his life with the disorder. His advocacy would later earn him the Didi Hirsch Erasing the Stigma Award in 2013.
“Take A Walk”, Gossamer’s standout single well over 2x platinum and the album itself was officially reported as Gold in 2020. The music video for “Carried Away,” directed by Brewer was a highlight for Michael, as well as the video for “Cry Like a Ghost” directed by the Daniels (The Zebro theme song, a bonus on the EPs in physical form, was form a comedy troupe that included Daniel Schienert, who had Michael score a few projects of his while they both attended Emerson).
Passion Pit's third album, Kindred, was released in April 2015, landing in the Top 3 in the U.S., and top 30 in Australia and the UK.
Throughout his success and creative evolution as an artist, Angelakos faced the challenges of managing bipolar disorder (or Manic-Depression) amidst a chaotic and taxing industry that any artist, with or without a mental disability, typically finds just as difficult. He became, and continues to be, a leading mental health advocate and dedicates much of his energy to helping others. In 2017, he formed the Wishart Group, an organization created to provide support for musicians’ mental health. Also in 2017, Passion Pit released Tremendous Sea of Love for free via Twitter with the hashtag #weneedscience, to raise awareness for the Wishart Group– a viral campaign that trended worldwide.
Currently, Michael Angelakos is returning to how it all began: working and performing solo, experimenting with his sound and staying true to himself, while challenging conventions and outmolded structures. To that end, Passion Pit’s latest album, Nine Times Your Torch Song, will be released in iterative phases, and through unique recordings of live performances with additional collaborators, directly to fans. EXPERIMENTAL MUSIC PIONEER GARY WILSON RETURNS WITH NEW ALBUM AND A FRESH WEALTH OF WEIRDNESS

Los Angeles, California: In the years since his emergence with 1977’s cult classic You Think You Really Know Me, iconic underground hero Gary Wilson’s outsider pop sensibility has spawned a devout following that includes the likes of Beck (who name-checks Wilson on “Where It’s At”) and hip hop collective Odd Future!
Now, with his latest album Come On, Mary due to street on June 13, the Endicott, NY, legend unveils the title track as both his new single and a positively trippy video, both telling the story of Mary herself.
And what a story it is! “Mary lived not far from Endicott,” explains Wilson. “In a place called outer space. In the summer Mary would take the bus and visit me. I still dream of Mary”.
VIDEO: https://youtu.be/ZA6jMIGqKrE
SINGLE: https://orcd.co/garywilson_comeonmarysingle
Come On, Mary itself packs 11 all original new songs, each one furthering Wilson's trademark blurring of the line between the bizarre and the heartfelt, and offering some of his more strangely catchy and emotional songs to date!
And Mary herself is a tangible presence throughout the song cycle, from “Alone in Endicott” to “Mary, Won’t You Dance For Me,” and on to the magnificent finale “I Woke Up Into A Thousand Dreams.”

Track list
1. Lisa Wants To Talk To You
2. Feel The Breeze
3. Alone In Endicott

5. As I Walk In The Night

Charlotte de Witte unveils New Single feat. XSALT - Out May 29th

Charlotte de Witte’s unrelenting single ‘No Division’ featuring XSALT drops digitally on May 29th while she plays six NYC shows in four days – with different DJ sets across venues from small and intimate to big and uncompromising. The vinyl version (including the Original Mix and Instrumental Mix as a B-side) gets an early release and will be on sale at the shows.
Why the NYC connection? Says de Witte: ‘Launching this single while I’m in New York feels symbolic. There’s something about the city, its chaos, its diversity, its constant movement, that perfectly mirrors the spirit of ‘No Division’. It’s a place where differences collide and coexist.’
‘No Division’ is the second single from Charlotte’s eponymous long-awaited debut album (out November 7th). ‘This track is another chapter of my upcoming album, and like the others, it reflects a part of who I am. ‘No Division’ is both a call and a celebration. It’s a reminder of what’s possible when we lose ourselves in the music and come together on the same frequency. It reminds us that we are one.’
‘No Division’: Brimming with an overwhelming, penetrating techno power, this track demands our full attention, with spacey hoover sounds, piercingly hooky main theme, a classic organ sound and hissy robotic spoken vocal lyrics like ‘…cut the wire/break the system/fight the fire/no division…’ It’s a manifesto you can dance to. Charlotte de Witte has an agenda as well as making a killer track; ‘‘No Division’ comes from a place of unity and the understanding that when we come together through music, the barriers between us start to dissolve. It’s about erasing the invisible lines that separate us, whether cultural, emotional, or personal.’
XSALT was previously sampled by de Witte on her tracks ‘Overdrive’, ‘High Street’, ‘Roar’ and ‘How You Move’. Here he provides exclusive vocals for her for the first time.

(May 7, 2025) – TURNSTILE have shared “LOOK OUT FOR ME,” a new song from their eagerly awaited album NEVER ENOUGH, which is set to arrive on June 6th. Available today across all streaming platforms, “LOOK OUT FOR ME” arrives with a music video directed by the band’s own Brendan Yates and Pat McCrory - watch it HERE.
The “LOOK OUT FOR ME” music video is included in TURNSTILE: NEVER ENOUGH, a 14-song visual album which serves as a stirring counterpart to the forthcoming LP. Announced earlier this month, the film is directed by Yates and McCrory, and is set to make its world premiere as an official selection at New York’s Tribeca Festival 2025 on June 5th. An official trailer for TURNSTILE: NEVER ENOUGH, along with dates and ticketing information for upcoming screenings at Tribeca Festival 2025 can be found HERE.
Recorded between Los Angeles and their homes in Baltimore, NEVER ENOUGH is produced by TURNSTILE’s Brendan Yates. The expansive collection is a restless and exhilarating evolution of the band’s genre-defying sound. A transformative journey, both fearless and alive, by one of the most forward-thinking and influential bands of their generation. The highly anticipated collection is led by the album’s title track and double single “SEEIN’ STARS” / “BIRDS”, and marks the band’s first new album since 2021’s GLOW ON, which earned the band four GRAMMY nominations. NEVER ENOUGH is available for pre-order / pre-save, with several limited edition vinyl color variants available in the band’s store.
TURNSTILE recently wrapped a pair of sold-out west coast dates at Los Angeles’ Ukrainian Cultural Center and Oxnard’s Elks Lodge. The two night stand followed TURNSTILE’s historic hometown show at Baltimore’s Wyman Park Dell, which drew over 10,000 attendees and raised upwards of $50,000.00 to benefit the local non-profit organization Healthcare for the Homeless. The band’s previously announced New York record release show is set to happen on June 5th at Under The K Bridge in Brooklyn, NY, and will see them joined by special guests Teezo Touchdown, Boy Harsher, and Big Boy. The band will then head overseas for a run of European and UK dates this summer, which include headline performances and festival appearances at: Primavera Sound in Barcelona, Spain (6/7), Outbreak Fest in London, United Kingdom (6/13), Primavera Sound in Porto, Portugal (6/14), Hellfest in Clisson, France (6/21), Jera On Air in Ysselsteyn, Netherlands (6/28), Glastonbury in Somerset, United Kingdom (6/29). Additionally, TURNSTILE have a handful of North American festival dates planned for the summer and fall including: Ottawa Blues festival in Ottawa, Canada (7/12), Aftershock in Sacramento, California (10/3), and III Points in Miami, FL (10/17-10/18) [itinerary below]. Nation of Language Signs To Sub Pop! Watch the “Inept Apollo” Official Video And 2025 Headlining International Tour Dates
Sub Pop will be the new home for Nation of Language – the Brooklyn, NY-based trio composed of Ian Richard Devaney (lead vocals, guitar), Aidan Noell (synthesizer), and Alex MacKay (bass guitar) – to release their new music worldwide in 2025 and beyond. Today, we’re celebrating the announcement by sharing the dioramic official video for the ebullient new single “Inept Apollo,” directed by John MacKay. The song is available today on all DSPs worldwide from Sub Pop.
Devaney offers this on the “Inept Apollo” song and video:
“Work is a respite from pain. Whether it’s a paying job or just the thing you pour yourself into, having a direction to move in, finding a flow state, it can move focus away from the heaviness of the heart. So after life’s losses, in moments of despair, we resolve time and time again to dive headfirst into the work as best we can. But the artistic process also tends to be when imposter syndrome rears its ugly head - when I find my inner monologue spiraling: ‘this is the best coping mechanism I have at my disposal and I’m not even qualified to be doing it.’
“Accompanying the song is a killer music video by our friend and brother John MacKay: it is an homage to creative pursuits, and in some ways came to represent the feeling of living in a city as an artist. The video feels like walking through an old warehouse in Brooklyn, full of practice spaces and studios, each room occupied by artists striving to express and understand themselves and their place in the world. No matter how bizarre the act may seem or how much self-doubt or pain runs through the mind of the creator, the beautiful thing is the striving and continuing on, rather than the final product or any notion of “success.” The power of creation belongs to all of us; requires the approval of none.”
Nation of Language is also announcing international headlining tour dates in North America, the EU, and the UK for the fall of 2025.
The North American shows begin Thursday, August 21st in Hamden, CT at Space Ballroom and run through Thursday, October 30th in Washington, DC at 9:30 Club. Highlights for this leg include a hometown, three-night stand September 18th-20th at Brooklyn’s Warsaw.
Their UK and EU trek starts Friday, November 7th in Dublin, IE at Opium and ends Friday, November 28th in Lisbon, PT at LAV. Nation of Language will headline some of their largest UK/EU venues to date on this run, including The Roundhouse in London on Wednesday, November 8th, and Columbiahalle in Berlin Friday, November 21st.
Support for the North American and UK/EU shows will come from Safe Mind (Aug. 21st-23rd), Deathwish Inc.’s Greet Death (Sep. 21st-Oct. 5th), Sub Pop labelmates Deeper (Oct.17th-30th), and Partisan Records act Westerman (Oct. 8th-13th + Nov. 8th-22nd).
North American fan presales (Pass: APOLLO) are live now, with tickets on sale to the general public on Friday, May 16th at 10 am (local). Meanwhile, UK/EU presale tickets (Pass: APOLLO) are also live now, with tickets on sale to the general public on Friday, May 16th at 10 am (BST) / 11 am (CEST).
This weekend, Nation of Language will perform at the Cruel World Festival in Pasadena, CA, on Saturday, May 17th, and at Kilby Block Party on Sunday, May 18th.
Preceding the late summer/fall headline run, Nation of Language will also support Death Cab For Cutie on its Plans: 20th Anniversary Tour in Seattle at the Climate Pledge Arena (Thu. Jul. 31st + Sat. Aug. 2nd) and two sold-out shows in Chicago at Chicago Theatre (Tue. Aug. 5th + Wed. Aug. 5th). Please find a complete list of dates below.
Nation of Language has attracted a rapidly growing and devout international audience via their danceable and impassioned take on new wave, post-punk, and shoegaze. They’ve released three albums, including Introduction, Presence (2020), A Way Forward (2021), and Strange Disciple (2023). They’ve seen coverage from Billboard, The New York Times, Document Journal, Brooklyn Vegan, MOJO, NME, Pitchfork, Stereogum, and have performed on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.
Nation of Language’s most recent release, Strange Disciple and its singles appeared on multiple “Best of 2023” lists, earning “Album of the Year” from UK retailer Rough Trade and coming in at #2 on KEXP’s annual listeners’ list. Recently, “Weak In Your Light” was featured in the series finale of the Netflix hit You.
Nation of Language has become a favorite on the international festival circuit, winning over crowds at festivals like Austin City Limits Festival, Desert Daze, Pitchfork Festival, Primavera Sound, Pukkelpop, Corona Capital, Outside Lands, and Bonnaroo, among many others.

When it comes to punk communities across the world, the Orange County punk scene stands out as an undeniable trendsetter that helped define the sound and style of the rapidly evolving genre. From hard luck storytellers Social Distortion and multi-platinum sellers like The Offspring to cult heroes like The Adolescents and T.S.O.L., there’s so much insight to gain from the story of this widely-popular-though-often-misunderstood music scene.
TEARING DOWN THE ORANGE CURTAIN delves deep into the personal and professional lives of bands like Social Distortion, The Adolescents, The Offspring, and their ska counterparts No Doubt, Sublime, Reel Big Fish, Save Ferris, and more, and gives readers a deeper look into the very human stories of these musicians, many of whom struggled with acceptance, addiction, and brutal teenage years in suburbia.
Through many exclusive and first-hand interviews with the principal personalities, TEARING DOWN THE ORANGE CURTAIN brings the 20-year period of OC punk and third-wave of ska (1978-2000) to life, focusing specifically on the historical and musical roots of this creative explosion. Thought-provoking, meticulously researched, and refreshingly candid, this book presents a compelling narrative of how a suburban wasteland turned into a hub for rock-n roll culture, just over 30 miles away from the bright lights of L.A.
