Ellen Cherry, sign/songwriter on So Say the Waiters

"As a bibliophile, I'll admit I was hesitant to read a book on a computer screen, but Sirois' "So Say the Waiters" was a great introduction to using the medium and a fast paced read, to boot. His characters and locations were comfortingly familiar to me as an artist working and living in Baltimore City, and also a reminder that there are so many scenes and stories in my own town that are still hidden.  Henry and Dani are kindred spirits, both navigating the hyper-connected, private-is-pu...

SO SAY THE WAITERS BOOK 2

BOOK TWO IS HERE (eBook only for now)

"So Say the Waiters is dope. It renders the Baltimore scene lovingly, from the ground, while tapping into that contemporary human need to escape through the shifting space where technology and dreams collide. A cyberpunk novel for a corporatized generation."
Matthew Porterfield, director of Putty Hill, I Used to be Darker, and Hamilton

Nolen Strals of Post Typography and Double Dagger on So Say the Waiters

The Waiters' catalyst perfectly captures the disconnected, escapist cultural mood of the current era. Baltimore , its setting, embodies so much of what is great and terrible about America right now. The characters pull you with them, hurtling through a landscape that changes under your feet with every step.
This story feels like this exact moment in America.

So Say the Waiters news

After The Baltimore Sun (Sunday) newspaper Arts and Entertainment feature, sales are really picking up. It's thrilling to know that once book 2 comes out in September, people will be even more excited. I met with my producer for the first time last week, and he is really positive that the pilot will be financed and filmed. We sat on the beach and smoked cigars and talked about Dan Higgs and apps and photo sharing.

possibly the best worst book cover ever (1)

What I find striking about the cover of Pop Star is the absolute lack of addressing anything glamorous or "pop". It's almost existential in its handling of the topic - the polar opposite of what a reader would expect. Is this a high concept novel? Meta fiction to be sure. Placing, and stacking, the title in the upper right of the composition is a bafflingly clever move, most likely to violently throw eye around what negative space remains. We stare into the vast mountain range, looking, searc...
