In Memoriam: Marcel
I absorb into my memory your big, yellow-green and somewhat tired eyes, knowing that a little longer, a little bit longer, and their flame will disappear. Although they will still be open, they will no longer watch me, nor will I see them. Never again....
How much longer will I miss you? How much longer I will love you?

Raise Your Voice With Mine for Baby Seals
It is happening.
I didn't harbor any illusions or false hope, though I wished and still do, that the Canadian government would come to its senses and make the right decision—stop subsidizing and put an end to the harp seals slaughter.
On April 9 at 6 a.m. the sealers were permitted to begin this year's hunt. Or the slaughter of the innocent by the hands of fishermen full of guns, hakapiks and hatred, under false pretenses that the seals are eating their fish. If that was true, why not leave their bodies and carcasses to rot on the ice or sink to the bottom of the sea? If this was the reason, why skinning them alive and take their soft pelts and other body parts to sell them on the international market?
Lies. Not a word of truth out of the mouth of those who killed our seas by overfishing and pollution, taking revenge on those whom fish was the only food.

As I announced before and during the free promo days, as of March 27, 2018 A World Without Color is no longer available for free reading with Kindle Unlimited. Instead of that I am lowering its price from $1.99 to $0.99 so those to whom every dollar counts could get it and read it at a cheaper price.

“Very dangerous, son. You must try never to meet one. If you do come across man but it’s too late to run, be brave. Wait for him. Whatever happens, never, ever turn your back on him. Look him straight in the eye. It’s the only way you might save your life. That’s the moment when he’s most vulnerable and won’t harm you.”
“But how can I not meet a man? How do I avoid him?”
“You’ll sense him coming close. You know, son, man has a special smell. The scent of fear, misfortune and pain. He feeds on it. You’ll recognize him by this scent.”

I was curious and brave enough to purchase and explore A BRAVE Year: 52 Weeks Being Mindful by Gabriel Constans PhD in a rather challenging time for me. It was like someone pointed a finger and told me to slow down with doing my two part-time jobs, studying online marketing for my book A World Without Color and preparing the launch of the new one.
Life is a torrent which leaves many bruises on our body and mind so I thank the author of this insightful book for giving me the much-needed sense of calmness, focus and awareness in a small space while going to work and back home, which is almost the only time when I can read and relax with a good book.
Living through A BRAVE Year can be a brave act, because allowing ourselves to pause, to be still, undisturbed and not doing something of a greater importance is challenging in this hectic world which forces us to sacrifice our personal mental and spiritual nourishment and growth on the altar of the physical survival.
