The REALLY deep end
The deepest end of any pool I’ve been in was 12 feet, I believe. I thought that was deep. Well, here’s a pool whose deep end clocks in at 35.5 meters, or 116 feet. THAT IS DEEP. The windows belong to a restaurant where diners can watch the swimmers at play. The lower areas are underwater caves for scuba divers to explore!
Nemo 33 in Brussels, Belgium is the world’s deepest indoor swimming pool. It contains 660,500 gallons of filtered spring water that is kept at a temperature of 86 degrees Fahrenheit.
Here a few frog people chill before continuing to the bottom. Way, way to the bottom.
Check out this video look at the Nemo 33 experience. Just watching it is guaranteed to cool you off, no matter how hot it is outside!

Courage: enabled!
It’s getting to be that time of year again.
BACK TO SCHOOL. Gulp!
Does the very thought of going back to school send a shiver of terror up and down your spine?
Well, here’s some encouragement. Keep it in mind!
Result?

A stellar adventure
Last week I was privileged to visit the historic 60-inch telescope at Southern California’s Mt. Wilson Observatory. At its installation on December 8, 1908, it was the largest operational telescope in the world. Today, the telescope has taken on a new role as the largest telescope in the world made exclusively available for public viewing. Here’s a video I made about it! NOTE: Although I did see Saturn, a globular cluster, and the Ring Nebula that night (among other celestial objects), the photos in the video were culled from the webosphere. The real thing was even more amazing!

One cool ride
Summer is sweltering. Blistering. Scorching. All right, you get the drift! One lucky kid in China’s Zhejiang province has beat the heat. Thanks to his dad’s ingenuity and the family van, Zhou Yuhang cools like a fool in his own private pool. This is how a water party feels on wheels!

Happy Fourth of July special!
Last year at this patriotic time, we looked at pyrotechnics extravaganzas. Such sensational displays of explosive grandeur are expensive, and getting to the festivities often requires a trip in the car. This year, let’s aim our sights at a budget celebration!
First, we’ll need to have a lovely barbecue and invite all our family and friends. The money we save on cooking equipment goes for extra food!
Then, as evening falls, it’s time to head for the crayons and paper and create our own fireworks.
Not only are these fireworks fantastic and fun, but they can happen right at home and, most importantly for SOME PEOPLE, are as quiet as can be. Have a wonderful birthday, America!

Happy Father’s Day!
Dad has come a long way, and today is the official day to give him credit for it! Hmmm … how many ties does he have already?
Let’s give him a new one this year, not to wear, but to EAT! And we can all share a bite. Love you, Dad!
