Summer road trip
My wife and I went on two trips this summer, totaling about five-thousand miles. The first one took us to Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Alabama, and New Orleans, them back again. The second was down to Wilmington NC, and back. I saw some neat things and got plenty of material for some new stories. I also ate quite a bit and wrote about it in my food blog, www.burgersandbrewsfoodreviews.blogspot.comCheck out the blog.

Walden Library
Lisa and I had a great time at the library today. Thanks to all of you who came out in the rain to see us. If you didn't get there, we'll be back sometime in September for the Farmer's Market again.

Recalculating
Remember how we used to find places we've never been? We used a map, we asked directions, then we used mapquest, and now all we have to do is hang the GPS on the window and follow the instructions. Lazy? Maybe, but it makes life a lot easier. The problem is not to become dependent on them.
Case in point, we have two GPS devices, one for each car. They're different brands though and they each have certain little quirks, like choosing different routes. We were coming home from Pennsylvania and

Pedicure update
I wrote a while ago about my first pedicure, and how great it was. Well, I went back today (sandal weather and ugly feet do not go together) and it was just as nice, so nice that I decided to get a manicure too. Let me tell you, my hands look good.
I'm adding a section in the new book where Maria gets Dan to go for a manicure and pedicure so his hands look good on TV.

iPod and Kindle revisited
I talked about Kindle books and how they are available on the iPod touch as well. I downloaded a couple of books and they are fairly easy to read, given the size. What I find useful is having something to read while I'm waiting for something, or someone. Something is a doctor appointment, or an oil change. Someone is my wife at the mall.
What I have found is that I don't want anything serious to read at those times, just a collection of short stories so I can read a bit and not be disappoint
A Tale of Two Fords
I've been trying to help the American auto industry this year. I bought two new Fords. Well, new to me. I never buy brand new, as I don't want to take the depreciation hit, I'd rather that someone else took it for me. What I buy is a year old model with low mileage, usually a former rental car. And, I buy American. Yeah, I know parts are made elsewhere, but I won't drive Japanese. They are overrated and expensive.
So in December I bought a 2007 Ford Freestyle with 17,000 miles on it from Free

Kindle Books
I was originally skeptical about the idea of reading books on a small electronic device and wondered how it would work out. I later posted my three books on Kindle (I own the rights so it was easy) just to see what would happen. Well, I was pleasantly surprised at how many Kindle editions of my books have sold. I’m doing better on Kindle than I am in paperback.
The problem was that I didn’t have a Kindle myself to see what they looked like. Well that problem was solved when I got my new i-pod

Washington
I just got back from taking 137 high school freshman on a trip to Washington DC, along with 12 other chaperones that is. We had a great time and the weather was great with plenty of sunshine. What was nice is that the kids were all wonderful and they enjoyed it. It was nice to see them look at the White House saying, "That's where he lives." They had a sense of ownership of the government. After having recently gone to London, Dublin, and Edinburgh, it was so nice to be in Washington. We really
