Chalk Dust and Chalk Outlines on Kindle

Okay, the Kindle version has just been submitted and the book should be available in a day or three. The print version should follow in a couple of weeks as that takes more formatting. I'll post the links as they come up.

The CEO is DOA

This is the first chapter in the second half of Chalk Dust and Chalk Outlines.

Sunday October 5th, Newburgh New York 6:30 AM

The half-moon was casting a silvery glow on the calm Hudson River as the two men started to guide the third backing the pickup truck with the boat trailer onto the boat launch ramp. The sun wasn't due to rise for another half-hour and the men were using flashlights to help guide the twenty-two foot boat into the water. Once the boat was launched, they...

Sales Calls

This is a short story I've been working on featuring my two favorite batty old ladies. I'm just putting this up temporarily so let me know what you think.

Sales Calls

Near the end of a rundown street stands a decrepit two family house in desperate need of a paint job with most of the slats on the window shutters missing. In the center of the sagging front porch, decorated with blinking Christmas lights, is the front door dressed up in a white plastic wreath. The lights and...

Chalkdust and Chalk Outlines, Chapter One

Dan turned red, straightened up in the seat, and tried to focus on the speaker, a fiftyish woman with short-cut white hair. She was explaining to the audience of two hundred teachers from several of Chicago's Catholic schools that cultural diversity was a marvelous thing that would enrich everybody. It was the first day back to work and the teachers were having their...

Back to work again

This was a great start to a new school year for me. The new freshmen are a nice group of kids who have some manners and are somewhat enthusiastic about school. Well, as enthusiastic as a group of fourteen year olds can be about being in school. For me it was a matter of getting back into a routine, and that's a good thing in a way. I'm not used to getting up early, but I look forward to teaching.

Now all I have to do is get back to writing again. I spent most of the summer working on the resta...
