Snowicane 2010

We survived the Snowicane of 2010, yeah that's what the paper called it, and now its starting to melt. We were out of power for a day, and out of phone, internet and cable for almost four. Thinking about it I realize how dependent we are on our modern conveniences, but how well we can survive a short time without. We made soup on the grill, lit candles, and watched the utility people working. I met some nice men who came up from Pennsylvania to work on the lines in front of the house.
Probably...

Eliminating the Middleman, new cover

I'm re-issuing my old titles with a new publisher, edited of course to sneeze out those persnickety typos, and I'm re-doing the covers. My initial attempt at replacing the covers with pictures of burgers met with such a maelstrom of protest. Well, my wife and my friend Lisa anyway, that I changed them back. Dead Men Don't Jog has the same cover as the original, but I had to re-shoot the cover for Eliminating the Middleman. I kind of like this one since it's a close up of the tomatoes and...

Valentine's Dinner

Well, I may cheap out on the flowers and candy, but I did make dinner. Surf and Turf. Some nice filet medallions covered with grilled Greek shrimp. We go out to eat all the time, so missing the crowds tonight made sense. The recipe is on my recipe blog.

Valentine's Day, and the hype that surrounds it.

Let me start out by saying that I am blessed with a wonderful wife. I introduced her to someone once as my first wife and she didn't quite like it, so now I call her my trophy wife. And, while I am sort of kidding, I really do mean it, she is a trophy that I don't deserve.
So, now to the subject. I am not one to give her gifts, and for the most part she's not one to care, especially when it comes to Valentine's Day. I will now tell you about three traditions we have and some of you ladies may ...

Dead Men Don't Jog, second edition

The first two titles in the Maria Hart Series are being re-released as a second edition. That means new covers (featuring food of course) and some much needed editing. Here is the new cover for Dead Men Don't Jog. Eliminating the Middleman will feature a photo of a lettuce and tomato sandwich.

Thaw, by Fiona Robyn

A lovely friend in England asked me to feature an excerpt from her new novel, Thaw, and I agreed to. I hope you like it.

Ruth's diary is the new novel by Fiona Robyn, called Thaw. She has decided to blog the novel in its entirety over the next few months, so you can read it for free.

Ruth's first entry is below, and you can continue reading tomorrow here

These hands are ninety-three years old. They belong to Charlotte Marie Bradley Miller. She was so frail that her grand-daughter...
