A Queen from the North on SBTB podcast
A Queen from the North just got a lovely shout out on the Smart Bitches Trashy Books Podcast episode 257[image error].
[image error]RHG: – it was books about Edinburgh and York? Somebody recommended A Queen from the North –
Sarah: Ooh!
RHG: – and I don’t have the author’s name, but you’ll find it. And it’s an alternate history in which the War of the Roses didn’t really end?
Sarah: Uh-oh!
RHG: And it’s now modern times, and the, the Prince of Wales needs a wife real fast for reasons, and he proposes to basically the last daughter of the House of York, and ridiculousness and shenanigans ensue, and it’s really, really good.
Sarah: Awesome!
RHG: I could not put it down. I was at the Tall Ships Regatta in Boston a couple of weeks ago, and I’m like, ships, or I could finish my book.
Sarah: Yep.
RHG: Ships or I could – the ships’ll be there. I need to, I need to read this for a bit. So that, that is my current recommendation.
You should check out the whole episode for hilarious tentacle talk and great recommendations (with and without tentacles)!

Racheline reads at the New York Review of Science Fiction Summer Reading Series
On July 6, I’ll be reading from my and Erin’s latest release, A Queen from the North, at the NY Review of Science Fiction. See the Facebook event page for more details!
https://www.facebook.com/events/318083748647765/
Two months ago, guest curator Amy Goldschlager presented us with an evening of writers from the innovative publishing platform, Serial Box. Well, good cereals often have great prizes in their box that you only discover after you’ve consumed a lot of it. Guest curator Paul Witcover (another emeritus of the series) is teaming up with Racheline Maltese, both contributors to Serial Box’s Tremontaine (created by Ellen Kushner), to inaugurate our Summer Series.
Paul Witcover is the author of five novels, including most recently The Watchman of Eternity. He has been a contributing writer on all three seasons of the serial novel Tremontaine at serialbox.com. He has been a finalist for the Nebula, World Fantasy, Shirley Jackson, and Locus awards, and his first novel, Waking Beauty, was shortlisted for the Tiptree Award.
Racheline Maltese can fly a plane, sail a boat, and ride a horse, but has no idea how to drive a car. With Erin McRae she writes romances about fame, public life, and other forms of witchcraft. Their most recent novel, A Queen from the North, is a contemporary royal romance about magic and marriage in a not-so-united kingdom where the Wars of the Roses have never ended. Racheline is also a writer and producer on Serial Box Publishing’s Tremontaine.

The Omega’s Reluctant Alpha – free through July 5!
We’ll be taking The Omega’s Reluctant Alpha out of KU soon, meaning you’ll be able to buy it on any of the major distributor sites. But! Before it goes, we’ve set it free for everyone for the next few days.
When young omega and newly minted lawyer Andrew takes a job at a local Savannah law firm, he struggles to hide his uncontrolled shifting. Luckily for him, the firm’s owner, William, offers to help, ensuring they both get a lot more than they bargained for.
(Shifters are much better at consent than the vampires, for those keeping track).

Snare – Free through July 5!
We’ll be taking Snare out of KU soon, meaning you’ll be able to buy it on any of the major distributor sites. But! Before it goes, we’ve set it free for everyone for the next few days.
When Elliot Iverson, a municipal employee responsible for paperwork pertaining to New York City’s vampire population, knocks on the door of the Gramercy warren, he wants only to resolve a clerical error. But a sudden snowstorm, a new friendship, and an ill-advised threesome force Elliot to make some big choices about his own life and death.
Please be aware that this story contains some consent issues and is HFN. I wouldn’t call it dark romance, but it’s for sure creepy and has some not nice people in it. It’s not for everyone.

Racheline in BoingBoing about being a fan and a pro
[image error]I wrote World of Riverside fanfiction before I got hired to write and produce on the prequel serial Tremontaine. To celebrate the release of the season 1 hardcover and paperback, I wrote a little bit about how that happened, why it’s weird, what fanfiction does better than many traditional literary spaces, and why doing both makes me a better — if sometimes super socially awkward — writer.

The Art of Three gets an Honorable Mention in the 2017 Rainbow Awards!
[image error]The Art of Three has received an Honorable Mention in the Bisexual Romance category in the 2017 Rainbow Awards. This means that a judge gave it at least a 36 out of possible 40 points and does not imply that the book has or hasn’t made the finalist list (which will be announced later in the year).
[image error]The judge says, “I was smitten by this book and couldn’t put it down. The authors are fantastic storytellers, navigating the reader through complex emotions, varied landscapes, jet-setting life-styles and the social minefield of colleagues, family, neighbors, and the Church. The plot races on, slowing down for the tender p
arts where love and affection blooms unfettered by extra words, and by extra physical descriptions of sex. I noticed the lack of on-screen intimacy, but didn’t miss it. In fact, the already complex plot would’ve been all-too busy with extra thrown in. I recommend this book without reservations.“
