Lyn Says Look at My New Book!
From fashionable New Orleans society, Miss Della Mott is now bound for frontier Spanish Texas where anything might happen. At twenty-five and never interested in marriage, she is glad finally to be considered “on the shelf.” But her plans for independence in Louisiana have failed and now her very life may be in danger.
The panic of 1819 destroyed many fortunes, including Della’s stepfather’s plantation. When he hears of Stephen Austin’s agreement with Spain to allow angloamericanos to settle on free land in colonial Texas, the impulsive man packs up the family, slaves, and their remaining possessions in wagons, traveling north along the trading route to Texas. Della, the realist, knows she can’t depend on her inept, volatile stepfather. Who will provide the protection and guidance they will need to survive?
Quinn, son of an American scout and a Cherokee mother, is heading home to Texas. He has failed in obtaining a thoroughbred colt in New Orleans. Along the way he meets with Della’s family. He is struck by her dignity and strength. But he has decided not to marry. Both his parents died before they reached forty. The frontier is too dangerous to start a family. And he is of mixed blood.
But he also recognizes that Della’s stepfather will lead them into disaster and perhaps death. He can’t ignore her need. And so begins their unspoken alliance into wild frontier Texas.
Unfortunately someone else’s twisted agenda will endanger them all.

Lyn Asks the April Question
So what will be the April question? I don’t know if you realize this, but I write in what’s called three different subgenres. My main genre is Christian romance. (BTW some other genres are fantasy or mysteries or suspense.) My three subgenres:
I write contemporary romances such as my “The Preacher’s Daughters” and “New Neighbor Lane” series. I write romantic suspense, such as my “Northern Intrigue,” “Northern Shore, Intrigue” and “Opposites Attract” series. And I also write historical romance with an emphasis on true events.April Quesion: I’m interested. Which one of these three do you enjoy most and why? Do you read two or all three or only one? Lyn Reviews Heather Haven’s The Dagger Before Me
The Dagger Before Me by Heather Haven
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
The Dagger Before Me, by Heather Haven was the first book I have read by this author. The subtitle for the 3 book box set of the first three in the series is “Blazing a Trail as one of Manhattan’s first female gumshoes.” Percy, short for Persephone, Cole, lives on the lower East side of New York City in the early 1940s. Miss Haven has the period hard-nose PI down to a T (despite the fact that Percy is plump, 5’11” and is a single mom). Despite these factors, Percy is so much like the early Perry Mason—so audacious and always skating close what’s legal and what isn’t. (If you’d like to read an early Erle Stanley Gardner try The Case of the Shoplifter’s Shoe.) Altogether this first book in the series really charmed me, entertained me. And kept me guessing! I’m now reading book 2 Iced Diamonds. I’m so glad that she offered this 3 book box set on sale-one the ways I discover new authors!

A delightful collection of three short stories featuring the basset hound, Leon and his to bipeds: Dora and Etta. Each setting was charming and distinctive, and each story intriguing and a bit finger nail biting. A great collection. A light holiday read!
