Lyn Reviews Cindy Nichols’ Newport Harbor House
Newport Harbor House by Cindy Nichols
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
I truly enjoyed this slice of life women’s fiction. It featured three lifelong friends and a family in transition and a beloved beach house. I could really idenitfy with the dilemma of a woman who wanted to preserve a precious place for family and the reasons other wanted to change it. Just a really pleasant read but it never moved too slow or bored me, And was not predictable! I have been reading a lot of cozy mysteries but have now switched to contemporary romance or clean women’s fiction. Need some ease in my reading!
BTW, my book FATAL WINTER is FREE through Oct 10th Thursday! Click here to download!AND THE NEXT BOOK IN THE SERIES–BENEATH NORTHERN LIGHTS– is on sale for only $1.99! Click here!

Lyn Reviews Robin Lee Hatcher’s Even Forever &!
ASKS THE OCTOBER QUESTION TOO.
REVIEW
I’ve read many of Robin Lee Hatcher’s romances–contemporary and historical. This was a great historical romance and as usual I’ve learned some things about life in the West. The heroine is a spunky lady but she’s faced with a challenge–a disreputable and violent father and a disreputable loser for a brother. Into her life, becomes a man that who doesn’t know what he really wants in life and it’s completely different from any man she’s ever known. Soon marriage of convenience joins this unlikely pair through very odd circumstances. But God is in the story and he leads them to peel back the layers to find how much they really love each other. A really great romance. I highly recommend it.

Lyn Reviews plus asks a Question
Lyn Reviews Rhys Bowen’s Peril in Paris and asks the August Question!
On Her Majesty’s Frightfully Secret Service by Rhys Bowen
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Another wonderful, Her Royal Spynes sseries installment. So happy that Georgie and Darcy are having a baby! Of course we have her friend Belinda and the ex patriot Americans living in Paris after World War I and we have a mystery. I just love the characters; I love the intrigue, and I love the time period that this is taking place in. Of course, there’s always the growing threat of the Nazis as England heads toward World War 2. I recently saw the PBS special “The Traitor King,” which of course was about the prince who fell in love with Wallis Warfield Simpson and abdicated. Evidently he was thick as thieves with the Nazis in truth. This has come out now that documents which had been protected until recently are being exposed. Quite chilling. So it’s interesting that this series follows what was really happening. Love this series!

And reply to the August Question: Do you listen to audio books? What do you think of the new Ai narration for audio books? Would try that?–Lyn

Lyn Reviews Heather Haven’s Iced Diamonds!
Iced Diamonds by Heather Haven
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
I have enjoyed the first 3 the Persephone Cole vintage mysteries by Heather Haven. I love the characters. Persephone is interesting, unusual and smart! I love her family, her dysfunctional family, and how they love each other. Her little boy Oliver is just a treat. I also love the WW2 historical setting-done so well. A NYC of long ago I’m sure. And of course all of her mysteries are so intricate and I love that I can’t figure out who the villain is till the end–the surprising end! I can’t wait to dive into the next one, Hot Shot Shamus!

Lyn Asks the June Question
Lyn Asks: Does Your Pet Do This?
As most of you know, I have two brother kitties, rescued from the shelter. Anyway, they are maturing (2 years old in Feb) and changing. But they are doing something I’ve never had a pet do. They no longer ask me to play with them. Now they play with little fluffy mice and other soft little toys. Their fave? A small bedraggled stuffed heart. Anyway they sleep with us now; I enjoy having a cat cuddled near me. But in the morning I find that they’ve brought one of their “toys” to bed with them like a child and a stuffed animal! Do yours to something like this? That’s the FUN question for this month. Please leave your reply here. I want to know! How special AKA different are my two!!-Lyn

Here’s a new book filled with SUSPENSE by a friend: Laura Scott
Another Wisconsin author, Laura Scott!
Laura Scott is a retired nurse turned full time author. She has written more than 100 books and has more ideas than time to write. Laura lives in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin with her husband of 37 years. When Laura is not writing she takes walks with Otis a Red Fox English lab and enjoys date nights with her husband.
Here’s her latest book!
Raelyn by Laura Scott
Oath of Honor – To protect and serve.
Secrets from the past…
Police Officer Raelyn Lewis knows church pastor Isaiah Washington is holding back on the identity of the kids involved in a horrible police shooting. She demands answers, going as far as to slap cuffs on him. They barely step out of the church when gunfire erupts, bullets slamming uncomfortably close to the pastor. A second attack mere hours later, proves Isaiah is in danger. But why? Who would want to kill a church pastor?
Isaiah Washington wasn’t always a believer. He’d grown up in the hood and had broken the law more times than he cared to count. But he’s managed to turn his life around and accepts his duty is to save other kids, too. Raelyn doesn’t agree, they couldn’t be more opposite. But as they comb through the secrets of his past to uncover who is trying to kill him now, he dreams of a future with her. Can he convince her to give their love a chance?

Lyn Asks the June Question
Well, what’s the June question?
I’m thinking back to when Westerns were popular on TV and in movies. Not so much in the recent past. Trends go in and out. Anyway, do you have any favorite Western stories either on TV, movies or books?
I loved to read the late Louis L’Amour. His grandfather lived in the end of the old West and many authors use his books as research for how people in the West lived. Interesting. Anyway my favorite story of his is Conagher, a rather strange title, right? Conagher is a hero and this is a real life slice of the Old West and a heartfelt romance. I’ve read it many times and it was made into a TV movie. So do you have a favorite book or movie or TV series that takes place in the West? Please share here.
Book 1 of my “Lone Star Courage” series, Loving Against All Odds is available now for pre-order for $1.99 till release on June 18th!
