Writer's block, horrible thing that. When this happens my first plan of attack is to drop everything. Forget about sitting there waiting for the blank computer screen to magically give you direction, that is just not going to happen.
So what I tend to do is accept the fact, wait for my next day off and then go out for a really long walk with my dog. Within the first five minutes my mind is cleansed. The next twenty is generally spent in getting my dog under control and then everything after that gives me the oppotunity to work out a solution.
Usually I get back, have a cuppa and try again. If I still have the dreaded block I will write anything that comes to mind, if still, nothing happens I will repeat the process.

My most recent book 'The China Piece Pile" which can be found on amazon kindle as an ebook and soon to be a paper book on createspace, (sorry about the plug I just couldn't help it.) was formed when I was delivering kitchens for a living.
I got into my transit van one lovely summer's morning ready to resign myself to another day of work. As I pulled away from my house in Westerham, Kent, I noticed I had a spider happily sitting in its web between my side mirror and door.
As I drove away and toward my place of work in Morden, Surrey, the spider remained. I arrived an hour later and still it was there. It was at that moment that I thought, 'This spider is now as far away from its familiar surroundings as it possibly could be. How the hell is it going to deal with that? How would I deal with that?"
To this day, I thank that spider for giving me the inspiration to get off my arse and write something to full completion. I hope it lived a happy life!!

My inspiration comes from all around and generally just living life.

I am working on the next installation of my Steve the Spider series. I am after getting at least three books up before I really make the push. At the moment it's all going well. Long may that continue.

Being an aspiring writer myself I really can't make a valid comment. All I will say is:
Let the doubters have a say but never their own way.
And
Just observe, process and write. The world you live in is an unrelenting well.

The fact that a load of squiggles on a page or computer screen can summon up an image, an emotion and create illusion is enough for me. If you really think about it, It's all quite magical!
